  3. So I went through the guide and issued the command prompts. It computed stats for a 150 seconds and basically came back and said 0/100 so lost zero and sent 100 for 0% package lost on every hop. Any clue what to do if I'm experiencing constant connection issues but zero packet loss in the trace?
  4. Is it a bioware issue then? Or is there a way to get a different trace route?
  5. hey all, Been playing off and on since launch. Have the fastest internet I've ever had. Running windows 10 in high performance mode. Have no trouble in other games. Haven't had any trouble with ping after the server merges. Was away for a month and just came back and now on both NA servers I have ping issues. I sit at 38-42 ping and then it jumps from 4 bars to 1 or red dot or sometimes red x and even disconnect. This is happening regularly and throughout all activities - on fleet, on planets, on my stronghold, in pvp, etc. I have restarted my modem. Nothing is running in the background. ping in other games is amazing. Any thoughts on what to do? it's super frustrating atm. Thanks for any help.
  6. Yeah, I am missing a whole legacy bank of items that included season one crystals. Not too happy. I have had so many terrible interactions with customer service though that I am not putting in a ticket. Why add a bad experience to a bad experience? I'll just stack it on the pile of reasons to not continue playing this game.
  7. I was remembering when I would level through pvp to get enough comms to purchase ranked gear once I hit max level. I did that even when there was a cap on how many pvp comms you could save, and we had to purchase pvp items and resell them before the timer to sell them back expired. Gearing seemed to take forever but that way I could be of a somewhat equal footing in pvp while I leveled and then not at a disadvantage when I reached max level. That system drove me bonkers in certain ways. I even remember forgetting to sell my weapons a couple times and having rows of useless pvp weapons left in my inventory, and I would get so pissed at all the effort/time that I just threw in the crapper, but back then at least I could pvp on all my characters regardless of what level they were. Matches popped at every level all the time. I let my sub run out a week after 5.0 launched, but just recently resubbed for a month. I go for hours on hours without a midbie pop on TEH at times. Are there any servers where low and mid level pvp pop regularly? (preferably east coast). I'll still predominately play my main, but it would be nice to have an escape of that monotony at times.
  8. do warzones pop? does anyone do ranked?
  9. been this way forever....can hear game sounds, but not the war zone pop for some reason
  10. so I quit a week after 5.0 dropped so maybe that's why I haven't heard it as well. Came back for a month to see if I could get into the good feels again of playing but almost everyone I played with is playing something else it seems.
  11. yeah, mostly why I stay away from the forums, but I'm at work and bored. Thread is amusing and frustrating at the same time, but true to swtor for sure. Gives me the same feels as playing does most days lol
  12. This thread... I rarely post on the forums, but for some reason I feel a need to speak to bring it back to the definition of skank tank. A few disclaimers... 1. only have heard the term in this game, not how it has been used in other games. 2. been playing off and on since launch 3. I have nothing invested in TSI. Ebon Hawk has been my main server for a long time now. 4. I understand the definition may have progressed as people have misunderstood the term 5. not trying to demonstrate the prowess of my "come up" but... Starting out "skank tank" meant dps specced players who would guard in pvp. Some peeps saved a set of tank gear in their inventory to use for this (or at least a shield) and would switch into it if they thought it would be to their benefit once they loaded into a match. Mostly a tactic used in yolos when you were in a 3dps/1healer comp, and the dps on the other team didn't have a skank tank themselves so you could provide some damage mitigation for your healer. This was skank tanking. This was before guarding was available to sins/juggs and their pub counterparts in any spec without the use of a shield and at the cost of switching from a dps stance to a tanking one in order to guard. So people may use the term to describe tanks in dps gear now, but when people started using it, I only ever heard it mentioned in regard to dps specced players swapping stances and guarding other players in pvp, and did not hear it used to describe tanks simply in dps gear until this thread. The more you know...
  13. I just don't agree that there is as big a disadvantage as is being said. At least in my experience there hasn't been.
  14. I play 70 pvp all the time on multiple characters in last years gear - most have only 208's. My operative has the 248 main hand and some 230 gear now, and I haven't really noticed that much of a difference. I do tire with how slow the command ranks come and how the gear I receive doesn't seem to do anything because it is all under the bolster level anyway. Still, waiting till you have bis to pvp at 70 doesn't seem like something a "real" pvper would do. This game is the same as it always has been and always will be: Class balance changes come infrequently and there are always fotm. Gear hardly matters, but makes a little difference. Understanding your class and having situational awareness isn't hard, but many players aren't there yet. premades of competent players who simply mark or call targets can wreck noobs Those premades can still be defeated by groups of randoms that know what they are doing. People rage in regs and ranked. There are a lot of fun people who play. There are a ton of weird and angry people who play. Bolster gets you to 238. If you can play your class, I would think you could compete in 70 pvp no problem no matter your gear.
  15. Same day communication that actually acknowledges when something is a problem actually goes a long way. Thanks for your post. The more you openly and honestly communicate with this community the more you'll be loved here.
  16. Tier 1 (230) and 2 (236?) gear just bolsters to 238 right now anyway though? Do I have that right?
  17. I am trying to remember pre 3.3 and if that was when I would level through pvp only and buy and return pvp weapons before the timer ran out to save comms past the level limit, and then buy full ranked gear when I got to max level I hear ya.. I have some 230 gear now and by next week should have the t4 main hand just through components. And I'm not really noticing too much of a difference yet as my gear is slowly changing. And I know there are options. I just like to gear up through pvp. I don't have a ton of credits, and I have never really done max level pve in this game even though I've played off and on since launch. I just need to start researching operations and asking around fleet on how to jump in on them I guess. meh though. doesn't excite me at all.
  18. Ah I see. Absurd yes, but also reflective of how the current gear grind feels. I think I can sympathize because I just came back, and while pvp in 208 gear doesn't actually feel "that bad" to me, the grind ahead to get bis gear seems like such a big task to me that I feel unable to enjoy pvp on any other class and at any other level than my 70 operative. I also used to play on multiple servers and that doesn't seem like a feasible choice either. I do get the point you are making though about levels/skills/passives/gear gap in low and mid level pvp.
  19. I think that's kind of an over generalization. I just came back (left a few days after 5.0 came out) and though I'm playing 70's only, it can be very underwhelming and not much fun to be constantly at the bottom in terms of potential dps/hps/protection and not see a clear end in sight to when it may change cause you're only Command level 15 or whatever. There are moments I still have most kills, highest dps or whatever on my concealment operative in all 208 gear, but that says more about the match, players, the game itself than any skill of mine. Mediocre performance can be top performance in many scenarios, especially in regs. But there are those days you constantly come up against premades of skilled players, playing fotm classes with bis gear, and in that scenario the gear gap is "felt" much more than it is in mids or lowbies for players who are not new to the game. In the past especially I would play low level pvp to escape a constant barrage of premades like that for a little and have some low pressure fun, even if it meant wrecking face. Sometimes I don't want only challenge and defeat and having the potential to absolutely wreck face can be super fun! When you head into low level pvp to escape the endless feeling of hitting and surviving like a wet noodle and then you come against a premade of skilled/bolstered players with all their skills and such, I can see why that would be discouraging. I don't think that's the norm though. In my experience there are normally mediocre players in every match at every level that you can flex your pvp muscles upon and get any face wrecking jollies you need.
  20. This should read as how people categorize and think about other classes no matter how off base they are, all because they got rekt at one point or another by a certain class or premade of some sort or don't understand the classes well enough to counter in regs...
  21. saw your other post thanking the devs for making mercs "fun" but honestly I don't have fun on my merc anymore, though its nice to not get facerolled. They are op, and the changes were over the top. Balance isn't terrible tbh besides that, but honestly I'm either bored or frustrated depending on what class I'm playing, so for me, it's not that "fun". It's fine entertainment, and I don't take swtor pvp that seriously, but whatevs. At least the devs are consistent in how badly they balance things. I wouldn't agree with you on that being a good thing - what they did with mercs. Poor balancing is poor balancing, no matter who's day in the sun it is.
  22. balance frequent small changes & interested devs

    Warzones..

All you have to do is group with a sub and have them queue..... free warzones for life. If you are having trouble getting one person to group with you, it's a bigger issue than the limitations.

    Warzones..

Just group up with anyone who's a sub and have them queue yo... literally you can play as many regs as you want
  25. ye seems like TEH for pubs and shadowlands or JC for imp side pvp at 65. But to add to that... Premades and bads are everywhere, so no server has perfect queues, especially if you are pugging. Whenever there is a leveling event and also with newly bought level 60's there are just a lot of people running around that don't know how to play their class well. I find that no matter where I play, I'm bound to be frustrated at some point for a bit, so I play multiple servers and move around when one tires me. Grouping with friends is essential to enjoying pvp in this game though for sure. For me personally, though, I'd go beyond that and say grouping with friends who know their class and are capable players makes it most enjoying. The other side of that is that streamrolling puggs gets boring fast though. just my 2 cents.
