  1. There is an NPC called Skill Mentor in on the Fleet and on the Capital planet. On the fleet he is located in the Combat Trainer section, he has his own room with the Guild registrar. On the capital he will be located somewhere near the galactic trade terminals.
  2. I really hope they hurry up and bring back the Search function so I can stop answering this question. There are only two types of Heavy Armor. Jedi Knight armor with str/end and Trooper armor with Aim/End. The Devs didn't want Fess running around dressed as a Jedi so his primary stat was left as AIM. If you stack Str instead of Aim you will gimp his abilities as they all rely on Tech, which is only improved by the Aim stat. As for the OP, while all true on some level, Fess is not the only companion to have these issues, he is not the only companion to use Techblades, and he is perfectly fine for levelling with. Evidenced by the many, many people who have done so.
  3. I'm too lazy to log in right now and travel to Hoth to check, but I am 80% certain that the starting area for Republic is in the top left corner. Have you tried just traveling over there and having a look?
  4. Qyzen uses AIM as a primary stat so that he can use Trooper heavy armor. This is partly laziness on BW's behalf, similar to how the Trooper's first companion who constantly talks about how he was in a Sniper unit and has an ability called Sniper mode, uses an assault cannon because there are no Sniper Rifles with the AIM stat. He uses techblades as his weapon rather than Vibroswords, because AIM is his primary stat. (Also note, he is not the only companion to use Techblades.) There are no Orange Techblades yet. There are no Hilts with Aim and Endurance, so even if there were orange techblades, they would be relatively useless. I expect the itemization issue to be on BW's to-do list, but I imagine it is no small task and they have other priorities right now.
  5. Go to preferences, then look at the bottom of the window, should be a tab for keybinding. Inside that menu you should be able to find Quickslots on the left side. You can then scroll down the list and bind individual quickslots to whatever keys you want. When you hit Apply the new binding will appear in the quickslot boxes. I always use Tab for targeting enemies, allows me to quickly cycle through enemy groups and find the one on the lowest health, and click the group box/companion box for targeting friendlies.
  6. There is no search function, so don't worry. I would say that corner is either the Imperial (or Republic) main base/quest centre or for a bonus quest series that you may get in a few levels time. Similar thing happens on Tattoine, the bottom half of the Jundland district is never explored if you're Republic as it's all Imperial mission area.
  7. Wasted how? He does tell you that he isn't equipped for combat, and when you press P to look at his abilities it doesn't list any weapon types.
  8. Also, don't bind your computer or monitor power buttons to quickslots either.
  9. Enter Fleet, walk through first door. Speak to guy with mission icon. Go to trainer area. Jedi Knight is the room on the end. Trainer and Advanced guy in there.
  10. Heh don't worry, it is the most cryptic way they could have worded it. Most people have been confused by it.
  11. I don't understand how you are such a low level if you have done all the quests so far. I haven't touched PvP, I finished Tatooine at around lvl 28-29, did the bonus series there. Left around 31. Straight to nar shadaa for that bonus series, so will be around 33/34 by the time I reach Alderaan. Also: "You have to complete missions before you can do this quest". Means that your mission log is full.
  12. It's extremely easy to end up several levels higher than every mission your receive. Just completing every mission and Bonus series will be enough, throw in some Space missions and PvP and all your missions will be green up until your mids 40s. Then you get to wade through groups of normal mobs and feel all powerful. Also, it largely depends on your class and AE abilities. My Trooper levels groups of normal enemies with one mortar strike. Even when they're the same level. Whereas my Sage didn't get any AE until after lvl 30 so groups of enemies took a fair bit longer.
  13. I'm guessing that you're still on the first planet, if so just continue with your missions. When you reach the Fleet you will find a mission giver just outside the first door who will point you in the right direction.
  14. When you put an Armouring mod into an item the only thing that alters the end Armour amount is the type of item. Light, Medium, or Heavy. So an Armouring piece with rating 44 with give the same armour amount in an Orange Heavy armour item you found at lvl 8 as it would in a piece you found at lvl 48. When the Orange items are empty of mods it will mention a base armour stat, but ignore that, it has no impact on the Armouring mod.
  15. Consular's have the same issue with their first companion, Qyzen Fess. You can find techblades on every weapon vendor though, they can be crafted, and specific companion mission rewards. I doubt that is the reason considering both the Smuggler and Consular have companions with Sniper Rifles. I see sniper rifles on the commendation vendors too. Although the stats could be the issue.
  16. I apologise if I this comes across as patronising, but I don't know how much you know about your class. Before combat your Focus is at zero, you gain Focus by using your standard attack, your leap and a couple other abilities. As you use your standard attack your Focus should start increasing until you use one of your other abilities that will drop it back down. So it's a sort of balancing act between building and using. Also, make sure you are using the correct basic slash, press P to check your abilities and you should have an attack that doesn't cost any Focus, but instead builds it. I believe the ability you are looking for is called Strike.
  17. Think I was missing one entry when I left the planet, no idea what it would be. If you search the internet I would expect there to be Codex guides up by now showing the location of all the Lore and other codex entries. Might have the ones you're after on them. Also if you have any questions about the stats or anything else feel free to ask here.
  18. When you first get your ship it doesn't have any upgrades installed. The Class 1 upgrades can be purchased from the Starship Vendor on the the Fleet. He's located in the same area as the Speeder vendor. Once you have everything purchased and equipped during a Space mission you will see a blue circle in the bottom left, those are your shields. As you take damage you will see them reduce. At zero your hull will then start taking damage. The obvious strategy is to only fire your weapons when you're aiming at something to give your shields the best chance of recovering. Also, making good use of W,A,S,D and Spacebar to move around the screen will help avoid damage in the first place.
  19. There are two off-hand items you can use Shields and Generators. Generators usually have slightly better stats, but shields have the chance to absorb some of the damage you take. Which you choose to use is largely dependent on the role you're choosing for your character. If you're planning to be a tank which requires taking a lot of hits, then the Shield is the best option, as the standard shields offer a 5% chance to absorb 20% of the damage received. Then your armour provides further damage reduction. Also, as a tank class you probably have or will get a skill or "stance" that increases the 5% chance upto about 20%. If you are going into a damage spec, then you will not usually be taking many hits so the Generator would be a better choice as improving your stats improve your damage.
  20. Sounds like BW are missing out on a natural Quest writer.
  21. No No No NO No No No!! For the hundredth time. STR only increases melee. AIM increases melee and tech. In other words, all of Qyzens abilities rely on his AIM stat. People stack STR on Qyzen and start whining that he is unable to keep aggro and mobs keep attacking them, because his taunts and shields and such all rely on AIM. Also, there is plenty of Heavy armour with STR, as that's what JKs wear.
  22. I believe there are plans to bring in Capital Ships that will serve as the guild hall. Don't think any real details have been revealed yet though.
  23. It is recommended not to try meeting up until you finish your first planet, once you finish your story mission on the planet, around level 10-12 you will be sent to the fleet where you can meet up. This is because your story/class missions are tied to the planet you start on. It shouldn't take you too long to get through them and meet though.
