  1. Thats a terrible idea and is incredibly unimaginative. I don't recall having ever seen anyone in Star wars wearing a suit. Try to remember this game is not based on Earth and is Science Fantasy. That'd be like asking for suits as gear in LoR online.
  2. Yeah I totally agree, with the idea that people need to present a reasonable view, but some people are more reactionary and aren't concerned with making the best point possible just a point. Thats their business though. I dont care to police the boards. Also I agree that too much griping does just become noise. The more gripes the noisier it gets though and that along with cancellations envokes change. Sometimes the main thrust of the message gets lost in the mix. That is and will always be apart of disconentent though. The alternative however is a few people making a valid point that will never matter unless a ton of people share in that point of view. Alone it has meaning sure but it also has no weight.
  3. Yeah maybe, but hyperbole is sometimes needed to make a point and the squeeky wheel as they say gets the grease.
  4. Thats a good argument and I'll concede to that point. I won't concede to the idea though that character customization i.e. being able to alter the look of gear through colors or change appearnces to a character should be made through microtransactions. If other games have doe that ok, but like I said every MMO Ive ever played had the opportunity to do those things with in game currency. I haven't played every MMO in the world but I've never heard of any MMo charging additional fees for something so minor and for something that makes the game just a little more complete.
  5. You might be right. I do however believe that someone does read the boards and if enough of a fuss is made then maybe Bioware will pay attention. If they want to continue to dismiss the wants of their customers they will cease to make a profit. This is where we can announce our discontent. So if this is my only medium then I may as well try. The next step is unsubbing. Bioware made the mistake of ignoring the customers before and what happened? A mass exodus. I want the game to change for the better not just sit back and watch it deteriorate. Perhaps I'm being idealistic, but I'm allowed to be. Im actually glad you are bringing this to people's attention because I (probaly like you) find it to be outrageous.
  6. Fair enough and I apologize for misunderstanding your sentiment. Your point would make more sense though if the Cathar were included in the ROTHC expanion then. Instead Bioware held out for 2.1 to get an additional profit. How is that not sleazy?
  7. I'm not blaming you friend nor am I attempting to attack you. Also this post wasn't meant as a simple complaint about the Cathar. If I were going to make that complaint I would have made it months ago. I didn't. I didn't like it but whatever. If others do so be it. The point of this thread was to note that all of these new additions to the game should be included without additional funds beyond the subscription fee. That's all. I am saying however that the idea to say we won't introduce new species if the Cathar is not well recieved is BS and is moronic thinking. I understand this is not your plan though I don't understand why it seems like you are defending it.
  8. SWG, CoH, Conan, Champions Online, DC Universe, Secret World. In all of these games that I played there was never an additional charge for new skins or the ability to make character alterations. You'd pay to make alterations at a vendor using in game currency. But I suppose it's easier for you to make sweeping generalizations and include me in with the hooded menace who is simply here to bring down the evil EA/BW. You caught me. Im spending my own money just to thwart EA. I know the plan is ingenious right? I rarely post. In fact the last time I did was to DEFEND the F2P model telling people to at least see what happens before pushing the panic button.
  9. I don't bother engaging in debates based on conjecture so I won't even delve into the fantastical world you describe if Tesla had won out over Edison. One thing that is not conjecture is that Tesla was Edisons assistant so he too was there for the thousands of failures. That being said, Edison didn't fail on the lightbulb and move onto the telescribe after completely giving up on the lightbulb. He stuck with it and invented something that revolutionized the world. I'm not saying that a different species will revolutionize humaity or even the game for that matter, but it could prove profitable. All of the ideas you mentiond are good ones. So are other player species regradless of the success or lack thereof with the Cathar.
  10. So your saying that the only way to make money and be succesful is to succeed on your first attempt. Plenty of entrepreneurs fail they're first, second or third time out and end up becoming stinking rich when they do succeed. Thomas Edison for example who said when asked about his hundreds (and, by some accounts, thousands) of attempts to invent a working lightbulb, he once told a reporter, “I have not failed 10,000 times. I have successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.” Boy where would we be today if Edison gave up? I could surmise that we wouldn't be having this discussion.
  11. I don't now what they intend. It may prove succesful. That's not the point. The point is that saying to your paying customers that we are offering you something new that you may or may not like, but, if you don't like it we'll never offer you anything new again is moronic and lazy. They already have a product that they are trying to retain and hopefully expand. Why put limits on that because of one failure? It doesn't make any sense. It's a strong arm tactic no matter how they try to spin it.
  12. I don't see how that anology holds water. EA/BW wasn't offering something that they haven't delved into yet. There were already player species. They didn't offer a species that has wings and flies. The species does all of the same things. But I'll respond anyway. Ok so Toyota wants to start building and selling airplanes. Well there is already a model for what kinds of airplanes will sell so they can either choose to improve on that design or simply go with the tried and true. However offering something that they feel won't sell in that market is stupid. And all they can come up with is well if you don't buy our planes we won't make another one. Ok so don't make any more. But what you guys are describing is economics with a baseball bat.
  13. I'm sorry am I not allowed to post a thread? Do I have to pay cartel coins to do so or ask for your permission? I opted to start a new thread because I'm making a point that while may have been made in other different threads, was not combined in any way to demonstrate what I think. Beyond that, every other thread that I read turned into a debate of nothing more than meaningless unconstructive insults. Kind of what you are attempting to do. Oh and I didn't pay a sub fee in the past. I bought the game in the past. My sub fee is paid on a monthly basis which means that it is currently being paid and might be paid in the future. What that means is that nothing is free because I pay for it every single month. On another note, if MMO's didn't want customer feedback then they shouldn't have forums in the first place. I love you people who outrage against those who are outraged. You seem to feel like our criticisms diminish you r playing experience. Well I and others are entitled to our opinions so instead of diminishing someone else's opinion maybe you should have one of your own. These threads that have been posted in regards to our disdain to these updates doesn't affect you in the slightest. What does affect you is when you blindly defend a system that isn't working for you but against you because you realize that your precious game isn't perfect. All that ends up happening is EA/BW feels that they can continue w/ the status quo. Well when that happens they will lose subs and then your playing experience will be further diminished because the community has shrunk. i.e. there are fewer people to group with. I really don't get this counterargument that EA should charge me extra. What is gained by that? Wouldn't you rather have options that are provided to you through your monthly subscription rather than paying an additional amount for them?
  14. Wow that's a really poor business model. Where did they learn their business ethics from Al Capone? I could just imagine Toyota saying our next line of cars are only going to be rear wheel drive, will not have power windows, xm radio, or a gps. We'll add that stuff down the road but only if you buy our next line of cars. Hmmm I wonder what will happen. I'm guessing Toyota filing for bankruptcy. No succesful business offers a lousy product and says we'll make it better but only if you buy the lousy one first. I'd rather play any other species than a cathar so why would I pay for it? Because EA/BW is threatening not to give me what I want? Well they can take their threats and false promises and stick them where the sun doesnt shine. I'd rather hold on to my money than being strong armed into buying something I don't want.
  15. Once again new content isn't always in the form of quests. That being said I did have to pay for new content in the form of quests and being able to continue playing the game with 2.0 and that wasn't w/ cartel coins. I also had to pay that $10 to keep my characters up to snuff. All that being said the last two patches are costing beyond the sub fee. So my question is if this will be a continuing trend or if this will be the end of it or at least be a rare occurance. My suspicion is that quests will FOR THE MOST PART be free but everything else will cost CC which will eventually translate to real dollars. Pointing to the HK quest as a paradigm of "good free" content is ridiculous. First of all that was how many months ago and pointing to one free update doesn't dismiss the fact that all updates beyond major expansions should be free. People act like their sub fees are only meant to keep the servers up or something. No they are meant to ensure new content on a frequent basis at no additional cost.
