  1. lol What point are you even trying to make? If the franchise alone was responsible for the numbers were seeing it would have been evident from past films. The franchise has been around for close to 40 years. Lucas could've had these kinds of numbers if he had any idea what he was doing with the prequels. He didn't.
  2. This is why Disney payed 4 billion dollars for exclusive use of the IP. I don't understand this as an argument against the film. If it can sustain the success (as indicated by how it performed the following Monday) it is a credit to the films merit alone. And it has already out performed the highest grossing Star Wars film by a large gap (more than doubled opening day totals) which is a credit to Disney. The movie has already exceeded expectations that Disney had for it on opening weekend.
  3. Also, yes Kylo is essentially a kid. It's not about kids these days, it's the way kids have always been. **** I'm still like that, it's called testosterone. The rage builds up and you take it out on the nearest TV set. It's not exactly whining it's just not knowing how to control your emotions, men in general just aren't good with that.
  4. Because being dark side just by killing a bunch of people is kind of pointless and lame, and one dimensional. They need to establish motivations for why the character has turned to the dark side, it's not supposed to be pretty or especially flattering. You're supposed to dislike the villain, there's only a few proven ways you can achieve that effect in an audience, and they're already touched on a couple of ways with Kylo. They could have made him a more ominous character, they could have made him win his duel with Rey, but that duel exists for the sole purpose of putting one of the characters over, clearly not killing one of them off. Since it's the first film in the new trilogy they need a good feel ending, and Rey is the catalyst to the whole thing. Both Rey and Kylo are set to be in a position to refine and strengthen their skills in the next movie. We need to give them time to mature as characters.
  5. On the contrary, for me people who express their disappointment in the movie only strengthens my resolve and enhances my enjoyment of the film. It already brings me such joy and happiness, knowing it rustles other peoples jimmies is just a bonus. If someone gets joy and happiness out of complaining about and being unhappy with the film, that person is just really negative. The new cast is too stronk though, they're above reproach so it falls on deaf ears.
  6. There is no bullying on this thread, just the fans of Force Awakens displaying clear dominance over inferior competition. Lets try to remain on topic here.
  7. "Oh I'm too busy to actually back up my opinions cause I'm calculating how many thousand calories I will consume tomorrow to ensure I stay 100% lard." Good to know, now you're dismissed. Oh don't worry, you can't stop me, you do have permission to sit there and seethe though. You're not debating anything by the way, you're whinging like a wounded donkey about how nobody can stand up for your favorite movies (since you're too much of a coward to do so.)
  8. Too bad you lack the courage to do it yourself. People who love The Force Awakens actually got a pair son. By the way, relying on the mob mentality is pretty weak. I stand alone, bring it on. I ain't scared of no OT nerds, that is a fact. You're far too old for that, and lack the screen presence of Lord Kylo.
  9. That was a clearly predictable response, I'm glad we could get that out of the way early on so we can proceed with celebrating the awesomeness that is The Force Awakens. I smell like popcorn because I've already been to see The Force Awakens 4 times. You may revel in the ambiance and live vicariously through me, ain't nobody got it this good. You mad?
  10. I'm the same bigray, I can't wait to see where they go with it next. Regardless it will be awesome, I assure everyone just needs to remain calm and love Star Wars. As for other people, I don't really play nice with other people anyways. I will horde all the Star Wars goodness for myself, and maybe share it occasionally. Partial it out in dixie cups or something. Some people just aren't ready for the divine blessing that is The Force Awakens. But I believe, that's all that matters.
  11. You've been asked to provide specific evidence from the film that clearly demonstrates her skills have been learned exclusively by dealing with "riffraff" over the years. I can't prove where they were not learned from. I can not prove she did not learn them from beating up petty thugs her whole life. But you state this is in fact the case, and that should be provable since you've stated it is clearly shown, and hence the burden of proof lies on you. This is your claim, not anyone elses. You've clearly stated that this was proven by the film explicitly and shown for our benefit. So far you've been unable to back up your claims, you've only completely avoided the question while just calling other people ignorant. I'm going to go ahead and retract the statement for you since you're unable to prove it. It will be stricken from the record henceforth and we will all universally agree that you were incorrect in your assertions, and be better for it. And though we all may be better for this as well, I will continue to read your posts. Besides the fact they're a source of nonstop hilarity, I enjoy watching you constantly backtrack when you're put on the spot. I like softies.
  12. I will simply treat the OT like something that happened a long time ago, like a fable like how Rey said she thought they were just stories at first. Rey is also the most powerful Jedi ever, this much is clear. She destroyed a dark Jedi like he was a mere pawn in the very first movie. The first thing Luke bested with a lightsaber was a blizzard yeti. Luke went into hiding because he felt Reys power and wanted to go to a quiet place and wait for her to come teach him about the force. As you see, Rey is also the best actor/actress to ever appear in a Star Wars movie. I really love Rey. Fin is better than Han Solo also. Han Solo is pretty cool but you can be assured that nobody will have to go back and re-edit Fins blaster fights to improve them later. He did a tremendous job. I believe he's also force sensitive, which is another advantage over Han. Kylo...man Kylo. He has a very strong on screen presence unlike Anakin. When he cracks and goes psycho on something, be somewhere else. While it's true he did lose to a girl, that's okay. That girl as we've established is the strongest Jedi ever, and he did mess up Han Solo and the guy who is better than Han Solo. This is just setting him up for big things later, once he completes his training he will be quite a force. I foresee him needing some sort of breathing apparatus similar to Vader's suit. Except he will sound way cooler. I'm really impressed with the cast in this movie and I'm glad the original stars could come back and help out. This will be the movie that they're talking about in 20 years while the OT with all its various silly retoolings will be forgotten. JJ went in and remade it the right way, in one go, right off the bat. Home run son, please pass go and collect $200 million dollars, you are a legend. I know there are some people out there that didn't enjoy the movie, nobody cares, they didn't make the new Star Wars movies for you anyways, they made it for me. For everytime you don't watch The Force Awakens, I'm going to watch it 9 times. May the force be with you.
  13. Unfortunately it is not "made clear" that is how she attained her skills. You've inferred that from a single scene you saw in the movie, period. That is exactly the logic I ridiculed in the post above. Now you're backing off it like you never said it. If it is your statement that it is "made clear" that's how she gained those skills, either present the parts of the movie that show this as fact, or admit that it is not made clear at all. Now it is simply you "thinking for yourself" whereas before you stated that the movie tells us this. Is asking for a reference where it is all made so abundantly clear a huge problem for you? As for the second paragraph, if all it takes is her being shown on screen in the scene during the vision to establish that she was in fact present for it, she was on screen directly in front of the Knights of Ren in her vision, her and Kylo were staring right at each other in front of us. So by your criteria, she was in fact there and she was recalling a memory she was present for rather than a force vision. Since your logic is end all be all, I would guess it would be folly to refute this now, unless again, you wish to retract the statement. By the way, it's pretty hilarious that you think anyone besides yourself looks ignorant right now.
  14. 1. We see her fight in the movie with a staff. You inferred from that particular scene (somehow, someway) that is exclusively how she produced said skill. Correlation does not imply causation. Your logic is "she can fight people trying to steal from her so she learned to fight by fighting against people who steal from her." I would call that a logical fallacy but that statement and logic should not be mentioned together in the same sentence. That's how bad it was. Seriously, that's horrible, god awful, repugnant, foul, loathsome. I may have to bust out my thesaurus to illustrate to you just how terrible that was. 2. The part you're missing is, it was never clarified whether she was present for them or not. This was not addressed in the movie, in any way shape or form. You claimed it was when it wasn't. You're incorrect and digging your hole only deeper.
  15. Quite literally nothing you posted there supports anything you said in the previous post, which was completely fabricated. In no way does it even remotely substantiate any of your claims. As it does not address 1. To what extent Rey was trained and 2. if the they were memories of things she actually saw. It only says they were visions of her, and Luke Skywalker, and the Knights of Ren. It does not state one way or another whether she was present for those visions, only that we know for a fact that she was present for one of them. Still entirely fabricated. I've simply corrected you where you inserted things into the movie that were never substantiated. If you do not actually know better that means you're ignorant. But at this point I think just a troll, which is also relatively ignorant. Anything else you'd like to be corrected on?
  16. The only one unable to take criticism here is you my pedigreed chum. I had no involvement in making the film whatsoever, I've not been critiqued in the slightest so maybe you want to rethink your position and start again. What position am I to defend, that I liked the movie. You either agree with me or you're not worth more than disdain to be honest, I'm pretty sure that's all you were offered. I'm not surprised if you do not accept my generous offer, as you've shown extremely poor judgement up to this point. Your tears are delicious.
  17. MMm those tears are extra salty. Loved the movie, glad you hated it and it ruined your day/
  18. Literally nothing you just said is actually taken from the movie, you do realize that right? You literally just made all of it up. We know she's experiencing memory as we can see her as a little girl on Jakku watching a transport fly away during the vision. Period. You're making stuff up. As for where she gained her skills, at no point in the movie is it said that she honed her skills by any particular means. It wasn't "made clear" whatsoever what kind of training she has or hasn't received. EVER, at any point was it even slightly mentioned or approached as a topic. Only that "she didn't know" how she was able to do force related things. So again, you're making stuff up. It really is that simple. It doesn't require you intentionally fabricating information from the movie to justify yourself, it's okay, we understand. You went to the movies intent with leaving with something to complain about. It's not really a big deal. But what I understand is that the movies can in fact add aspects of the force. We didn't know force lightening was possible until episode 6. "Luke got owned by a guy who didn't even use a lightsaber, I'm never watching Star Wars again." It makes just as much sense as your argument.
  19. Yeah keep this away from The Old Republic games, this is not the place to have someone having weird flash backs quickly discovering that they have super Jedi powers and kicking peoples ***. That has never happened here ever, well except for that one time, in the game that spawned the franchise, with the main character, who was like the most ****** person in the galaxy. But other than that, we don't want it, ya hear? Ever occur to you that the reason for Reys power will all be explained in the next movie, and it's quite possible she has been trained and just doesn't remember? Or would it be easier just to continue freaking out about it?
  20. Utterly inaccurate. Smedley did pump up the change when it was going in, what else was he supposed to do? "Hey ya'll, I didn't really want to do this because it completely sucks, but here you go anyways, even though like I said, it sucks." He had a professional responsibility, not to mention his job, to worry about so throwing Lucas Arts under the bus makes both impossible. He did later admit it was a mistake, took his share of responsibility for it, but that does nothing to change the fact that it's already been established that it was Lucas Arts decision. Disagree all you like, most anyone familiar with the proceedings knows this. Sony as a company has done ridiculous things to EQ2, but nothing on the scale that was the NGE. It's not even comparable.
  21. SWG at the time had about 250k subscribers. That's 3.75 million a month if you're counting. Yet in 2015 people still think it was Smedleys fault when he was in fact running a profitable business and had no need to change to continue to do so, and had every reason to believe his product would suffer if they changed it so drastically. But yet he did so anyways, because Lucas Arts said so. It's 2015. This has been put to bed years ago as Lucas Arts doing. If you don't want to accept that as the reason that's fine, but it is the generally accepted history regardless. Smedley at the time had more experience in the MMO genre than anyone. To believe he would be that stupid in the first place is quite the stretch. The decision came from people who know nothing about MMOs, or had little to gain from keeping the game the way it was. ie. Not Sony.
  22. I played EQ2 and used the option to turn off levelling EXP often. This helped me to build up AA's and make a character that was pretty awesome compared to a lot of water down lvl 90's who weren't as thorough with their questing. But I felt like I was alone in this way of playing. It's true, there's few who actually play games this way, and take advantage of the content that is there. This style will not be accommodated to. It's typical to rush to max level, to have the E-peen or whatever. That's why we have serious fast levelling, why developers don't bother making meaningful content at max level, why there wont be further class story missions for a long time (if at all). It's far easier cheaper and more profitable to cater to the treadmill gerbils who just want to run dailies and kill monster of the day, accumulate some shiny coins that don't really mean much, rather than being engaged in a story of any kind. This is why we can't have nice things. Players have nobody but themselves to blame.
  23. Its not my problem if you cant think outside your own limited exsitence and experience and imagine the possiblity that many people would discriminate against any minority group if it wasnt pounded into our head every day that it was wrong. And also, that people online dont really need a reason to "discriminate". Welcome to the internet?
  24. You clearly underestimate people. Good luck with that.
  25. Guilds wont pass on any chance to be elitist. They'd probably just as easily say no gays, cripples, (insert race here) if it was socially acceptable to do so. Theres no real reason to have an age requirement for the guild, if that person makes a nuisance of themselves because they're young and annoying you just remove them from the guild. Dont tell me a couple of clicks in an MMO is a big trouble.
