  1. What, like sent/mara or commando/merc? Why is it okay for the game to undergo such huge swings in balance and why is it ok to have one classes ability to do damage trump nearly every other classes ability to do the same? In mara fights, I spend more time trying to create space and combat the endless snaring/interrupting than I do casting anything. As such, I am left with dots (lol!) instant casts and talented Thundering Blasts + procs, which simply do not do enough damage to overcome their mitigation before I am out of defensive cd's and have no choice but to take a dirtnap. Maybe the situation improves at 70, I dunno, as it stands, I'm reluctant to bother. Why should I have to play 5 times better to be half as effective as someone else? Where's the incentive? As it is, beyond roleplay and looking at the pretty lights, if you want to play a ranged dps in PvP in this game you're doing yourself a disserve rolling a sage/sorc when there's other classes that do it so much better with 5 buttons. Or just create a melee character and faceroll your way to victory.
  2. I don't think they get it. If a class dies as soon as you sneeze at it, then that class should be able to output a truckton of damage as a trade-off for being so fragile. This is currently not the case for a lot of classes and instead we have lopsided travesties of match-ups were classes with insane damage output (merc/commando, sent/mara for instance) also have insane defences and self-healing. I don't know what the developers are doing exactly when they're tweaking numbers and adding/removing abilities, but it certainly isn't balancing classes for PvP.
  3. I don't understand why some crew of bean counters at Disney aren't all: "Hey guyz, we're riding high on the movies and we've re-kindled the love of Star Wars for generations old and new, what say you we commission a respectable games studio, or create an in-house team and finally launch "THE" WoW killer - a Star Wars MMO based on the current lore? We'd clean up!" "Yeah, but what about that Bioware thing, what's it called, "Star Wars: The Old something or other"? "Nah, not an issue, all that stuff was thrown out with the bathwater when we ditched the Expanded Universe, besides, doesn't that game have like about 5k subscribers?" "Great! Let's take this to the Fat Cats and get a green light. Dibs on being a Jedi!"
  4. Mara/Sent have more tools to stay in your face and stop you hard casting than you have to keep them out of it. Saying it's a, "l2play" issue is disingenuous, considering the devs have seen fit to weight those fights so they're lopsided. In the context of your example, sorcs are garbage, because only bad maras lose to a sorc. Even if we were to take the stance that the current meta is that sages/sorc are back of the line artillery, it's a common fact that they are the 1st to be targetted in any wz, because they're practically free kills and even considering the uncommon incidents were a wz full of enemy players are somehow stupid enough to leave one standing there turreting, the damage is still crap compared to other ranged classes.
  5. From a PvP standpoint at least, it's all glass and no cannon. The damage is sub-par compared to other classes, the mitigation is lacking and there's next to no ways to keep players out of your face that they don't have 27 counters for. I'm confused as to what is even the point? Apart from roleplay elements, "I R TEH JEDEYE!!1111", there's nothing to be achieved playing/rolling a sage/sorc as a ranged dps that can't be done 10x better by a commando/merc, or sniper/slinger. Help me out here.
  6. Recently got myself a 32" G-Sync 4K monitor. I regularly lose the tiny cursor when there's a lot happening on screen, especially in warzones. No, I'm not a clicker per se, most of my stuff is hotkeyed, but I still need the cursor occasionally :/
  7. Just come back to the game after quite some time away and was puzzled as to why stuff like this is seemingly removed. Ran Essele's a couple of times on my boosted new character before I realised stuff wasn't dropping. I'm a big fan of these simple, but elegant robes for my Jedi characters and I was hoping there's an equivalent model in-game still for outfit designer purposes?
  8. Because leaderboards matter in warzones, right? If you want to be No.1 on the boards I think you're playing the wrong game. Warzones are about the objectives and losing them is usually down to too many players pre-occupied with being on top.
  9. I can top the damage meter easily, but we suck in 1 v 1 fights and have no real pressure to bear on healers etc, unless you got 2-3 tele/lightning sages popping their cd's at once on them. We have mediocre burst damage, sub-par survivability beyond Palabubble and middling sustained damage, even with Madness dot spread. I'm just tired of seeing all this "nerf sorcs!" stuff and other players crying about the class when those of us in the trenches are wondering if everyone else is playing the same game as we are.
  10. Tell me how the sages/sorcs are beating your mara then. It would be much more constructive than your post was otherwise.
  11. I'm in full DR gear with mainstat augments and have power and healing numbers a good 200 below both of yours. Where are you getting the extra from?
  12. I'm not seeing the sorc uberness, unless you're talking about healing. Both Madness and Lightning are uber-squishy and regardless of shield, supposedly buffed heals and the occasional palabubble, which only delays the inevitable, sorcs are chewtoys for nearly everyone. Even Lightning, the supposed bust spec, has no real burst to speak of. Meanwhile a marauder for instance can stay on me constantly and kill me in 4 gcd's. Other ranged classes have far superior burst AND sustained damage. What is this domination you speak of?
  13. Burst damage is too high from some classes. You can go from 45k hp to dead in about 4 gcd's, not from focus-fire from multiples, but ONE player. Healing is way, WAY overtuned atm. Pair a jug/guardian or even a sent/mara with a healer and you have a trainwreck going through your team that you can do very little about because of mobility and healer immortality. CC abilities are ridiculous and total lockdown and loss of control of your character is par for the course. Lolslash, Force Choke, Force Push, AOE blinds and mezzes etc, it's too much and Resolve doesn't work. Things are far more fun in the lower brackets. At least you can actually do some PvP without, you know, getting instagibbed most of the time. In this case, gear DOESN'T fix it and in solo regs, you seriously might as well just not bother and zone in with <172 gear and let Bolster pick up the slack. The gear grind is pointless. It does nothing for your character, unless ofc you're playing one of the fotm classes. Fix it, or kiss a lot of subs goodbye. 3.3 was supposed to be the great leveller, easing the pain of gearing to get more players into PvP. What do you think they're going to do when they see this crap going down?
  14. Grind your way to full augmented Dark Reaver and still get 3-4 shotted by other classes, obilterated in on stun by others if your cc break is on cd, lopsided matches where one team has 3 healers and the other side, from the same faction, has none. Your game is a joke Biofail and I don't see what 3.3 was meant to accomplish when end-game PvP is such a poor experience, unless you queue premades to faceroll pugs. Come back Blizzard, all is forgiven.
  15. This online gambling is a con. I bought 24 packs and got next to nothing. The only items I was after were the new trooper armor pieces. Didn't even get one. That's the last time I spent cartel coins on this jumped-up lucky dip bs.
  16. Bubble stun is single use as Madness, dots break it instantly. Creeping terror only works once every 9 seconds. Our heals are only really good after palabubble. I'm not going to bother with the rest as Resolve will have kicked in by the time you're in that much trouble you need to use your stun. If you're being kited all day by a sorc/sage you're a very bad mara. Atm, once they get in their openers, a good mara v good sorc = game over for the sorc. The rock, paper, scissors game is weighted too heavily to their side. Even if you create some space, with far more effort than it takes the other player to stay on you I might add, try unleash your Lightning alpha strike etc and they just hit a defensive cd and soak it up. A second later you've got two sabers back in your face again.
  17. Doesn't matter what I do, it seems to me that unless I have assistance in any fight v melee, their stay in range ability trumps my get out of the way abilities every single time. I'm so busy mashing cooldowns, snares and heals trying to keep them away and myself alive that I can't do much damage. It's worse as Lightning, as there's practically no opportunities to create a burst window, as the reliance on hard-casting means you're shut down & interrupted pretty much constantly. Your only hope is to snipe them while they're busy with someone else, but even then this class is sub-par at that with paltry crits on hard cast abilities compared to other ranged classes and no "execute" style attack to finish anyone off. Our heals are crap and we're not even a glass cannon, more like a glass pea-shooter. Think I'll just roll a vanguard and global peeps while I spam /lol emotes at them.
  18. I hear a lot of soundbite about how these classes are dogmeat for a sorc/sage. Not seeing it myself. I simply have less tools to keep them off me than they have to stay in melee range, or get in melee range should I get some distance. As madness, I have very little burst damage to call on so I'm relying on sustained, which is crap. Should I try to set up my limited burst window with Lightning/Leech/Proc, they have defensive cd's to blow it off while they get back to smashing my face in. What am I doing wrong? Force slow is useless, I'm perma-snared and rooted by Master Strike when it's off cd. I can't create distance as they just Force Leap back in my face.
  19. The big deal is the pricing is not consistent and it's unfair. If you have two slots to fill, regardless of your class and/or combinations of mainhand and offhand, the end token price should be the same. Your "just because" didn't really contribute to the question being asked, why did you post?
  20. ...and I'll say it again, the data containing information about a game character does not contain personal information that would fall foul of data protection laws. Are you telling me that all our SWTOR characters have our name, address, dob and other private information attached to the database entry? No. That would be silly. Why would that be the case? Nothing is being moved from one region to the other, they're just editing a location entry to so that instead of server X, the character is on server Y. All personal info is held on a completely seperate server and is only involved with logging into the game, it has nothing to do with where your characters are. Until Bioware quote chapter & verse on why they aren't offering this service (it's certainly not a tech issue), I remain sceptical.
  21. Thanks for the reply, but I'm still not buying it. The fact that as an EU customer, I can create dozens of characters on US servers still leads me to believe this is a non-issue. Moving a few bits & bytes in one part of the database to another part of the database to make character X appear on this server instead of that server cannot seriously be contravening privacy laws. The name of your character, what's in their bank/inventory and what gear they have etc does not contain personal information. That's the domain of the account and login servers, which are not involved in the playing of the game once we get past the launcher process. That being said, if I players from either region can play on the other region regardless, then data protection is not an issue and if it is not an issue, there is no barrier to moving characters from one server to another other than those self-imposed by Bioware. Until they weigh-in and give concrete reasons for why they aren't facilitating this, all "evidence" is just speculation.
  22. Sounds like bs to me. There are no personal details involved here for what is basically just a few 1 & 0's in a database. The information that determines what characters you have, what rep they have and what gear etc is in no way something that should come under the remit of any data protection act in a way that would obstruct the question in hand, it's just GAME data, not personal information about the account holder. You can roll characters on US servers if you're in the EU and vice-versa, so the account information is obviously on a central server that complies with international law on data protection. It makes no difference to the login server where you are once the handshake to validate account status has occurred, you can log into whatever server you like. That being the case, if there were any legal issues with regards to having GAME DATA on a server in your non-geographical locale, you wouldn't be able to do so. No EU player would be able to have characters on US servers. This leads me to conclude it's a "cba" issue on behalf of Bioware, which is pretty stupid considering the cartel coins they'd sell for international transfers.
  23. Maybe Bioware should take a leaf out of Blizzards book then.
  24. I've been playing off an on since launch and only recently achieved lvl 50 on one Legacy. That was playing a bunch of alts to 50, then 55, then 60 with multiple side-quests, dailies and story quests for each character, long before the 12x xp boost. Dunno about you, but anyone that actually likes doing that must have a masochistic streak If the benefits were intangible and it was just another XBox-alike gamurscore, then it wouldn't be so much of an issue, but a decent legacy level is necessary for QOL perk unlocks on new and existing characters. The rep grinds are seperate and equally as horrific with again, decent rewards for bothering with it. It just seems counter-productive to dissuade those players that aren't in the minority that enjoys endless grinds from rolling new characters on new servers, especially across regions.
  25. Seriously, cartel market purchases and associated unlocks can be enjoyed on any character, any server with no restrictions, so it's not like it's a tech limitation. ...but reputation and legacy levels remain confined to each legacy on one server. If this is a cartel coin money sink to gouge players for server transfers, it's poorly done as at least you could offer transfers between regions. Have you any concept of how much of a pain it is to level your legacy to 50, or grind reputations for rep rewards when often the associated content is time-gated, usually to a ridiculously restrictive degree (e.g. months and months between Gree event). Bah!
