  3. What spec are you? I'd suggest Leg Shot on the companion and try drawing them away. Use your CCs for the companion because they will eat the full duration. AFTER CC's DoT the companion, as the AI will spend time to heal even the smallest amount of damage. Aside from that, put your companion on their companion to split the damage. Flourish the tank and kite 'em. Also, interrupt is your friend! Add: You have several defensive abilities. Hunker for sure but unless they are 36? A Jugg is limited in getting you out of cover (They have Force Choke and Force Push). Pulse to knock them away, remember Flourish!, Sab Charge, Aimed Shot... if you are able to CC their companion for even a little bit, the damage you deliver SHOULD be enough to kill the Jugg.
  4. This is the mentality that gets plenty of people killed. To the OP, only Scoundrels can knock you on your face. Gunslingers only have moves to knock you back or away. The heavy hitting numbers you saw could've been from a plethora of abilities. Most likely Trickshot, Aimed Shot and Quickdraw.
  5. DF and Sab slow down once you get to the higher level planets. I leveled Sharps all the to 46, tried both Sab and DF at those levels -- Voss ate my face. The AoE and quick Therms are cool and fun but you'll run out of energy just to finish off a kill. Elite and Boss mobs require too much that I found DF and Sab didn't have. Those are MY personal experience. Pick a spec that interests you the most and that you plan on end gaming, level with the spec, and get to know it inside and out. I am so comfortable with SharpS I can't imagine being anything else. At 50 I spec'd DF for 3 or 4 straight nights of PvP and immediately went back to Sharpy. The smuggler is mos def the 'to each their own' type of class.

  7. It wasn't recharging for me regardless. I've proc'd Volley and spammed CB until my energy ran low.
  8. So before I comment on that spec, what does Cover Screen actually do? Does it give you defense against ranged attacks? Or give you defense for your ranged class? I have put my points into Trip Shot for the reduced CD on Leg Shot and I skip Diversion. I hate that talent. The Snipers I fight are half retarded and they ALL use portable cover. I rarely see them Hunker so I prefer to toss my Flash Grenade or walk up and Pulse them out. There aren't ever enough that use their equiv of Diversion so I get to free cast pretty much all the time. This is what I am currently using: http://www.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/gunslinger/21/?build=023012222020210121200000000000233002201210000000000000000030000000000000000000000000 And this is what I am respecing to: http://www.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/gunslinger/21/?build=023012222020210121200500010000230002000000000000000000000030000000000000000000000000
  9. My message are yellow! (Duh! Stupid /10 char).
  10. I thought that was working as intended. I don't think it would refresh off of Trick Shot anywho, you only gain stacks from CB. However, if it is supposed to refresh it would make the talent worth it. I've completely taken it out of my PvE and PvP builds. /bug that suckah. I will when I get off work.
  11. I think many people came to this class because of the BIG NUMBERS in those youtube vids. Sit there and press Aimed Shot and get a 4K crit? LULZ EYE KEN DO DAT! Upon rolling many, MANY people are finding out those vids were against terrible people and Gunslinger takes more of what other classes don't.
  12. Do.Not.Spam.Charged Burst. You might not be able to help it being a lower level but you can past 20-25ish. Try and use filler shots, every other shot a Flurry. Its free and very decent damage. Don't fear the Cool Head! Use it, use it, use it! If you are spamming CB, not using Cool Head, avoiding Flurry and trying to burst through a Jugg then you are doing it wrong.
  13. This is correct. I can confirm it will stack 4 times during it's channel.
  14. Yes. I will drop in cover constantly for the instant CB and get mobile with Trick Shot. One of my favorite combos.
  15. Yea, it get's tough. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the Sab spec, I do. Hell, I love the Gunslinger. However, I will be using Sab for my PvPing.
  16. That stops once you get to Quesh and on. It may even stop in Balmorra, didn't play a Sab then. They don't have the mmph that a Sharpshooter has. I about drowned a kitten when I noticed that I had no energy, popped Cool Head, and a group was still alive while grinding Voss. The rotation was so much smoother with Sharpy and I had no problems with my healer companion (I know his name but left out for spoilers) taking down Elite/Boss mobs. Tell me how you handle that as a Sab, I know I had a rough time. And others in this thread seem to have had the same experience.
  17. In terms of energy, Sab spec is the second best spec on energy out of the Gunslingers. You don't have the ability Sabotage at 21 but it makes energy a lot more managable. When used it will instantly refresh Cool Head. Now, in terms of PvE it's a difficult spec to play. Personally I believe it's the worst PvE spec out of the 3 Slinger trees but it can be viable. Yes, in PvE mobility will win the day and you will have very high damage output, second to Dirty Fighters. I am 46 and have tried all three specs for grinding and it's very cumbersome to solo with. I will gladly update you in a week or so when we get a healer on our server at 50 but I don't think there will be many Sabs high ending PvE content.
  18. - Extend his ability row using the tilde key (`/~) next to the 1 key. - Right click Harpoon Shot, which will take off the green bubble on the ability. As stated, whenever he has to go away and come out, which includes zoning to new area via elevator, you WILL have to turn it back off.
  19. Played all three specs at 46. I currently spec'd back to Marksman as I finish my grind to 50. DF is an awesome spec but my two gripes with it are: Energy consumption and the setup. While any decent player will work around it, those two things are the trade-off for it's unbelievable damage. Currently, you will lose a great deal of energy --in turn damage output-- in a team fight. Even with Cool Head and DoT crits restoring 2 energy (I don't know the talent name), you simply kill people too quickly to receive a decent return. Bomb a group and pray you will get the crits/energy to unleash hell. The setup for this spec is heavy. Hemo, Vital, Bomb will do less then 10% of a players health intially. Those are all required to ensure you get the most out of Wounding Shots. Not factoring in Flurry for fillers, Pulse or Leg Shot for distance, Defensive Screen or Dodge to survive; you may find it hard to keep your DoTs and energy up to maximize your output. I've found through trial and error you'll want to use Defensive Screen whenever it's off CD. It's very easy to get behind in a fight but the insane amount of damage will almost guarantee you walk away. DF Smugglers have crazy mobility OR can position themselves and play like a Marksman, making this spec very versatile. I'd strongly suggest anyone thinking about this spec to keep at range. Do not play this class in melee range, as a Scoundrel would. You do not belong there. Mind your DoTs and do NOT be afraid to play aggressively. If a fight turns ugly power through it. I've walked away from fights I was sure I had lost. Dodge + Defensive Screen early on and Cover + Pulse + Scramble if things start to get ugly. Most importantly keep at it. The Smuggler class overall has a steep learning curve and playing the DF or even Sab spec takes time and patience.
