I think you feel this way for one simple reason: in SWG you felt you had some impact on the world and there was a sense of interdependence; that your presence in the world mattered. My first experience with that was in Ultima where I had my little house on the road where I sold reagents and dyes mostly. Not much...but my wee little footprint. I pvp'd (if you can call it that) helped level guildies all that stuff as well. I "think" that's probably how the folks in Eve feel about their little mad science experiment of a game. SWTOR feels like a giant single person game with lots of people playing at the same time. I love the game as a KOTOR 3, but as an MMO...not so much...(yet I hope...)
Your actions, decisions, associations, affiliations, professions, equipment....they just don't matter one whit.
