  1. Speaking of reality, Bioware just had layoffs here in Austin. You won't find a news release because they had them signing NDAs to try and keep it from being public. You can't keep it quiet when these people are interviewing for other jobs and need to explain why they left their previous company though.
  2. I rerolled on The Harbinger back in Feb after researching server activity and guilds. The Harbinger seemed to be one of the most active without a que, yet in off peak was often the highest due to some Aussie players. That way I could play any time and have WZ's popping and people to play with. Still wish I could get my other 50 off the dead server and friends from there who quit or refuse to reroll.
  3. You reading the same thread I am? While the reasons vary and are all over the board, most in this thread appear to be saying they're quitting because their server never has a war zone pop and/or nobody is around to group with in OPS and FPs... and rerolling would be throwing everything away they've done for 4+ months. Yeah, they can do their dailies they can solo, play alts, play space missions, but this is an MMO and people payed for an MMO which tells me they were more than likely expecting a lot of player interaction, grouping, and PVP.
  4. Wow... while I understand your point of view, I understand the others as well. People who can't see multiple points of view I feel sorry for and are typically the sheeple who do things like tie themselves to one political party. So let me try and lay it out here to help you see more than just the side you want to. http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/23/bioware-doing-anything-and-everything-to-keep-players-logging-in-to-swtor/ In paragraph 3, TWO DAYS AGO, Bioware stated: "mergers are on the cards, but not a priority." This is concerning considering it's a HUGE priority to many here posting. However, he has a counter which explains why it's a low priority because he's giving preference to building up the population as stated here: "According to Erickson, they’re doing “anything and everything” to bring that concurrent users number up. “Nothing is off the table when it comes to making sure our communities are strong and active on each server.”" HOWEVER, they've given a free month to bring people back and had free weekends to anyone who wants to play and the servers on those free weekends are still dead. Now given that info, common sense would tell you to simply "bring concurrent users up" isn't such an easy task and they're failing even after extreme measures of FREE PLAY right after a content update. So basically people feel Bioware is out of touch after those statements. People aren't going to just sit around months waiting for Bioware to build concurrent users lol. There are dead servers and they show no signs of changing, therefor mergers or transfers SHOULD be a priority. There, now you have the other side of it. I understand both and hope you do as well On a side note, Bioware had some very recent layoffs they don't want public. They had the people sign NDAs even. I know because I'm in Austin and these people are interviewing for other local companies. I'm not saying it's because SWTOR is failing, or if it's completely unrelated involving other games... but it's not a good sign IMO.
  5. Wow, and that was 2 days ago... but they're talking merge, maybe transfers will come soon. Regardless, I'm with ya, just DL'd GW2 beta for this weekends open beta.
  6. You are not allowed to talk about the same thing in two different threads around here... especially if it's potentially negative! You all know what's coming! Thread lock, followed by: Hi all, Since this thread focuses on the topic of server populations, we're going to close this thread and ask that the community continue to use one of the existing threads on this topic in order to consolidate the discussion: Server population is dropping... Server Population is GROWING! Thank you for your understanding!
  7. I don't care about the "light" and "standard" statuses, only the # of people and ability to play the game. Right now it's 3:00 server time on Colonel Tobin and here are the stats: IMP: 68 total players lvl 1-50 14 lvl 50 players 8 in Fleet REPUB: 63 total players lvl 1-50 15 lvl 50 4 in Fleet There's not a single WZ going on the whole server, and rarely is. I know it's not peak, but I logged in Sat at 9:00 PM server time and there were 163 total players. Keep in mind this was a free weekend. The server rarely breaks 30 online in fleet during peak. I know for a fact there are servers worse than this even. I'm not a hater or fanboi. I like the game and want it to succeed but no hiding that there's a current population problem that could make or break it IMO. I rerolled on a more populated server in Feb but many friends are still on the old server, or quit. Also, you can believe me or not, but Bioware had some *very* recent layoffs/cutbacks they don't want public. I know because they're interviewing for other companies right now here in Austin. They even had them signing NDAs. I have no idea if that's directly related to the success/failure of this game, but it's not a positive indicator.
  8. Some of you guys reporting dead server numbers have better numbers than the server that my original 50 is on, has seen since early January. It's 9:30PM Sat and Colonel Tobin has 16 online in Fleet (imp side) and a total of 145 players across all lvls. 25 are lvl 50. There's not a single WZ running on the server for both 1-49 and 50. What's worse is I know there are servers that make this place look packed lol.
  9. I rerolled on Harbinger in Feb, only ran into a que once (2-3 min wait) and it was soon after 1.2, due to people checking out the update and I suppose the free month many got. I chose Harbinger over Fatman because Fatman seems to have a que a lot. Harbinger is a great server, but I'd really like to get my other 50 off the dead server (Colonel Tobin) it's on as well as my friends who refused to reroll and gave up on the game. They'd probably consider playing if there were a transfer option or merge... but the longer it takes the more interest they'll lose considering the other games coming.
  10. My highest before 1.2 was 890k, since 1.2, 680k. Pre-1.2 I always did my 10 WZs per day and usually had 1 over 800k. Since 1.2, I still usually do 10+ WZs and 1 @ 600k+ , but most are ~400k. I'm bull BM, and have 2 lvl 50 healers (sage/sorc) so all I know is healing. I agree that healing numbers don't show the whole picture in regards to effectiveness in WZs. The best healers are prioritizing, supporting, and CCing which can often drop your final numbers a lot vs. following masses around to AOE heal and top them off during and after fights. I'm doing *ok* post-1.2 but I think a lot of it is due to the BM expertise buff and the fact that most people aren't in full BM yet. I suspect things will get ugly once the majority are in BM since it's so much easier to get and WH isn't as huge of a stat increase. It would really suck if more people had a clue on when to use interrupts, but that helps get me by! My survivability odds drop multiples when a competent player is on me... I know, duh right? My current pvp build (no aoe heal, and I never use NS): http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GGMRMdMdhZf0bMZbM.1 Sorry no screenshots, I run on bootcamp on a Mac and need to look up how to do it lol, no print screen button on the Mac KB.
  11. I'm now hearing the sounds of 400 more servers coming online to hold this incredible, nearly triple digit, population.
  12. ...good one... FYI, on the server with 171 online right now I listed above, it's had a total of 2 WZ's pop today, both imp vs. imp huttball. It wouldn't be so bad if there were cross-server WZs at least. Maybe you should log onto it and ask everyone there if they think their server is dead. Be sure and tell them that's how all MMOs are to see who believes you. I like the game a lot and want it to grow, but I'm not in denial.
  13. Here's to compare, server Colonel Tobin, Imp side, 9:20PM server time 1-30 (64) 31-49 (57) 50 (50) Total players 171 Total Fleet population 15 Of the lvl 50: 16 in EV 14 in Fleet 12 Pit (imp vs. imp match) 3 Ilum 2 Corellia 2 Belsavis 1 Unknown (it's blank) Tue pop is always a lil higher since the weekly resets, a couple guilds come do their ops. So this is about as good as it gets on this server.
  14. Most annoying bug for me is when people are in a WZ with you and not listed in the ops group. As a healer, it's VERY hard to watch the health of those not listed in the ops group.
  15. Yeah you take a beating as a new 50 for sure. But if you started with gear that was competitive with the best out there, it would kind of take away one of the main points to playing, which is working towards better gear, because it's... better.
  16. Just took your advice on Colonel Tobin where it's 6:30 PM server time Friday. lvl 27-32 has 16 people online. What do you think the chances are of those 16 you'll get 1/4 of them to drop what they're doing to run it with you AND be the right classes/builds? Other server stats as of right now: Players lvl 10-49 = 108 Players lvl 50 = 20 Total population that has LFG flag = 2 23 ppl on fleet
  17. I've been having the same issue. It sometimes changes my camera angle and direction my guy is moving. Never had this happen in any other game, but I do have a new mouse and thought it was the cause. Once in EV I hit sprint and suddenly my guy cut right and ran off the edge and died! I've noticed it more in PVP for some reason. I'm using a new Logitech G700 mouse.
  18. If you need proof of a dead server go check where my first lvl 50 is, Colonel Tobin. Last night when I logged on at 7:45 PM server time (East coast) there were 11 people on in the Imperial Fleet. About 10 minutes later the IMP vs. IMP huttball game let out and it jumped to 19. A guy in my guild Akali (feel free to join the server and ask) has the highest valor of the server and is valor 59. To get 50 pvp to pop, we have to try and coordinate getting people logging on at certain times and queuing which means the same 14-16 people shuffled around in hutball.
  19. Okay, even though it was after the superbowl and the point was to compare one server to another assuming one doesn't have more football fans than another... How about we compare right now? Colonel Tobin Empire Fleet = 10 players Harbinger Republic Fleet = 116 players That's as of right now.
  20. The server with my 50, Colonel Tobin, has 14 people online on the Empire Fleet right now. lvl 50 warzones don't exist EVER. Meanwhile Harbinger, where I'm trying to reroll (lvl 31), has 188 on the Repiblic Fleet currently. I don't know how low the population of a server needs to be before it's considered dead, but it's not looking good. I'm fine with being called an idiot for selecting that server, but it showed no signs of potentially ending up like this when I joined it.
  21. I hit 50 on Colonel Tobin and between separating 50's into another pvp bracket and people bailing, the server is a wasteland IMO. So I'm re-rolling on Harbinger. Here's a comparison between the two servers. Right before this post I checked, and... Colonel Tobin Empire Fleet population: 2 Harbinger Republic Fleet population: 72 Colonel Tobin should have the advantage because more ppl play Empire, plus it's on the east coast so it's later for them and closer to peak time. I sat for hours in PVP ques and I don't believe there has been a single 50 pvp bracket match of any type. I'm holding out hope something will change, but instead of hopping around doing lame stuff, I'm trying another character. The re-roll has been amazing, Harbinger actually has ppl running the same mission as you you can group with lol.
  22. I don't think we've had a single WZ pop yet for 50+ since they created the bracket. I've been in the que for hours and not even a game of hutt ball. I'd pay for a server transfer if they just had the option. Many of the lvl 50 guys on my server are either going to (or have) quit, re-roll on another server, or just kill time with alts hoping something changes. You people on higher pop servers may be seeing your numbers stay high because of the people re-rolling.
