  1. 1. Fire the Dev team, they are nerf happy and do a crappy job.

    2. Hire some consultants or some temporary workers and put them to work ironing out all of the bugs in the game.

    3. Create some new OP's for crying out loud.

    4. Get back to class specific stories instead of the cookie cutter one size fits all BS.

    5. Better character creation options-COH had the best system ever.

    6. Don't gate off recruitment's behind a PVP wall.

    7. MORE OPS!

    8. Create a heroic class along with the associated Advanced classes and storyline. This game has been out since 2011 and there hasn't been one new character class at all! That's something that WoW does right.

    9. Flying mounts!

    10. Create a system in which nerfs for PVP only applicable to Warzones and arenas. The rest of shouldn't be punished because some crybaby PVP'er is whining about someone else being OP'ed.

  2. So, the Species Change and Barber Shop mentioned in the Dulfy interview from months ago are finally realities. That's a good sign! It means the devs are actually serious about their "Yeah, we'd like to do that" statements.

    In that same interview, it was mentioned that Advanced Class changes were also on the table and likely to happen. I'm curious if the community team can update us on whether there's any time-table for when this will be implemented.

    Ideally, I'd love it to be a switch you can unlock, then flip any time — finally allowing me to Tank & Heal with one character.

    But in reality I'm sure it will cost like 6000 Cartel Coins to unlock it, then another 2000 Cartel Coins every time you switch (discounted 3.2% for subscribers, of course) with a 2 month cooldown. Oh well, what can you do? As a start, I'd be happy just to have the option in-game, in any form.

    So! Does BioWare have any upcoming plans for this that can be shared with us? :)

    ~~~
    Edit: While I am proud of how much you are feeding the Dark Side with your blind anger and hate, and vehement vows of impossibility, let me remind you of (source):
    We got the Species part. That makes the AC part also have a lot of credibility.
    So anyway, any ETA or news, community team? :)
    I can care less about being able to change my AC. How about some new character classes? I've been playing this game for almost 5 years and there has not been a new character class along with the associated advanced classes.
  3. Hey folks,
    As of today’s patch, we fixed the following bug: It is no longer possible to purchase a stack of items and resell individual items for the price of the entire stack.
    In a previous exploit, we were very up front and very public about its existence. We raised warnings as soon as we discovered the issue associated with the Temple Chair, with the hopes our players would not use it. What we discovered, were many players using a variety of ways to try and mask what they were doing and who they were. So, this time, we returned to removing visibility until we resolved it.
    This bug created an exploit where a player could make large quantities of various currencies in the game with minimal effort. Use of the bug in this manner is something we absolutely consider an exploit. We are looking over the data of players who participated, and to what degree. We will begin taking action against accounts within the next few days. Action that will be taken includes:
    • Suspension, up to and including permanent suspension
    • Removal of credits
    • Removal of Commendations and other currency
    • Removal of Companion affection
    I can only reiterate, if you discover an exploit, do not use it. Report it to the team immediately. You can do so via an in-game /bug or feel free to PM myself or Tait about it on the forums. Please, do not post about it publicly.
    Thanks everyone. I will pass on updates as I have them.
    -eric
    How about fixing the damn exploit, quit fast and in a hurry instead of punishing people for availing themselves to them.
  4. Thank you, Backus.
    I liked the 4.0.2 nerf. I also understand I'm probably in the minority here. Oh well.
    Companions were insanely OP prior to the nerf, especially if they had really high influence. After the nerf, even with an Influence 3 companion and starter insta-60 gear, I was able to complete a One and Only run through Heroic Star Fortress on a Sentinel. Was it more difficult than before? Well yeah but I was purposefully undergeared and using a low influence companion. I would have liked the devs to let the original nerf run another week to allow people to level up their companion of choice with high influence, maybe get some better gear on their character too and then try it out; you know, put some time in to try and overcome the challenge. You could run the Heroic Star Fortress with a friend, too.
    Now the companions have been buffed back a little bit. Hopefully this is enough to appease those who couldn't handle the content after the nerf but not so much of a boost to the point where you can just hit control-1 and walk away (as was the case prior to 4.0.2).
    The planet heroics were a joke before and after the nerf. They will still be a joke after this recent boost too.
    It has nothing to do with people who can't handle the content. It's everything to do with the increased time and tedium it took to get those things done. Leet boys like you, can't seem to understand that fact, and you can't understand normal thinking.
  5. I Just hope they aren't to strong. I liked the nerf they had. At 4.0 I took a Sith Marauder from start to the end or Narshada without having any gear because of how strong the companions were. I hope they aren't anywhere near that strong.
    Also open world PvP was impossible with how strong they were.
    Having no gear has nothing to do with it. You're leveled synced to a certain amount of hit points and power level regardless of gear. So the OP'ed comp wouldn't have mattered.
  6. I was enjoying the heroics before the nerf from the ninth ring of hell came. Being able to get through relatively easy content helped, me to decompress and unwind. Planetary heroics didn't feel like a death march. They do feel like a death march now. I am not a nub, or someone that can't play or has crappy gear. I do ops with my guild regularly which is awesome, haven't done HM FP's in ages because of the dipwad factor in PUGS and the fact that some people go really, really, really, slow in them or go stupid fast so it feels like I am in a marathon.
    The leets seem to think that everything should be hard, tedious and difficult or as they put it-a challenge. Boring, tedious, and grindy isn't a challenge. Its a PITA. If these leets want a challenge then I would suggest that they enlist in the Marine Corps. The other branches of the military have an 8 week boot camp. The Marines have a 12 week boot camp and they work the hell out of you. That's a challenge. Sitting on *** and grinding through mundane stuff because some people wanted a nerf, isn't a challenge. Its like watching paint dry or water boil.
  7. Ok, so as far as I can tell by the dev's post is you are not going to admit you messed up over there in devland ? Look I was with another game for 10 years guys(yes thru beta ect.) and have to say this and hopefully the dev's will get this. You say its about balance yet tanks can't even have abilities that make then function right, even tho that is part about what makes them a tank. This is supposed to be a team basis game at the higher lvl end of things. You guys advertised that this was all about being solo friendly in your twitch feed(Eric, it was good),but here at the patch for balance you guys nerfed so much making it not solo friendly.
    Look ,player base plays a game because it lets them play the way they feel they want to play..Period Point Blank. Dev's can say what they want but they don't pay attention to other games of the past that basically did the same thing they did with this patch. You cant advertise one thing and flop it around so quickly ,I mean all this should have been tested on a test server before being done. Here is some other games that did the same thing and they are all MMo's just like this.
    Champions Online (Cryptic Title) did the same thing exactly like this in yr 2 lost a lot of player base..their market was real low after that.
    City of Heroes (NCSoft) Probably the best balanced game i've seen in 20 yrs of gaming. Look that game was closed on bad Board of Execs meeting. It's last 3 yrs was probably the best MMO example ever for player base. Ohh check Forbes on its stock and its company profile standings after it killed the game. nuff said there.
    Dev's need to Get in the Game, team with People and look at things from the player base first hand. would help avoid these mess ups a ton.
    COH was the best, had the best costume designer ever. The game play was good, though they were rigid about the classes. They had challenging content. Completing the Statesmen raid was a real accomplishment.
  8. So basiclly, you caved into the crying of people who want the "I win!" button? I'm not surprised. Thanks for killing the spirit of the game. With that said, can I have all the cool loot from NiM Ops just dropped into my bank account? I don't feel that I should have to group with people to accomplish this because I don't have the time due to work and kids and such. I'm a casual and should be awarded for playing casual.
    This game was designed with the casual players in mind. The main point of these games is to have fun. The people who are against this nerf DON'T do ops. They are interested in the story, and want to be able to do the stuff needed to advance that story without pulling their hair out or getting a headache from it. If you want a challenge then do a hard mode ToS in greens. Seriously though, OP's some HM FP's and PVP are the challenging aspects of the game. Doing Heroics to build your alliance shouldn't be a challenge, since they are in essence the new dailies and you need them to build your alliance. I don't want a tedious and boring grind in order to get my alliance lvl'ed up. The rewards don't measure up to the amount and time and effort they take to complete them.
  9. Hello, everyone.
    My name is Michael Backus, and I’m the Lead Designer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. I wanted to take a minute to apologize for the recent Companion changes and address combat balance. I wanted to do so personally because as fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic and our customers, we cherish your feedback and value all of you, and I feel you deserve to hear this information directly.
    I would like to go over why the changes were made, what we’ve learned, and what’s going to happen going forward. There’s a short summary at the bottom if you want to skip the Why’s and get to the What’s.
    Why the changes were made
    Combat balance is a tricky thing. So many factors contribute to the question of, is this too easy or too hard--ability rotations, number of enemies and their abilities, player play style, player skill level, player class choice, Companion role, and even how well your computer can run the game. All of these things and more impact how well you play and how successful you are in combat. Jennifer might say, “This game’s a snap,” while Joe might say, “This is the hardest thing I’ve played in my entire life,” and there’s literally no way to tell who is “right”. The best we can do is create goals and do our best to make sure as many players as possible hit those goals. We posted our goals with different content types recently, here.
    The one thing that was obvious was that Companions were overpowered in 4.0. We came to this conclusion, not only from player feedback and our own playtests, but from watching how players were playing—it is not ideal to send your Companion into combat in a [Heroic 2] and then go make tea, only to come back and collect your loot. We want combat to be engaging, to be fun. We want combat to be something, since you do it for so many hours, that can challenge you. If it’s too easy, we risk players not being engaged and getting bored. If it’s too hard, we risk players leaving and not even trying certain content anymore.
    So, in 4.0.2 we toned down Companion power significantly to be in line with our stated goals. And that’s where the problem occurred.
    What we didn’t realize was how with Knights of the Fallen Empire gameplay had evolved. As a community, you were playing differently than we had expected. I’ll give you an example.
    Emergent Gameplay
    [Heroic 2]s. Before Knights of the Fallen Empire, Heroics were not very utilized content. Most players ignored them after doing them once. So when we highlighted areas of improvement for our leveling experience, we knew we wanted to make Heroics sexier. We wanted players to have good reason to go do them, but also give players a reason to join up with their friends. What we failed to realize was how much most of you would enjoy them, but also how frequently you would engage in them. [Heroic 2]s were initially meant to be challenging content for what we would say is an “average” player. If you had good gear and really knew how to play well, you could solo them but you’d still have to pay attention to what you were doing. If you had expected gear for your level and didn’t think of yourself as that skilled, you’d probably find a friend to join you so you could both reap the rewards together.
    With Companions being the power level they were, “everyone” began enjoying them. And that was the point that we hadn’t realized. By reducing Companion power, we took that away from a lot of you. You could still engage in [Heroic 2]s and beat them, but they had become arduous, even grindy to many players.
    Our misstep was in not realizing that our goals we had set no longer fit with the game all of you were enjoying. The emergent gameplay that was created didn’t fit what we had embraced as our mandate within the Design Team.
    Going Forward
    So, what does that mean going forward? We will be increasing the power level of Companions. And while they won’t be as powerful as they were when Fallen Empire launched, the increase will be significant. I have gotten together with the Design Leads and we have re-discussed our goals for combat and content difficulty. We want players to enjoy [Heroic 2]s and level up their Alliance. You can find the exact changes coming in tomorrow’s patch, below. And I assure you, we will continue to carefully watch how content is being enjoyed and adapt as necessary.
    • Companion healing has been increased by roughly 48%. (Influence level and character level will determine exact amount.)
    • Companion damage has been increased by roughly 15%. (Influence level and character level will determine exact amount.)
    • Companion base stats have been increased by about 15%. (Influence level and character level will determine exact amount.)
    (click the spoiler tag for specifics)
    • Companion channel heal power increased by 61%
    • Companion single target heal power increased by 42%
    • Companion single target heal over time power increased by 43%
    • Companion base stats increased by 15%
    • edit, removed note about damage increase, it is redundant with stat increase above
    Star Fortresses
    Which leads me to Star Fortresses. We are going to treat Star Fortresses as a different topic from Companion balance. The initial difficulty level for Star Fortresses are clearly story content, meaning, we expect all of you to take part and enjoy them while earning new Contacts. This hasn’t changed. The difficult mode for Star Fortresses, though, we feel is a challenge that players should aspire to achieve, and not something players should easily do without gearing up their character and increasing their Companion’s Influence level. We obviously set an expectation Heroic Star Fortresses were going to be similar to [Heroic 2] content, but that was not our intention. As a result, we are going to change the “Heroic” nomenclature for Star Fortresses to something different. We’ll let you know what we decide the new name will be soon. In addition, this will allow us to balance Star Fortresses independently of Companion power, but still make it challenging without making it impossible for many players.
    So, in conclusion, or the tl;dr for the internet savvy:
    • We will be increasing Companion power. It will not be as powerful as before, but the changes will be significant.
    • Heroic Star Fortresses will get a new moniker to denote that it’s a different type of challenge. And we will balance Star Fortresses independently of both Companion power and [Heroic 2]s to ensure they are tuned appropriately.
    Thank you for reading and we look forward to more of your feedback as these changes go live.
    May the Force be with you,
    Michael Backus
    Lead Designer
    Thank you for responding to our concerns Michael. I have an issue with one thing about your post. People did not go make tea and let their companions do the fighting while they went and made tea. I never left and made tea while my companions was doing all of the work. Whoever told you that is a blatant liar and made that up. Many of the heroics are in open world zones. There were so many people doing heroics in those areas and on many planetary instances. No one in their right mind would AFK to make some tea, the missions would take that much longer to complete for them if they did go and make tea while running a planetary heroic.
    I am am above average player with most 216 set pieces with some 220, gear, and a 220 MH. I tried to solo the heroic SF and got my hat handed to me on the last boss. I've been grouping for the heroic SF's since then. The issue for me wasn't the challenge level of the planetary heroics. I was able to complete them. It just took much longer than before. The Makeb heroics were particularly a miserable experience. It was the tedium and grind of those Heroics after the massive, nuke from orbit, nerf. It felt extremely grindy. I was having WoW flashbacks. I play SWTOR because it content isn't a tedious grind-for the most part. I do OP's and was considering PVP until the nerf happened. Heroics are the new dailies regardless of name, and dailies should not be an arduous grind fest. I liked companions the way they were. They were not adversely effecting the game with the exception of those who are on PVP servers-a small minority of players.
    A small but loud minority of players were the ones screaming at the top of their lungs for a nerf. Most of us were very, very, very happy with the companions being the way they were pre 4.0.2, especially the casual players who got hardest hit by this nerf.
    I would have been happy with a 15% nerf-if there had to be one, but the amount you nerfed them by was beyond the pale. The elitist players fail to realize that its not the challenge level, but the tedium and grind that got people complaining, along with the fact that the casual players were put at an extreme disadvantage. On top of that you had the elitist players telling these people to L2P, get better gear, use a cool down and get a better knowledge of their abilities.
    It seems to me that most of the nerfs to powers and abilities has been due to PVP which makes up a small percentage of the player base. I can understand balancing out PVP, however I think that those nerfs should have taken place in PVP areas, warzones and arenas. That way the PVE'ers wouldn't have to take a hit on their characters because a small group of players howled "NERF."
    Once again thank you for addressing this issue and I along with many people would appreciate if you could put this stuff on PTS first and get feedback before implementing it.
  10. What you describe is called 'Real Life'™ - when you grow up you'll discover this. The average mmo player age is around 35, so most of already experience OBSTICLES and CHALLENGES - we play Games to have FUN ...
    OBSTICLES and CHALLENGES are NOT fun (unless you are into Sadomasochism) - but you'll discover this when you grow up and leave school.
    I have enough, obstacles and challenges in my life. I don't want to deal with obstacles and challenges when I doing planetary heroics (the new dailies.) I want to unwind, relax and power through them. OP's, FP and PVP are challenges. The lEEts can suck one!
  11. People telling people to disable healing abilities forget how OP heal comps affected PVP servers.
    If you wanted to kill enemy player with heal companion out you better CC their comp and kill the player fast, or you both ended dancing around each-others and your comps for forever.
    A small minority of players shouldn't be able to ruin it for the majority of players. If you can't hang on a PVP server, then buy a transfer, move to a PVE server and shut your mouth.
  12. I know this feels a bit like clogging a dead horse, but I'll try.
    Eric did say that heroics were supposed to be hard and that companions will only fill in if the person is experienced and properly geared,
    So yes, they are possible to solo, but that doesn't mean every man and his dog are supposed to be able to them in whatever gear they gave to hand x
    He said that in reference to the Star Fortress heroics and not the planetary ones.
  13. Anyone stating they want challenging solo content in this game but yet want that challenge with maxed out legacies and companions would never be able to handle soloing BAMs much less trying to solo 5 man dungeons while leveling in Tera.
    I got maxed out legacy, OP's worthy gear, augments and the whole shabang, and I want companions back to 4.0 levels. Not because I need to L2P, but because I don't want the heroics (the new dailies,) to be a miserable slog fest that provide little reward for the work done. Heroics (the new dailies,) are not meant to be a miserable slog fest. The level sync wasn't a deal breaker because the comps made up for it, now its complete BS because you get capped down to a certain level regardless of what gear you have. THAT'S what make doing heroics a miserable slog fest. If I want a challenge there are HM OP's, some FP's, and PVP. Planetary heroics shouldn't be a grind fest. That's what of the elitist fanboy, butt wipes fail to understand.
  14. The sheer amount of people saying 'well disable comps then if you want hard mode' prove the level of intelligence we are dealing with.
    It is as stupid as saying "Well, if you don't like the colour palette they've chosen in the film, then set your TV to monochrome."
    Maybe you should actually put some kind of input into learning how to play the game, instead of being handed everything and completely carried by your companions, due to your breathtaking incompetence at what was even pre-4.0 a very easy game.
    There's only so far 'easy' can go in a game, until it becomes just a complete faceroll fest. There's easy, and there's what you all want, 'headbutt keyboard once every minute to complete the game.'
    You even ADMIT you want OP companions.
    I can play the game just fine. I have OPS's gear, do ops and can get through the content. However I don't want to spend hours and hours slogging through boring crap in order to build my alliance. Heroics are the new dailies. Dailies are not meant to be a grinding, tedious, miserable slog fest. They went by fast before the dev's nuked comps from orbit. Its not worth the time, effort and tedium of grinding through Heroics in which the rewards do not balance out with the time and tedium it takes to do them. If I wanted a boring, miserable, tedious grind fest, then I would go back to WoW. I understand where the solo and casual players are coming. I started out this game as a solo/casual player because I ran into a gaggle of git bags like you who thought that their fecal matter didn't stink and made doing raids a miserable experience, or even doing dungeons for that matter. Getting my first character to level 50 was a miserable grind fest. I've been playing this game since April of 2011 and I have paid my dues.
    You're goddamn right I want to face roll through heroics. I use my skills when it comes to doing ops and other challenging content. Ops are and some FP's are challenging content. I don't do FP's these days because I get enough comms through ops, and the fact that I hate pugging with people like you.
    Nice try, now go home and get your f'king shine box.
  15. Eric,
    Over the last 2 days of being in these forums off and on. I have begin to wonder if you and the devs have forgotten why so many of us play this game. Play any game really for that matter. See that's what I think you are missing here. It is the answer to why so many are upset and leaving. It is why so many are posting in the forums. It is why after asking for " feedback " , the thread you asked for feedback in has over 1000 posts in 24 hours.
    You see Eric, we spend our days dealing with things like jobs, and traffic and people we would happily never see again or deal with again if we could. Dealing with one headache after another because that is just the way life is. So we come to a game like this. A wonderful game like SWTOR to escape. To get lost in the fantasy and the world of Star Wars that we have loved for so long. To forget the stresses and frustrations of life and have fun. Did you read that last line? Let me say it again in case you missed it. To forget the stresses and frustrations of life and have fun.
    What does this have to do with "one silly patch" you may ask. Before that 1 silly patch, it was so much easier to get lost in the fantasy. To get lost in the wonderful game that is SWTOR. To get lost in the fun, forgetting the stress and frustrations of life. See that patch, it did the most terrible thing possible to a lot of us. It destroyed the fantasy of it. It ruined the fun and made it a very long , tedious and boring grind fest. To a lot of us, that long, tedious and boring grind fest is just not any fun. It reminds us to much of the rest of life. We want to escape into another world. Be someone else. In another time and place. That patch ruins that with the grind fest it has become. with having to stop to heal after every single fight. Go see for yourself. Go to a heroic area with a healing companion and let those multiple elites attack at once and watch your companion try and fail to keep up.
    I don't know if you will read this, or understand or even care if you do. But I had to try to get our point across one last time. To try to express from the bottom of my heart how I truly feel about this. Do you remember what it is like to lose yourself in the fantasy Eric or is it just a job to you now? We deal with boring and tedious grinds in every other area of life Eric. Please, give back our fantasy, give us back our fun.
    Sincerely,
    One loyal Player
    I would go back to WoW if I wanted a tedious grind. I play MMO's so I can feel like I just went to a 40 hour a week job. I play to have fun. Your post was spot on. Bioware advertises SWTOR to be casual player friendly. Nice one Bioware.
  16. Your level: 65
    Roughly Average Item Rating: 216
    Discipline: Sorc/madness
    Companion: Lana Beniko
    Companion role: Heals
    Companion Influence level: 22
    SF solo was stupid easy and I had lvl 208 with 192 relics and MH. The SF Heroic on Alderaan was somewhat difficult. The platforms were difficult but I got through it. The last boss was impossible because Lana got scragged, and I couldn't keep up with the damage. I am not even going to attempt it now, because its a colossal waste of time and almost impossible to get someone to do it with me. Planetary heroics were a breeze pre 4.0.2. They are a huge pain in the rear now, because of the thermal nuclear nerf bat to companions. The problem for me isn't the difficulty doing the planetary heroics. Its the inordinate amount of time that they take vs. the rewards ratio. A crappy alliance crate that drops some legacy gear (mostly bracers and crappy looking pieces, a level 6 companion reward-maybe,) and the small amount of comms isn't worth the time and effort they take now.
    The elitist, apple polishing fanboys may like grinding away at that stuff but the overall player base doesn't. If the elitist, apple polishing fanboys want a challenge then they can do a HM op in item level 190 gear. Grinding out stuff like planetary heroics isn't fun. That's a quick and dirty type of thing. It's a real PITA! I used to play WoW. I stopped playing WoW, because grinding out dailies for little reward, and a lot of work. It felt like going to a 40 hour a week job that stunk. On top of that, the same elitist, apple polishing fanboys that troll the companion nerf posts were also the ones that played WoW and they along with the above mentioned stuff made the game a miserable experience. Bioware is going in that same direction IMHO.
    SWTOR is supposed to be geared towards the casual player. Some people have responsibilities outside of the game and don't have the time to spend hours and hours grinding out content. They want to log on play, have fun and not have to spend hours upon hours doing content for little reward. The elitist, apple polishing, fanboys remind of the character from the South Park WoW episode. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/southpark/images/0/05/Griefer.png/revision/latest?cb=20120211222858
    I was enjoying building my alliance and I actually got some PVP gear together so I could get Pierce but now I do not see the point. The companions were fine as they were as far as I am concerned. This game has HM flashpoints, SM ops, HM and nightmare ops for those wanting a challenge. I do ops regularly, however the work to reward ratio in ops is proportional. I am fortunate that I am in guild that has people who are helpful, and not elitist L2P fanboys. The heroics and SF's heroics are not proportional when it comes to work vs. reward ratio as of 4.0.2. Nerfing them by 20% is acceptable but a 75% nerf is way beyond the pale. There is something for everyone to do in this game. Wait the casual players just have to take it on the chin now because of the companion nuke.
    I know that the chuckle heads on PVP servers were whinging about the companions and I don't give a crap. Once again a very small minority of people have ruined it for everyone else. No one is keeping them on a PVP server. They can transfer their characters to a PVE server if it's too much for them to bear.
    This nerf comes off like a vindictive nerf and that the dev's appear to have the attitude "this will show them." This needs to be fixed ASAP. The dev's took something really awesome, and then vomited all over it and it comes off like a badly implemented bait and switch. The dev's are making the same mistake that the dev's over at COH did when they nerfed PVP back in the day. That MMO went dark 3 years ago. :mad:
  17. I know the word 'troll' gets thrown around a lot, and I certainly don't want to call people names.
    But I would advise glancing at Jcargan's posting history. He's sort of a 'one tune man' if you catch my drift.
    He told someone who's patch didn't complete properly their PC sucked :D
    So he's just an ahole in essence?
  18. Lol
    The game isn't hard though. Those who are advocating for leaving the nerfs as is are mostly casual players too. They just see the logic in there being a cap to how easy the game is. Eventually people are going to hit that cap and need to either
    1) Cry on here
    2) Get better gear
    3) Improve compnaions
    4) Improve skills utilizing 2/3
    We aren't advocating for the game to be hard so that snowflakes fail. We are advocating the game to have some kind of skill required for certain content. HEROIC content should be harder than SOLO or CLASS STORY content. how is that terrible?
    That's not the point. I can do Heroics just fine, however it takes much longer to do them, and who and the F'k wants to spend an inordinate amount of time grinding them to get one alliance crate a, bunch of junk and mini companion gifts? Increasing the rewards might mitigate the frustration a little bit. I would like to see one of these pin head developers go to a community event with Mussco and hear directly from the public. The nerf did go to far and it was a vindictive nerf. Nerfing them by 25% would have been acceptable. You are part of the chorus of fan boy, boot lickers who scream L2P like a special snowflake who is too stupid to shut their cake hole.
    Your head would go would halfway in if the dev's came to a sudden stop.
  19. My sentiments exactly. I have had more fun than I can remember in 4.0. I have been boring my friends to tears with accolades and trying to get them to join me....now I'm ashamed. I've got to eat my words and tell them to forget it. When word of this screw up hits the airwaves and no new subs are forthcoming,, someone EA big shot is going to kick some SWTOR developer but!
    They need to break a foot off in the dev's rear ends, and bury it so deep that the dev can taste shoe leather. They really screwed the pooch and listened to all the fan boy, boot licking punks who think their fecal matter doesn't stink.
  20. /notsigned. Barring the known bugs (like the armor rating and defensive stats in tank stance), they're fine.
    Sure, they're not godlike anymore, but they never should have been. They're still significantly stronger than they were pre 4.0.
    But I guess some people don't want to play the game, they want to watch their godlike companions play for them.
    Yeah and I have ocean front property in Arizona. Nice try, now go home and get your shine box.
  21. I am totally down with the way companions WORK now. I love the role selection and the removal of the need to gear them. My only beef is with their overall effectiveness. It's impossible to directly compare the game now to what it was so we're all relying on memory of events that can't really be compared apples to apples between one person's experience and another. But MY experience was that I could never just hop into a group of four elites with a DPS and a heal companion and then, if I felt like it, just take my hands off the controls for a minute.
    Maybe the game wasn't very challenging for you before, but do you honestly feel like it's not even LESS challenging now? Yeah, it was rare for me to die soloing before too. But the point is that this was because I was paying attention and participating in combat. I was using my abilities to shield, heal, or just deal damage fast as I could. I was beating them before they beat me. Now? Well, I can still do that and get the same results. But I could also just spam my basic attack and trust my companion to never let me die.
    I don't know about you, but I sure don't remember them being THAT good.
    I don't have a problem with role selection, but I do have a problem with the fact they nerfed companions straight to hell and went extremely overboard on it to the point where they are worse than the pre 4.0 power levels. Were they way over powered in 4.0? Maybe. I never saw it as a problem because its not like companions were going into op's. Has it made it grinding harder? It depends on your character class. It does make it much harder for people who play classes that don't have stuff like sorc bubbles and whirlwind. I can see Mara's and Snipers getting ruined in planetary heroics and you can forget about soloing the star fortresses, good luck with finding someone to team with you.
    The companion nerf comes off as being vindictive, almost like the dev's had a bug up their rear ends. It was poorly thought out and reactive. I might have been okay if they nerfed them slightly or gave something in return for what they took away but didn't happen. They should have focused their attention on ironing out all of the bugs and glitches that have been plaguing this game for years. There are bugs in this game that have been around since it started. I guess it's easier to brutally maim companions with the nerf bat instead of rolling up the sleeves and ironing out all of the kinks.
