  1. I noticed today that turning off nameplate scaling and friendly npc nameplates made the game much smoother
  2. Yeah i sort of care more about fps than graphics to a certain extent... i try aim for stable 60fps with bloom and terrain on but everything else on low/off... which is almost achievable for my machine but it gets too hot after 30 mins or so and throttles I think with the right driver this would be achievable
  3. Problem is i dont think windows 8 plays nicely with pre-307 drivers... Going to give the 310 ones a go...
  4. Hi guys, First of all, though i'm looking for opinions from all Nvidia GPU users, I personally have an Alienware m14x R2 with a 650M GT and am currently running the 307.17 driver recommended by Dell. I am also running windows 8. Just wondering what people have found are the best Nvidia drivers for SWTOR to-date. From my googling it seems different versions work differently for different games. 314.14 beta, 314.07, 313.96 beta, 310.90, 307.17 have all been proclaimed as being superior but just wondering what people have found for SWTOR specifically. I'm also interested in what Nvidia 3D profile settings people are using for SWTOR. My settings for both the "launch.exe" file (which appears as WoW?) and "swtor.exe" are in the spoiler tags with my SWTOR graphic settings: I use vertical sync (fps locked to max 60) because otherwise the game looks a bit choppy even at much higher fps. After a while (an hour) of playing my GPU throttles and my fps drops which has been annoying me a lot lately. Wondering if changing my driver or any of these settings might help relieve the strain on my GPU... Let me know what you think! Thanks!
  5. That's all we (or I at least) ask. Thank you
  6. I guess its more stalling rather than ignoring now... or a bit of both
  7. The problem I see is that everyone leaves before seeing how many US players transfer back and what the population and game play are like. They may even want to transfer back if they see that the merger is successful. Also because it would be a limited time deal I.e. you can get free transfers if you request in the next 2 weeks, even people that wanted to see how the new server is wont be able to stay because if they do they will miss out on the free transfer Anyway I guess it's not a MAJOR point so long as they at least try a merger rather than shipping us all out
  8. Right well since ur no longer playing on APAC servers this thread doesn't really concern you. We know paid transfers are coming some time in the future so wait for them. Selfish to expect everyone to deal with transfers rather than a merger just because u want to go play on an EU server...
  9. So you wouldn't even give the new server a chance for just a month? TBH i think there would be more flagged players running around in open world PVP areas than the total number of players in the same area on Master D'. It would at least be worth trying it out to see
  10. Well actually if you see the full version i posted (won't quote the full thing here because it's huge but click on the exceprt below) i actually spent quite a bit of time thinking of ways the RP population could be accommodated in a merged server. I didn't do this for myself; i came up with a solution that could work for the most amount of people. Perhaps you could do the same rather than just telling everyone what you don't want.
  11. Transfers wont achieve the same thing - we will go from 30ms to like 500ms and will be playing at different times to the US players. Both of these can quite significantly impact our enjoyment of the game. It will also fragment the community. MIght be the easiest option for them but wont be the best for us... As i've said before best thing for us would be to 1) merge; 2) transfers from US to APAC; 3) 1 month later allow transfers from APAC to US; 4) ... profit
  12. I've recently had a few ideas about how we can accommodate RP's... Let me know what you guys think A dedicated "RP instance" On servers that actually have a population, they have multiple instances - like there may be 2 or 3 instances of the fleet and people in one instance can't see those in the other unless they are grouped. Something similar could be implemented so that RP players can toggle into an "RP instance" on planets/fleet (by typing "/rp" or similar) and play there as long as they want doing RP stuff. In the unlikely occurrence that some douche feels the need to go to the trouble of purposely entering the RP instance just to troll, then he/she can be "vote kicked" from it by enough people typing "/rpkick Trolling******e". Come to think of it a similar thing could be implemented for PVP players so they can have world PVP... though that's practically what flagging for PVP on a PVE server is like anyway i guess... Dedicated RP chat channel Ties in with the last idea in that you are automatically switched to the RP channel when you enter the RP instance. Or you can stay in the regular PVE instances and join the RP chat from there. Group finder/warzone option - "Join RP groups only" Players with this ticked will only be paired with other RP players. So, as I've said before, this would be the optimal solution in my opinion... 1. Merge all the APAC servers into a single PVE server, implementing the above suggestions - The reasoning around this has been described many times. Keep the awesome latency, correct prime/op times, guilds, legacies and local community whilst boosting the population. 2. Offer FREE transfers FROM US servers TO the APAC server - A bid to get those APAC players that left or rolled on US servers due to the population issues, to come back. 3. Offer PAID transfers from the APAC server to US servers after a month or so - gives those who still hate PVE or have some other problem with the APAC server after some time trying it, an opportunity to get out. Could possibly make this process free for PVP and RP players if that's not too complicated. ... Everyone wins? (P.S. Sorry this post is so huge)
  13. Sure but the forums are the only real way bioware can assess the opinion of the community. And seeing as how this thread has 265 pages in which the majority of people are for mergers one can only assume that the general consensus is that we want merged servers. No not everyone agrees but the majority seems to. I'm glad you are happy but please consider the (probable) majority of those who are not
  14. Surely you're joking... just leveled a sent on Dalborra and i probably did half the heroics despite my attempts at solo'ing. constant polite spamming in general and begging guildies to run me through
  15. Well they've merged US servers and their tech seems to be holding up. I'm from Dalborra and while our population is not as terrible as the other 2 APAC servers it is far from fantastic nor anything like the US server pops. I believe the populations will continue to decline with ftp school and uni kids quitting over the school year and people just getting bored of the content in general. To combat this, mergers are neccessary
  16. That Internode problem seems to only be temporary. I'm actually on Dalborra but even this server could do with more players. It's not that people "would not want to play with us" - the issue would be there would be no unified decision so some may think everyone is moving to US servers while others may think everyone is moving to Dalborra. Others might just be too lazy or couldn't be bothered moving at all. Would just end up diluting the population. I'm not discrediting your opinion i'm merely pointing out that getting transfers rather than a merge just for the sake of those playing in Asia is not a very "holistic" option. Merging the servers then ALSO offering transfers a short time later (so that people can decide whether they would still like to move) would make a greater propitiation of the player base happy That's a fair point about the time zones. Those that play there would be able to make a decision about whether or not the timezone difference is worth the latency and then transfer off the merged server when able to. WRT pvp - that's based on individual opinions - some would rather sacrifice pvp for a good latency and healthy population. I'm not saying I don't think transfers are a good idea - they will certainly help more people get the outcome they want. I just think the servers should first be merged, just so everyone can see what its like. Then offer the transfers a month later for those that still aren't enjoying themselves I'm going to try not retaliate to other posts (hard habit to break ) as you're right - this thread is meant for the offering suggestions rather than arguing with each others. Would just like people to try come up with suggestions that try to make as many people happy as possible rather than just themselves
  17. Great but i think you would be in the minority (people from south asia with crap pings, that still play on apac servers that want out). Just opening up transfers might suit you fine but would scatter the rest of the community. There will be a paid transfer option in the future regardless of what happens - use that if u want out. Why you chose to play on an APAC server with a worse ping in the first place is a mystery...
  18. Thanks - just remember to keep us updated even it its just to say the situation is still under review. Oh and just in case my suggestion was missed from ages ago:
  19. Maybe after a month or so or maybe if they are paid transfers and only pve/rp players. Only because i know there are fools out there that will just jump ship as soon as transfers are offered without even giving the new merged server a chance. If enough people jump then this may have a detrimental effect on the population of the new server, effectively crippling it right after it's formed
  20. It would be interesting to see statistically how many people feel the same way compared to those who are in favor of a merge. If gav dag were to be left out, transfers would have to be offered to join the newly merged APAC server or one of the US RP servers to be fair to those not happy with the population. I believe that would significantly impact the already dwindling population so much so that it would not be worth keeping the server open, or if it were, it would not be enjoyable for those left on it. So if the only options were to either merge with the APAC server or merge with a US RP server, what would be your preference gav dag players? As has been said many times - not everyone is going to be happy with the outcome but i believe it's evident from this thread that the vast majority want this merge to happen and would enjoy playing in a high population environment despite the sacrifices (loss of open world pvp and rp rules, name changes... can't think of any others). The rest just have to make the best of it and choose the least crappy option
