  1. Question for the OP - Based on your 31/6/4 build; Do you think it would be alright to keep 2/2 revenge and take from blade barricade perhaps 1/3? Revenge stacks up to 3x, are you just not needing the extra rage? Or are you not parrying/deflecting/shielding/resisting enough for it to be worth the pts in PVP? 6% more defense for 6seconds only after using retaliation doesn't seem all that good. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#101RrGdkdrzfzZcMzZMM.1
  2. I think this is a horrible idea...3 sets of gear depending on what you want to do? So to enjoy everything the game offers - solo content, raid content, pvp content - I now need 3 seperate sets of armors just for the content. I am a casual player, and what you elitist raiders tend to forget is that most "Casual" players are not casual by choice. I am married with 2 children, I work full time and my wife works part time & school full time. I cannot commit to a raid guild, I would love to! I'd never make the cut, if my wife demands my attention on Friday night - I can't tell her sorry hun i've got a raid to go to (well maybe a few times, but i'd be pushing my luck after awhile). If you think casual players are like YAY! I don't have to raid I can just do dailies over and over that is entirely more time consuming and less enjoyable you are incorrect. In fact i'll probably get burned out with this method before completing an entire raid set as is. At the same time I don't want to spend all that time doing solo/dailies for gear that only makes me a stronger solo player...that is just silly. What if my wife takes the kids out for the day, zomg free game day I want to try to join a raid...oh wait i've only got this silly solo gear i've been working on for 6months tehehe nevermind. This is just 1 example of reality, other people have more time to commit and less responsibilities...and at times I envy you people. I also enjoy pvping, again I've already got to collect seperate sets for pvp/pve - adding yet another set to solo is just not a good idea. Also, raid gear not being good for solo pve content? It goes both ways, if I can down the hardest bosses in game yet my gear is a let down for solo PVE content? That makes no sense to me...
  3. You know for razer to make SWTOR licensed themed products they have to like...get license agreements right? You do realize this yes? Why would they endorse a keyboard, and then try to prevent you from using it? They aren't doing that, I don't know how I can make this any more clear...
  4. Yes Chewpaco dying MMO's - old mmo's etc...are you telling me they died because of MACROS?!?! I just want an official word from BIOWARE that MACROS Will not be coming...so that I can go out and buy this: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.220156700/categoryId.35208800 For those lazy to go to outside URLs - Description: The Razer Naga Epic MMO Gaming Mouse is the upgrade to the original award-winning and massively popular Razer Naga that shifts the balance between the keyboard and mouse with its 17 MMO-optimized buttons. Sadly I bet half the people against MACROS in the first place are already using this kind of crap. ZOMG wow 17 optimized buttons that I can control with my mouse hand using my thumb without even taking my hand off the mouse. What?! It's not against TOA to have that mouse?!?! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! You people are so stupid with this anti-macro crap, every MMO since forever has had macro use. It does not even matter, if it's not offered in game the ability to do so is readily available for those that have the hardware. So why not let everyone have the ability to customize their UI as they see fit without having to go to such great lengths?? Why doesn't anyone understand this? I am done with this thread, if bioware thinks they are some how making a point by not allowing macros they are even less intelligent than the non-macro trolls on this thread. Oh WOW!! I just found this awesome gaming keyboard also thats SWTOR THEMED!! I've got to have it check it out!! Only $249.99 http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.241167600/categoryId.35156900 Description: Ten dynamic adaptive tactile keys A true Jedi or Sith Master thinks quickly on their feet, adjusting Force™ abilities and Lightsaber stance to suit each fight. With the dynamically changing adaptive tactile keys on the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ Gaming Keyboard by Razer, put more skills and macros within quick reach, so you're always equipped to emerge victorious from every battle. Find out more about the Switchblade UI here. Good thing you morons are fighting to prevent macros in game, really doing the game justice...keep up the good work. Please try to argue this, i'm sure someone will - a macro enabled gaming keyboard endorsed by swtor, yet macros aren't available in game. I'm done.
  5. It's not really automation...as for each action in the macro you have to keypress - even if it's the same key, as opposed to 2 or 3 keys. Rule of the game? Again please someone find me an MMO in the last 5 years that does not have some form of Macro feature/support for players. This is a missing feature that is expected. Your whole car example is irrelevant, it's like saying ooo well I drive a stick shift - I am a superior driver because of it. Oh I drive an automatic - I am a bad driver because I do not have to shift. WHEN THE POINT OF DRIVING IS JUST TO GET FROM POINT A TO B AND TO WATCH THE ROAD - BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND REACT ACCORDINGLY. - That is what makes a good driver. I'm tired of hearing opinions, this thread is huge - When are we going to get an official post from an admin regarding this? Yes or No - Will Macros be implemented in the near future? - They seem to be missing in my settings menu, please fix. I play lineage2 over 8 year++ game - has basic macro features. Rift Aion WoW Lineage2 Warhammer AOC GW Please add to the list...can't think of any more examples atm. Macros is not going to make or break this game.
  6. So I think I finally get what Chewpaco is getting at... 1. Whoever has the most keys binded and the fastest to use them via their keyboard & mouse, without typos or fat fingering a key is the more skillful player in MMOs. I understand having more keys to hit leaves more room for error, it also makes it less convenient, more tidious, and less enjoyable. Skills get left out and people prioritize their main rotations due to the amt of keybindings and lack of convenience of some of the more not so significant skills. 2. Every MMO i've played has a basic macro functionality - the game developer can limit the usefulness/effectiveness of the macro features. Is SWOTR under the impression that without MACROS they are appealing to an "Elitest" group and making this MMO super hard? Because SWOTR is not hard, and I could think of a dozen ways to make the game more challenging while incorporating macro functionality. 3. Global Cool Down (GCD) eliminates the abiltity to just hit a macro 1 time and it go through the casts motions...you hit the 1 key repeatidly. Due to the GCD - Anyone - even you Chewpaco without macros can keep up with a basic rotation as the GCD is longer than it takes for someone to press a seperate key. 4. If skill is based on how fast you can use your skills inbetween GCD without errors/typos, than using a gaming mouse and keyboard also puts you at an unfair advantage to those without. Does the person with 13 progammable buttons on the side of their mouse have more skill than someone with a standard mouse? Leaving out macros just makes an inconvenience for the player base, it does not stop people from using external devices to get an edge. I have nothing against these devices, unless a game developer leaves out an expected standard - macro functionality. If you think you have more skill by not using macros, pat yourself on the back and bask in the glory of your superiority. I can play this game without macros (obviously) we all are, it is annoying though...and to me less enjoyable.
  7. Which isn't true either...I am in favor of macros - I am living without them and do just fine. I also have mastery of keyboard, type 100wpm and make good use of keybindings. Just because some prefers using a few macros does not mean they are less skilled or would get outplayed without them. Personally I think the person who says "Hey, This rotation is cool but I think I can make it more effective by using this In-Game feature in every MMO to date except SWOTR called MACROS to be even more effecient." Is the more intelligent/skillful player. This is like argueing with someone who souly uses his mouse to click all his skills, for him sure maybe it's more effective...i've seen some pretty effective mouse clickers. Ultimately we all know however that the person that makes good use of his keyboard and hotkeys will be the better player. *** Monkar*** Lol I apologize I totally misread what I quoted you on...sorry haven't had my coffee yet - tried to just delete this post but it wouldn't allow me to
  8. yes because I use macros to target people? Other than perhaps a macro to assist the main tanks target - which I don't use either. Even so I don't see in the PVE since how that would effect other players game experience?
  9. using a well written script - is a violation of the TOA, as it requires a MUD Client(3rd party client) to interact with the game server...just like a bot does (making it a violation). Using a macro, even macro on your keyboard if it is capable...is not the same. It does not use the 3rd party client to send commands to the game, the application interacts with the keyboard and you configure it. Not only that but - macros need to be activated, which cannot be done without a human or 3rd party client (violation) I am good at scripting, I script for a living...I do not want to go out and buy a macro capable gaming keyboard with advanced scripting features to do more than what is even offered by most standards in games. I like the fast/quick/easy simple generic macros for trivial tasks, by not allowing simple macro options...it's just pushing more people to buy those I/O devices. Maybe thats their goal?
  10. Really? Macros = Botting now? Really? Would you like me to google the definitions of a macro and a bot? I won't spoil the fun for ya, give it a try - read up a bit on the subject of macros and bots. Once you feel you have a strong grasp on the knowledge come back to this thread and tell us what you have learned.
  11. I've played both, and yes especially for RIFT macros are very useful. I used them, most people did...not all people but most. I didn't quit RIFT because of macros? I do not see valid explanation, rift was a bit over the top - the skills with their conditions and c/ds promoted macros a lot. I can name several MMO's where macros were not so heavily used, but still had functionality. **Again none of this stops people from programming their external devices to do the same thing they cannot achieve in-game currently. If you have a standard 3 button mouse, versus the guy with 10 hotkeys on the side of his to bind. Is the person with standard mouse not at a disadvantage? Or the person with macro capable keyboard? Or the person that clicks all his skills on his action bars with his mouse as opposed to using his keyboard for keybindings!!!! LETS REMOVE KEYBINDINGS, CLICKERS ARE AT A DISADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!! EVERY MMO has macros - if BioWare is trying to prove a point and break the mold with some fantastic new innovative idea to leave out macros zomg thats so awesome. All my friends that don't play the game, soon as I tell em OMG SWOTR is so hardcore they don't allow in-game macros!! Quit the other MMO's you are playing finally a game without MACROS!!! WAHOOO!! I think BioWare hit the jackpot, they are going to sell so many more copies once the word gets out about no macros.
  12. Anyone against macros is ignorant! Have you not seen the mice for purchase with 13 programmable buttons on the side of them??? Or the gaming keyboard with macro functionality built in? For people like me that just want to make a few simple in-game macros - yes even a few for combat skills. Without having to purchase a mouse with 13 programmable buttons or manually configure keyboard scripts that BioWare endorses. You people against macros are just hurting yourselves, and your ability to make simple easy basic macros in-game to contend with the people already using external macros and ridiculous gaming I/O devices. If BioWare made macro abilities/functionality basic - it would not be an issue. If you could make a macro that could effectively use your entire rotation of skills with 1 click of a macro in-game that would be a failure on the developers side. I have NEVER seen an ingame macro feature in any game that was so advanced as to make it game breaking to those that choose not to use macros.
  13. I cannot think of a single MMO in the last 8-10 years that has not had macro ability in game, it seems very stupid not to include basic macro features. 1. People that like macros enough will just use their macro gaming keyboard/mouse, or go out and buy one. I prefer not to have to configure or buy external equipment for a feature that should be included in the game. 2. I don't think the people against Macro's understand them enough, just that they dislike them and do not know how to use them? They are very simple...and I do not think they cause "Unfair" advantages. I'm talking basic macros, not hit 1 button and it goes through an entire rotation of skills...just basic priority tiered for example. Key 1 - /heal on 20sec c/d <----hit key 1 first skill that gets used /heal lesser heal with no c/d <---- 2nd in priority only used when better heal on c/d... that would be the most you could do unless you had other skills on c/d before the no c/d skill. I do not enjoy watching c/d's esp when in the heat of the battle, if it's on c/d move to next skill possible on list - use that skill and stop macro, if want to use next skill below it have to hit macro again... I also ENJOY making macros, for me it's added bonus - i've actually got to sit down and see how each skill works, their duration c/d's etc...helps me logically learn the class skills. Can you think of any MMO you have played in last 10years that has not had macro feature available? I think not including the option is a step back, it's a feature I was completely shocked/suprised to not see available.
  14. I've played Sith Warrior, as well as BH...I preferred the BH story line more. Bounty hunting is cool
