  1. This is why I turn on subtitles. I can generally read the entire schpeal before the NPCs finish talking. This is also why I tend to stick with guild mates. This way, if I want to enjoy the storyline, I feel I have every right to tell them to shut up. (But I also live with my guild mates (the three I play most with), so it works out even better.)
  2. Yes, I'm enjoying myself, and only see it improving from here.
  3. As someone who enjoyed KOTOR more I'd say it reminds me more of KOTOR. Which is a good thing. Then again, I didn't start playing this game because it was Star Wars, as my attachment to the franchise was nonexistent before playing it. I started playing it because I wanted a game to play with my friends. If anything, this game has been broadening my affection for the fandom, and I've been watching all the movies recently with far more enthusiasm than I did before. It's exciting to watch the movies and be like "Oh crap, I saw that in this game!" Like... dewbacks! It's been increasing my enjoyment for everything. But then again, maybe you didn't want my opinion, as I've been exceedingly happy with this game.
  4. Despite all the doom-and-gloom here, I'm actually really enjoying myself. This game will make a Star Wars fan out of me yet!
  5. It's very helpful on RP servers if you enjoy cross-faction RPing.
  6. My Sith Inquisitor is a light sider.
  7. I know a lot of people who play the market successfully and have fun doing so. And I fail to see how watching your character create the item versus having your companion do it is more involving or less involving. You are still selecting an item from a list, clicking said item, and boom - there it is. I don't see what's more fun about watching your character clap their hands versus having your companion go do it. They're both equally boring, but at least one you can do while you do more interesting things. You say you want stuff besides combat. What would you like to see (besides these things) besides combat? I'm genuinely curious. Mini games?
  8. "I'm responsible for more bodies than a Coruscant cemetery."
  9. Yes, because people who did neither of those things and were hacked actually weren't and were just being paid by the big gaming companies to say they were so we'd all feel obligated to buy security key fobs. Or, you know, download free apps to our phones. I distinctly remember hearing that a lot of people got hacked after gold sellers exploited people who hadn't updated their Flash, allowing them to download malicious code through the holes when these people visited sites like Wowhead or WoW's wiki sites. The same thing could happen to ToR. Yes, searching for exploits or gold selling is a good way to get yourself hacked, but there are people who were completely innocent who had this kind of thing happen to them.
  10. I'm sure they aren't taking out any of the big momentous titles like that. Still, there's no reason to remove even the smallest titles. Just make some titles hard to get so there's some prestige somewhere, at least.
  11. That's bizarre; mine was like that straight outta installation.
  12. I totally agree. Server forums were my favorite way to meet friends from my server on WoW!
  13. Uh, were you reading the thread? The guy was posting about death penalties, and everyone's agreed that WoW's death penalty is more taxing than SWTORs because it involves a graveyard run. No one's saying they want it to be like WoW's ressing system. Hurr.
  14. I can't believe some people are incapable of playing jedi because of... big butts. Wow, really? Is your skin that thin that you just can't... ignore it?
  15. Sooooo, one guy did something mean to you means the entirety community is terrible. Riiiight. I've had someone be downright malicious to me before - someone who didn't even bother trying to save face with the "I was confused" excuse. Did that sour my opinion on the entire community? No. That's like saying "Because one person with brown hair tripped me yesterday, all people with brown hair must be terrible people." Yeah, okay.
  16. Haha, I didn't mean big manly hands in an insulting way! Girl's hands are naturally smaller than guys, of course - which is where my advantage comes in. In that regard it's a perfect mouse for me, because I feel like only being able to hit the top 1-6 numbers would be giving anyone an advantage considering how easy it is to hit those numbers on your keyboard.
  17. If anything, the 7-12 buttons are the only ones I can comfortably use. 1-6 is really hard for me, which works out, considering those are the keys I have the easiest time hitting on the keyboard. Then again I have small hands, so my thumb about rests on the 7 and 10 key naturally. I guess if you have big manly hands your thumb would be longer and rest on the upper numbers? Edit: It's an amazing mouse and I'd be lost without it now.
  18. DPS meters are super important in that in a raiding situation (or even in a small flashpoint situation) they can help you identify extremely weak links. Now I'm actually really lenient on how bad someone has to be before I kick them - and DPS isn't always a reason. There are plenty of times on other games where I've kicked the top dpser, either for being a jerk or because they absolutely failed to mechanics - whether avoiding boss mechanics or because they were incapable of interrupting or cc'ing when they needed to. It doesn't always have to do with damage; recount can tell you when people mess up these things as well. Really it comes down to the idea that I don't like the thought of carrying people who refuse to put any effort in - including myself. When I first started a new class, I certainly wasn't amazing, and recount was a way to help judge where I was and how hard I needed to work to get to where I should be. Because that carrying thing works both ways - I don't want people having to carry me, either.
  19. I'm an RPer and I really dislike this system; if I play a bunch of different races, I wouldn't like to imagine any of them are related (nor do I think they would even like each other if they were different factions). Luckily someone told me that I could toggle off the name; I will definitely be making use of that function.
  20. In plain text, the difference is this: On a server with a RP tag, you will have far more luck going into a cantina and trying to roleplay with someone than you EVER would on a server without a RP tag. Yeah, you might run into some trolls on an RP server, and you might not. But on a non RP server? Get ready to have people wondering what the heck you're doing when you go up to them all "I say there, sir, I'll buy you a drink if you tell me about your epic star wars!" You could not create an RP guild on a non RP server because there would be no demand. Any RPer who actually wants to find RP is going to be on an RP server of some sort. Same goes for the channel. I hate to bring up WoW, but it's unfortunate that SWOTOR doesn't have modding capabilities. There were all kinds of nice mods on WoW that identified RPers when you moused over them, so you'd know who to approach. Most RPers had these mods, and it's so much easier to approach someone if you know for a fact that they aren't going to be a stupid troll. Edit: In place of mods, it'd be great if we could at least have server-specific forums so we could organize our own RP meetings and create server wide channels with easier ways of advertising them. >: People could start a list of RPers, we could build friends' lists off of these lists... it'd be really helpful.
  21. My experience with RP on other games has always been that general wasn't an RP channel, and that RP mainly took place in character. Guilds were also often in character, usually under the guise of guild chat being a "guild hall" of sorts (which I never liked) or with some kind of mass communication device (my preference). RP servers were created so that RPers would have an easier time finding each other. Just because you could RP in party chat on a plain old PVE or PVP server doesn't mean you'd ever find someone willing. That said I've seen people RP in general chat before and have no problem with it; it's honestly better than no RP at all. I love RP myself, but have found none of it on my current RP-PVP server. Quin, you could always create an RP channel and advertise it in general as a sort of chat based RP cantina or the like. I'm unfamiliar with how well you can moderate channels, but I imagine you'd be able to do things like kick trolls. Or you could create your own guild. Poor options, I know, but something to consider. Regardless, you have my sympathies. >:
  22. I'd like to see an LFG tool, but I'd like to see it pull people just from your server. That gives you the best of both worlds - quick grouping AND it prevents destroying the community. If it only pulls from a pool of people on your server, then you can meet other interesting people you can add to your flist and group with later. LFG tools only ruin server communities when they pull from multiple servers, because then it ruins the ability to make "friendships" with people. What's the point in making friends with someone to group with later if you'll never be able to see them again? An LFG that's only server wide fixes that. It'd also have the added bonus of letting you block any clownshoes you meet up with who spoil your fun or ninja loot stuff.
