  1. Absolutely this. I have been playing MMO's since UO, and this problem persists in every game where it's relevant. Many games have addressed this with gear, rewards, and multiple specs, and it never resolves the issue. The bottom line is most people play for fun, and tanking and healing is not fun for everyone.
  2. Google Maximum PC budget computer. You will get a lot of options. Then look for each part at different sites. newegg is actually pretty good for parts.
  3. Actually, you can only skip them when you leave the planet. When you arrive you still have to go there first.
  4. too many pages so I apologize if someone said this. While I recognize specific names are important to people, I find it hard to believe people are quitting because they cannot find alternate names. Names I have been using in MMOs for almost 20 years (started in UO) are not available, it never takes more than 2 tries to find another one. WoW had 12 mil accounts at one point, with 50 potential toons per. People still found names (some of them were bad, but...) As far as first and last names, UO had them in 1995. Last names had to be unique, but first names did not. It worked wonderfully. Why MMOs can't/don't do that now I don't understand.
  5. I have also been running Windows 8 RTM on a couple computers. I installed it on an SSD as well as SWTOR. I have seen a good increase in speed and load times, and Windows 8 is pretty solid. The New interface takes a little getting used to but once you do it is not a problem. All the negative hype is just that, it's a solid OS and is basically a performance update to Win 7. The every other version curse does not apply to Win 8.
  6. I don't get this, are you saying once you get a datacron all your tunes should have it? If that is the case, please no. This would mean new characters would potentially have 68-72+ to each stat at creation, making them slightly OP to start out. All toons should have to earn the stat bonuses gained from each datacron. Plus, Datacrons are optional.
  7. Don't be tempted, you will lose a lot more than $30.
  8. To me that isn't worth rushing to 50 for and missing the stories and the first run through for each faction. But I love the leveling process and don't really care for end game in any mmo's I have played. I've been playing them since UO.
  9. a) agree to a point, too much in-game instructions removes the immersion, but some help is useful. You should never be shy about asking for help in the forums, it's why they are here. b) there is no reward for getting to 50 in a rush. Play the game the way you want. I have been playing for 5 months and still don't have a 50. I have a 42, 2 in their 30's and the rest 20's (all classes). I take my time, do all the quests within reason, and just enjoy the story. I love all of the class stories so far.
  10. I like the noble/diplomat idea, and a non-combat (mostly) class could be fun for me, but I don't think it would win over enough people to make it worth the dev's time. However, I have always been a fan of pet classes in games, and I think it could be done, even with companions. With a pet, Presence could be the primary stat and you are not stepping on the existing classes. I haven't thought out how it could work in more detail, but I think it could be done.
  11. Well, this is 3000+ yrs in the past, maybe those sounds weren't invented yet. It would lose immersion for me if everything was unchanged (which it mostly hasn't, I know) for 3000 yrs. /sarcasm off It does seem a little weird to me that in this technologically advanced universe the technology hasn't really advanced much after all that time.
