  1. We are looking for a motivated DPS (preferably a mDPS) for our Progression Group. Whisper me in game or visit http://www.heresy-guild.com/recruitment for more information!
  2. By definition "baseline ability" is: a. A line serving as a basis, as for measurement, calculation, or location. b. A measurement, calculation, or location used as a basis for comparison. A baseline is something the play is built around. If anything, for Operative Healers, Kolto Probe is the baseline. It's their signature ability and it is what makes them great raid healers, compared to say Mercs that are great single target / tank healers. The operative doesn't have a set rotation for healing, but a system based on priority: 1. Kolto Probe on at least 4 people. 2. Surgical Probe when someone is below 30% health. 3. Recuperative Nanotech on cooldown at a higher priority than Kolto Infusion (basicallt every time it's available). 4. When at 2 or 3 TA and above 80 energy, Kolto Infusion if it isn't on cooldown. 5. When at 2 or 3 TA and less than 80 energy, use Surgical Probe. 6. When at 1 TA, use Diagnostic Scan if Stim Boost is on cooldown (you might use Kolto Injection if you are at 90+ energy). Kolto Injection is not a go-to-ability / baseline for Operative Healers - it's an ability that you use in combination with Stim Boost + Kolto Infusion in a clutch or when you have energy to burn. Again, take a look at the top logs on TorParse and tell me how many times the top Operative Healers use it during a fight. I checked my own logs from yesterday, and I use it for a total of 6 (!) times during the Council HM fight.
  3. Well, you were the one that started to **** on my well meant parade. Some bosses? All bosses in DF / DP HM and TfB / NiM have mechanics that result in raid wide damage going out, and most of them force you to spread out so you can't stack on the Love Puddle. Can you give an example of what boss(es) that don't have it? Example from DF: - 1st boss: Dot - 2nd boss: Adds, adds that explode, grenade from boss - 3rd boss: Smash, adds (to a certain degree), lava (to a certain degree) - 4th boss: Rockets from boss, adds, mine - 5th boss: fingers, droids, nanites from kephess, orbs I'm not saying that Med Shield is a good skill. Both Med Shield and Surprise Surgery are useless, but Med Shield is a little less useless than Surprise Surgery as it heals you for a minor amount when you are taking damage and it collapses (as you will since you used Shield Probe). I'll take lower CD on Evasion any day. The point I'm making is that as a decent Operative Healer you should never be in a position where you run out of TA / energy during a fight, forcing you to use a gimmick to cover up for L2P issues. The exception are special phases in boss phases where you need to burn everything (but then - as the decent Operative Healer you are - you'll have Adrenaline Probe ready). My bad on the GCD part, what I meant was that it's a waste to use that ability when you can use a healing ability instead. Naah, I don't think that anyone who disagrees with me is a scrub - just those that give scrub advice.
  4. Not meaning to rain on someones well meant parade but I kind of need to **** on CaptainApop's **** advice. If you ever get in the situation that you need to use Surprise Surgery to gain TAs, you've ****ed up. Bad. Really bad. So bad that you actually need to L2P. An Operative Healer in stealth before a boss pull is a sure sign of a bad healer. A good healer will never run out of TA because 2 x Kolto Probe will be on at least 4 people at all times. Furthermore the cheese mechanic where you stealth / de-stealth thus gaining 2 TA should not be used in NiM operations as you will waste GCDs. With regards to not putting Kolto Probe on the raid but on the tank (+ one more); have you done NiM operations or DF / DP HM? There is constant / periodic raid wide damage on boss fights, not having probes on raid members is essentially gimping yourself - both with regards to TA and energy management since you will need to burn ****loads of energy frantically trying to heal them up when the raid wide damage goes out. And this is where Evasive Imperative will come in handy as well. And if you really consider Kolto Injection to be an operative's "bread and butter baseline move", you really really need to uninstall the game. Sure it's awesome to see a 10k+ heal crit flash up on the screen, but it's the worst healing per energy ability. You do the math if you don't believe me. Surgical Probe - Stim Boost - Kolto Injection - Kolto Infusion is a good combo that will heal for an absurd amount in a short period, but it's reserved for "oh **** moments". Kolto Injection heals for a decent amount up front, but Kolto Infusion heals for a larger amount overall. Using Kolto Injection as a "bread and butter" ability will consume your energy faster than you can say L2P n00b, and no decent Operative Healer will ever consider to use it as such. Take a look on TorParse and check out the logs of top Operative Healers (check out SV NiM last boss for example), and tell me how many times they used Kolto Injection during a boss fight (let me give you a tip; not a lot). Anyways, as I wrote at the top; I don't mean to to rain on someones well meant parade of **** advice. What CaptainApop wrote will work excellent in SM Operations as you really need to be special in order to fail there.
  5. ENDGAME PVE OPERATIONS This build (38/3/5) is for operations and thus your role is to stay alive and heal people, so it's not the "standard" PVE build that people like to run with (so you are not specced into Corrosive Microbes and Lethal Injectors). The operative is a raid healer with its arsenal of HoTs. Surprise Surgery is useless as you should always have 2x Kolto Probe on at least 4 people (the optimal is to have 2x Kolto Probe on 8 people), thus always having Tactical Advantage stacks avaliable. Med Shield should at least heal you for a little bit if you use your shield (which I do quite a lot). The OP healer doesn't have a set rotation. It's a priority list that revolves around Kolto Probe. Basically try to have 2x Kolto Probe on at least 4 people. The rotation will be something like 1x Kolto Probe on 8 people --> Healing Ability --> 1x Kolto Probe on 8 people. Always use Recuperative Nanotech on cooldown. With the 2 set PVE bonus, this is an awesome ability. This is not an AOE heal, but if the opportunity arises you should try to hit 4 people with it. I usually place myself so I'm within 10 meters of the tanks and the DPS and then use Recuperative Nanotech on myself. Use Surgical Probe generously. Use it, love it! Also whenever you have 3 TA. When the targets health is below 30 % it's a free heal, so just spam it. Also use Kolto Infusion on cooldown, as it will provide the biggest HoT. Diagnostic Scan is used whenever you dip below 60 energy and don't have Adrenaline Probe ready. Kolto Injection is your worst healing ability! It's easily interrupted (movement due to aoe, stuns etc) and is too energy expensive. Basically it's the worst healing per energy ability. The usage is very situational, IE you need to heal a tank asap you can go Stim Boost -> Kolto Injection -> Kolto Infusion -> Surgical probe. If you want to use a rotation a simple one is: 1. Kolto Probe on first 4 people. 2. Kolto Infusion. 3. Kolto Probe on 4 other people. 4.Recuperative Nanotech. 5.Surgical Probe, Diagnostic Scan, or Kolto Infusion depending on energy and TA. 6. Repeat PVP PVP is a whole another ball game. If you are an operative healer, you'll most likely be marked by the opposing team and everyone and their frigging grandmothers will be out to get you. There is not set rotation for PVP at all, but the principles for PVE outlined above is a good start (keep kolto probe up, recuperative nanotech on cooldown etc). Stay on the outer edges of the fight, CLEANSE PEOPLE (this will really piss of lethality / hybrid spec snipers), use shield probe whenever it's off cooldown and stealth out (use Evasion first to cleanse yourself of dots) if it gets too hot.
  6. I've noticed the same, but i think it was on the UW version. I was healing a sin tank on corruptor zero hm, and even though i was putting out a total of 1.5 mill healing with 3.2k ehps he was going splat. He once went from 45-50 % to 0 % during the duration of a GCD and the activation of kolto infusion (with stim boost). I dont if thats sin tanks in general, but he mentioned that his shield didn't proc.
  7. After a break from NiM we decided to do SV NiM and got 3 / 7 in one night. We are still looking for more DPS / Healers / Tanks to get a second raid team going!
  8. Full Dread Forged, or full Welfare 78s?
  9. Nice write up of PT tanking. I notice that you don't prioritize Flame Burst that much which differs from what I do. I think it's the best filler ability, and I use it generously (on average around 25% of my damage comes from Flame Burst). The priority I have: Heat Blast (use on CD) Rocket Punch (use on CD) Rail Shot (use on CD) Flamethrower (top priority when Flame Engine procs, otherwise use on CD) Flame Burst Shoulder Cannon Rapid Shots Death From Above (can be used on boss, but the targeting can be a pain) Flame Sweep (AOE-aggro) Unload (don't use unless OT at range) Explosive Dart (don't use unless you need AOE-aggro) I am running a 37 / 7 / 3 build with 3 points in Integrated Cardio Package and 2 in Hot Iron. Usually I'm doing around 1.2-1.3k DPS on boss fights. I would probably do more if I put 1 point in Advanced Tools and 2 in Iron First instead of 3 in Intergrated Cardio Package), but I like the 3% to Endurance.
  10. Whats your spec / gear like? I seems you take about 100 DPS more than me and your biggest damage taken is 3k more than mine.
  11. HP gives you an indication of what kind of gear level a character is in - and to a certain degree - insight to the player. IE a 40k+ HP DPS / Healer is probably in bad 78 commendation gear (worse I've seen is a mercenary with 46k HP), a Tank with 44k+ HP is probably in bad tanking gear with crap mitigation stats, a >30k HP character is in 66 (or worse) gear. On the few occasions we PUG a couple of players for HM Operations, we initially check their HP (and then their gear / achievements) before we consider kicking them from the group.
  12. I don't have a assassin tank, but please don't use a build that is tailored to adds in Operations. If you struggle with adds and need to have a build to "make it easier", you'll probably struggle really hard with the boss.
  13. This is not a Group Finder experience, but I thought I'd share. Yesterday someone was looking for people to join a Dread Palace HM 8 man run. For those that have done the HM version - you know that you need a certain level of coordination and understanding of mechanics in order to clear it. It was the first time I've seen anyone PUG that operation, and since I was bored and had some time to spare I thought I'd join. So I whisper the Raid Leader and conversation went something like this: - ME: Hey, tank here. I can join. - HIM: Whats your gear rating? - ME: Full DF. - HIM: Have you done this before? We want people to have done it. - ME: Yes, I have done it multiple times before. Have it on farm. - HIM: Ok, good *invite*. All well until this point, since I thought by his questions that they'd done it and that they were picky about who they invite. Anyway, I join the group and that's when the fun starts. Just the highlights from the group composition: - A 28k HP healer sorc - A 44k HP mercenary DPS - A 35k HP Jugg tank Ok, I know that HP isn't everything, but it gives you a certain insight in what kind of gear they have and besides it's better to be a tad overgeared in a HM PUG. IE a 28k HP sorc is probably in 66 / 69 gear, a 44k HP merc DPS is in **** 78 gear and a 35k HP jugg tank is in a mix of 69 / 72 (for reference my PT tank in DF gear sits at around 41-42k HP). I thought whatever, if they have done this before (which was my impression) then it could still work out. So I get to Oricon and enter Dread Palace where the rest of the group is. Since their HP was so low I ask in ops chat: ME: Since this is a HM run - I assume that everyone has done this before. Any first timers? GROUP: *crickets* No one replies, so I decide to check their achievements. First guy I check has 10 % completion on Dread Palace, the second guy I check has 20 % The best was one guy that had 30 % completion on all operations. . So I ask again: ME: I see that there are several that haven't done DP in SM before. Who hasn't? GROUP: *crickets* Raid Leader: I haven't done DP HM. Can you explain tactics? That was my cue to get the hell out. I'm all for carrying people through new content when the mood strikes me, but when someone gets a group together for DP HM and asks about gear rating / experience - I expect that they know what they are doing and have cleared the content. I've experienced this with other HM operations as well when I PUG - you ask people if they have done it before and they say yes and then you check their achievements and they haven't done it. Anyways, maybe it wasn't funny, but I just thought that was a weird experience.
  14. Holy necro! But I got to say that I have fond memories of LI before the 2 (3?) nerfs. Going in there with Tioneese in order to get the Rakata Chest / Columni mainhand - it was probably one of the better moments I've had in this game. It was one of the best FPs before they nerfed it to the ground!
  15. We are on the lookout for a motivated DPS for our Progression Group!
  16. From my experience PTs have to smoothest damage profile while Juggernauts have most defensive cooldowns that can save you in a pinch. If I had to pick, I'd go with a PT.
  17. This is my first time uploading logs, so I'm not sure if I've done it correct but I get: Ixarus - Powertech - 36 / 7 / 3 - 8 man HM - Nefra / DF Log: http://www.torparse.com/a/561352/5/0/Damage+Taken DTpH: 1543 DTpS: 1401 Biggest hit: 10 512
  18. Spec into "Rule of Two" for the speed boost. Tank boss in the middle. Haul *** to the generator the moment they light up. Use Intercede if you can.
  19. Is that the Wookie-boss? If so, there are two ways: 1) DPS and Healer stands on top of the shuttle so the adds can't reach them. Kill boss, then kill adds. 2) Tell the DPS to not AOE boss / adds. Make sure that you have an AOE ability ready for when the adds spawn (smash / crushing blow). If the DPS don't AOE, that should be enough to keep aggro. When the boss dies, explosion will kill the adds.

  21. Has anyone tested the "middle road" - ie high endurance mods + high mitigation enhancemets?
  22. DF HM / DP HM are easier than TfB NiM / SV NiM and give better gear. There is no point in doing TfB NiM / SV NiM before DF HM / DP HM. DF / DP HM is scaled to 72 gear (you can do it in a mix of 69s / 72s if you have the mechanics down).
  23. The difficulty rating goes TfB HM -> SV HM -> DF HM -> DP HM -> TfB NiM -> SV NiM You are in a mix of 69s / 72s / 78s, as long as you know the mechanics you should be fine to tank TfB / SV HM. Maybe do couple of the first bosses in SV as they are easy mechanics wise before attempting TfB.
  24. The OP asked about "...strong opening rotation to maximize snap threat.". Besides, there is no need to use Force Scream in the first few GCDs since the raid is topped off, the healers have max force / energy and are alert / focusing on the tank. If you want maximize threat - you can postpone it. EDIT: You are also assuming that he runs with DPS that likes to Orbital Strike and pop adrenals / relics right off the bat (which there is really no need to). Of course you are not going to hold aggro without taunts when snipers time Orbital Strike + relic / adrenal + ambush to hit at the same time as you jump in.
  25. (I usually do HM / NiM content, and this is from my point of view.) I suggest you take the previous advice with a grain of salt. First off: Saber Throw is useless for gaining aggro on Operations Bosses. It puts you 1 GCD behind, and can mean the difference between keeping aggro or loosing it. Don't ever start off with a taunt. Someone mentioned using single-taunt on CD; don't! There aren't many Operation Bosses where you can use single-taunt on CD as you need it for tank swapping (Nefra is the only boss that comes to mind where you can use it on CD). Don't use Saber Reflect at the start for aggro. Saber Reflect is way to useful and only works on some attacks (ranged / force / tech). Save it for when you need it, i.e. TfB Kephess NiM laser beam, TfB NiM Force Scream. My opening rotation: Enrage Force Leap Smash Crushing Blow Retaliation Backhand Ravage (Retaliation if procced) Taunt (AOE-taunt for Sonic Barrier if you have mDPS in the group) Sundering Assualt Force Scream The idea is to use all your high-aggro abilities as soon as possible. Saber Throw and Force Scream doesn't provide much aggro - that is why you don't use Saber Throw at the start and delay using Force Scream. If you have a count down AND the DPS delays their attacks, you can start off with Saber Throw. I.E. a count down from 3: 3 - Enrage 2 - Saber Throw 1 - Force Leap 0 - DPS attacks / you Smash
