  1. I wouldn't buy the sub-50 PvP unless you PvP exclusively and just WZ comms coming out of your ears (this actually depends on a lot of things; how close you are to 50, if your gear is just terrible, how easily you earn them etc). For some reason BW capped WZ comms at 2000 so instead of wasting them on god knows what or just holding on to them once you're valor level 40 you should start trading them in for Ranked WZ comms. This way once you hit 50 you may be able to afford a piece of Battlemaster/War Hero gear right off the bat. You can trade them in at the PvP vendor standing to the left of the PvP mission terminal on the Republic Fleet (I think they are in the same place on the Imp fleet). It's a 3 WZ comm for 1 Ranked WZ comm deal. Hope this helped!
  2. 12 seconds (15 w/ Combat Medic set bonus) every 2 minutes just doesn't seem worth the point to me. I had it specc'd when was full heals but this build I just couldn't bring myself to use a point for it. I'm going to have to rework this build once 1.3 comes because I forgot the Target Lock will be providing 30% armor penetration for HiB and FA. Maybe I'll try it out then. Do you use it in a hybrid-ish build like this? How has it worked out?
  3. I'm not going to say that this is going to make the Commando a front line class but it's a step in the right direction. I really started enjoying PvP more as I accepted the fact that I'm a background player. I like that BW is thinking of us but I think they just need to tweak a few things instead of outright changing abilities/talents. Some thoughts I've had, and I would appreciate any info/suggestions anyone has on these. I'm not going to claim I have all the answers but if you're just going to post something like "Class is fu*****. Sub cancelled." keep it to yourself please, I don't profit from your sub so I don't care. That being said: Obviously first off, make Cell Charger work with Full Auto. Probably not going to happen with 1.3, but honestly it should have never been broken. Or at least fixed in 1.1. Change Expolsive Round to Expolsive Shot and make another more useful ability a "Round." Maybe Charged Rounds? It feels like a waste to have 2 talents work with rounds, Havoc Rounds and Cell Charger, to have this mostly useless ability be included. I realize that Havoc Rounds works with CB as is but if it was a round it could read "damage dealt by all rounds and HiB, FA or whatever; use your imagination." Make something uninterruptable. Mortar Volley sounds good seeing as it's on a long CD anyway so it's not like you can spam it. I know medics get Combat Shield but that's pretty far up the tree for a DPS class to try and mess with. Having this be a proc seems appropriate. Make Concussion Charge similar to the Smuggler's Leg Shot. A 5 second root that breaks after 2 if damage occurs. Would do wonders to keep the glow stick guys off our backs. I don't see how this could be seen as unbalanced either. If you stay rooted for 5 that means I took off. You're still alive to go glow stick someone else to death. If I decide to stay on the offensive you get to move after 2 seconds w/o a slow; from Concussion charge anyway, I will glady hook you up with one with FA:). I don't think these tweaks would make anything unbalanced. I've always felt the Commando was one or two good tweaks away from being on par with everyone else. Nothing major but they would have to be well thought out. So let me know if you feel the same way or have any CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms. If you are going to tear me down at least support your argument and be creative; "OMG **** n00b" is not as creative as one would think, reach deep down and write some new hurtful things to say about me. Thanks.
  4. I actually use Full Auto(FA) for damage much more than GR. don't get me wrong GR is a big part but when it, or CB, procs Curtain of Fire I always use FA right away. Maxed out it gives you a 45% chance to finish the cool down on FA and increases it's damage by 25%. Combined with Rotary Cannon (33% inc. in dmg.) and Deadly Cannon (15% crit. dmg boost) it can really hit hard. Plus Cell Chargers ability to generate ammo on crits with FA essentially makes it cost 1 ammo. Maybe I'm lucky but it seems it can proc it every other GR/CB I cast. So it ends up being one of my big dmg attacks. It also has a snare thanks to Cover Fire.
  5. To boil everything in this thread in this thread into one post: Recruit gear is absolutely necessary for PvP. Don't be the guy in a WZ with PvE gear. If you have moddable gear, in my opinion anyway, it might be better to do the dailies and mod that gear than use the recruit gear for PvE. PvP gear has better armor ratings but the main stats (aim, strengthj etc) are lower. You can get armoring and barrels/hilts for 8 daily commendations each from the daily vendors on Ilum, Belsavis and Corellia. You can also get Rakata level earpieces and implants for 120 daily commendations each. If you do all the dailies on all 3 planets including the heroics you will get around 36 daily commendations. And somewhere in the neighborhood of 300k creds. As far as Ops go I would rather bring someone through the daily heroics (these are where you'll get purple mods) to gear you up prior to a raid than have you wearing recruit gear. You can also get Tionese gear as drops in some Hard Mode FP's. Black Hole commendations are a reward for the weekly quest in the Black Hole area in Corellia. There are other ways to get them but don't worry about those for now.
  6. Would you mind posting a link to where you saw this? Thanks. EDIT: Never mind. Found it my self http://dulfy.net/2012/06/06/free-recruit-pvp-gear-in-1-3/

    Stun Locking

I'm with this guy. I used to fly off the handle when I would get chain stunned. I t was extremely frustrating and it still is but it happens a lot less now. I sit there spinning around in my little lightning cloud (it's always a lightning cloud) and watch my ammo regen. I know as long as that guy wants me stunned I'm not going to be attacked. I use my CC breaker when I have full resolve and laugh at everyone that still tries to stun me. I'll pop it in situations that warrant it like stopping a cap/killing ball handler before goal or something else that requires immediate attention. Also to address some of the the other commando/mercs in this thread. We don't have as many tools to stun/interupt as other classes but we do have some. Cryo grenade is great because it doesn't break on damage, long CD but whatever. Use our instant cast abiliity (I forget the name something cell), than concussive round for an instant cast 8 sec mezz. Also putting the points in the increased knockback for concussive charge, it knocks people way further away and snare them with full auto. The knockback on stockstrike is awesome. Use it as an interrupt, plus it only has a 9 sec CD. Commandos/Mercs may not be as tough in PvP as some other classes but don't forget, you're playing a nameless, faceless type of character (Face how many troopers, of either the clone or storm variety die in the movies, BH's the only thing Boba Fett did was look cool, other that he feel in a hole with teeth in like 5 minutes in a fight). Your role is support. If your awesome enough to be at the front good on you. For the rest of us try taking a more back seat approach. I try to help out with heals and helping other DPS guys take out tough opponents. If that's not appealing maybe you should try another class.
  8. You win some you lose some. I play republic on Fatman and I've smoked the imps and I've had them smoke me. The Law of Averages tells us most of the people in this game/forum are average players. Some are really good and some are really bad. What you had was called a losing streak, it happens to everyone. I don't feel like anything is imbalanced except maybe population but not really much can be done about that unless you want to see a "Sorry this server has to many Imps/Pubs already" message when you want to roll a new character. Sounds like you just had a stretch of bad luck. Keep at it and I'm sure it will turn around. Maybe try sticking to one character, I know when I go from one class to another it takes a few rounds to get back into my rotation/what to use in oh $h*7 moments groove.
  9. While in Alderaan I noticed what looked like a sentinel whip out dual pistols. I said to myself "That's odd let me inspect this loose cannon." He was in fact a gunslinger, wearing a Jedi chest and head (not oranges modded for a smuggler just straight up Jedi blues and greens) . Here's how our convo went (I was on my gunslinger alt, below 50 queue): me: Dude you need to change your gear. him: why it's really good m: It's specced for a Jedi knight. Strength is useless for our class. h: ahhhh but it has good armor. m: Your missing the point. Your skills would be better. h: i do really good with this char. m: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ I'll let you guess how that WZ went.
  10. This is the build I am currently using for PvP. I just started using it so I still have some points I might toy around with. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800dfM0RZMIk0RrdRkc.1 This is very similar to your DPS/Heal build, although I do like having the buff for kolto bomb as it will also help out the other healers.I came up with this after reading the upcoming for changes in 1.3. Having the stack HiB build at the same rate as gravity vortex will make it much easier to to get in to your rotation. I was originally a pure healer but was constantly getting outhealed by the other healing classes and wasn't really much in a fight against anyone so I decided to try out this hybrid. So far it has been working out pretty well. My DPS/Helaing still isn't high as the other classes but I feel much more survivable and much more useful. This build really shines as a pure support role. You probably won't be on top of the Damage or Healing column but I have found myself at the top in the objective column far more often than pure heals, which is really what you should be gunning for protecting/gaining objectives. Being able to help pick people off with a DPS rotation but still help out your pure DPS/Tank buddies with some heals is very clutch. I am going to wait until 1.3 drops to start moving points around but so far this is what I am thinking about for possibilities: Possibly taking the point out of Cell Capacitor and putting it into Super Charge Cells and dancing between AP and CSC as necessary for the situation. My logic for this By gaining the 6 CSC charges from medical probe and regaining the green beam of awesome (plus it's stacks of CSC) I would be able to focus on healing a little more and I think I can gain the 30 stacks necessary to pop SCC and gain some ammo more often than I would gain the one extra from popping Recharge Cells. I would also gain the reduction in cost for FA and CB as well as the shield for KB. It might not be much but it could help out in a clutch moment. Maybe move the 2 points from Kolto Residue into Charged Barrier(ChB) now that it will also gain stacks along side Grav Round. This should help improve survivability. The problem with this is due to the support role of this build it may be hard to keep the charges of ChB up if I find myself doing mostly healing. This is not an exhaustive list but somethings I am thinking about. I'll have to see how the changes in 1.3 work out in play to make some more decisions. Please post if you have any ideas/criticisms/ suggestions on this build.
  11. I love that everyone who plays in a premade thinks they are the best players to walk the earth. Just because your in voice chat doesn't mean you're good. There is obvious advantages to having organization, but if you get all your teammates somewhere and they still have no clue how to play their class or start chasing people all over the place instead of covering the objective they will lose. I don't think adding separate queues for groups or for solo is going to do anything productive except make queues take longer. I have also noticed that being in voice chat can have a downside. I've noticed that some people when in premades will cal inc's on voice chat but forget to do it in Ops chat. So premades will have a tendency to isolate themselves from the rest of the ops group.
  12. You could try lowering the bloom setting in the graphics menu. I turned mine off from day one so I don't know how big a difference it will make but I don't really have any trouble seeing during intense AoE spam fests
  13. It's possible that there were some problems with the last batch of transfers that need to be fixed before the next round can begin. Anything is possible when dealing with the amount of data necessary for these transfers. I'll go out on a limb and say you would rather have your character transfer with all his stuff intact then find out some bug lost all your WZ comms or something. I'm also willing to bet BW knows what a big deal this is for everyone on dead servers. I don't believe they would willingly delay any transfers for any server without out a valid reason. As displeased as you are with your wait I'm sure there would be many more asterisk filled posts if something were to go wrong during any of these transfers. You have persevered this long through the queueless nights. You have weathered abandoned trade networks when supplies were badly in need. Better days are ahead, the promised land lays before you.
  14. I don't understand all the hate towards PUG's. I've been in PUG groups that did awesome. I do PvP in premades as well and I fun either way. It's fun stomping over people but I have just much fun playing in games where it's a struggle to keep one point. I like to test my abilities to see where I stand. Only player helping guard a point with me wearing Tionese gear, well guess I'm going to see how well I can heal through that. It's a challenge I enjoy. Not to say I haven't been frustrated before but that will happen in any game where other people are involved. Also something that never gets mentioned is that not everyone queuing as a single has no clue what they're doing. People queue alone for lots of reasons; rest of the guild is in an Op or HM FP, maybe just waiting for companion missions to finish so doing some matches to pass time, etc. TL;DR - It's all about having fun. Premades are cool but you can have some real challenging (aka fun, at least for me) matches in randoms. Sure they're are some VERY confused people playing PvP but not all of them, some can be pretty good.
  15. Judging by the amount asterisks in your reply it looks like you do mind going last. Someone had to be in your spot. If you think the dev's are going to read this and trashcan the schedule they have setup for the transfers you are sorely mistaken my friend. Wait your turn like everyone else did, it'll be worth it in the end.
  16. I don't want to sound like a jerk as my server already got transferred but someone had to draw the short straw. Some servers were going to have to go last and you got that spot. Sorry guy.
  17. I've only done EV twice on normal, gotten most of the way through False Emperor HM (it got late and our tank kept DC'ing due to power outage in his area) and I've killed some world bosses mostly solo but once I was able to get some low level guys involved on Drummond Koss (I was over leveled and just wanted the epic enemies). My guild started out strong when I first joined but dwindling server population got a lot of people waiting for transfers. Found out today our server is able to transfer to Fatman so I'm really looking forward to getting some new blood/older member back on in our guild to start running more OP's.
  18. As far as I know the only changes to stacks were for the Merc/Commando. They can only benefit from there own stacks of Tracer Missile/Grav Round.
  19. As far as I know the only changes to stacks were for the Merc/Commando. They can only benefit from there own stacks of Tracer Missile/Grav Round.
  20. The PvP armor for troopers (recruit/battlemaster) is the same model as the trainer but it comes in different colors.
  21. Here's the build for my Commando healer I am planning on going with: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#800dfMMRzfbkqZrcoZb.1 I planning on playing mostly PvE, only doing PvP as necessary to bu some of the PvP gear. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. This is the first time I am playing an MMO and certainly the first time in any game type I am going to be in a support role instead of directly involved in any action. So I have no clue what I am doing. Thanks in advance for any help.
