  1. Among other advices that I got when starting were these (also the ones that helped the most: - Don't play the scout you start with, use strike: it can take a LOT more damage before blowing up, which means a lot more experience before you need to respawn and rush back. - If you can't do anything else put power to shields, fly around your satelite and annoy people that try to take it. Don't try to damage them (unless there is an oportunity), just fly closely around the satelite and keep them busy till help comes. Unless there is a good gunship nearby, then you're screwed . - Don't barrel roll/retro thruster/kologarn turn yourself into satelite. It hurts. I'm still not very good, but I am a lot better at annoying people.
  2. From what I saw, it's about the same as Supressive fire, maybe even a bit weaker (SF has no stun though).
  3. Windows 10. MS decided to skip 9. Of course you have and of course noone else has. Using Vista doesn't take intelligence, just stubborness. Did you do it for losing a bet? XP was better. ...MS stopped supporting XP. Big businesses don't change software unless they must and they don't use anything that has bad reviews (like win8) or needs retraining (like win8). If people used old computers before 3.0 and patch notes didn't mention a change in minimum system requirements then it should play the same after 3.0 . Sorry for feeding the troll but I couldn't stop myself
  4. I started playing during the x12, so the first instance (in this game) I could get was just after 3.0 came. I queue and get KDY: Me, 24 sorc, 2 30ish sorcs and a 47 sorc. I enter, type 'First time here, first instance ever so tell me if I need to do anything'. While I was typing, people scatter and start attacking mobs all over. Oh well, I follow the 47 and attack his targets. This works till we get to the 'defend the dock' part (not sure about the name). After killing mobs that came, 2 people run off to the left stairs up, 47 goes to the right ones. I follow the 47 up. We kill some mobs on the stairs and then he pulls the group on top, in the middle. I look and see other 2 sorcs dead and 2 elites (champions?) in the group he pulled. I focus on one I can see from the stairs, bring him to about 10% when suddenly other mobs start attacking me. I run down, killing the elite on the way and los/kite the rest of the group around till I got help: a PT and operative. Confused to hell out of me till I checked chat log later: group changed 6 people while we were running as people died they would just leave. Finished it without problems after that, but still it's most confusing instance I did in a long time. Next time I go I will have to ask for tictacs again, cause I have no idea what was going on. Another fun part: When purple item dropped, I would check what it is and get 'Just press greed already ffs'. I look better and see a) it's a rep item and b) everybody else needed. Right, I'll greed.
  5. Anyone that thinks leveling in SWTOR is a grind doesn't know what grind is.
  6. If you remember that, you're already better than I am.
  7. If they add new content that is better than old, people will play it and mostly ignore the old. Difference is that when you add new levels, everybody starts at the same starting point at new level. Get to 60, gear up, do new content. Without new levels to reset the playing field, new players need to get to 55, then gear up for old content and only then start new content. And if there are more content levels, then gearing up takes too long for new players to get into it.
  8. This is one of problems: x12 + skipping all non story quests means that the char and companion are both relatively badly geared. Everything is harder. Most elites I had to kill were a lot easier than 2*silver groups even before the 3.0. BH Aurora mission comes to mind: Elites were done relatively easily and the double silver groups usually ended up with me dying after I killed one silver. And there are a lot of double silver groups on Aurora...
  9. I played my sniper from 10-13 (Dromund Kaas) yesterday and mobs died very quickly. Much faster than on my PT at about same level. Not sure how it will be later though.
  10. It is possible that those people really annoyed you and you twitched the finger? Anyway, glad it's fixed.
  11. As a new player, I agree with the 'Strikes are best'. I tried the starting scout but I couldn't kill anything and died very quickly. Bought a gunship and it's fun, but surviving with it is as hard as the beginning scout. Advice I got for survival will be useful once I get enough requisition, but for now I spawn, get in position, shoot a few times and usually die. Strikes give me a chance to survive long enough to get a few kills/assists or at least hold a satelite till help comes.
  12. #4 Right mouse button not working right - I had this problem, it was dirty and would lose contact if i even slightly moved a finger. Not enough to notice in normal play, but enough to lose the lock.
  13. I had problems with both of these just this week. I picked PT and after a while realised it's a melee class. Afterwards I got my inquisitor to 10 and couldn't find if sorcerer is ranged or melee anywhere since all attacks had 10 meter range. Luckily I joined a guild between getting BH to 10 and Inq to 10 and asked there. Anyway, very helpful post, especially the UI part.
  14. Problem is in the name. Wizard/magic are fantasy terms. Force user/Force are SW terms. Similar to using archer/crossbowman(crossbowwookie?) for anyone using a bowcaster. Technically correct, but doesn't fit. Tbh, I am more annoyed by the "The Jedi Master is reportedly more powerful than The Force" part. How does that work?
