  1. Vanguards are imo generally tougher, being more able to handle fights at close quarters which a lot of enemies will try to create. They also are the Tank-spec, and if it's pure individual toughness you're going for they can survive nearly anything thrown at them in PvE. A hybrid tank/dps spec is also very hard to take down, and will finish encuonters faster than pure tank. Commando does have healing, of course, and throws out damage at a longer range. Heavy armour helps their survival too. They're certainly not a fragile class.
  2. The only thing I can think of now is my Sith Warrior lady, all decked out in full warrior gear, lightsaber at her belt, tattoos, weird eyes, and everything else walking into a pet shop and demanding a kitten. And after she leaves, the staff look at each other until one says, "She's going to eat it, isn't she." And then back to the ship, where she and Vette are tickling the kittens tummy, going "Coochy-coo! Who's a pretty kitty then!" Otherwise, I'm pleased by the news. And willing to wait for it to be implemented.
  3. That's usually the best way to do it. I'd also advise using CC on one or more of the Strong/Elite mobs. You can get too many of them on you, and even with the trash being cleared out you'll take a lot of damage quickly. If you can tank one Elite mob, CC two strong, and have the DPS clear up the trash before helping with the Elite that's a better tactic than grabbing everything yourself at once. That does mean that a lot of AoE damage being thrown around is a bad idea, as it breaks CC. If some of your classes are heavily into AoE, you have to adapt your tactics to that.
  4. It's interesting how Rock considers Paper to be overpowered, and wants either to be powered up itself or to have Paper nerfed. Although of course the balance between Rock and Scissors is fine, from the point of view of Rock.
  5. Server: Trask Ulgo Character: Hermel Kutrigur Level: currently 30 I've a friend I sometimes play with who rolls Sage, so I've made techblades for him. Most recently, a Purple Level 25. I think I have the l.29 schematic, but haven't yet made any.
  6. I haven't been through the whole thread, so forgive me if this has already been posted. .
  7. Healers and Tanks BFF 4evah.
  8. If you follow that last piece of advice about gunslinger/sniper, expect to die. A lot. They're mechanically complex classes (I think the Scoundrel/Operative are harder, myself) in lighter armour that do a lot of damage. Although the Smuggler storyline is great fun, and you'll have lots of opportunities to snark and flirt. Note that the Scoundrel has stealth, and can get past a lot of encounters without having to fight. Sage/Sorcerer (Jedi Consular/Sith Inquisitor advanced classes, selected at level 10) are generally regarded as overpowered. The Consular storyline starts of quite interesting, from what I saw. The Knight didn't grab me, story-wise, though it does seem to be one a lot of people enjoy. Guardian is tough to kill, Sentinel is rather more a glass cannon. The Bounty Hunter is very tough, and I like the story up to 28. Powertech is close range melee, tank/dps, while Mercenaries are ranged DPS/healing - equivalent to the Republic Trooper Vanguard and Commando builds.
  9. I'm Blaise. Blaise Modestas. Probably too old a reference for most to recognise.
