  1. The idea is for you to NOT use it every 8 seconds. I imagine we'll see a reduction in the damage it causes as the patch continues to be tested, but their idea is for you to not just cast it after every jedi healing beam you use, and instead be more reserved and tactical in its use. NS, without resplendance, is an ability that gives you some force back, but at a cost. With resplendance, it simply becomes a free force button. They're trying to introduce the cost back into the ability to healers so that healers don't just use it constantly.
  2. I'm a bit confused about the armour too. I wonder if something happened, since there's a clear star-wars influence on MOST of the game's armour(even to a flaw, with every jedi knight having a hood after about level 15 until eternity), but at the top end some of it just veers off into crazytown. This armour resides mostly in crazytown, where some influence can be seen in some pieces but almost all of them look weird. I remember someone saying in an interview that their artists hated them for having to design a lot of things. I think... I think they're trying to get back at you, dev team.
  3. Tracer Missile/Grav round have a cast time increase and do less damage. They did nerf missile spammers.
  4. Yeah, those are literally our 46s they gave to the alignment abilities. Ours have way shorter cooldowns, but still.
  5. So I guess Consulars/Inquisitors are getting another ability at 46? Cause they stole ours for the alignment abilities.
  6. The corruption of senators is a plot point for a reason, it allows the character to engage in the political process with an obvious antagonist. Most of those end in an arrested or dead corrupt official, too. And man, are you people really arguing that an obviously facist slave state is a good place? Are you really that terrible? Cmon.
  7. The empire pretty much falls apart. After all, what the sith have built isn't sustainable and will eventually just crumble away; like all fascist regimes. That's a pretty big part of star wars. Evil, no matter how powerful it seems, can't last forever. Empire players who say that the empire seems stronger than the republic just haven't gotten to the end of their story. I actually think it's rather well done, the empire seems all powerful and everyone is afraid of it, but then it starts to come apart at the seams. And seeing it happen as a republic character is pretty satisfying. When people say that the empire is catered to, they're normally looking for reasons why the imbalance is so heavy. I don't think you can put the blame totally on bioware for that, people like to be evil. I can't quite understand it myself, as I couldn't get past DK on my beta agent after they told me to kill slaves rebelling. That's not a story I want to be part of. But like it or not, people love to be evil in games. I do think you can put some blame on bioware for making evil not have the weight it should. As an imperial, you're part of a fascist, genocidal, enslaving war-mongering state. And you do some awful awful things. But since you're still a player and are required to live, have people be available to you, and can change at any time, things don't have the punch they should. You shouldn't feel like a ****** who's good deep down after you kill an entire race. That's the sort of thing that turns you into an irredeemable monster that absolutely everyone hates. Instead, that can just be a misstep. You're not damned for that. Without consequence, evil is a hollow construct and has no storytelling potential. But most of all, the reason people say the empire is catered to is because in many cases it is extremely obvious that the empire classes are the progenitors of class mechanics. Why does stock strike take ammo? Well, cause Bounty Hunters use heat and their melee attack is a jet powered punch. Why does the balance tree revolve around telekinetic throw? Well, cause Inquisitors have Palpatine lightning as that ability. What's the deal with Stasis? Well, force choke is there for Warriors, and... Darth Vader. Why does ammo regenerate anyway? Cause bounty hunters have to worry about overheating. ETC. Add to that the ability discrepancies that pretty much uniformly benefit the empire(Mortar Strike, Full Auto, Dirty Kick...), and it's hard to not look at the empire as the faction that the game was built around.
  8. http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/20080602 is my favorite A miscarriage is definitely not a joke, and I have no intention of making light of it. And it can be a tough and emotional thing for couples to go through, speaking from personal experience. And I know that it's often much harder on the woman than on the man. However, I also know that it doesn't necessarily turn you into a sad, depressed sack of tears for the rest of your life. People can move past it, and heal.
  9. I can't believe that this topic is alive and well still. Cmon people. Are you paying attention to the game you're playing?
  10. EXACTLY. How can anything else you say sound too silly for the EU?
  11. But Jedi only have one thing with a bare midriff, and that's if you're a sentinel. And troopers and scoundrels don't have anything revealing at all unless they're gimping themselves and using light cosmetic armour or that one model. Female troopers look like male troopers, as, honestly, female bounty hunters look like male ones. Only SI have scant clothing. Like I said OP come republic. We're better over here.
  12. I'm not that big of a star wars fan. I've never read any of the books or anything, although I've watched the movies and played most of the games. But even to my perspective, the EU's gone dangerously off the rails. I've had fun telling people true things that happen in the EU and false things that happen in the EU and they have no idea which is which. A gigantic lightsaber that destroys planets? A race of dinosaur people? A race of lemurs? A ship that runs through stars? Light Sided force lightning? I can make up almost anything with that as my guide and it could possibly exist in star wars. A large part of the EU can just be described as stupid, let alone the problems with narrative and tone. Star wars is redemption and hope, the triumph of good on a galactic scale. Things can be dark and stuff can look bad, but it's a classic tale of good vs. evil, and it's one where good wins. Trying to clumsily change that just sends the whole universe out of whack. To take a nerdy example, it'd be like if there were unofficial official novels written about after the fall of Sauron that had the orcs come back and Sauron still living somehow. And the descendants of Sam end up turning into murderers. You can't do that, you screw up the universe by screwing up the tone of it. I think what needs to happen over there is not just a clean slate, but some real honest creative control. They need to figure out what the tone of their universe is gonna be and how things are supposed to play out. This whole N, C, S, G business isn't control, it's an excuse for loose management of their brand. When you've got sliding scales of what counts in your universe, you don't have a universe. Also making it dark and edgy like your black metal is literally the worst idea I've ever heard guy. Stop it, you have terrible ideas and worse taste.
  13. To be fair, there's very very few pieces that look like that. And as a republic character, aside from the one medium armour jedi tunic and the social clothing you buy form hutts, I've seen nothing like that. I want to take this as a design decision to hammer home that the empire is a bad place and the sith are bad people, since even the most powerful sith lords are objectified, but it doesn't feel that way to me. The whole empire feels like people have been tugging it in different directions, trying to show it's a horrible place and a horrible thing, but also making it into an evil power fantasy. So you can abuse slaves and kill entire races, but you're also awesome and not that bad of a guy deep down. When yeah no, you can't have both of those if you want your story to have any meaning. Basically I'm saying come play Republic. We win in the end anyway.
  14. Yeah, it did... exactly what it wasn't supposed to do. The initial is gone now and the first tic is still doubled.
  15. You guys DO realize we're the only class that can use all those social armours as armour sets, right? I hope you do. Cause there's a lot of pants from there. I don't know why anyone demands tights, but you can get them from most of the planets social vendors, with the exception of Tatooine, Voss Nar Shadda and Coruscant.
  16. act 2 for the consular is pretty boss. JK is supposed to have a good act 2 as well. And if you wanted to be a privateer the whole time, smuggler act 2 is pretty great.
  17. I'm actually surprised that people have issues finding their character's motivation. I play a consular, and play along side a smuggler and a trooper. Not only are our motivations and goals clear in our class stories, the planet story tends to have pretty clear cut goals as well. Overarching goals may be hard to see, but that's cause they're internal. As an interactive game, what your character wants to do eventually is up to you, the player. I also guess things are very different for the stories I didn't see. Each act 1 story had a clear antagonist, 2 of which were from the prologue. The consular first faced an abstract enemy, but as the story progressed it became clear who I was facing, as well as learning bits and pieces as to why. I'm not going to defend the writing as powerful stuff, but from what I've seen lacking goals and enemies aren't issues with it.
  18. I wonder about this too. I hope the initial heal isn't being removed, that'd be less than great.
  19. I don't know why people wouldn't get why you'd want the same last name as others. My brother and I had a habit of choosing the same last names in a lot of games, cause... we're brothers. On RP servers this has got to have people going crazy, people love to marry each other and have kids and be related to each other. I get the idea behind making the surname unique, but not being able to be related when there's a last name system in the game is kinda wierd.
  20. The issue isn't current looks. You can find stuff that looks great, I look like a jedi *** jedi and I have several ways to do it. The issue is that high end sets and some middlin' sets go straight into inconsequential prequel character town. I've got a hood, and a robe with a hood down, but I hide all my helmets cause they're either ridiculous or minor. The design seems wild and it's hit or miss.
  21. Since the base jedi look is so simple, it's unsurprising that they try to add to it. The issue is that we end up in clothes that look like the characters no one liked or cared about in the prequels rather than interesting spins on the jedi idea. There are some I've seen that I really like, the omenbringer stuff, the jedi initiate stuff, the high end pvp set until it gets shoulder pads, the thing you wear at character creation... but I haven't seen a piece of headgear that I don't want to hide or gloves that aren't weird looking. I don't even mind the robe look, better than skin tight pants. But some of the high end sets just look silly.
  22. I feel kinda upset that my melee attacks are getting weaker too, but that's only cause I'm spoiled from the loremaster in lotro. I think if Tumult was a well aimed or flashy lightsaber attack, it'd fill an important character gap for us sages. We just have no reason to ever use our lightsaber at all, and that feels weird.
