  1. They'll fix the bugs next year...give em a little time.

Next year will be too late for me. I'm tired of them breaking the game in December, disappearing for 2 months with no patches, and then taking a year or more to fix just some of the issues. This is like the initial rollout of Galactic Command all over again--except worse because it's not just affecting gearing.

  2. Wonder if this is any way related to all the other companion-based problems that Five-Ten has spawned. Screwed up 'normal' companions are bad enough, but sub-reward ones broken now, too? Seems like someone in the testing and bug-fixing department was sleeping on the job...

It's funny that you think they have any sort of testing and bug-fixing department.

  3. How about just not rolling out new bug-riddled content right before the whole staff goes on holiday for the next 6-8 weeks? The devs keep doing this to us during the holiday season year after year. It's like finding coal mixed with cow pies in your Christmas stocking, and not being able to throw it out for two months.
  4. How many developers does SWTOR actually have?

Seriously, this general patch, while Ossus is a nice daily area, is so badly ****** with serious bugs. It would have been better to wait into next year to release it.

As soon as I read about what they were doing with Auto-Complete, I knew companions would be bugged. I didn't expect this level of dysfunction, however.

How much did they test their changes? It would be easy to see the results of auto-completing the various classes that never entered the KotXX universe, and starting Ossus on characters partially through KotXX or for characters that had finished all story content.

I get there are bugs that aren't able to be caught ahead of time, but this doesn't come across as such a scenario. BW is putting major additions into the game and simply not testing properly or, in the case of this new companion, at all.

Thank you for posting this. I won't lose any level 50 Hexxids now.

EA didn't put any of the story content on the PTS, only the daily quests associated with Ossus. It seems like they didn't test the story content in-house either. So there was ZERO testing before the code was put in place. Not that they would have listened to feedback from players even if they did put it on the PTS, since all the bugs reported on the PTS are still present in the live version of the game...

  5. Did ANYTHING actually get fixed with this patch? So far everyone I know who's had bugs reports they still have the same bugs.

It's frustrating because I haven't started Ossus yet on the one toon I've taken through all the prior content, because I didn't want to screw up that toon. I really don't want to keep waiting, but I don't want to lose companions or end up stuck for the next two to three months while EA goes on vacation.

  6. Just have to comment on this, too. All of these errors are really annoying to see in our strongholds. I have to complain more about the fountain, though.

"Fountain: Jedi Temple - Missing the 3 water spouts"

If you get up close or inside the jedi fountaiin, it is actually missing all of the water in the fountain, not just the water spouts. There is no clear water effect at all to see or run through. At least the lighted blue bottom in it still looks right, even if its dry-as-a-bone. :'(

I've looked in game as well, and you are indeed correct! I've updated the description of the glitched decoration in the OP.

Ossus reputation vendor sells a Crystal light deco which apparently doesn’t exist. You can buy and claim it but it never shows up in the list of decos, and its preview is bugged.

Added! Thank you for your report!

Items such as the Holographic Republic Flag don't show up at all when placed, either (or at least they don't for me).

The sphere from the Replica Sacrificial Sphere is also missing. In fact, most objects that included a part that wasn't solid are missing.

The hologram flags and the Replica Sacrificial Sphere are both already listed in the OP. If you know of any other decorations with missing parts, please let me know!

The statue in decoration Small Jedi Padawan Shrine, obtained from the Ossus reputation vendor, is missing its head. You can see that error in the preview window, but I can now confirm it's present in the actual deco as well.

Good catch! Added to the list.

  7. These are good questions, so let me try to address them.

1 - This is an intended change. That being said, we know there is definitely some friction from this change and so keep raising your concerns/feedback which I can pass to the team. We have made no secret of the fact that we know we are due for some big itemization changes to address a variety of issues around gearing. Please keep telling us what you would like to see in the future from gearing in SWTOR. We will continue to gather feedback and as we get into the next year, we will have active conversations with you about future gearing plans.

2 - This is a bug, I acknowledged it here. The reason we didn't fix it with today's patch is that addressing this issue is actually pretty substantial from our side. It will involve us not only fixing the items to work properly going forward, but we need to actually "change" the gear already in the wild to work together. That is the part that is challenging as we need to touch armorings that players are wearing without impacting the rest of their gear. We are working on a solution for this, but it is not something we could turn around in time for 5.10a.

Thank you all for your continued feedback. Bigger itemization changes will come and we will definitely talk through them with you when they get here (not soon™). Thanks all.

Yet again Keith and his minions slip in some major nerfs without giving prior warning in any posts to players, or even putting them in the patch notes the day before. This is right up there in underhandedness with EA getting rid of the West Coast servers and only admitting to it after players had logged in and found their server ping quadrupled. What cowards. Eric, you swore months and months ago that any changes not put in patch notes was a bug. It's sad that Keith has made you a liar.

It's like you guys think players are stupid and won't notice the changes. Yet we always do, and then the devs always act surprised that players are--shocker!--upset that major nerfs were put into place without prior warning. Keith and company deliberately ignored the many, many threads on the PTS forum asking about the new bound nature of mods, and only now over a week after the content is live are we getting a confirmation that this is intended. Shame on you Keith. So much for your claims that you care about the players or their experience.

What's the point of even having removable mods in gear anymore if you can't, you know, remove them and move them around to where they're most useful? Oh, right, it's to extend the mindless, tedious, overly complicated, RNG-based grind you've put in place with this new gear tier. Why a new gear tier to begin with? Is it because EA literally has nothing else coming down the pipe for this game and you hoped to keep us distracted with the new shiny treadmill long enough to milk more subscription fees from the game before everything shuts down? Because I don't see any other logical reason for it.

The patch today fixed next to nothing, and now we're being told we're just going to have to live with all the bugs for the next 6-8 weeks while everyone goes on holiday? Why do something so stupid as dropping a major patch right before the holiday season when you know no one will be able to fix anything? This is something else EA keeps doing... and then they wonder why the sub count drops afterwards as a result, like with Galactic Command.

Thanking us for our feedback when you don't listen to it and haven't from the beginning is flat out insulting. I'm done.

  8. Dismissing the points I made and calling people cruel, homophobic, etc... Makes Lana worse to some of us. Originally, my dislike was based on how badly she reacted to my choices. Now I'm starting to hate her because of how you and others treat people who don't like her. It's you who are cruel and offensive.

I still like Lana. I've liked Lana since Forged Alliances. I don't want to get rid of Lana. However, the toxic nature of the Space Waifu Lana fans has pushed me towards the belief that all LIs having a kill/dismiss option is the lesser evil over most LIs having a kill/dismiss option with one author favorite being singled out for special treatment. Especially when those same Space Waifu Lana fans who insist Lana can never be given a kill option and all the 'haters' are awful people for asking for one will go on and on about how they (using one player's statements for example) hate Theron's guts and saw his kill option as "karma" and justified. I can't stand hypocrisy.

Getting called evil, heartless, cruel, spiteful, "not very progressive", homophobic, deplorable, racist, argumentative, immature, ignorant, shameful, nasty, etc. for expressing an opinion regarding my distaste for Lana being given 90+% of dev attention and screentime while all other LIs have turned into bricks has soured me on the character's presence in the game a million times more than the character herself (or her writing) ever did. At least if there's an option to get rid of Lana in the game, the devs will have to give us alternatives based on story choices again--or wipe the slate clean, which would definitely suck but at least we would all be on the same level then. Having one LI with plot armor while the rest can be killed off for little to no reason engenders nothing but resentment and toxicity.

  9. I can understand the use of more rampages on planets, but out of all the planets I doubt many who have gone to Ziost have left the quest chain incomplete. So here you make a rampage for 50 100 and 150 kills on a planet that has seven mobs two requiring quests. 2 monoliths, 4 probe droids, and 1 droid in the instance. Not to include the group monolith or the world boss.

So my question is why put a nearly useless conquest objective on the board if only a few can really benefit from it?

Oh wow, seriously? They did that? Yeah, that was... not a well thought out decision. I don't even want to THINK about how long it would take to try to meet those numbers just killing probe droids and never looting them so you keep the quest active... *shudders* As I've done Ziost on most of my active toons, that's one set of Conquest objectives I'm SOL on achieving.

  10. In my admittedly biased opinion LIs should definitely take priority. There are some non-LI companions I adore, too (I'm talking about you, Bowdaar), but if I had to choose who got attention from the devs, it would be the LIs. I never played a game with romantic interests and I've sadly enjoyed it too much. :p

Yeah, it's sad to say it, but it's pretty clear any hope of ALL companions getting time in the spotlight will likely be in vain. There's just too many of them between the class companions, the KotFE/KotET companions, the Star Fortress companions, Shae and Nico from the subscriber rewards, and so on. The money and people they had to make that happen for the class stories are both long gone.

I have non-LI companions I love too (Teeseven is actually my favorite Knight companion, because T7 + Jedi = win!), but with numbers having to be narrowed down to make it feasible it seems reasonable to single out LI companions for attention over non-LI ones. They tend to inspire stronger emotions in players as a rule.

  11. Maybe they did? But you know, Jonas Balkar and his specialization.:D "So many missed calls, I wonder...oh, Killjoy Shan, skip, oh for the sake of Garza's durasteel arse, not Jorgan! Skipskipskip, who dis other cat guy? Meh whatever, skip...oh! Oooohhh! Hubba hubba yeah, lady, come to papa Jon!"

I admit it, I laughed. XD Thanks for that, I needed it this morning.

To be fair, Jonas is a flirt but he's not that bad... though I can totally see him calling Theron "Killjoy Shan", based on their shared dev blog story together.

  12. Okaaaaay...I guess it takes more to convince me to kill someone or send them out to pasture than you. But I still think you're mostly motivated by the argument that "My LI got killed, so yours should too." And that ain't a great look.

All I said is that if kill/dismiss options for LIs are a thing, then it shouldn't only happen to some LIs and not all LIs but one. Honestly I'd much prefer if there were no kill/dismiss options for LI companions period, but axing everyone except one single dev favorite companion only engenders resentment in large parts of the player base, as we've seen here on the forums. It's worse than kill options for all--and kill options for all, I repeat, is a very bad thing. It's basically picking the lesser of two evils in my book.

But again, as you said, this thread is about talking about more companion interactions overall, which I definitely support. I'd like to move away from The Lana Variety Hour and have more of an ensemble cast again like the early days of the Alliance storyline.

  13. That sounds really...spiteful. If my LI got killed, yours should be, too. Not a great argument. And that aside, the kill option has to make sense from a story standpoint. I'm sorry, but that just doesn't exist in the case of Lana, no matter how much some people dislike her. Maybe she'll betray the commander in the future, but until now she hasn't done anything other than mildly creep out a handful of people for dubious reasons, allegedly hang around too much, and give advice considered questionable. Those aren't killable offenses unless you're the darkest, wackiest Sith ever. Reasons to not want to be best friends with someone, sure, but not to pull the trigger.

Anyway, can we please punt the "Let's Kill Lana!" fury back over to its own thread? This thread is about giving ALL companions more screen time--a worthy goal that I'm sure you can agree with.

Your bias is showing pretty heavily there, insisting people have no legitimate reason to want to get rid of Lana. The character might not have done anything worthy of death/dismissal from your perspective, but that's not true for everyone. Hell, in this story patch those who chose to side with the Republic apparently found out the SIS had been trying to contact the Alliance Commander and Lana hadn't been letting the messages go through and didn't tell your Outlander about them! That's pretty disturbing. It would definitely be worth a "Sorry, I can't trust you anymore, please leave" dismissal for a lot of toons, and possibly a murder from some of the more paranoid and violent protagonists.

As far as bringing up the 'kill/get rid of Lana' subject goes, blame the troll.

  14. In my main Legacy 6 of my characters are Heterosexual males, 3 of my characters are female and only 1 romances Theron! I am not a rabid Theron fan, but I AM a fan of what makes most sense for the choices I make. Lana being the Quest Giver for Jedi Under Siege makes no sense for those choices. A Republic character does. Period.

Agreed. If Theron was dead or banished in someone's playthrough, Aric Jorgan would have been the next logical option to get in touch with Jonas (since they worked together in the Trooper story and Jonas is the one who pointed Havoc Squad at the Alliance). If they were both dead or gone, Bey'wan would have been a secondary fallback. This isn't about rabid fandoms, this is about story logic and common sense. The former head of Sith Intelligence would be just about the last person to get someone in touch with a friendly SIS contact.

  15. Look, i was obviosly trolling. I am just tired of all the jealous Lana hate and with the way companions with kill/imprison/ban options are handled after that point the demand by some players to have a kill option for Lana is worrying me. Right now the Lana romance is de facto the only romance with continous content and i don't want that content to stop because some players are angry because their LI got bricked.

I totaly understand the anger and frustration. I agree that for rep side players it made no damn sense that Lana would talk to her SIS contacts instead of Theron. It would have been better if the Odessen LI sunset scene would have been for every LI instead of just for Lana (and kinda LS Jaessa).

But then to hate on Lana and demand to brick her too is absolutely selfish and with the Lana kill option thread continously staying on the top page i felt the need to troll back. Taking away from others so they suffer too is not the way to go! THAT is selfish. I'd support your demand for more scenes with your LIs anyday, anytime. But if it comes at the expense of the last remaining functioning LI during the last years my support drops to zero.

My rep main is a smuggler and i love, love, love the Risha romance. I'd loved her to be part of the main story and have more companion interactions with my queen in crime. But not at the expense of other LIs. Kill options for companions are absolute garbage and catering to a small group of haters (let us finaly kill the traitor Quinn blablabla) was just a baaaaaaaad idea. So bad.

I'll oppose every kill option, no matter if i like the character or not. Just because i hate a character doesn't mean that it should get taken away from someone else. And with the limited ressources right now this is what happens. Less companions = less voice actors = less payments for voice acting = more money for other content. It's sad, but i don't see it changing in the future.

Very classy of you to go out of your way to insult and upset other people on a subject where emotions are already running high. I admit, I took the bait. Hope you're proud of yourself. The fact you won't even apologize for trolling and making a tense situation worse for giggles tells me everything I need to know about you.

What I think is selfish? Insisting that one LI companion, out of all the LI companions, deserves special treatment because reasons. I don't hate Lana--I actually like Lana--but I do hate how she's been given plot armor and 90+ percent of companion screen time and attention. I hate how that special treatment means the devs will continue to cheap out and give her more and more attention while all other companions fall by the wayside. I hate how the most vocal Space Waifu Lana fans insist anyone who isn't also in love with Lana is either a kill all the things edgelord or a homophobe. I hate how those same fans will also call the kill options on other LIs "karma" and justified, but will insist Space Waifu Lana should never receive one because they don't want one. That is selfishness.

I don't like kill options for LIs; I agree they were a horrible idea and I wish the devs could retcon them all out of existence and give people some proper companion interactions again. That said, if they're going to be a thing, I think it's a hell of a lot more fair for all LIs to have a kill option rather than for most LIs to have a kill option (and vanish from the story afterwards) while a lucky few dev favorites remain immortal and hog the spotlight forever.

  16. And i am glad about that because i enjoyed Lana from the moment i first met her! I am a convinced Lanaist and absolutely loved the chance to finaly propose, the sunset scene during 5.10 and to finaly learn how she is currently viewed among other Sith. They don't like her at all. Well played devs, well played. You might even consider it a nice little wink towards the Lana haters :D

Lana is life, Lana is love :p

(especially since she has the same voice actress as Miranda Lawson in the german game client and i absolutely adored Miranda's story arc during Mass effect)

I want more Lana, so much more. 24/7 Lana Beniko, just to make me happy and troll the Lana haters :D

Selfish much? Lana is not the only companion in this game. Other people deserve to have companions they like put in the spotlight. Also, your smug potshots at 'Lana haters' just make those of us who like Space Waifu Lana usually but are getting sick of her being shoved in our faces constantly a lot less sympathetic towards the Space Waifu Lana fans' demands that she never get a kill option. Why should I worry about your favorite companion potentially being bricked when you are literally gloating about every companion but Lana being already bricked?

  17. I have to chime in and say I agree on this thread. I have a lot of issues with 5.10 and how it's been handled (and I mean A LOT), but the design of the planet of Ossus itself is wonderful. It has a very distinctive color palette and some gorgeous spaces. I'm particularly fond of the interior of the Jedi Library; you really feel like you're standing in a long abandoned part of history.
  18. You clearly didn't read a word I said. I said that the saboteur idea and not having Theron there is half-baked, but feel free to ignore that. And feel free to continue using pejorative and inappropriate terms like 'waifu' and ignore anything that doesn't suit the narrative you've constructed.

The narrative I've constructed? Every time anyone posts any critique of Space Waifu Lana at all, you either paint them as murderous edgelords who want to kill all toons, or accuse them of being mad at Space Waifu Lana for just existing and that everyone's being unfair and mean to Space Waifu Lana for no good reason.

All I literally said in the post you responded to was that it made no sense 1) that she'd put you in touch with Jonas if Theron is still alive because Jonas and Theron are friends, and 2) that she's the only one we're allowed within the game to tell about being a saboteur of either faction. I even repeated TWICE that I liked Space Waifu Lana, and also said I had no desire to kill off Space Waifu Lana on any of my toons.

And yet you immediately went off about how "OMG you guys are just mad at Lana for existing!" in response to that post. Let me remind you of exactly what you said:

But in the context of the story, the character is in two scenes. We're to the point where Lana cannot even be in the role that she's been scripted in, as quest giver, without bleating and lowing about it. I honestly think that if they had Lana doing as much as walking in the background in a scene people would have something to say about it.

    <snip>

Whatever, though. We get it, Lana breathes in a scene and OH NOES WHHYYYYY IT'S NOT THERON NOOOOO.

You really shouldn't be accusing anyone else of pushing a biased agenda when your own is so blatantly clear. You also shouldn't paint all people who disagree with you as unreasonable and unable to make happy when you immediately fly off the handle when anyone criticizes a fictional character you like or praises a fictional character you don't like.

  19. Can we stop using the word 'waifu' seeing as this isn't a Japanese anime?

As I understand it (haven't played through a saboteur yet), Lana actually sends an email asking if you want to tell anyone else. The entire saboteur idea is half-baked and puts the PC in the position of lying to their Alliance, and in a lot of cases it isn't even plausible that the old faction would ever trust the PC again.

It's not Lana's fault the devs are putting out unbelievably stupid ideas. I don't think anyone likes this saboteur deal or that Theron is not a part of Republic characters'/Imperial characters plans, regardless of how they feel about Lana.

But in the context of the story, the character is in two scenes. We're to the point where Lana cannot even be in the role that she's been scripted in, as quest giver, without bleating and lowing about it. I honestly think that if they had Lana doing as much as walking in the background in a scene people would have something to say about it.

And also in the context of the scene, Theron shouldn't even be there as far as I'm concerned. He himself says in Nathema that he has to work himself back up to a position of trust, so as far as my characters are concerned, if they let him remain in the Alliance, he'd be cleaning toilets somewhere and certainly would not be in the war room making decisions with me.

Whatever, though. We get it, Lana breathes in a scene and OH NOES WHHYYYYY IT'S NOT THERON NOOOOO.

Once again you ignore my points in favor of defending Space Waifu Lana from anything that isn't 100% praise. I don't know how many times I have to repeat that I like Lana and I'm only getting sick of the character because of how she's always shoved in our faces regardless of our choices even when it makes no sense--like putting us in touch with Jonas when Theron is still alive AND is canonically his friend in our story--before you'll actually listen. Nowhere in my post did I say I hated Lana just for existing and being in the scenes at all, as you like to paint everyone who is critical of Space Waifu Lana in any way. I get it, she can do no wrong in your eyes, but the rest of us would like our choices to actually matter as the devs originally promised. We'd like our story to actually make sense from a continuity and lore standpoint too.

P.S. You think Theron shouldn't be doing anything but scrubbing toilets for the Alliance, and therefore you declare it doesn't make sense for anyone else to want to trust him again so he shouldn't be an option for the forest scene? Talk about trying to force your choices and opinions on everyone else.

  20. It's simple IF you choose the Republic, she should NOT be setting you up with the SIS! She should NOT be telling you how to act if you're Sabotaging the Imperials, and she should NOT be the only NPC who knows you're a saboteur! They HAVE taken Theron out of his role. And they put Lana in a role she does NOT belong in.

Now, if you Left Theron, or Banished Him, and chose the Empire then SHE should do it.

However, there is NO justification for her keeping the SIS's offers to you, a secret! NONE, ZERO, ZIP NAADAA! That's not loyalty!

Not to mention if you still have Theron alive, it makes ZERO sense for anyone other than him to be the one saying they'll put you in contact with their SIS contacts. He and Jonas are canonically friends in the story! The devs published a story featuring the two on their dev blog! Jonas is the one that passed along Theron's info to Havoc Squad and got them to join the Alliance! So why now are they deciding Lana is the one who has Jonas as a contact?

And seriously, why can't we tell anyone other than Lana when we're being a saboteur of either faction? Why is it assumed our characters only trust Lana enough out of ALL our companions and potential LIs to tell her the truth and leave everyone else in the dark? Such blatant shoving of the Star Wars waifu in our face is what's making me sick of Lana and losing sympathy for the people who defend her special favorite status in the game. It's not the character itself--which I like--but the fact everyone else is being thrown out because the writers love Lana the most and only want to write about her.

I have no desire to kill Lana on my toons. I like Lana. However, maybe if Lana DID have a kill/dismiss/leave behind option, then the writers would be forced to come up with actual alternative scenarios. They'd have to actually write, animate, and voice quest-giver lines for multiple companions so that they can account for who you still have left around when plot points happen, so they always have someone who can give you story information and send you on the next quest. Right now they can just give it all to Space Waifu Lana and continue to cheap out of creating additional character options. That's what's frustrating me.
