  1. Greetings, After the update 4.3 when I logged in to play the game I had an error message right after the launcher had finished installing the update. I had had other programs running and had assumed that the error message was related to something other than SWTOR. I did not read the whole thing so this is probably at least partly on me. At the time I just clicked the play button and it began about right, for a single moment I saw the usual loading screen and then it went all black and my cursor had the loading icon. I was not overly concerned so I walked away, about fifteen minutes later I come back and it is still there. I decided to try and stop the game, hoping that I could get it to work the next time through. Did the Ctrl+Alt+delete and started a task manager. When it came back to the main computer, before the task manager started, SWTOR seemingly started running again. When it came to the character selection screen it stated the game was still uploading and was giving me the option to play on one of the starter worlds. The Download was locked at 99.94% for the few minutes I left it before stopping the game. I tried restarting the computer, changing a setting on the bitraider, per the suggestion of another person on a faintly similar issue, nothing has worked. Could I get some help?
  2. I think it would be really great to have those sets of gear for looks and what not. I really found it amusing the appearance and enjoyed the Dread Masters enough that I would put cartel coins into a full set of gear. (Got everything but the gloves ;_; )
  3. Hello I wanted to ask about an issue that I have faced over the past few days now. The Fallen Empire update is being downloaded on my computer, however at 99.85% the launcher seems to just stay put. The loading speed will change for a few seconds to minutes afterwards however it too just stops. I have tried waiting overnight for it to finish but it never changed. I tried the update on a couple other computers in my house and they had no trouble so I am concerned that it might be something on my end. I was hoping that someone would be able to help. Thank you.
  4. I would love these to come back, I got most of the Tionese gear for my Sage and accidentally got a full set of Jedi Knight Tionese for Qyzen, before I knew he used Aim (I know very bad newbie mistake, but then we all make mistakes some just seem more stupid than others, such as when I always got absorption armor for my sage ). Also if they bring back this I hope they bring back the named weapons, I was looking forward to getting Jolee Bindo's Lighsaber (and Bastila Shan's for that matter). I thoroughly enjoyed the comical look of the sage's headdress, with its half-moon appearance, whenever I saw it I would laugh and say, "Wow, where has this guy been for his clothing?" Now where it comes from I do not mind I would just love to see some of the old gear brought back. And for those who may say I am new and simply want it given to me, I was subbed since a month past launch. I just did not make/get enough time to do the grinds. I am home schooled and my parents are very strict on video game time allotments so playing enough to get one sage to 50 and grinding the end-game flashpoints/operations was not always an option. So I agree with bringing back the gear, all of the end-game 50 gear. It does not need to come from the Cartel Market, as Bioware seems to be making quiet a profit off of that already not that I am complaining. I would just love to see it come back that is for sure.
  5. Okay so I am going to put this out just to start. (I have a huge eloquent set up argument to and for both sides but I am leaving that for a later point because it is very long and somewhat dull to tell truth.) So here it goes just for Tyber Zann. His first advantage is that he has a military training, also he has often had to fight to make his criminal organizations survive, meaning that he would be more prepared for a Kaggath than Xizor would be. Tyber's power base was built through hardship leading to the fact that if the Black Sun were to gain the upper hand in a military or criminal view Tyber would be used it and is in someways even prepared for it. Xizor has a larger network, mostly because he is a good leader and has a crime syndicate which has been around for an incredibly long time in comparison to the Zann Consortium. However he would not react as well as the Consortium would if if were to loose power. Xizor was born very wealthy, so much so that he could pay to have a building (a skyscraper to be specific in the presidential district of Coruscant) demolished to create his own palace which was larger many of the surrounding buildings. While he was one of the most important leaders of the Black Sun, he was not as well trained for the life of a Crime Lord, which at points can be opulent and at other times can be very stressful. So for this first reason Tyber does have an advantage. Okay so there is the first, anyone see a flaw in my argument. I would love to hear if there is anything wrong with it so don't be shy. Don't worry I won't bite
  6. Sorry that I am taking awhile. I just want to try and complete the argument and the set up for it. (I have a Microsoft Word that I am working through to adjust it so as to make sure it is air tight as possible.)
  7. Oh does it take longer now? Is it maybe because there are more people taking part?
  8. Okay I know this thread hasn't been posted on for a long time. However I would like to ask if I may add something on Zann's behalf, just in case. (He is my personal favorite, and I have done a lot of studying. I have also done studying on Xizor, as they are bitter enemies, so I have seen that both were very powerful. I am not biased..... okay maybe a little...... okay I love one way more than the other, however I can defend either with pretty good chances.) So I simply want to ask if this thread is still open for discussion, and if so may I put my two-cents in for consideration?
  9. This has an interesting theme going. The ideas are quite ambitious, and I like them. I look at how this game is laid out and it isn't really as free for player control as other games. I mean you only get to control, what you kill, how you talk to people, what you look like. This game is amazing, it is fun and different (this is coming from me, who has never played another MMO... well aside from Lego Universe, but that was awhile ago ). At first as I read this thread I felt much sympathy for Marrius, but I do see that there is some slander issues (no offense). People try to bring information to the table, while it could have been done with more finesse (in some cases), it was still brought without any truly rude remarks. The problem is that neither side appears (again I say appears) to have the willingness to gently guide the other. Marrius is told he is wrong, then he begins to tell people that they are not listening. Conversely other people are told they are wrong then they retaliate by being extremely blunt in a situation which is already riding near the boiling point. The SWG issue is interesting. While I never got to play it, (by the time I was old enough and into that sort of thing it was on its last legs) it sounded fun in retrospect. From what I have read, and I have done some research (probably not as much as you guys (or girls)) that game fell out due to a serious lacking in subscribers. Most of which left after the huge change with the enhancements (from what I remember reading these changes majorly effected the combat and mechanics) as Blu Haze pointed out humans are naturally against change (most are that is). This led to eventual decision of shutting down SWG. Now in regards to bringing the sort of open world type to this game. It will cost quite a sum, probably more than Bioware is willing to make at this juncture. However who knows... I think what they could do instead of making worlds completely open is making it so you can design special gear, instead of following a set path. That would open up a more controlled feeling to the game (not that it doesn't have it slightly). I wanted to bring these little quips from Henry Ford ( I seriously hope I do not need to say who he is ). He said in regards to industry: "A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business." "Business is never so healthy as when, like a chicken, it must do a certain amount of scratching around for what it gets." There are quite a few more, you should really read them. I think this would be fun, but I don't see it as a viable option at this moment for Bioware. Now I pulled this together in about half and hour at the end of a brutal day, so if it sounds stupid please say so. All burns and comments are very welcome.
  10. I would love this to be come true. The downside is they will likely only bring them back, if at all, during some event or something akin to that. The reason for this is that once the pack leaves circulation then the items that were in said pack will become worth much more, both on the GTN and buying it from vendors. Then they make it so that in order to buy those items from the vendor requires Reputation. The only way to make reputation is to buy more cartel packs, and then for some rarer items it requires little certificates that also come from Cartel packs. And if you aren't a subscriber then you need to pay for each and every cartel coin. This makes money, for Bioware. If they brought back certain packs then the value of the items within the packs would have a small decrease. They still make money but then people who get extras start selling them on the GTN leading to less likelihood of people buying more cartel pack. The one thing that must be understood while playing, is that this game, and all games, are meant for two things. Firstly and more importantly they are supposed to make a profit for those who made the game. Secondly they are supposed to be enjoyable enough for people to buy the game. This game is made to be easy (yes it is easy compared to many games) and fun so that Bioware can make money and continue to make money. It is extremely difficult for MMORPGs in general because they cost a lot (I mean almost millions to build and keep on line). Thus more money must be made to make it worth it to the company. People are willing to continue to play this game, though it breaks a few canonical rules, because it is fun. And when the game is fun it makes people buy it, then they pay for it. Then Bioware makes money. Now I will not say that Bioware has been solely based around profit, however it has felt that way many times. (All you who complain that Bioware isn't treating loyal subscribers fairly have a little to learn. We who have played from the launch till now have gotten the result of the money we spent, we have gotten to play from beginning to whenever we decide to stop. If that isn't reward enough then I don't think anything would change your mind.) Bioware has tried to make it enjoyable for many people. Yes, there are a few things that need to be fixed, such as helping RPers a little more. But they have limited capabilities due to the engine they are using. They have made an enjoyable game. It has had its ups and its downs, but ultimately more people have played this game and thought it was fun than otherwise. Sorry for going on like that. Yes I think this would be a fun idea.
  11. I wish this were true, but unfortunately it isn't. Since how we grew up will be different from how the previous generation would have grown up there will be differences in thoughts and physical attributes. So no two generations are exactly alike. For example: Let's start by taking someone who fought in WW 2. Then take someone who read all about the same war, watched very realistic movies about it, learned everything he could about that one war. Would he see it in the same way as the man who actually fought through the war. The answer is no, because the man who read about it will have learned what it was like but not experience it. The man who fought in the war would know what it is like both head and heart. Let's try something else, take people from the Depression. Then take some people from today. The economy is dropping near the Depression level. So would the people from different times have similar thoughts. Again the answer is more than likely no. People today will have grown up with different standards than those of the past (a shortsighted idea unfortunately, we should return to the older standards of things). Now I am not saying that someone from an older generation can't like the same things as people today. But just because they are related to us does not mean they will like it. Also just because someone can like something does not mean that they will like something. People are not all from one mold, we are variables we each and everyone of us are different. Even identical twins have different fingerprints, and different personalities to some degree. So I am not quibbling the fact that an older generation can like what a newer generation likes, I quibbling the fact that you said that all generations are the same, 0 differences means that same. That is just not true unfortunately. If it were then this world would have been worse off a long time ago. Now to the subject of the crystal. I think it would be fun, not logical but fun. I can see it now, people running around with black lightsabers, heh heh heh. I'll /sign.
  12. Letting you know, this site's roleplay post by post goes through phases. It will be alive and well for a few weeks then suddenly goes quiet. Then it will come alive again. I've been through a number of these cycles.
  13. Alright so I am completely new to RP guilds, that being said I would like to make an RP guild. My idea is to produce a guild that will be similar to actual factions. Not sure if this has been done before, if so please let me know! Anyway, I was thinking along the lines of two guilds (One for each faction) that are attached to the faction, however they have their own goals. They spy on the other guild using people who have decided to specialize in that field. They use planets for their goals as well. For example lets say an Imperial Agent was captured and transported to Belsalvis, the Imperial guild would send fighters to release the Agent. The guilds would have meetings where they discuss tactics for battles, information that may have come in, and what to do with prisoners. While one guild is having a meeting the other may be trying to infiltrate the guild to learn possible weaknesses. Each guild would interact with the other. I am not sure how this would work, again this is my first try at an RP guild. I am also not sure what server I should put it on. I was thinking Jedi Covenant, because there is a serious lacking in RP guilds on that server and also all my high levels are on that server. I don't want to transfer them, but I know that if I start the guild on that server then it won't have many people. So any advice is appreciated. If anyone would like to join or leave advice then please do so here.
  14. I think this would be interesting. I would gladly join if you will have me. I don't think I have any Imperial character on that server, but I can make one.
  15. Question are all posts read and replied too?
  16. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself. Why do you want to be a part of the Czerka family? I have seen the truth behind this war. The Empire and Republic are galactic powers, but Czerka is more. It stands above the Republic and Empire, selling them whatever Czerka wishes to sell. Czerka keeps the best products for those willing to pay the most. Once I was a Jedi. I was proud of my Order's strength and the ability to help others. However I found that the Jedi Order was only a puppet for the Republic. I shall never be a puppet and so I left the Jedi Order to become a freelance. But I found that I was drawn to Czerka because they are the true galactic power. They shall last when the Republic, the Empire, and every other galactic power falls away. They will exist for as long as there is a market and a profit to be made. I have witnessed Czerka accomplish biological miracles and engineering marvels. The power, beauty, and perfection shown by Czerka are all a passion I share. I wish to join so that I may bring my strengths to Czerka. 2. At Czerka, we pride ourselves on our accomplishments. Please name three of your accomplishments that you are most proud of. 1. I saved the Republic from the Children of the Emperor. By eliminating all of the high ranking Children on Corellia. 2. I rescued Revan from the Empire's Maelstrom Prison. Killing one of the leaders of the Sacking of Coruscant at the same time. 3. I have effectively gathered a crew who will follow my lead in anything I do. They consist of a Trandoshan hunter, a Brilliant scientist, a Rebel from Balmorra, a Soldier from the ice lands of Hoth, a padawan from Sarkhai, a protocol droid (Which I intend on donating for use in experiments), and one of Czerka's own HK-51 units. 3. How did you go about achieving the accomplishments above. Would you say you would do "whatever it takes" for success? I was able to complete these tasks through the understanding that all my strengths are tools and all my weaknesses are mill-stones. I built up my weaknesses until they were tools which I could use, and my strengths I refined to perfection. I was knew that I must do anything necessary to complete the tasks and as shown I succeeded. 4. Would you say you have a strong moral compass? Do you think this could get in the way of your job, should you be asked to do something...questionable? My moral compass is somewhat strict, thanks to the Jedi training. However I have learned to deaden my feelings for short bursts as necessary, to some extent. I believe that only at some points would it become a hindrance to my job. I am capable of doing any task required weather questionable or not. 5. You are about to enjoy our wide variety of complimentary cocktails and snacks, when you notice that your esteemed colleague's newest experiment is likely to break out of their confines while you are gone. How would you handle this situation? My first instinct is to warn the colleague of his dangerous situation and either subdue the creature or exterminate it. However the experiment is something that is not worth giving up. The colleague's incompetence in this matter is something worth rectifying. If my colleague is willing to endanger everyone inside the facility just to test an experiment, then he will learn of the repercussions. I would have the experiment subdued in what ever way necessary and then moved to a stronger constraint. The experiment will be studied and we will perfect it to whatever the galaxy needs at that moment. We can make it more obedient to Czerka workers and use it as a guard animal or work horse based animal. My colleague has no control for his power, making him a danger to Czerka, a man like him would lead to the destruction of hundreds of thousands of credits in produce. This is unacceptable, I would suggest one of three things for him, execution (However personally I think this is a waste), his position removed and handed over to another scientist for use as he sees fit, or place him in a lower position and have him work on more recreational products. This way we remove the danger of a colleague's failure to protect Czerka's interests, without wasting a perfectly good mind that may be used for other purposes. And we also save an experiment that will lead to a break through in Czerka studies and lead to more profit. I am open to whatever position needed. I believe that I would fit under Organism Handler or research Contributor, but I will gladly be placed where I am chosen. The honor of this applying to Czerka is mine, Corruck Zann
  17. Okay, let me start by saying, I am sorry if my last post sounded a bit like tryng to over power. Now as said before, there are lots of different sorts of griefers (Or Anti-Rpers). I am sure that most of you will be aware of the different types of people who are causing problems. I will just put down a list of types of people within the Rp problem, I also shall write ways of dealing with them. Let's start with: Anti-Rp-ers There are those who do it just for fun, who do it for attention, and those who do it because they have little else to do. For ease of reading I will just give a usable names. Those who do it for fun are Conditional Anti-Rp-ers. Those who do it for the attention are Attention Seeking Anti-Rp-ers. Those who do it because they have nothing else to do are Bored Anti-Rp-ers. The Conditional Anti-Rp-ers are some of the harder ones to deal with. Because they don't care whether they get attention or not. They do just because they have a right to do what they will. They can go in and mess with someone else whether that person or persons like it or not. (Evil Side of Brain) They do have a right. A right to free speech and also a right to free gaming. So just deal with it. Jumps into scene pushing Main side away. (Main side) But also those who play the game have rights, so if you run into this sort of person start by ignoring them. That may deter them. Sure it will. They are doing it for fun, so why should being ignored by a bunch of people really matter to them? If they persist, you should start immediately by asking them to kindly stop. Now remember being polite and in control of yourself is key. If asking does not stop them, then report them and continue moving on with what ever you are doing. Don't just use the ignore key, ignore them completely. You can also construct a new tab and remove basic chat and emotes. Then use group chats or whispers to continue Rping. The Attention Seeking Anti-Rp-ers are some of the easiest. Simply ignore and for the most part that will stop them. However some take being ignored as a sign that their annoying tactic is working and may find ways around it. You should follow a similar step by step tactic as above. Look just because because they do it doesn't mean they do it for bad reasons. Sometimes they do it because they want attention, because they may be attention deprived. Or maybe it is a part of them that rarely comes out in life. Or it could be an outlet for pent up emotions. It doesn't matter the reason. They end never justifies the means. Whatever they are trying to accomplish whether good or bad. They are going about in a way that does deprive the good Rp-ers time. Not saying that Rp-ers are always in the right. As will be covered in the Rp-ers part of this post. Bored Anti-Rp-ers are sometimes the hardest to get rid of. They simply want to do something because they don't have anything else to do, or are waiting for something else. Such as HaoZhao's example (Hao, I understand you were waiting for a FP and that the Rp-er was in the wrong with blaming you of being in a conspiracy. I believe you got the part bad side of the Rp-er realm. Also it may have been a case of in the wrong place at the wrong time, and doing a move around the wrong people. Again I do not hold you responsible for what happened. I am only using your example except imagine it is someone using it intentionally to interrupt Rp-ers.) the person see Rp-ers and because he is bored or waiting for something he annoys the Rp-ers because it will give him something to do while he waits. These people are fun because they will do it, for the most part, halfheartedly. Or they do it with such vigor that when they finally leave there is an air about that makes it feel so empty suddenly. You get those who are so boring when do it that it causes a slight annoyance to the Rp-ers like a mosquito which is very annoying and just as disruptive as those who put their whole mind to it. Then you have those who put their whole mind to it and often make such a problem and cause so much excitement in the surrounding community that when he does finally stop it feels somewhat lacking. You know maybe you should go to bed now.... Oh, does nice side of bwain need me to weave you so you can continue talking these poor people's eaws off? No. It is just that you are disrupting the over all help I am trying to give. Oh alright. Bye for now. But I will be back. Walks out of the scene. Now onto Rp-ers. I will use three different sorts of Rp-ers as the three which cause most trouble. There is the Rarely Rp-er, the Simple Rp-er, and the Zealous Rp-er. The Rarely Rp-er is someone who rarely plays any Rp-ing at all. He may jump in and do a bit of Rp-ing on a whim. But for the most part is not an Rp-er. These people may be annoying to non-Rp-ers because they can choose bad times to Rp. Or just sometimes do shoddy work or Rp-ing. The Simple Rp-er is someone who may be part of an Rp guild and may Rp when their guild is and are generally enjoy Rp-ing when possible. These may be annoying to the non-Rp-er because they may act against what some want or wish to have a Rp zone when they are Rp-ing. Making it difficult to play sometimes. The Zealous Rp-er is one who Rps almost all the time. To the non-Rp-er he may seem very annoying because he always talks in character or acts like the character. This often flusters and causes non-Rp-ers to step away from Rping and may even become Anti-Rp-ers. I will not say whether I am an Rp-er or not. I hope that this helps slightly.
  18. I was reading through this and couldn't help but put in a little bit of understanding, if I may be so bold as to try and do so. From what I have heard, seen, and read. There are quite a few different annoying people on the servers. There are Trollers, griefers, Anti-Rp-ers, then there are the Rp-ers, those who get over worked about little annoyances, those that decided to fight back against Anti-Rp-ers with the same brutality that the Anti-Rp-ers try to get rid of the Rp-ers. I believe that maybe some mediation is needed between some of the non Rp-ers and some of the Rp-ers. As in this thread there is an obvious conflict which appears to the close embodiment of the very conflict going on in the game. Tomorrow I will hopefully pull together a list of what each is like and how to live with the other without coming to logger heads.
  19. I would like to join an active RP guild on Jedi covenant. Any suggestions?
  20. Good for you. Also I liked the verses you have written down.
  21. Well I am a Cather fan so there you have met one! lol
  22. Species/Race: Mirialan Name: Corruck Last Name:Zann Nickname: Cor (to acquaintances only) Gender: male Place of Birth: Alderaan Age: 23 Height: 6' 4'' Hair Color/Style: black Facial Appearance: face tattoos, as most Mirialan do Current Residence: Lehon (Rakata Prime) Allegiance: mostly for the Republic, however sometimes for neutral Profession: Studies ancient technology, the Rakata, and space beyond the known galaxy Armor/Clothes: Robes of a Jedi Primary Weapon: An Ancient lightsaber Secondary Weapon: A Rakata blade Biography: Born force sensitive he was taken to Coruscant, where he was trained as a consular. Then the war came and the Jedi Temple was destroyed and most thought he was as well. However he survived with a close friend, whom he then took to Tython. Later he left to study Mandalorian, Rakate technology, and the Star Forge, which he found most intriguing. He soon found the planet Lehon, and has stayed there ever since. He has been studying old techniques of the Force that the Rakata told him about. He has helped them rebuild parts of their temples. He also give information to the republic, though he has done it pretending to be other people so that they never find Lehon. He is very lonely however because he misses his friend, but he tries to forget by keeping on his studies. He hopes one day to find him when he has finished his study on Revan, the Star Forge, and Mandalorian culture.
  23. Yah, sorry to hear that. i wish more people would see that. Good job explaining it.
