I would disagree. Kreia's goal was to get rid of the Force but at the same time not killing everybody. That is why she loved the Exile, as she was just that. Not to mention, if she liked the idea of getting rid of the Force by killing everyone, it was just enough to let Nihilus feed himself on the galaxy, and then kill him, using the Exile. So while the Entity is clearly meant to be Kreia, it fits poorly with her character.

I was misunderstood. I used the connection only for the reason that stood behind both choices. That is, single military leader is better fit to make decisions during dire situations rather than political body like a senate which has to vote about every decision it makes. It was never my intention to imply that there was any other connection between Roman dictators and Revan's case. There were enough reasons. Revan was young and arrogant. He experienced horror of war firsthand, what made him disdain Jedi. He found Sith teachings during the war, that fit better with what he lived through. That is also his reason for attack. He was so full of himself that he believed he would be better hope for people of the Republic, than the Jedi, who (in Revan's opinion) abandoned Republic's citizens during Mandalorian Wars. That was what Obsidian gave us, a person with flaws, clever tactican, but young and arrogant. Bioware instead retconned him into a victim, making him more one dimensional than before.

He found out about them during the Mandalorian Wars by discovering ruins on Malachor V. The Jedi Civil War was out of his arrogance, as he wanted to replace the corrupted Republic with his own Empire, that he believed will be better suited to face the True Sith Empire threat. (reason for which in Ancient Rome you had dictators for times of war). His plans were however foiled by Malak, who wasn't aware of more complicated schemes, and who simply wanted to take over. All of this was however retconned by TOR and no longer is true...

It's sad to see what retcons do with this character. All because Drew cannot distance himself from Revan and want to absolve him from all his crimes... Malachor V was Revan's idea. The whole battle was designed for the highest possible death number from both sides. Exile didn't know this. Nor she knew Revan was on Malachor V before the battle. All because Revan has turned to the dark side already and wanted his conversion tool to break the Jedi and make them join him. Yes i say turned as opposite to fallen. Read, he was fully aware of what he was doing, instead Atris or Anakin Skywalker during the moment they changed their allegiance. But then we got the Revan novel, in which Revan did not know about the True Sith before the end of Mandalorian Wars(according to all previous sources he had that knowledge by that time). Not to mention Drew has written it in a way to switch blame from Revan to the Emperor. Before TOR Revan was this kind of Sidious-level evil. Now it can truly be said he has never fallen(the point of Kreia was that he turned, but Drew, like a lot of ppl, misunderstood Kreia's words) so it is like fanboy dream come true... The current version is, that Revan was brainwashed into being a Sith. The previous version from KotOR2 was that he has chosen to be a Sith as a result of what he experienced during the Mandalorian Wars. Also it is funny, that Drew claiming he knows Revan best, as his sole creator(forgetting that it was KotOR2 that really expanded on Revan's character) made Revan overpowered idiot. You ask why? For one thing he can vaporize ppl(something that even Sidious was not shown to be able to do to my knowledge) but he lacks any tactical sense. Quite strange for a person that was hailed as one of the best strategists in the whole Star Wars history. What is even funnier, Drew retconned himself here, because he was the one who made him capable general in the first place. Probably Drew had to write it fast, and did not think it through. (What i am getting at? ) So yes, it looks like Revan finally has become the overrated character people accused him of being. What is said of him doesn't match what we can read he does, not to mention the Mary Sue angle, that Drew only made bigger. Kind of sad, but profit is more important than story.

KotOR3 was scrapped by LA probably after they made a deal with Bioware about TOR. At least according to the information i was able to reach. By KotOR3 i mean their(LA) internal KotOR3 preproduction team. (A prove of that KotOR3 was in pre-production are the concept arts avaiable to find on the net). There is no indication that Bio worked on any K3 story before that deal. It seems they agreeded upon MMO seeing WoW success, bc Bio refused to do K2 bc they wanted to work on their own ip. Obsidian on the other hand said they would like to do K3, but LA never answered them having MMO in the works. (Not to mention it wouldn't fit with the direction SW started heading at that time) Also according to devs blog, Drew joined the writing of JK storyline near the end of the process. Also if you take a close look at Scourge dialogs you will see it was likely recorded before Revan novel was written, thus had to be written sooner than Revan novel was in writing. (And it probably wasn't that long seeing how rushed the novel feels). Also the implication that KotOR3 would deal with the events 300 after the second game is quite unlikely. They pushed the timeline only to have a place to incorporate game of mmo scope. Then released medicore novel to fill the gap. Also ppl prefer Revan as a Force Ghost, bc taking the lore into the account it would make more sense imo. The plot armour they created for Revan is really an example of bad writing. Their orginal intention was to let Revan die. They changed their mind only bc fanboys couldn't stand that some characters can die and should die.

The problem with TOR writing is that it lacks exposition. Only class quest, and world arcs to some degree let you delve more into the world, everything else pretty much comes to, say hello, get a quest, say bye. Maybe i am old, but i was raised on rpgs like BG2, KotOR and hell even Dragon Age, let you talk with npc outside of the quest lines if only to hear once again what they had to say. Here it is missing, and only comes down to "get the quest and get out of my sight". Also when it comes to class stories, i feel the quest are too far apart. In the middle of doing two class quests i have a dozen world arc quest to do. The tension is fading with time. Of course one can rush through it, but playing normally and doin' everything on one planet, and then moving on the the next, it feels like i have just said. Imo, if not for world arcs, class quest would take like 20-30 hours? Yet usually it takes 200 hours due to world arcs to finish class story and imo that is why intensity of the expierence suffers.

It sums up my whole issue with Revan in TOR. Now he is just exact copy of Skywalker. Even worse, bc Anakin had been only manipulated, nor brainwashed. Hopefully, Drew will not be given chance to write Revan early days. More skilled author should be given a chance. In fact it is a pity, Drew is leaving gaming industry. I really enjoyed his games, but only one of his books(first Bane). But of course it is only my opinion.

If not, then hey, it's only another great character lost to needless retcons. First Drew makes her a rouge Jedi(actually knowledge of Darth Traya's existence should be limited only to the Exile, but hey, who cares), then she is a bride of the Emperor. Now we only need to learn that Luke is Palpatine's son and Darth Vader never existed.

Please point to me when did i say, she had any problem with that Nihilus killed Jedi? Also she did care. That is why she killed those at the end. It frustrated her, that they were so stubborn and full of themselves, that she did to them, what was done to her and the Exile. Yet they were too weak to survive without the Force and that is why they died. Also you constantly mention that Kreia wanted to get rid of the Force, and yet you suggest that the best way to do this is to kill everyone in the Galaxy. It's like saying if we wanna have peace on Earth we should simply kill all her inhabitants. Kreia's goals were more philosophical in nature. Her revenge was not about killing those who did her wrong. It was about "breaking them". She wanted the Jedi to admit they were wrong. She wanted to break Sion. With Nihilus, his death was only option, bc he was more a beast than a man, not to mention the danger he presented. Of course they are different. Nihilus became so consumed by his hunger that nothing else mattered for him, over time he turned into sth like an animal, rather than human. Emperor on the other hand is very similiar to a character from Full Metal Alchemist. (I would say a copy but i don't know if any of the writers watch anime, so i will refrain). Yet they share some important similiarities. Leaving aside the obvious one, they both are consumed by a single goal to a point they cannot see anything else. To Nihilus only his hunger mattered. Emperor on the other hand is concerned with achieving immortality at expense of others. (I wonder if they will go with him, like they did with Full Metal Alchemist character. The FMA guy was just absorbing souls into himself and iirc i saw similiar mention in Revan novel concerning the Emperor.) Kreia wanted to kill the Force, so it would leave ppl alone, so they could make their own choices. (at least from her point of view). If Emperor succeeds, then: a) He will be the only being in the galaxy. b)He may give rise to a new civilization. But if you look at his portrayal in the Revan novel he is only concerned with having slaves. As you see, it makes little sense for Kreia to turn one overlord(the Force) for another (the Emperor). Not to mention the Emperor posses the same personality flaw that made Kreia despise Nihilus. It is hard for dead people to meet anyone;P But on a more serious note. Saying she has survived after death, she had to become Force spirit. In Star Wars canon until The Old Republic, there were two kinds of Force spirits.(i base this on official books i have). a) lightside Force spirit - mostly Jedi, spirits like Yoda, Anakin, and Kenobi at the end of Return of the Jedi. What makes them special, is that they can move around the galaxy freely. b)darksie Force spirit - those on the other hand are always anchored to a place where they died, or to certain object If they want to act freely they have to posses someone. Now the Entity is clearly darkside from what we can tell. I guess we all agree about that one;) Thus the lightside option cannot be considered. Yet if Kreia was to survive as a dark side spirit, she would have to stay at Malachor V. (it is not rule per say, but dark side spirits do not manifest far from the object they are anchored to in all known sources that comes to my mind). The problem with the Entity is that she is on Corellia. So for her to be Kreia, Bioware would have to ignore canon, or made her into another sort of being. (bc there is no mention of any object she is anchored to, and it seems she can move freely around the galaxy, except for Baras's spell) What is even more important, if you want to meet someone you need to know where to look. Kreia admits, she has no idea where to go to find Revan but she says that Revan went after True Sith(she even encourages the Exile to go and search for him). It is logical to assume that she is not lying at Trayus Core. After Exile beat her, it was a moment of truth for both of them. Drew wasted perfect opportuinity. If he used Malachor V in Revan novel, there wouldn't be a need for one more retcon. But hey, in Revan novel, Kreia, Sion and Nihilus are rouge Jedi...

It is true that Drew created the character. What troubles me, is that he is so full of himself, that he cannot see, that KotOR2 also contributed a lot of material about this character and imo fleshed him more than anything K1 did. (I am talking of course about Revan preKotOR, bc during KotOR player is Revan so it doesn't matter).

I must disagree. Here he was simply mad. During Mandalorian Wars, then you could call him a d*&k. He on purpose sacrificed lives of common soldiers, only so he could sway more Jedi to his side. But indeed they destroyed his myth. The Revan novel made Revan a victim of the Emperor. Before Revan novel, Revan was the only one to be hold responsible for all the attrocities he had made. Now, you can put some of that blame on the Emperor.

I am pro-Revan that is why i don't want him back. And hopefully Kreia won't appear in this game bc for 99% they won't get her right. It's enough with what they did with the Exile and Revan, there is no need to retcon one more character.

Before KotOR2 you wanted to say;). The bits we had in KotOR 2 where enough to hint at certain aspects of his personality, but still leaving space for development. TOR just gave post KotOR Revan a personality, but since Revan novel makes a point that Revan got all his memories back, it's strange that this new personality doesn't have any callbacks to the old one. True. If they killed him once, let him stay dead. Everything else just cheapens it.

They weren't. They just decided it was a better thing to sell this story as a book, so they could get more $$. As a result we got Revan novel, which feels rushed, and contradicts both previous games, but hey, they at least released a book about Revan...(what is funny for a book called Revan there isn't as much Revan in it as one could hope there would be) (Imo the book is not worth it. Better to borrow it from a library than pay for it. Though if you buy it, it always has a nice cover).

I play KotOR 1 and 2 to this day. However i don't believe that an appearance for appearance’s sake is worth it. If they are not going to do the justice to the character, they shouldn't bother at all. (Or maybe they should, afterall this way they got KotOR players too). And by doing justice to the character i don't mean giving him god level powers, though this is the only thing ppl seem to care about nowadays.

So you are saying that Kreia stopped Nihilus from consuming ppl only to leave them for the Emperor to consume, despite the fact that she was not even aware of his existence? (The only difference between Nihilus and Emperor's power is that Nihilus's one did not act as a bleach too) Kreia's goal was to free ppl from the Force. Not to kill them. Ppl belived that living without Force was not possible. The Exile proved it possible. Hence Kreia was fond of the Exile. (I am aware it may soon be retconned(if it wasn't already), but hey, the Star Wars Underworld(live tv series) may undo Darth Vader...)

It makes no sense for her to be Kreia when it comes to her personality. The Entity calls Emperor "my love". Seeing as Kreia despised Nihilus and Emperor is Nihilus on steroids it is completly out of character. Not to mention Kreia coudln't have possibly known about the Emperor's existence. (it was never hinted, and you can call her a liar, but in the Trayus Core i will argue she said no lies). If they really make it happen, and destroy her orginal agenda just to turn her into another Emperor's puppet it will only speak of how much they really care about KotOR2 or that KotOR2 plot was too complicated for them to follow...

To the orginal poster, While i share your sentiment towards both games i think that bringing Revan back is the worst possible thing they can do now. In my opinion including him in person in this game was a mistake. Though not as big one as the whole Revan novel that destroyed the character as we knew him. (Despite Drew's claims that he is Revan's creator, KotOR 2 expanded on KotOR when it comes to Revan history, and i would say fleshed him more than KotOR1 ever did. By that of course i mean his personality before the plot of KotOR). Not to mention how that book treated the Exile, poor woman. That is why i don't see why a "grand death" is needed. Killing 50 more Sith won't repair the damage already done. Not to mention Star Wars are not Pokemon. The worth of character is not measured by how many ppl he/she can kill before dying, at least for me. After all Revan's story should have ended with KotOR games, since there will never be a KotOR3, at least not in a way we have wanted it for so long, in TOR he should be able to rest in peace, instead of getting another dose of retcons.

Was it ever explained why the genocide was needed if Revan wanted to kill only Emperor so badly? I guess the madness angle is the only option? Also idk if it is fair to say he had fallen again. By Drew's retcon, first time doesn't count, bc Emperor did it... (As said in material previous to TOR Revan turned(not fell, but turned;P) to the dark side upon discovering Malachor V during the war. He found there Trayus Academy and learnt about the Empire and decided he needed quicker path. Then the whole battle of Malachor V took so many lives, bc Revan wanted it to as he needed to create wound in the Force to allow himself to win conversion war with Jedi. Also he was cleaning house there from unloyal Republic soldiers. It's all in KotOR 2, but Drew was probably being to lazy to play it... Anyway now it doesn't make sense bc per Revan novel, he didn't have any idea about Sith before beating Mandalore). When it comes to mastery of lightside and darkside, i guess they wanted to underline the fact he knows them both, not that he is Jedi or Sith.
