  1. I have a Razer Naga that I quit using. No matter what I would do to adjust it, the stinking thing would not click properly. I'd have to double or triple click something. This caused me great consternation playing CoH and SW. Never again.
  2. CoH/CoV is up to i22 now. Some major things have happened and there are a number of impressive improvements. Like...um.. Graphics...yeah can't really compare them straight across. However, SW graphics are wonderful and in a class of its own in my opinion. I'm extremely happy with both games. However, SW is my first choice to play right now.
  3. I am a four and half year veteran player of CoH/CoV. CoH is or was my very first MMO game. I originally bought the game when it originally released on December 20. It took me a while to get where I could load it up and play. I am glad that I did. I absolutely love playing that game. The graphics, stories, and environment, are simply stunning. That is, or should I say was, until I logged into SW: TOR. SW graphics are in a class above CoH. The universe as a whole is amazingly wonderful. Comparing it to CoH is not fair as they are two completely different settings and genre. Every world I have landed on has astounded me. I am on Taris with my Sage. I have just stood there looking around and shook my head. Such clarity that you can almost believe it is a real view. The progressive stories for each class are outstanding. Not boring, very entertaining, only to cause your heart rate to go up as you engage in whatever opponent you face. I spent the last 3 weeks playing SW: TOR exclusively and have not logged into CoH maybe three times and did not play long. I subscribe to both games, as I have found two that fulfill my desire to RP or play in, Sci-Fi and Super Heroes. I will soon find my balance between both and enjoy my time playing both.
  4. Well, since I started playing this game 2 weeks ago (yeah I know newbie), I am not sure how 1.2 will affect me simply because I have not had enough time to develop my Sage yet. However, after reading all the opinions on what is coming in this new update, I can understand their concerns. I've suffered through some nerfs with many of my CoH/CoV characters. I think the best action for anyone is to study and understand what these new changes will do, find a way (as mentioned elsewhere) to adapt and overcome. I am sure there is a way to make this happen. It will just take time to find the route to do so. Therefore, I will keep trucking and enjoy what I am doing. I hope the rest of you can too.
  5. Greets Elrathion, thank you for this thread. I cut my teeth playing CoH, so I am very familiar with using enhancements to increase abilities. However, TOR is radically different in its approach. I am still trying to master PvE and using the tree before I venture into any PvP setting. Currently, I am running a Sage and a Shadow, the former I team with and the later, I solo. My Shadow (24) I would like advice on how to use the tree to increase survivability, increase my DPS, and make my infiltration more effective. Can you advise me on this? Likewise, my Sage (21) I want to ensure my healing can handle the damage I am seeing now as my levels increase. Therefore, I want to focus on that as well as my TK powers, and in some fashion, enhance my survivability. Can you advise me on this too? Now, as a new player to this game, I am still trying to figure out the use of the enhancements such as armor, mods, and enhancements. Now, I know that WP is my focus, so using the above with high WP number mods is critical. However, in reading the information about "Crits/power," is somewhat confusing. I know WP directly effects Force, Endurance, hit points. Is it important for me to have WP/End for all three slots? Should I focus on adding in Crit/Power for my Shadow in one slot or a combo Enhancements that is WP/End/Power or whatever if available? Likewise, should I do the same for my Sage? From the information and any examples you can give, I will be able to learn from those so I can properly adjust my other characters. Thanks.
  6. This question will elicit some subjective answers, answers based on opinions and personal preference. I am playing both types right now. The best answer to your question in my opinion is...they both are. The Sage excels in what it was designed for, healing and long-range attacks. Whereas they Shadow, excels in its design purpose, tanking, and DPS. They both use the force to throw things; however, the Sage's range is incredibly longer and does more damage. The Shadow's lightsaber melee attack far exceeds what a Sage can do with their lightsaber. The drawback for both is their armor. At a minimum, medium armor should be the Shadow's armor of choice, not light armor. A Shadow can engage in melee combat and do well; however, not as a well as a Jedi Knight Sentinel or Guardian. The Sage can hold his or her own for a little while, then they have to look for an escape avenue or face plant. For their designed purposes, they are both very good. It comes down to personal preference. I like them both. I use my Sage primarily in a support role. I concentrate on healing when necessary or I'm raining giant chunks of street or shot gunning them with rocks. Sometimes, I find myself in melee after I've aggro'd some of the spawn. I'll use my force jump to back them off of me and use my force throwing powers on the survivors as quickly as I can recharge. However, most of the time, before it gets ugly, Qyzen comes to my rescue before I begin an intimate study of the ground. My Shadow...oh I love to abuse my stealth and unleash as much hate on my target when I can. I use my Shadow more like a Special Operator to infiltrate and reach my objective with minimum combat until I've achieved my objective, then it's on! Now that my character is at lvl 23, she is really starting to show me what's she's capable of. I expect to have some exciting moments with my Shadow. I'm having a blast with both. I suspect that after I reach 50, I'll work on my Sentinel and Guardian...after I get my Sith Assassin and Marauder leveled up.
  7. The weapons vender on Nar Shaddaa has lvl 22 tech blade for 1300 iirc. However, on Coruscant, you can by a lvl 15 tech blade from the weapons vendor under the senate building. I don't recall the cost; however, it wasn't all that bad.
  8. Jorus' post mirrors my own feelings. I have a number of characters at various levels right now. However, I have a Sage (teamed up) and a Shadow (solo) that I share playing time on. SW MMO is new for me and I'm enjoying the entire storyline. I was 17 when SW first came out and I've loved the universe since. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game play and storyline. Oops...I just dated myself. Anyway, I'm having a blast and for me, that's what matters the most.
  9. I'm late to this discussion; however, I did read through most of it and found the lack of a modable techblade a bit frustrating. However, after reading that 1.2 resolves this issue, I was satisfied. That said, this weekend while on Naa Shadaa, I picked up a really cool level 22 Techblade for Qyzen. I was given a choice for a Reinforced version of his original blade. It didn't even come close. He does better damage now and so far, I'm pleased with how I have him equipped.
  10. Thank you for the information. This weekend, I leveled my Shadow from 15 through Taris to 23 leaving Nar Shaddaa on to my next mission. I am concentrating on the Kinetic tree mainly. However, I have slotted points in Infiltration and Balance for certain powers that I felt were beneficial to my character. I did notice a remarkable difference in survivability after reach level 20 and moreso after reaching 23. Throwing rocks and large chunks of debris (including R2D2), is my primary means of attack followed up by other mind tricks. I try to support giant lizard friend. Now that I have the playboy, Cedrax, his healing abilities allowed me to change tactics and engage in lightsaber combat more. I'm liking this class more and more. For my Sage (18), I'm concentrating on Seer (Healing) and will follow the same method of applying points to the other two trees that will benefit my character. I'm running around with my good friend's Jedi Guardian. He has Kira Carson now. Between Kira, Qyzen, and the Guardian, I can concentrate on healing with long range fire support. I'm having an extreme amount of fun. So much so, I've not logged in on CoH in a week! lol
  11. Okay. For my sage, which of the three skill sets should I concentrate on? Ditto for my Shadow. Thanks.
  12. Okay, I am running a sage with my best friend who is playing a Jedi Guardian. So healing is very important. I'm adept at using long range attacks and wading in to use my lightsaber too. However, I do want to focus on healing and making my long range attacks more effective. My sage is at 14th level now. My Shadow, she's my commando, thus I play her that way. Therefore, precision attacks with my lightsaber is a must and making my long range attacks effect is important too. However, I do want to ensure she has the defenses not to be a glass tank.
  13. Howdy, I'm new here...actually this is my first post. This isn't my first MMO, I cut my teeth on CoH/CoV (which I still actively play). I'm pretty adept on playing in an MMO. I have two Consulars, a shadow (15) and a sage (14) and a Sith Inquisitor Assassin (24). I'm still learning the game and its system myself. However, I've noticed that my Shadow is better at soloing than my Sage is. As a Shadow and Assassin I can say, "Stealth is your friend." Use it at every opportunity. What my problem is trying to figure out which is more important in the skill tree for the two classes. I've read that you should concentrate on a single group; however, there are many skills that benefit each class. Therefore, if any of the 'old timers' don't mind parting some of their experience and advice on the skill tree, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure Icey will too. Thanks.
