  1. ''This one simple trick will change your Hutball experience: FOREVER!'' Never. I have to walk the ball in, where possible. Meanwhile the enemy team are passing the thing like firemen forming a bucket chain. The first 3 touchdowns I could understand. But you'd think folks would figure it out by the fifth..
  2. Returning player. Used to play near launch. Then dipped in a few years later. We arrived back a few weeks before the update (we didn't even know about the update until a week or so before). Having a great time. Just finishing class story. Main character is nearly 80 - Guardian/Sorcerer, a combination that lets me tank for my family and friends then enjoy running Madness through the PvE and PvP conent. Regarding PvP, even at lower levels we've found the queues very short. Enjoyable, in as much as an under-geared player thrashing about in PvP can enjoy themselves. My guardian went from mobile & nearly unkillable to one or the other, or something in between. All thanks to the new skills system. Before I basically had everything and now I have to really weigh up what I will gain and lose with each decision. Really rewarding. UI is ok. Already adapted. I have boring old normal eyes, so the inventory doesn't cause me to implode or anything. - Hotub
  3. Meanwhile, myself and my friends have recently returned and are very much enjoying things. The new skill tree presents interesting choices I can experiment with. The mob tagging changes have made levelling less stressful. I even like the UI character sheet changes (but not the inventory..). I imagine there's a strong reaction from players more emotionally invested in the game - and reading around, I've realised that most have never experienced any significant changes to the game for as much as 10 years. And I'm sure that really sucks - having things be different, realising that old habits and ways no longe work. We'll have to see how things move forwards.
  4. As a new-ish player (played for a while years ago), I'm very much enjoying the changes. The skill tree finally pushes some interesting choices between attack and defense and the mob tagging has made general world events that much more enjoyable. Looking forward to a second fighting style.
  5. Having finally caught up, I fully agree with you and appreciate you sharing your thoughts through this thread. SWTOR has had to evolve, and play to its strengths, namely characterisation and storytelling within the context of the Star Wars universe. Especially with regards to an older, out dated concepts being applied to any game labelled as an MMO the term MMO has become short hand for a host of expectations that many have come to believe 'must' be included - 'tyranny of the genre' is alive and well. And yet, we must be prepared to accept reality. What works. What doesn't work. En masse. Even if it means losing an element of play that we might have enjoyed in the past (raiding for example) or a homogenizing of elements that might have traditionally been clearly split (PvE/PvP, especially with regards to gearing). So yes, going aaaaall the way back to the OP, I do agree that a system that makes BIS gear accessible to all is a clever step in the right direction. The execution could use some refinement but the intent is sound. Folks may be interested in reading up on Richard Bartle's work. He wrote a lovely piece on 'The Decline of MMOs'. http://mud.co.uk/richard/The%20Decline%20of%20MMOs.pdf
  6. A fact about female gamers: Like their male counterparts, many crave attention and/or recognition.
  7. EA are notorious for their harsh deadlines, prompting sacrifices in quality in order for developers to avoid defaulting. As it stands, we're paying to test a product that could have been given a lot more polish before it was released were deadlines moved/more time given towards development. However, this translates to increased costs and the aforementioned defaulting. They would not sell us a product we wouldn't buy - I bought it and like many are funding the trend to release games that lack the proper investiture of money to ensure quality. OP, I have sympathy for the developers - but not the publishers repeatedly attempting to cover more costs by dumping unfinished products on the public, nor those that buy said unfinished products and expect the quality of their purchases to improve. If we want to promote a better quality of gaming product we must stop passively supporting the production and distribution of unfinished products. This would directly translate to: Stop making excuses and stop giving games backed by certain publishers money.

Anything which isn't a CD gets hidden in its own hot bar, offscreen. Large icons get replaced to avoid bad habits such as looking at short duration CD's rather than everything else. Still testing - tweaking as we go.
