  1. Oh, wow... That is some tangent indeed. And back to back posts too, that's an achievement!
  2. I wanted the achievement so I took it on, on my scoundrel healer, with Temple at 50. First time was a disaster, I just ran into it and then couldn't get rid of aggro and died pretty quickly. Next time I was more careful, ordered Temple to attack and hid behind the cat, didn't draw aggro once. That way, the fight was doable, if incredibly dull and tedious, about 10 minutes long. But well, got the achievement and the coins, even though I couldn't progress the FP after that.
  3. My then boyfriend was a big gamer, mostly WOW, and always tried to get me to play some too. I wasn't a gamer at all and couldn't get into WOW, but when he talked about this new Star Wars game I was intrigued. He took out subscriptions for both of us (this was before f2p) and we played Smugglers until Alderaan. I kinda liked it but not enough to keep playing. Fast forward nearly five years, boyfriend has long been kicked to the curb. The topic of games came up randomly with my partner and I thought about this fun little Star Wars game I played way back when. Played preferred for a while, really liked the stories and subscribed to get the extensions. Been here ever since (which is just a few months but well ).
  4. The recent Ranos thread made me think about all the lines I've misheard or misunderstood in this game and I wanted to make a new thread for it because it deserves its own thread. For me, the funniest example of a misheard line is when I thought Elara Dorn says "Help! A Wookie threw it." instead of "Help! I'll walk you through it." I mean, this is Star Wars, so it worked for me. And as far as misunderstanding something goes, one of the Knights of Zakuul says "Izax take you!" and not knowing the Zakuul Pantheon at the time, I always thought it was "I, Zax, take you!", as in, Zax is their name and their threatening to take you. Which very much made sense to me. So what about you? Any fun misheard or misunderstood lines you want to share? Other than the dessert monster (which makes me want to play a Sith Warrior just for that line ).
  5. Just learned about the certificates, found a slot machine in someone's stronghold and low and behold I got a certificate. YAY! Only took 400 coins! But sarcasm aside, I agree, it would be nice for new players like me to get cartel certificates a tiny bit easier or to make the vendors accessible in different ways. But, whatever, I'll be over here, spinning and spinning...
  6. I opened about 70 crates yesterday and today and got a lot of cxp packs (about 10 I think), 1 cxp boost and a lot of (unusable for me but whatever) enhancements. So I concur with what the other posters in this thread said, just RNG working as intended. BTW, still waiting for that grand chance cube myself...
  7. What I did with all my names except for one is that I used the random name generator and when that name was unavailable, I added a letter or two in places where they made sense. Got very nice names like that, all available.
  8. None, and that was as a preferred player during the merge. I guess my names are not at all popular - understandable since they're all names from the random generator, sometimes with a little twist. But yeah, I unsubscribed to see if a preferred player could even keep names as I'm not really attached to mine and it turns out, it's possible. But then, I only have eight characters on the German server, so possibly this example is not very statistically relevant.
  9. Put a ticket in. Not saying they're going to do this for everyone (the green part is a pretty hefty argument against as is the fact that it would be a ton of work for CS to do this for everyone who didn't get the name they wanted) but one of my guildies got the name they wanted for free after they submitted a ticket.
  10. Someone in general chat just asked if BW added a new legacy level and indeed, the counter that had been stagnant since I've reached 50 a while ago is counting again. What is going on? Did I miss something?
  11. I didn't want to post this in the Darth Hexid thread, since it is not directly related to that thread but rather a side note question for the devs (or anyone who is more knowledgeable in reading disclaimers than I am). In the blog it says to simply log in to earn the pet and to do the achievements (which are possible to do for pref players, not sure about F2P) to earn Darth Hexid. But then in the disclaimer under that article it says in the last sentence: "PAID SUBSCRIPTION OR PAID GAME TIME CARD REQUIRED TO ACCESS SOME GAME CONTENT". While this sentence seems to be completely unrelated to either getting the pet or the companion, Keith himself said to read the disclaimer, which seems to hint on some hidden information there. Am I reading too much into this? Are those rewards supposed to be subscriber rewards? Which would obviously not be a problem at all, it would just be nice to know, since it isn't said anywhere in the description of how to attain them, there is just this ominous line in the disclaimer. I'm just wondering, since there will be no possibility to check whether or not a pref or F2P player actually can get the pet / companion before the time of getting either is already over, since both will arrive via in game mail after the 28th, so after the possibility of getting them is gone. Would be nice to get something by simply playing the game / getting the achievements but on the other hand it would also be a nice incentive to sub if it is supposed to be one. Either way, it would be good to know which one it is beforehand.
  12. If I understood OPs question right, they meant less what we do now to gain cxp and more if the bug enabled us to play more and different content. Which for me it definitely did. I have never tried any group activity, whether vet or mm FPs or OPs before because I thought I would be laughed out with my ****** gear (none of my characters were any higher than 50 most far below that). But with the dailies bug I suddenly could get to 300 on one toon easily and now I have gear rating 245 on that toon, so I tried group finder for vet FP first. That was a disaster because of the legacy showing story mode achievements under veteran (had a fun conversation with CS about that) and one of the people in the group accusing me of lying when I said it was my first time in Battle of Ilum vet, which made me completely freeze (I can't stand being accused of lying), causing a wipe, after which everyone quit. But I refused to give up, blocked the person who had said I was lying and jumped right back into group finder. That run was super smooth, fast with zero problems and I count it as my first. Ran a lot of vet FPs since then and even two MMs, though I didn't complete one (on a different, not well geared toon). I also joined a guild and ran both EV and TFB twice now. Most importantly, I realized that I actually really like group content. I like running FPs and I like OPs, I really like conquest. I would never have found that out if I had not had the possibility of gearing up and building confidence on my own. So yeah, the bugged dailies were great and in a way opened up a whole new game for me.
  13. I know you already have the million and mostly play impside, but since there wasn't really a pub list, here are the ones that are fastest imo - the starred ones only work on stealthers - this list is just as a reference for anyone who wanders in here: Dailies: Ziost, Black Hole, Cz-198 Also Yavin 4 but only as slicer (can make a million in an hour if there's no one around) Heroics : Alderaan Proof of Treason Special Delivery Survivors Balmorra Shifting Priorities The Mandalorian Terror* Industrial Sabotage* Acquired Taste* Local Predators* (these last two can be done together on a non stealther but are much faster on a stealther) Belsavis The Stasis Generator* (a bit tricky) The Tyrant* Open Communications* Jungle Flight* (also okayish on non stealther) A Lesson is Learned* (freeing prisoners does not break stealth - to avoid fighting, I start with the weaponry with one mob that can be tranqued then run away after doing the ones by the entrance) Corellia Concierge* Starfighters of Corellia* Coruscant All, but Trouble in Deed is much faster on a stealther and The Face Merchants is a little tedious but still fast Hoth Prisoner Extraction* Signal Jam Tech Diagrams¹ Frostclaw* Nar Shaddaa None is very fast but these are doable Blood Money Braking Down Shadow Town* Hired Guns Lab Animals Ord Mantell All Taris Fallen Stars Total Elimination* (can be tricky) Rakghoul Release* (also tricky) Knight Fall and Mutations absolutely only on a stealther and when no one is around Tatooine Pirate Bullies* Breaking the Code* Tython The Chamber of Speech* (works on non stealther but is longer) Voss All are relatively long but these are doable Cyber Mercenaries Savage Connections Trial of the First* If you care more about 50000 credits more than a longer quest, there's one more that can be done for a weekly (also gives reputation). 1) There is a trick to save time involved here, in which you can port to the Signal Jam area, get a tech pad from a mob, then port to Humanitarian Aid - this quest itself is a bit long, even on a stealther, but you can do it if you want, just go back to the entrance - from there calibrating the pad is very close, so do that and port to Tech Diagrams, do the ending, done
  14. Oh, wow, thanks, I didn't know that. Was levelling scavenging from zero on Iokath yesterday and was super amused that at first it was always one each of the materials in the node, then two, three, four, until finally I was at max level and it was always seven or eight. Thought it was a bug or a weird quirk, but wow, that also explains the oner-rounds I've been having all the time when levelling toons farming high class planets. LOL Honestly, thanks, you just solved a mystery for me that has been bugging me for weeks.
  15. Never noticed that but sounds definitely like a deliberate reference, with the quest name and everything. On the topic of references, I didn't find anything about this on the internet, but I'm quite sure that there is a Lost reference on Rishi. The very North shore of the slave island (sic!) is called the Lost Beach and very prominently on this beach is a crashed plane, clearly broken in half. Which screams Lost, obviously, and I feel like there are too many details for it not to be deliberate.
  16. As far as I understood it, for now the solution is not to pick decorations up, either before or after the merge. That seems to be the only way to keep all the decorations from different legacies. As per what it says on the blog post: Meaning, the person with five GTN kiosks on five servers better be completely fine with where those kiosks are placed right now because their owned amount is now one and they only still have the other four because they had been placed during the merge. Picking one up will make it disappear, simple as that, because as far as the new legacy is concerned, it never existed. Going back to bioware's example, the person with those legacies has 19 chairs placed, but after the merger they only own 15, so picking one of the 19 up will mean it can never be placed again, because the now owned 15 are still already placed. Meaning that chair seizes to exist. Please correct me if I'm wrong here, but that is how I understood it.
  17. 20 days on my smuggler, 17 on my Jedi Knight. About 8 days each on the four remaining characters. Playing since March this year.
  18. My first playthrough I didn't do any of the alliance alerts or star fortresses etc and it was fine, but when I finished the main story I decided to go back to them and that was a bit awkward because it quite obviously is set during the story so a lot of things they're talking about weren't applicable anymore (trying to avoid spoilers). So if you are planning to do this content (which is completely optional) at all, it is better to do it during kotfe, not afterwards if you care about story flow. If not, you can just do them whenever.
  19. The answer is a bit hidden in that news text the commenter before me linked. I only skimmed the bit about multiple legacies because I only have one, so I didn't see it at first, but there it mentions ending up with decorations placed, so I'm guessing so far the plan is to transfer all strongholds fully decorated. I have six 100% decorated strongholds which took ages so I really hope they'll be able to make good on what they are saying.
  20. I have a question regarding strongholds. I currently have six fully decorated strongholds. I only have one legacy on one server. As I was not playing when the last server merges took place, I would like to clarify how this will be handled. My understanding is that I will retain all my strongholds (even if they were bought with credits, not cartel coins) and that I will keep all my decorations. Is this correct? And would I be also correct in assuming that my strongholds will lose their decorations, meaning I will have to decorate them again? Not complaining, just clarifying. Thanks to anyone who answers.
  21. I did the Alderaan one today ( my second time soloing a heroic one). Was quite proud that I did not land in prison even once, but then I was on my stealther so the first part was relatively easy. Died a few times to the groups before the exarch (less than the first time though) and then died because of how bad I played about five times in the exarch fight. I just couldn't stop flying off of that damn platform. But I honestly agree with not nerfing it. I never tried getting a group for it but I guess it would be possible, even though the incentives are ridiculously small once you did all six of them one time and got that sun reactor deco (the reason I'm doing them in the first place). I'm really not sure why the normal ones drop decos but the heroic ones don't, that seems very counterintuitive. Anyways, it is challenging to solo (even as a healer with a level 50 healer companion and all the specialists' buffs and gadgets) and while I'm the first to say that I'm mostly here for the more relaxed content, I do enjoy a challenge every now and then and this fits the bill nicely.
  22. Makeb - I really like the story mostly because of one thing that is one of my favorite story related things in the game (in spoiler tags just in case): I also liked the nature catastrophe scenario a lot. Nice change of pace. And the NPCs were all quite interesting. SOR - I liked the idea of doing flashpoints to start the story with little scenes in between. Gave the whole thing a nice pace from the beginning. Also Lana. Rishi was awesome, one of my favorite planets (love the bird people) with really unique daily quests. Yavin 4 was also nice, I especially liked those little snippets of NPC conversation that all dealt with imps and reps working together. And the way the ending was done (story wise) was very surprising but also quite intriguing. Which brings us to Ziost, which grew on me a lot after I was mostly confused by it the first time around. I really liked the urgency of it all once I got over everything happening at the same time. It also has my favourite daily area. Kotfe and Kotet are basically the same for me as I never did a break in between the two. I really liked the story a whole lot, the way it was told as one continuous story, feeling more like a TV show or movie. Very immersive. I really loved the (non-romantic) relationship between Lana and my Knight, even wrote fanfic about it. Also Senya singing. *goosebumps* And those little phone calls that already got mentioned were very funny for me as well. Umbara - The train idea was cool (got the stronghold, like it very much) and I legitimately squeed in the last scene because that ending was so unexpected yet so intriguing. All in all, I do not for one minute regret resubscribing after five years of absence to be able to play all these expansions. It was absolutely worth it.
  23. Hee, C2N2 did that to me once, for the entire balloon ride, it was quite funny if not a little disturbing. Also props for the Farscape reference! Just met a character in game today named Zotoh Zhaan, immediately whispered them. Always nice to see fellow fans.
  24. When I first started the game way back when I didn't see any reason to play as human at all, seeing all the awesome colorful alien options. Since I deleted those characters when I came back to the game I don't know exactly what they were anymore but I think a Zabrak, a Mirialan and definitely a Chiss that still exists on a different server (never played her). When I came back, I still really liked the alien options, so I have two Zabrak of either color, a Mirialan and a T'wilek. But for my first playthrough character after coming back, I actually chose a human, for the simple reason that it is amazing to see a very dark black woman with cornrows be the leader of the galaxy. Still love playing her for that reason, though my "main" for lack of another word is now my Mirialan scoundrel, because stealth. Oh, and I do have another human, because I made her when I still thought I would go back to preferred soon and lose any races that are not Zabrak or human. That clearly didn't happen, but I do like her too, she has cool hair. And I still want to maybe make a Togruta or / and a Cathar at some point, but I haven't decided on that yet.
  25. Came for the story, stayed for the versatility. I am someone who switches a lot between favourite things to do and this game enables that beautifully. Meaning, sometimes I want to explore for days and I can do that, then I suddenly get the urge to decorate my houses, so I'll do that, then I want to play heroics for a few days, then I'm content to just dig in the ground for hours, then I go for the challenge of joining a group in a flashpoint (still haven't done operations though, not sure I ever will), then I stop and think about fun outfits for my characters and companions for a few hours, then I go do some dailies etc etc. There is just so much to do in this game, that so far, every time I got bored with one type of playing, I just switch to another and then another. That way, the fun stays fresh and exciting!
