  9. Hey everyone Kitar: I sort of wanted to fake people out regarding that, but it's not like anyone would believe I'd kill off the main character so soon (I'm not GRRM, not by a long way). Prompt: Surprises, Vulnerable, Children, Holidays Title: A long deserved Vacation Perspective: Vette, Twi’lek Adventurer Word Count: 3,220 Chronology: early Alderaan, shortly after these pieces (the last one is the third story). I'll also note that 'The Hermit' has since been rewritten in the last 3.5 years but I haven't included it as the new version isn't published yet. 10. Hey Everyone Look, I’m finally posting the conclusion to one of the multi-parters, this one dating from around April/May 2016… Here are the earlier parts in case you wanted to read them first and try to remember what happened. Maybe I’ll get onto writing some of those other multi-part stories and finishing them off... a few years late. Anyway, without further ado. Prompt: You’re My Only Hope, Children Title: Settling Debts Part III Perspective: Vette, Twi’lek Adventurer Word Count: 6,077 Chronology: early Balmorra Spoilers: mentions of Balmorra planetary questline, pervasive spoilers of the Heroic settling debts Warning: some gore present Author Notes
  11. Hey Kitar and everyone, After realising that the last story i posted has already been posted, i've sat down & written two more from new ideas. Prompt: Fashion, Shopapalooza Title: The New Look Perspective: Lucida, Jedi Pureblood Word Count: 2041 Spoilers: JK Coruscant storyline, general information about the third area of Coruscant I've delayed posting this next one for about a week, given the nature of it. Well, I've fiddled with it enough, so here goes. Prompt: Under Your Skin, Recurring Nightmares Title: To Share A Nightmare Perspective: Vette, Twi’lek Adventurer Word Count: 1,791 Chronology: set in transit to Balmorra Warning: this piece contains partial and total nudity, mild sexual peril, and gore

  13. Hey again, another fly-by posting as I finally wrote something new (well, completed something, anyway). Vale Frauzet, hope we'll see you again in the future (though i fully understand if we don't. Life moves on and all) Prompt: Curveball Title: Escape from Organa Part I Perspective: Roan, the littlest Sith Word Count 2,579 Spoilers: SW Alderaan storyline Prompt: Family, Curveball, language Title: Escape from Organa Part II Perspective: Lucida, Sith Jedi Word Count 2,217 Spoilers: JK Alderaan storyline, general information about the second Jedi Knight companion
  14. What's this, a double post? No, just a double parter split because of word limits. Prompt: Oblivious, Nicknames, Senses, Title: The Lanthinide Mine Perspective: Roan, Kid Sith Word Count 4,906 Spoilers: Early Alderaan side mission, personal details regarding Roan.
  15. Hey again, it’s been some time since I last posted. These are excerpts from something I wrote for NanoWriMo last year that I thought were worth posting somewhere aside from my hard drive (and yes, I am going through it to get back into the swing of writing for this year’s one). Prompt: Listen, Oblivious, Cooperation Title: Killik Chaos Perspective: Roan, Kid Sith Word Count 2,296 Spoilers: Early Alderaan side mission, SW companions available as of Alderaan Note: Roan is not the typical Sith Warrior the players follow, but he does that storyline, more or less. As such, some aspects of his character, physicality and personality will differ from expected. One of the more notable examples of this is his age. Given the first person perspectives used in my pieces, it may not be readily apparent, but he is approximately eight years old at time of Alderaan.
  16. Hey everyone, it's been some time since I was last here. Here's a post for this week's thread I wrote this afternoon. Prompt: What’s the worst that could happen?, Sight Title: A Total Blue Milk Run Perspective: Major Kadrhian, Republic Juggernaut Word Count 1300 Spoilers: Trooper Act III, Trooper Companions, Character from Trooper Quesh Warning: Mild use of profanity, minor nudity And as a longstanding feature from that past, the infamous double post. Prompt: Allies, Turning Points, Sacrifice Title: A-77 Perspective: Major Kadrhian, Republic Juggernaut Word Count: 3115 Spoilers: Trooper Act III, Trooper Companions, Character from Trooper Quesh
  17. *quietly wanders past, looking for something that'll fill the void the False Empire will leave when it ends...* "Of all the detective agencies on all the worlds in the galaxy, she had to walk into mine." *Sits down and starts reading* Great opening line. Yes, it's cheesy, cliche and has been used hundreds of times, but so has the PI genre. there's a reason it's a classic. Great characterisation, I can already get a feel for the main character and he hasn't said more than ten words about himself. Interesting setup, starts with the standard, FF walks into an office, and goes from there, though this time what she's after isn't quite as obvious. If this style's what I missed out, I'm off to go read flip of the coin.
  18. Uh, Hi everyone. it feels like ages since I last did this... What do you go by? (Kind of a no brainer but have to start somewhere) Feldraeth Male or Female: Male How many trips around the Sun have you made: 25, despite my best efforts Who is your favorite canon character/NPC/non-companion (Choose up to 5 cause some of us can't choose) Darth Marr; the Sith-puncher Supreme Commander Jace Malcolm; Keeper & Watcher II (putting them together to represent the whole snarky know-it-all Brit trope); Master Somminick Timms (An awesome Jedi troll) and Darth Baras. Which side do you play most? Imperial/Sith for guild reasons Which classes do you play most? Sith Warrior, Bounty Hunter and Sith Inquistor Favorite companions: Vette, Mako, LS Jaesa, Tharan, Lokin, Ashara, the Kitty Commando, Khem Val and Qyzen Least Favorite companions: SKADGE!!one!, Kaliyo, Scourge, Vector (or more accurately, the Ouroboros nest), the Murder Muppet, Favorite Love interest in game: None, maybe Dorne (not that I've played a male trooper, mind you) Least Favorite Love interest in game: None Favorite original character to write: Roan, Kid Sith; Tarmin, the Big Damn Jedi; and Cierra (who's personality is far more cerebral than portrayed in-game) Favorite canon character to write: Vette, she's fun, snarky and her perspective hides so much Least favorite canon character to write: that I've written so far?... probably Torian (really hard getting into his head and I don't like the hypocrisy he shows in his ideology) Favorite genre to write: any sort of battle scene, whether a duel or space battle/adventure (I'm sort of like Luna's shadow, only nowhere near as good) Hardest scenes to write: romance - I just don't get it Who do you want to kill most from KotFE: Surprisingly, no-one. That's a major complaint I have with the story though, all of the threat is impersonal. Yes, Arcann genocides 6+systems, but it's all off-screen. Take us to Bothawui, have us go through the wreckage as we did on Ziost. Until then, it's a statistic. As for companions, the whole notion soured when I watched my agent gun down the kitty commando (it's even worse when I forgot and couldn't figure out where Jorgan had gone, until I remembered.) Still wouldn't hesitate to chuck Skadge out of the airlock though Favorite colour: Purple Favorite star wars race: um, don't really have one. I play every race (some more than once), maybe Twi'leks (not-space-elves as per Dragon Age) If you could only eat 5 foods for the rest of your life, what would you pick? Macaroni Cheese, Chilli con carne, coconut yoghurt with smarties, Marmite toast, pepperoni pizza. You can live anywhere you want in the galaxy, where do you live? Balmorra What are those spikes dotted throughout the landscape? are they biological (think hive or odd plant-life) or erosional features (think devil's tower Wyoming). (Plus, I heard from some that lieutenant over a camp Vanguard that he made a killing in the property market over there... but I might've misheard that) Who would you like to see added as a companion? Don't we have enough already? I'd like more usability for the ones we have over more that I have to level to 50 (maybe send some out to be station chiefs in a base management mini-game or something) that said... Master Somminick Timms or the Sithpuncher (so long as he has his melee ability) And...what do you prefer, hero or villain? whichever's more interesting Edit: Extra Questions How much time have you spent playing SWTOR?(Wangxiuming) Steadily played since 22/01/2012 (would've played sooner but I had exams that ended that morning. as for time well... lets go with an average of three hours a day, for 1713 days is 5139 hours total... huh, not as bad as I thought (estimate must be off somewhere) SWTOR pet peeves:(Wangxiuming) The recycling of dialogue, especially for non-humans; the lack of new Ops, FPs and PVP; the storytelling plotholes in KotFE: oh where to start. I admit I play the game less now than I did say a year ago, before KotFE came out. What does everyone like to do when they are not playing or writing about SwtoR?(Kitar) Work, go wandering, read, go on wondering, run D&D or oWoD campaigns. if you could choose another world to live in which one would it be? (StarHunterChaser) Star Wars or Mass Effect.
  19. ^^ Maybe I should use that as a sig . Hey Diviciacus, just chiming in to say great story thus far and hope to see more. I liked your impression of Vemrin, in all his awful teenage angsty glory (and arrogant overconfidence - throwing a weapon at a stranger on Korriban could be incredibly unwise) She's been here less than a day and there's already plotting and intrigue... which Baras is behind. Of course he is Courier Miaslaznia (can't go with any short names) - why am I reminded of Brooks from Mass Effect 3: Citadel. She doesn't turn out to be the agent by any chance? (SFC prompt archive reveals you have Ethli'vaendis'kiona, but that you rarely play her). I was also amused by the ending with Defixiones and her past misadventure with clingy Klemral. Overall though, I like Authenta's character and could practically hear Natasha Little's voice when Authenta speaks. She's proud and arrogant but cares about the 'little people'. Her takeaway from the station wasn't how the Sith nearly killed her or tried to compel her into his bed, it was that he murdered the two in the bar. That isn't to say she's soft hearted or weak, but it's a refreshing pace from all the DS V warriors I've seen in the last few weeks (thanks a lot DvL). Finally, I loved her racial dark side resilience as it makes perfect sense especially for a warrior whose force powers are largely based around buffing themselves .
  20. Machinations! I like the way no names are dropped, and how they were just implied. While Karannai is likely breather, there's no reason why Erilinn has to be the mystery sender (it could be anyone who knows they met, could gain access to the speeder surveillance systems and knows or suspects Kiarn saved Karannai). it could be Baras, her former master (name eludes me but I believe it began with an E) or even Quilian (didn't particularly strike me as stupid and is Karannai's twin, so likely can sense she's still alive and would want to know why Kiarn saved her). All in all, it's going to be an interesting meeting, even if it is just Erilinn. Also, props on the paranoia. Intrigue! Why do I get the impression that Khem's like one of those large dogs that follow toddlers around with a sense of bemusement at their antics... except for the fact he'd happily murder Kiarn if he could. At least now she's 'playing the game' as it were . and a party to boot!! What to wear (2 choices, something respectable in black, or something else. I suspect Zash might push for the latter given her own predilections for rocking the traditionalist boat [pea-green summer-dress with rain shield maybe, because who would associate a Sith with a summer dress]), what to do while there, a chance for networking with people she despises, will she be found out and would anyone truly care (A Sith Apprentice who hasn't properly immersed themselves in the dark side has idealistic plans on how they want to change the empire... oh noes ) ? All questions for next time, can barely wait.
  21. The characters can make sense, so long as you are sensible about it. While some options are obvious and painful (eg the moral choice on Athiss for the Republic) most of them are reasonably well thought out and balance more than arbitrary LS/DS distinctions. (eg the choice on the Esseles is idealism and hope versus pragmatism and cynicism). I have observed the following through playthroughs. LS Warrior - plays more as an honourable blood knight than a thug, with a hint of aristocratic bearing. Think classic Dracula more than Vader LS Inquisitor - here the LS comes off as calculating and pragmatic, even if you do miss out on some of the force lightning prompts. LS Agent - Plays more like Bond than Bauer, able to make the hard choices when necessary but will look for a better way when possible. LS Hunter - Plays more like an honourable mercenary than a thug with a gun (though the VAs sound better with DS IMO). As for the Rep sides, I don't remember the DS Knight or Consular very well (though there are videos of them on youtube [xletalis has both as far as I can remember]). DS Knight - I remember this one being painful to play through, acting like a petty edgelord teenager more than the pragmatic warrior I wanted, always lusting after more and more power at the expense of others (and in the end may get punished for it). DS Consular - far more believable, the character was cruel and willing to take shortcuts and sacrifice innocents for the greater good. Think fanatic more than Jedi DS Trooper - the character comes across more as a bully or a thug than a noble warrior (ironically similar to the DS Warrior) DS Smuggler - the character comes across more as a gangster than a scoundrel
  22. This list goes from most to least mobile in terms of ranged DPS and includes the near-melee PT/Vanguards and Ops/Scoundrels. A Merc/ Gunnery Mando - with the 'Thrill of the Hunt' / 'Forced March' utility and Priming Shot/ Vortex Bolt, you only need to stand and cast one or two Tracer Missiles/ Grav Rounds per rotation (you can even throw in fusion missile/plasma grenade with Power Surge/ Tech Override). Innovative Ordnance Mercenary / Assault Specialist Commando - whilst there are a few casted filler abilites (and the doT spreading fusion missile/ plasma grenade, Speed To Burn / Blazing Celerity makes one of the filler abilities inst-cast and Power Surge / Tech Overrides If feasible, switch Thrill of the Hunt/ forced March for Power Overrides / Overclock for a second charge of Power Surge / Tech Overrides (Unload is less useful in this spec and is more of a filler) Lightning Sorcerer / Telekinetics Sage - It has great movement options for when focussed (Force Speed and Phase Walk) but half of its filler rotation (3-4 GCDs every other Chain Lightning / TK Wave) is the casted Lightning Bolt / TK Burst. [AP PTs and Tactics Vanguards - All of their abilities are instant and bar retractable Blade / Gut and Rocket Punch / Stockstrike, all are 0-10m, so a highly manoeuvrable mid range fighter] [Lethality Operative / Ruffian Scoundrel - its DoTs are 30m ranged, all of its abilities bar Shiv / Blaster Whip and Point Blank Strike / PB Shot are 10m ranged and it has combat roll, stealth and holotraverse. In short, a skirmisher that can dip into and out of combat Madness Sorcerer / Balance Sage - While the DoTs are all instant, the main part of the filler (Force Lightning / TK throw) is a channel. However it does have force speed and a teleport and its mechanics do not favour staying in one position [Concealment Operative / Scrapper Scoundrel - all of its abilities are instant but its filler (Lacerate / Sucker Punch) is melee. Has combat roll, stealth as a combat breaker and Holotraverse as a teleport for enhanced mobility.] Engineering Sniper/ Sabotage Gunslinger - most of the setup abilities can be done while moving but you lose the advantage of +20% ranged defence chance from cover. [Pyrotech PT / Plasmatech Vanguard - all of its abilities are <10m range and it has a 3s channel tied into its rotation] Virulence Sniper/ Dirty Fighting Gunslinger - the AoE DoT and single target DoT can be done while moving, but really shouldn't (loss of cover defence) Marksman Sniper / Sharpshooter Gunslinger - Practically all casts and channels, they're turrets. For Healers, Sorcerer/Sage - all but Dark Infusion are mobile, assuming Force Mobility is taken (for innervate/ healing trance, Revification / Salvation is cast with 3 stacks of Force Surge / Resplendence and Dark Heal/ Force Mend is used with the Dark Concentration / Altruism buff. Has Force speed and Phase Walk for added mobility. Op/Scoundrel - only three abilities are hard casted and one (Kolto Injection / Underworld Medicine) can be made instant through use of Stim Boost / Pugnacity. Has combat roll, the cover mechanic, holotraverse (teleport to ally or enemy) and stealth (though HoTs will break stealth) Mercenary/Commando - all bar three are casted (Kolto Missile/Grenade, Med Shot and emergency Scan / Bacta Infusion and Power Surge / Tech Overrides has a 60 / 45s CD Thrill of the Hunt / Forced March can also make Progressive Scan / Successive Treatment mobile.
  23. I'm not sure what else I can add. Divi and Luna do a pretty awesome job explaining the general concept. Consider how location and context can matter. As Luna and Divi already mentioned, somewhere in Hutt space is going to run the gamut from Hutt pleasure palace to seedy dive. There's going to be a melange of non-human races, all jockeying and jostling for position near the Hutt or the bar. It'll be loud, possibly with music (live or through speakers). conversely, if it's somewhere like Kaas or the capitol of a conquered world perhaps throw in a tense atmosphere, with huddled booths, closed off sightlines (via furniture curtains smoke etc) and the ever-present grip of the Empire expressed through off-duty squaddies chatting at the bar or making nuisances of themselves with the local non-human contingent. Also consider the natives and the local customs. for example, imported alcohol may be more cheaper than usual in spaceport bars due to being import tax free. Inversely, a dive in a quiet country village might not even have major brands, instead relying on brewers who use local plants. Perhaps the local's don't find alcohol as intoxicating as say caffeine, so underground coffee speakeasys litter the urban landscape. The characters are also of importance. For example, a stiff character (let's use Elara Dorne as a completely random example ) might take issue with going into a seedy dive bar or might cause offence asking to see the license before she orders anything. other younger characters might even get carded! As for why they don't start a fight, maybe no-one provokes them (yeah, as if that's going to stop Kaliyo). Maybe they know (or are) the owner and don't want to trash the place. Perhaps the bouncer is a friend or someone they fear/owe and don't want them to lose their job. Mayhap they're distracted by pretty Houk dancers or hunky smiling Nautolans or they just want a fricking drink (think Cait from Fallout 4)! Lastly, consider the bar's usual clientele and staff. A swanky Coruscant lounger might serve senators, generals and socialites, while the same crowd won't be seen dead at a sleazy lower level dump (unless they're 'slumming it') Who does your bar serve and how does the owner optimise for this? FInally, I offer an example I wrote for a scene in the Nexus Room on DK earlier this year. I intended the place to look like Sith (and the suicidally trendy) would be the main clientele. It's cool to borrow as much or as little as you want from it, or ignore it entirely and steam ahead without idea contamination.
  24. Wow, I disappear for a few days and everyone posts... I should go on holiday more often . Comments EDIT: - lets try this again. Now, as some may have guessed from the comments, I'm 6 hours jet-lagged so i'll post part two and call it a night. Prompt: Why you Fight, or Why You Don’t, Culture Shock Title: Settling Debts, part II of III <- (yes I've added a third part this was getting too long and I didn't want to cut parts out) Perspective: Vette, Twi’lek adventurer Word Count: 3,538 Spoilers: Early Imperial Balmorra, the Heroic 4 of the same name
  25. Hey, I'm back @Striges: Excuse the Orwellian edit, your version's more concise and fits better. As for the 4 prompts, I'm slightly leery as we'll start cycling through them at a faster rate (as in 3 recycled is going to outstrip the 1 new coming in [not that anyone can 'cycle' a randomised generator, just that the used count will increase for all of them]). I think that a fourth prompt may be interesting as it can generate more ideas, but I would delay its implementation until maybe next year, else we'll reach the situation in 2020 that we have 8-9 weekly prompts. Prompt: Turning Point, Violence is the only way, Spring Cleaning Title: Settling Debts: Part I of II Perspective: Vette, Twi’lek adventurer Word Count: 3,185 Spoilers: Early Imperial Balmorra, the Heroic 4 of the same name
