Apologizing for bringing this thread up again, but I want to answer a couple of things that people wrote as answers to my initial post.
When I wrote this post I was 5 kitted with Columi + a couple of Rakata and gear was close or better than my fellow sorc healer, but I was still under preforming. I'm now running with my gear being mainly Rakata, where my co-sorc is still Columi kitted, and he's still outhealing me by far. This wasn't a question of me being undergeared or not knowing my class, this was an observation where merc healing is a lot worse off than a sorc.
I still belive that even though I've gradually got geared better and ready for (what should be the gear standard) Nightmaremodes, I don't think it's gonna be an easy fight at all. Someone mentioned Soa's platform jumping earlier and I can only agree... It's really tough to keep up with that as a merc with a undertuned AOE heal and heals that doesnt go a lot further than 3k. But back to Nightmare mode, the only thing that will keep me from thinking that I will fail as soon as we get to harder fights is that I know my class, I'm a bloody good healer and I know how to play. I feel sorry for other mercs being put to side because the class is a ***** playing right now, when the concept is pretty damn amazing.
This is an extreme example of how right I actually am, either it being mercs being weak or sorcs being too overpowered. This isn't how the fights are supposed to be, and if you really think that it's fun smashing the bosses in the faces and be done with it after 10 minutes... then you're not playing the game for the game.
I've been more and more aware of how healing is for the different classes and the skill level of the people I play with, and maybe we're not the best team in the history of world, but it's still pretty clear that the difference between the classes isn't only the different ways of healing but how strong they are in comparison to eachother.
I still think, and I still need to see something happen to close the gap between the healing classes.
