  1. I was having the same problem, I was DPS specced until a couple days ago and got sick of it so I decided to try Kinetic out. MAN OH MAN what a difference, since then I have not stopped once to heal, taken on 2 groups with 2 silvers at once and still come out near max health. Elites are laughable now, I can't believe I ever rolled as anything but Kinetic with Tharen, I'm unstoppable!!! If you want to stay DPS, then as suggested gear is most likely the culprit, especially on your companions. Most people neglect gearing companions and it always leads to problems.
  2. I don't mean to be an #@@, but I'm so sick of seeing TOR compared to WoW. Well, it's not the direct comparison as much as people acting like WoW was the way it is now from the start. It took Blizzard years to finally get things right with that game, and on the other hand they completely screwed a lot of thing up as well. It's funny seeing such selective memory from people when it comes to things like this, all I see is this type of comparison without any regard to the problems that plagued that game. After years of playing my toons Blizzard decided to completely re-work the classes and twist them into some steaming pile of.... well you get it. They should be shot for what they did to my Pally!!! Every expansion is followed up immediately with something they completely messed up, the forums are filled with crying and complaining and hordes of people threatening to cancel their subs. Burning Crusade brought forth the unstoppable Druid Bears, boy that was fun to witness.... Warlocks went from masters of the elements to little cute casters that tickled people with their spells... My pally felt more like a Rogue after they implemented the Holy Power system. Their policy on "Homogenization" is absurd, there needs to be differences in classes and each should have a strength and weakness, it's about being talented enough to balance them out. Blizzard took the easy way out and just made them able to do practically the same thing.... /end rant. sorry, but I think it's safe to say we all know why I cancelled my sub... Blizzard caters to the vocal majority, which ironically is usually the minority on any given subject. Most people that are happy with the way things are don't feel the need to speak up, but those with an axe to grind always find a place to grind it... On Topic: yes I do wish there was a way to return an item, but say only in a 30 minute window. There's plenty of completely reasonable explanations as to why someone could accidentally click the wrong item. The mouse could twitch a little, someone's cat could push the mouse as they're clicking(I actually knew a guildie in WoW that this happened too, hearing it over Vent was hilarious), a muscle twitch at just the wrong time(happens to me occasionally), etc. It's a very simple system that could be a huge life saver to those that need to use it, and it has absolutely no effect on those that don't. There's really no logical(Logical being the key word) reason not to implement it, I have faith BW will at some point in the near future, probably after some of the more serious issues are dealt with.
  3. After reading up on all the problems people had I expected a irritatingly long fight, but to my surprise it only took about 4 attempts at level 49, Guardian Defense specced. After I got the hang of which abilities to run from, which to interrupt and what to ignore it was a cake walk. Finished with about 60% HP, T7 went down swinging almost right away due to bad gear. And to top it all off that chest that's bugged that has the gear for T7 worked after the fight.....
  4. Agreed to a certain point, but you have to take into account the massive amount of time it takes, from their standpoint all that stuff can be added if the game gets a good initial response. You, like everyone else that compares this game to WoW, completely ignored that WoW was similar when it was first released(with a few exceptions). No company is going to commit those kind of resources to create all that extra content, costing them tons of money along the way, without knowing how the basics of their game is received by the public, it's bad business. Perfect example: The Fleets being the same is not a big deal, if they want to revamp them all they have to do is something like release a content patch where each side launches a huge assault on the other sides main assets and we need to defend them, but in the process each Fleet gets destroyed. So then we need to do something similar to what they did in WoW where we have to gather enough mats as a server to finish the rebuild. See, it's that easy, that took me 5 seconds to come up with and I'm sure BW could do a better job but that's the biggest plus about MMO's, it's so insanely easy to renovate the game. Give them some time to really digest our feedback, let them focus on the more serious issues like the bugs and problems that actually affect our gameplay.. "WoW being out for 7 years" and "It's new so give them some time" are completely valid. I'm very happy they just didn't copy WoW, for one we'd have nothing but "TOR is just WoW in the the Star Wars Universe...." followed by nothing buy crying and complaining about how lazy BW is.... it's a double edged sword. You may have been happier but others wouldn't. BW wasn't lazy, look at the stories for each class, that took a lot of effort. I, along with many others, am very happy they put so much effort into the leveling experience instead of making it monotonous just so we could have some of the things you mentioned . I'd much rather have it this way instead of having them spend their time on something trivial like the design of the Fleet, where no real story takes place.... Or have some completely trivial aspect added like some random area we have to travel through to get to where we need to go, I like that everything has meaning, and it feels like we're actually in these areas for a reason. Granted there are some aspects that do feel rushed and underdeveloped, but that doesn't mean that's all we get. TOR is a month old(yes I said it because it's a completely valid argument), they are just getting started on reviewing the things we don't like about it and adjusting accordingly. It's very clear that they wanted to class story experiences to be the main focus for now, and I love it. I love that I don't have to travel through a bunch of BS to get to where I need to go, and I love that they didn't just try to copy WoW(cause that's worked out so well for other MMO's...). They did something new and put the focus where it needs to be instead of on creating some new shiny object to look at.
  5. I just saw that tip earlier today, it's still there. I think it's supposed to say you can click "Reset" to undo your choices before you click "Commit" if you want to redo the whole thing. There's also another tip that says if you want to unlearn your talents to visit a Skill Mentor, just saw that one 5 minutes ago.
  6. That!! I can't count how many times I've decided to call it a night early because of this ridiculous system, not to mention not even bothering to go back and do Heroics on other planets. I'm on a fairly low-pop server and it can be hard enough as it is to find a group for Heroics on a lot of planets, if not for this extremely frustrating travel system a lot more people would be doing Heroic runs and groups would be much easier to find. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to just land the ship in a dock somewhere on the planet, none. Sure a select few missions have had the need to go through a process for the story but come on, it's pathetic. If BW was trying to force us to waste time, which is a part of MMOs'(they have to make certain things take time, don't feel like getting into it), they sure succeeded, but at the same time they're alienating players with this. If you're one of the people that either like it or don't mind it, you are the minority, period. Stop acting like it shouldn't be changed, it's annoying and accomplishes nothing except annoying the vast majority of players. This game can't afford much more of this kind of criticism, people are getting fed up with a lot of the problems plaguing the game. I know they will fix the bugs, glitches and small problems, but this is an issue they need to address as well. If BW is too stubborn to want to change the things they "Need" to have in the game, TOR will fail horribly, every product (especially an MMO) needs to adapt to survive. Sure it's their game and they can do what ever they want, but it doesn't mean we're going to stick around to put up with it. Ask any business owner, if they're successful it's because they put their pride to the side and adapt to the market. If they paid attention to other MMO's, both successful and failed, they know what we want and how much we'll put up with before we leave, they need to get on things ASAP.
  7. That's not what he said at all... He stated a very simple rotation, and no where did he imply having to use every ability at his disposal. I'm level 49 on my JK and have never had one problem dealing with elites or large groups with silvers, and I'm usually at least a level below the content. With 4 interrupts(Force Stasis, Hilt Strike, Force Push and Kick) there really isn't any reason to not be able to handle Elites. I've faced Elites above my level where they barely got to touch me because of those interrupts. If you just use those abilities without worrying about using them as interrupts then that's the problem, use them wisely and spread out a little and you should rarely have to wait for one of them to come off cool down. The JK is not a hard class to play, it simply depends on your play style. I personally have more issues on my Shadow, but it has nothing to do with the class, but just how I prefer to play. Most people prefer the classes that don't take any effort, and that's fine, but don't act like it's impossible to play just because you don't know how. Many of us absolutely love it and have zero issues.
  8. No kidding, it's ridiculous to expect any new MMO to not have any issues at launch, and to expect BW to be able to perfect it in a month. Granted there are some things that do demand immediate attention but they can't be fixed over night, and BW is working on them so that's enough for me. TOR is an amazing game, it has some serious potential and as long as they follow through on being consistent about applying patches and fixing the issues I'll continue to play. I see people comparing it to WoW, but the really funny thing is that it seems like everyone forgot what it was like when that came first came out, or any other well received MMO for that matter. The problem isn't with BW, it's with the "Instant Gratification" attitude the general public seems to have. Honestly i expect to have to wait a few months before the game is fully playable without having to work around all the bugs and glitches, and that's a fair time frame. After that I'll cancel my sub until they get on top of things. This is why WoW will continue to dominate, because people aren't willing to wait for something good. I mean come one, 2 weeks after launch people were all up in arms about there not being enough end game content......2 weeks! You can tell that a lot of their time and focus went in to the leveling experience, and I for one am grateful. I'd much rather be able to enjoy leveling multiple characters and being immersed in the story than to be bored while leveling and have a little more to do at end game. I will say there have been a few times I almost just quit playing for awhile, some of the issues are serious and BW needs to get on them. Not counting the bugs, my biggest issue is lack of Macro and no add-on support, we need a custom UI! And the macros would actually give me some bar space on my JK!!! BW has already proven they are working on things, and we can't expect them to be perfect, as long as they continue to work on things they will get it right sooner rather than later.
  9. The add-ons aren't the problem, it's the people that use them to be elitist jerks. Those people will find other ways to feel superior and try to belittle others with or without mods. DPS meters are extremely helpful to those who use them to judge themselves and who want to improve, and a threat mod gives everyone a great tool to make groups run more efficiently, the DPS can see when they're about to pull aggro, and the ones that don't care or aren't trying will be exposed because they have no excuse. Things like UI, healing or tanking mods only affect those using them and can make things much easier so they can be more effective, what's wrong with that? Because you don't want to be judged by some random person you'll never meet in real life everyone else is suppose to go without the things that can make their playing experience more enjoyable? Bottom line is this is an MMO, add-on support will most likely happen, it's part of life to deal with things you don't like so you can enjoy the things you do. That applies to every aspect of life, when you play a game that brings so many different types of people into the fold, you can't expect to have things only your way and for BW to cater to one specific group of players. If they deny add-on support part of the player base will be happy, if they allow it part of the player base will be happy. The thing that should be the deciding factor is that the closest they can be to being fair about it is to allow it, and those that don't want to use them don't have to, and those that don't want to group with random jerks(who would be jerks with or without the ability to see your DPS) can find a guild of like-minded people. There are some things that should be standard to every MMO, like the ability to customize the UI, and to see your damage output. Being able to see your DPS is the absolute only way you'll ever be able to improve, it's like expecting a sports team to just get better without being able to review the game footage... Either way we'll all be fine, with or without them. If they allow them I assume people's ignore lists will fill up quick. If I had to vote, I'd vote yes. I'd much rather have to ability to make my play time more enjoyable and just put the jerks on /ignore. As for future content being tailored around various mods, let's just hope BW isn't that ignorant, and if they do they at least make the add-ons needed a part of the game interface like Blizzard did with a few of them.
  10. I agree and disagree, I did not expect at all for the game to be bug free but there are some serious issues that shouldn't be here. There's no need to go into all the details because there's been enough whining about them, but BW has a short window to fix the serious problems before people completely lose faith. For me the biggest problem is lack of basic tools like LFG, Macros and custom UI support. My JK has so many keybinds and so little bar space it's sickening, it would only take a few Macros to clear up 1/3 of my bar space... As far as the bugs go, I expected it and I'm completely fine with dealing with them until they get fixed, no amount of Beta testing could prevent it. What really cracks me up is that the game has been out for a month and people are acting like it should be perfect, like the OP said if you're a veteran to MMO's you KNEW better than to expect that, and if you're a newcomer to the genre then you need to realize that this is part of any online game when it's new. People want to compare it to WoW all day long but it's like people don't remember what that game was like when it first came out; tons of bugs, ridiculously annoying grinds, no LFG, etc. It took Blizzard years to finally come around to some of the things the players wanted, why on earth do you expect BW to do it in a month?... TOR has some real potential, and is the first game I think can give WoW a run for it's money(if BW does it right), it will just take time to get things sorted out and get into a groove. Nothing great is ever quick or easy, give them time and I'm sure they will surpass our expectations.
  11. 31, first attempt. Guardian is an excellent spec if you play it right, conserve your interrupts and CD's. I haven't had any issues with any story boss so far, and I'm always at least one level below them.
  12. I was on Tatooine at 24, finished up the class quest line at 26, I think I may have hit 27 literally right before the last fight. It's about the JK's playstyle, it doesn't offer much room for error. I'm heading to Balmarra now and only halfway to 32, need to head back to finish up a few quests. It's not an EZ mode class, gotta pay attention to pretty much everything and plan your CD's if you're having a problem with a specific mob. The JK actually punishes you for pressing the wrong button, which I like. Not like my Shadow, so far it's been a breeze with him.
  13. I agree, this is the first game in a long time that's really grabbed my attention and completely sucked me in. The stories are amazing, the Consular is my favorite so far, I just can't stop playing because I want to see what happens next. There are a few flaws, but I do have confidence that they will be addressed soon enough, like adding a Dungeon Finder, allowing for UI mods, etc. The lack of endgame content will be the deal breaker if they don't get on that soon, granted the game is still brand new there are plenty of impatient people that will cancel subs quickly. I was aware of this before I started playing so I'm taking my time leveling a few toons at once. BW has something great here and as long as they show us they intend on improving, the player base will continue to grow. I've played WoW for way too long, and put up with all the BS that Blizz pulled because there wasn't another game that could compete, TOR is it as long as they come out with more content and the few important fixes. It always makes me laugh when I see posts talking about the issues with the game like it's been out for a year and BW has just been lazy. I don't mean the people that just point out things that need improvement, that's always welcome and needed, but the people that just bash the Devs because the game isn't up to their standards after being out for a month... Give it time people, voice your concerns tactfully and they'll listen. I like the fact they put so much time and effort in to the stories of each class, I'd much rather have it like it is than to have a bland leveling experience where it's the exact same thing for each toon. Even though my toons travel the same planets, I don't get that repetitive feeling like leveling an alt in WoW because I'm working towards a goal specific to the class.
  14. I think people are getting way too worked up about this, IMO it's a good thing they're taking action. They've said they have no problem with players going to Ilum, or any other area, early if you want to try for the chests. They're taking action to stop TOR from becoming WoW where all you see is Ads in chat for Gold sellers, they handled it well by only warning or temporarily suspending accounts. The only real bans were the credit farmers, which is excellent. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that TOR is new, and they are going to make adjustments based on what they see. If they don't want a particular area or system to be exploited then they don't have to allow it. How many times did Blizzard pull crap ten times worse than this? TOR is a great game so far, sure there are bugs and flaws, things that need to be added and taken out, but the game is still brand new. People want to compare this to WoW all day long, but they forget what that game was like when it was first released..... If you want BW to listen to your concerns, don't just aimlessly flame or attack them, take a few minutes and be tactful about it and they'll listen. They know what the big ticket issues are, and they know if they want to keep our money coming in they have to improve, we just got to give them time.
