  2. The new HMs are not in any way more difficult then the last batch of NM modes. TFB & SV NM are not in any way obsolete. Sure, the new gear will help people get through them, but most of the fights are about coordination and mechanics. They aren't a gear check. You could clear them in 72s with the right group, and plenty of groups will fail to clear them with 78s. As said here above, I don't want the devs working on any ops but the next round of NM. That's where the real challenge in the game is. For your third suggestion, that is likely what they are going to do again, for the next round of NM ops. A unique tier of gear that only drops in those ops.
  3. From what I saw today in the new Oricon area, the easiest way to gear up quickly is to run that quest line. Each of the story quests rewards you with purple 66 gear, and you end up with pretty much a full set. Certainly it's enough gear for 55 HM FPs, if that is what you are looking to do. It also seems to be intended to be done with a friend, so that should work great for the two of you. Most people seems to be grouping up for the Heroics at the end, at the very least.
  4. That's certainly the most mature response I have seen so far. I'm sure that downing it for the first time gave those folks the same sense of satisfaction that it gave any of us. Whether they are are 5th or 50th, it is at the end of the day a game. No harm in people enjoying it.
  5. I'm not sure what the issue is with ranking thing based on voluntary submissions. Though I get a little confused with some of the convoluted ranking sheets used, in general I like to see who actually cleared the instance when. It would be great to see something more official, but what we have so far seems to work. The competition is not with all groups in existence, but those that choose to participate in the threads. Celebrating the killing of one boss is a little silly, which is where this thread started. It seems like this is a case of some relatively casual players who wanted to make themselves feel a little more hardcore, and celebrate their own achievement. Not really a compelling reason to blow everything up.
  6. High five, Tco. I honestly hate doing content overgeared. Aside from NM progression, when I do any other raiding, I try to show up on a toon that doesn't overgear the instance I am running. Makes things much more fun and challenging. And the point cannot be overstated, good players can outplay their gear to absurd levels. The gearing requirements mean almost nothing if you have a solid team. And to the point of Commando heals, the best healer I have run with is a Commando. I believe we cleared every NM boss with him. That being said, he is a magical wizard, so YMMV.
  7. She has not logged into her forum account in 32 days. I contacted her GM in game a couple weeks ago and it seemed like she was going to be back at some point, but that clearly isn't happening. Seems like it's been long enough to declare that site abandoned.
  8. I don't see this having been mentioned, but if whoever has picked up the generator holds it till there are a few seconds left on the timer before plugging it in again at the new spot, you can pick up some DPS time. Another small spot of DPS is on the first position, if you kill the first set of adds, and ignore the second, there is not enough time for them to kill the generator before it runs out. They can be dragged to the next spot, and aoed down on the boss. I have tanked several of the Nightmare bosses on my Vanguard alt. I've never worried about my DPS. If you are hitting enrage, (a mechanical enrage in this case), either your DPS is low, or something about your strat has reduced your time on target. Looking to tanks for DPS always seems a little suspect, though I do understand that in this case it's a proactive tank looking to push his group over the top. That being said, anything you can do to increase your DPS without losing mitigation is great. It's when people start to actually lose mitigation that I start to raise my eyebrows.
  9. For anyone looking to get this down now that most people already have, it's entirely possible for two reasonably geared players using companions to get through this fairly quickly. The turret defense fight can be easily soloed, and the other two fights just require you to be careful and pay close attention. So just grab a guildie and get it down, no need to look too hard for a full group.
  10. I personally found downing the bosses in linear order to be much more satisfying and fun, but I will grant you that it takes a large investment of time and effort, and might be a little too frustrating for some.
  11. Yep. I have lots of friends who I know would like to be able to get through some of this content. Hopefully this helps. For those of us who participate in the competitive progression and are looking for a serious challenge, it would be ideal if each boss fight was more difficult then the previous one. DGs was a big hump at the beginning, which is not really how things should work. So while I do want very difficult fights, some linear progression would be nice.
  12. I guess I am reading that as suggesting that people who are already on the top ring will not be knocked up and damaged during the double add phase, since they are already up there. The clear bug fix I approve of though. It too awhile to get used to that rocket popping so fast.
  13. Not sure how the fixing of two bugs in Thrasher is a nerf. Unless you are reading a different set of patch notes, I don't see any nerf in there. Maybe I am missing something?
  14. In the grand scheme of things, very few groups have managed to get through the fight. The original nerf came too quickly. This one, not so much. There does have to be some kind of balance between making the content challenging for the hardcore of the hardcore, and also making it accessible to a decent portion of the player base.
  15. I am playing more 55 FPs on my 61 geared Juggernaut then I ever have. The only time they are actually fun for me is when I am undergeared. Healing or Tanking them in 69 gear or better is laughably easy. So much so that it becomes utterly boring. The only times I have really wiped in an FP is when you have an absolutely awful Tank. So I queue a lot more on Tanks then on anything else. As an addendum to this whole discussion, I was just in a HM Athiss where the Tank & Healer were insisting on some convoluted strategy for the first boss where you drag him halfway across the map, because it made the fight "easier". The idea that any of these fights are difficult enough to some people to require strategy boggles my mind.
  16. Small point of clarification for the last batch of kills there. The date for Ascension's Dash kill is off by several days. The rest of the kills look correct, so I assume it was just a minor data entry issue.
  17. Nice to see people submitting real parses for the more neglected classes. I threw up a bunch for them on my various undergeared alts, so it's good to see them getting knocked off the lists.
  18. ^ Very nice. Tough class to get good numbers on. Will bump me to 3rd on mine, and knock my guildie right off. Lind <Legendary> Character Class: Vanguard Character Spec: Hybrid 0/22/24 Torparse Link: http://www.torparse.com/a/329751/time/1373355470/1373355770/0/Overview

  20. LD 50 for sure. Their website identifies them as being officially on Prophecy of the Five now.
  21. ^ Agree 100%. That way every role comes into play, rather then just a DPS race.
  22. Dilih did down down that boss because they had the "ideal" group composition. They downed it because they are great players, they put in the time and effort, and they figured out how to do it. They pushed through and accomplished something. While I agree 100% that Bioware has made a mistake, what that mistake was is up for debate. For my ops group, the number one thing that would have solved all this griping is if Nightmare was on a separate lockout. That way none of us would have any alternative but to work on it till we get it down.
