  1. OK in all honesty my last post here. I said I was done in a previous post but I just had to ask this question. I won't respond to any posts but I'm curious to see the answers.

Why do solo Q'ers want to play RWZ's against other PUGS or in RWZ's in general? The reason why you play RWZ's is to play against the top-notch PVP'ers on your server. It's competition, why dumb it down when they already have that mode: Regular WZ's? Why do you want to play RWZ's so much? I mean really ask yourself, why? If it's to acquire gear more quickly (which I see as the only possible reason) you are doing yourself more harm then good. Take your licks in Regs, become a better player by experiencing the good, bad and the ugly. You have to learn to crawl before you walk.

  2. I now see why the majority of skilled players don't even bother coming here to post. This simply a forum for people to whine and cry and I won't be a part of a it any longer. I the majority (not all) should probably roll a Panda. I tried to help, offer advice, but NO. Reason and logic obviously have no place in a community such as this one. You guys have it all figured out. Jealousy is an ugly, ugly emotion. Continue to be bad, baddies.

  3. It is certainly pertinent when you incorrectly color the situation like this:

This implies some sort of unannounced subtlety, when it was quite the opposite. They were very straightforward about what's in 1.4, and that's what is in tomorrow's patch.

This analogy is a poor fit. A better one would be McDonald's telling you about a combo that gives you a sandwich, fries and a drink and then complaining that you don't also get chicken nuggets with it because you see a sign for chicken nuggets in the restaurant.

I'm sorry for disappointing you, though I have to admit my priorities do not include gaining your approval. I'm sorry nonetheless.

Well done sir, well done. I lol'd rather hard at the chicken nugget analogy

  4. Like I said, rank (I assume u mean valor rank) should have no effect at all on balancing.

If you mean rating i.e. skill rating determined by win/loss ratio and opponents rating, then it would average out our groups rating and place us against other people that equal our average.

The beauty of the rating system is that if being in a premade is such an advantage, then the rating system will reflect that. If gear is actually a bigger factor then the rating system will also reflect that. If I'm a complete noob then the rating will reflect that, but at least in all circumstances I'll be placed against similarly rated people and be able to get a fun, fairish fight (or, at least fairer than now).

I have problems with this post. More fair? Players and teams that are unbeatable in your eyes, worked hard to become like that. Nothing was given to them, they earned it. Nothing is stopping ANY player from becoming great except themselves.

Rated is for serious players. You have no business in a rated if you aren't in full WH to begin with. You should assume that every team you face in a rated is fully aug'd WH. Rated's aren't there for acquiring comms to get geared. It's high-end competition and should be treated as such.

  5. I don't know about you guys but when I think of "premades" I think of "Skilled Premades" not "Geared Premades" Is mean is it just me or do people actually blame losses on gear and gear alone? People I know and play with certainly don't. If I hear any whining about a loss it is usually "They had a better team composition", not "Oh their gear was superior!". When I lose I credit the other team, not make excuses.
  6. Im so bored of these posts!

What no one calls you good so you come here and tell others they are bad?

    Seriously, get over yourself!

Tell you what, im on The Harbringer server and anytime you want to go full recruit gear vrs my Augmented War Hero gear (when I get it) Ill be more then happy to grant you the chance!

And when your beat down after barely scratching me you can come here and tell everyone you have no skill and I am a master (as thats what your claiming now after so same must hold true)

ANYONE that says the skill > Gear statement right now is Trolling and nothing but!

When gear is equal, then and only then is it Skill over another!

Right now most casuals are not in full battlemaster as you try to claim, they are in recruit with a peice of battlemaster here and there at best. And they certainly dont have the perfect stat distribution and augments buffing them. Hell I bet 7 out of 10 warzoners dont even use a stim currently.

GEAR most definately is > so called skill.

If your so great, wear your old recuit gear and stop giving yourself every advantage you can possibly create.

    Yeah I didnt think so!

As for make friends, WOW you kid are .....naaa nm, not worth the infraction!

Come back when you have something relevant and sensible to say on topic.

And lastly as you clearly dont have the skill level to understand this

Getting rolled by over geared pre mades doesnt make anyone better

People get better by facing adversity they are able to compete against

When they get rolled cause some kids lacking self respect and dignity refuse to face other pre mades in the ranked warzone, they learn nothing at all. Not a damn thing. Nada.

Well other then gear makes a huge difference rather then skill being deciding factor.

As for those cry babies about "ohhhhh the ranked q is to long"

Well if you got your behinds out of the solo q and qued up for ranked, it would be much shorter.

Ranked is long because kids that claim to have skill are to frightened to show their stuff against like geared premade also on voice chat.

I mean, what fun is it when you get rolled worse in ranked then your rolling under gears solo players in unranked!

Ranked in this game would be popping and be fine if they just removed the over geared pre mades from the solo que. Would be more then enough competition in ranked to keep it popping.

And unranked would be much more enjoyable and create better players because of it as well.

Speaking for myself, I will not be stepping a foot into the unranked once I have my WH gear even 75% filled.

A fully geared WH with stat distributions is like a 50 facing off against a 25. There is no challenge or skill in it and personally I dont find enjoyment rolling people unable to fight back.

I like facing people in a contest where skill rather then gear is the deciding factor!

If your rolling unranked well in wh and a fully formed pre made,

    your just greifing lowbies.

    TOR vrs of PKing

So dont come here saying your all this skilled.

If your so freaking skilled, go enter the ranked and win your matchs and let OTHERS come praising you, rather then you praising yourself!

Why do you keep saying that? WHEN DID I EVER SAY RECRUIT WOULD BEAT FULL WH? You sir, are an idiot. L2R: Learn to Read.

  7. In a general note:

Of course if there are long queues for "premades" and people normally do not want to waste their time, THIS IS the issue devs need to solve first.

make the "hardcore pvpers" their "own" warzones and other tier of WZ for newbies.

    As simple as that.

I do not want that any side is disappointed, it's just a question of making things more fair.

Cos i think, it would be more fair if there are 2 teams of clueless people trying to UNDERSTAND what is it all about first than 1 team of SPVPP against a team of randoms.

Those form clueless who would be able to get themselves organized and winning among each other will make progress. Those who cannot, well, probably will find another place for their fun.

It's my 2 cents only, I am not concerned about the whole thing that much.

I do the WZ because it is a content i wanna experience.

But if there comes more story oriented expansions, I wont' be bothered with pvp anymore.

It however seems that Bioware tried to satisfy both parties: soloers and pvpers and that was not reached.

Pvpers are screaming for more content,( I guess related to pvp strictly - somehow they mostly ignore the solo stories and literally months of game play - just because there are computer mobs instead of figures controlled by another person.

Soloers not being used to team speak, ventrilos (and other mumbling stuff) and organized play are unhappy about strong groups of (almost) unbeatable enemies who simply prevent them from experiencing the game till it's very end.

Soloers do not perceive the "end game" or Warzones as the continuous thing. Once it's beaten, doei, doei, and go for another (not yet explored) part.

    I guess.

I'm on-board with the majority of what you said. I remember what it was like being new to the pvp community. I was quiet, unsure, didn't like communicating a whole lot, but I realized to be competitive in this game I needed to make friends, join a guild hop on Vent etc. I had to adapt to be where I wanted to be. And if people don't want to that's fine but I think they give up the right to QQ and be taken seriously if they choose not to adapt. The tools are available for everyone to be successful in pvp, you just gotta use them.

  8. WTB solo-only rated queue.

Why? RWZ's are meant for the hard-core pvp'ers. Wedon't play rated for the comms we play for the competition, for the glory of victory against top-notch TEAMS. The comms are just a bonus. If you complain about the competition in regs why in the world you you want to play ranked? I don't understand this school of thought.

  9. Its just in the wrong section.

    ---

    Vanguard

    Tactics

Pulse Generator: Each stack now causes 20% additional damage. This can stack up to 3 times.

Shock Absorbers now additionally reduces damage taken from area effects by 15% per point. Damage reduction while stunned has been increased to 15% per point.

    Assault Specialist (Vanguard)

Sweltering Heat's snare has been reduced to 30%.

Incendiary Round's range has been reduced to 10 meters.

Assault Plastique's range has been reduced to 10 meters.

    Assault Specialist (Commando)

Sweltering Heat's snare has been reduced to 30%.

Yeah that sucks for mercs/commandos :(

  10. Tilte says it all.

In Wow, for an example, it's outside of Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Everyone knows it. SWTOR needs a dueling area on the fleet (idealy) but it could work to have it on like the starting planet or something. The importent thing is that everyone knows where it is.

Duling is a fantastic way to just make the time fly by and test your skills against other players. Unfortunatly it's almost non existing in the game right now, which is really sad.

I even want arenas to be put in the game, which you can queue up for, but I know that it wont be implemented. Howeverv a dueling area on the fleet isnt to much to ask for.

    What do you guys think?

DK and Korriban are popular places. I prefer DK and I think most people do as well.

  11. It was a well written post but there is a lot wrong with it. I'll go by the points you brought up

    1. I just want to state a fact here. If I put my marauder valor rank 100(If you don't think valor rank means anything, then just stop posting in the PVP thread.)against a recruit gear marauder, all it would take is my basic attack to kill him. He could blow all his CD's and use all his skills and still not bring me below 70%. Know how I know this? I tested it and this applies to every match up.

Gear> Skill- People are just afraid to admit that one point because they don't want the pug farming to stop. Test it yourself Bioware, you'll see who is telling the truth.

    2. The working mom/dad doesn't have time to earn their "stripes" or go through the grind. They come home from work and play maybe 1-2 hours a day. So in that little time frame they have, they want to get the most enjoyable experience from the game they brought. Also at the end of the day, their dollar bills are just as good as yours, so why shouldn't they get some consideration?

Another point that is blatantly obvious but I seem to have to break it down in simpler terms each time--If they aren't having fun in PVP then that means they won't queue up for PVP. Which means less queue's and less matches for everyone, It's a lose-lose situation we have right now.

    3. I agree that this is a MMO and we should all be social butterflies, but as I stated above some people don't have the time to make friends and form a consistent group every time they play.

I run with a premade and we destroy everyone on the other team. I watch myself get 18-20 medals per match while the other team gets 4 medals(at the most). It's super fun for me to go into a match and pretty much determine the outcome due to my gear and my friends gear. On the other side, people aren't having fun getting crushed. What is the point of solo queue players if the only way to fight the best premades is to gear up, and to gear up they need to lose 1000 games for a few pieces of armor...if they are lucky.

Nothing against your post, it was well thought out. The only problem with it was that it was just wrong.

Test the issue bioware, see which side is telling the truth, then fix the issue.

    1. That wasn't the scenario I depicted at all. Yes, a fully geared 100 valor mara would destroy a recruit gear mara. That wasn't a fair statement. And like I said that wasn't the scenario I depicted. The only time gear would matter is when 2 players of equal skill fight each other and if both are any good they'll both be geared to begin with. So it's moot.

    2. Nothing wrong with only playing 1-2 hours a day. PVP or PVE whichever you choose. It's your money and I have no qualms about how people spend their time. However, if you aren't willing to earn your stripes or get geared then you can't possibly expect to be competitive. And there is nothing wrong with that, but you certainly can't complain about others who choose to invest the time and effort to become great at the game.

    3. Again that's fine, be a casual pvp'er but then don't complain about the competition. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I find it odd you attribute your success to "your gear and your friends gear" So when everybody in the WZ is geared, what determines the outcome of the match, RNG? Gear only takes you so far. Skill > Gear simple as that. And Im not talking recruit. Anyone can be full BM in like a week. So the recruit gear argument is moot. You put a 60 valor player in full WH against a 90 valor in BM/WH or full BM for that matter, the 90 valor will win more often than not. Experience, skill and knowledge are king.

And I don't understand pug farming. If you and your friends have PUG's on farm, you must be fully geared already, so what's left to farm? On POT5 since the merger, I haven't played against a full 8-man pug. They have always had SOME form of premade in there. How do people know if it's a pug to begin with? If they don't have the same guild tag that makes them a pug? I know plenty of guilded players that have friends in other guilds that play together in premades.

Which server/guild are you a part of?

  12. WOOT! I just read over the patch notes, and it looks like they changed around the only nerf to commando/merc that I didn't like...

    http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes

    - No mention of the reduction of snare to 30% for sweltering heat for assault! Yea!! And vanguard still got their nerf!

Commando is going to be much, much more competitive vs powertech/vanguards after this patch. Can't wait.

    That is great news!

  13. Roll a Pyro Merc for Deeps. That's what I run and I put up huge numbers. The class is a blast to play. Arsenal is below average in PVP unless you have a dedicated guard and/or a pocket healer, even then it's only average. I haven't met an exceptional Arsenal Merc yet. Too much is required to make an Arsenal Merc shine. Pyro on the other hand, you're a beast all by yourself.
  14. You obviously don't PVP on my server. Most 50-PUGGERS are quite good and experienced, but ofc ew also have the newbies an recruit and/or greens. But when we hit certain coordinated premades, there's just no comparison and it becomes a stomp-fest. Those WZ'es aren't funny.

NB: Premades are (by definition) 2+ players teaming up.

2 is a premade? Well that's just silly. Im on POT5 now, formerly from The Fatman. Most "good" pvp'ers are guilded and the ones who aren't run with friends, they rarely if ever solo Q.

  15. What constitutes a premade? You and a buddy? You and two buddies, or you and three buddies? Lumping 16 solo Q'ers together for a WZ would do more harm than good. It would stifle the ability to become better. It would promote poor communication, unorganized play, TDM and general zerging. All of which are terrible habits for people to learn and will really hurt them when they do try to do a rated.
  16. I've read all 13 pages waiting for 1.4 to drop and I will put in my 2 cents (keep in mind this goes for Regular Warzones because if you are QQ'ing about premades you have no business running rateds):

    1) Player Skill/Experience/Knowledge > Gear any day of the week, period.

One skilled Mara/Jugg/PT etc. in full BM vs. one less skilled/experienced/knowledgeable Mara/Jugg/PT will win that fight more often than not. Players aren't limited by gear in WZ's , they are limited by skill/experience/knowledge which is gained through experience, by playing the game, by winning AND losing. Which brings me to my next point:

    2) Solo Queuing/Pugging WZ's should make you better.

I'll use my own experience as an example. I exclusively solo Q'd for WZ's before I had friends or a guild. I lost a lot. It was frustrating. At the time I didn't know what it took to win on the different maps ie strats or general knowledge etc. I didn't give up and decided to get better, to learn from the experiences both good and bad. School of hard knocks if you will. Over time I got better and better, having more fun in the process but more importantly making friends in the PVP community. Which brings me to my next point:

    3) Make friends.

Making friends will make your experience PVP'ing infinitely better. See the thing with PVP'ers is skilled/experienced/knowledgeable players take notice of one another and gravitate towards each other. Some become friends others enemies. Wow, so and so is a good heals/deeps, or he is knowledgeable ie knows how to rotate/call for help, burn a healer (so-on and so-forth)...add to friends list. The better I got, the more quality PVP friends I made. You need experienced/knowledgeable friends or quality players to run with in WZ's to be consistently successful. I don't think that is up for debate. You yourself have to be on the right path to make these friends, you can't be a fresh 50 and expect to be pals with the upper-tiered players, you gotta earn your stripes. Respect is earned, not given. I'll quote one of my buddies: "It takes the Rakata to get the Rakata" I'm not saying a 4-man premade is required, but your chances of wining will be increase when you make friends and run with like-minded players.

Quickly I'll go over some other issues brought up:

    A) Communicate. Vent is ideal, but you have a keyboard right? Communicate before and during the match. And FFS don't make late calls: "2 inc grass" after you're dead.

    B) If you don't have friends or you have friends that aren't on, post in general chat "DPS/Heals/Tank LFG 50 WZ" A good rule of thumb is try to get a healer a tank and 2 DPS. However, anything is better than going it alone

    C) Know your class. Learn what you are best suited to do and do it.

    D) Don't Team-Death match.

  17. Demonsong isn't the one boasting; they have nothing to prove, and no reason to tell you who they are. Frankly, I don't see the point of that comment.

    Anyway, moving on.

Personally, I like dueling, and if I can't do that, it upsets me. The real point here, however, is that a sniper has better group utility and better 1v1 capability than a mercenary, meaning that it is always better to have a sniper on a team than a mercenary, and due to their poor 1v1 capability, mercs can often be something of a weak link, taking up resources (healing, peels, etc.) that they wouldn't if they were just about any other class.

Top DPS on the team is a hindrance to the team I guess? Too bad you don't get objectives for burning healers and stopping caps.
