  1. I am a type 3 body Jedi Knight, and love it. However with 3 and I assume fatty 4, you will not be able to fit through some small gaps in the game. This affected gameplay the most when retrieving datacrons, as I had to group up and use different methods to get through the gaps that smaller body friends could walk right through. (charge them, or get pulled) I also believe it affects jumping a teeny bit, my large body cannot make a jump that smaller bodies can (the kind of exploit jump in huttball behind the thing that tosses you in the air)
  2. Wait to pvp? perhaps, make sure all your settings are as low as possible, occasionally after a patch they will be reset. At least this has happened to me. Your only option if you find the framerate bad would be to try and put yourself in positions away from the main fighting while still helping your team In civil war, go left, focus on defending turrets. In Huttball, try to stay in the middle, this will keep you away from things like the fire effects, and large groups trying to kill/defend the ball carrier, and controlling the middle is key to any huttball victory. In Voidstar, afk out and join another, there is really no way to avoid the mass melee's here and still be very useful. In general sentinels are one of the best healer killers and interrupters, if you spend more time attacking ranged classes, that should be a bit easier on the computer. Don't expect the game to become drastically easier on your machine any time soon however.
  3. I will continue screaming this every chance i get, the problem is the watchman spec. It is simply not viable in pvp unless you que with a healing/tank partner and/or have >cent gear. In pve there is no trouble keeping track of everything you need to in order to play watchman well. In pvp when the movement/stuns/snares/ are thrown in it is nearly impossible to play the spec with any kind of efficiency. If you feel buttoned to death and overwhelmed with resource management that yields little in the way of results. SPEC FOCUS. I have not been out damaged by any other mara or sentinel in three weeks, and can count the times that i have been on one hand even before i geared up. (the only knights or warriors that have out damaged me have been other focus specced single saber cousins) The damage rotation is half the number of buttons, allowing you to learn and use your other skills better. I have topped 600k in voidstar and do not yet have a single piece of BM gear. The most common argument against Focus spec "too much of the damage is worthless aoe" - hits for 5k are very rarely worthless - The single target damage is equal to that of other specs, the aoe is a bonus - aoe damage is more useful in this game, than say warcraft, because there are less aoe and HoT style heals to combat the damage. Watchman sucks for pvp, period.
  4. Like so many others on this board i used to believe that my sentinel sucked at just about everything and I admitted to wasting my time lvling one up and pvping up to rank 57. Over the last few weeks I have begun to realize how wrong I was, and had to reroll a different character to really appreciate what the sentinel brought to the table. I just wanted to list a few tips that aren't mentioned very often, and I have found supremely useful. First off FOCUS BUILD, FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS Many of the problems sentinels are experiencing, especially in pvp are because Watchman spec is too button heavy. Unless you run premades with a tank or a healer, Watchman will be nearly impossible to play until you get full champ gear. There are simply too many buttons to press to get your damage up, and while trying to do decent damage you will not be using the skills that really set us apart, and dying quickly. My watchman initial blast requires 8 hotkeys, Focus requires 4 (this includes rebuke/ and centering buffs) Focus's damage rotation is so simple you will become much better at using all the defensive cool downs that make us great, and it hits like a truck. With full champ gear 300k each match is not difficult, and I've maxed over 500k in voidstars. Other things that I believe are understated and absolutely terrific While in focus build use transcendence all the time. I get accused of using a speed hack because if transcendence hits 3 other people you get all the centering refunded and you can use it again, this keeps your centering maxed until you get into a nice cluster of enemies and pop Zen for the double slash hits. Hitting 2 people with slash for 1500 to 2k damage 6 times for no focus is quite a lot. Not to mention transcendence also increases you defense. Use LOS to your advantage. As melee you will quite often find yourself around the turrets in Civil War, or killing healers that are humping pillars in Voidstar. Use those objects to your advantage. Position objects between yourself and ranged enemies whenever possible. Force leap is a great defensive tool, when you find yourself surrounded by three melee, target a caster who is on the other side of the fight and leap over, not many people want to chase you across the battlefield. Finally learn ALL of your abilities. 1vs1 you can shut an opponent down for a long time, choke, pacify, guarded by the force, invis, not to mention obvious cool downs like rebuke (use this hotkey basically every time you leap) and saber ward. Padawans, Sentinels don't suck, they are in fact great. We are the hardest dps class to kill, and can put out damage close to the classes most would consider op, and have great utility (leaps, invis, sprint, aoe stun, pacify, channeled stun) Not exactly a professional how to post, was just really feeling the sentinel love, and there is not enough of this on the message board.
  5. I posted a very similar thread last week when I quit my sentinel and rerolled a guardian. Well I am back on the sentinel now. The guardian sweep hits about 20% harder in my experience, and if your constantly queuing up with a healer that you could also guard this would clearly be the better option. However, if your like me and play solo a lot then stick with the Sentinel. The extra survivability Sents get from their cool downs and invis makes them much better at objectives in war zones, I am always the last one alive. As for watchman spec, its terrible until you get gear, the spec requires too many skills to get the damage ramped up, I tell ALL new Sents in pvp to play focus, the damage rotation is easy and you can become more familiar with your other cooldowns. Once you get the gear watchman damage will equal focus, and add significantly more healing.
  6. I have played both specs at 50 and can say Focus is far superior in war zones. 1vs1 watchman has the clear advantage, but imo sentinels are the very best at guarding objectives because of our defensive cool downs and invis. This is going to put you in the middle of a group of people, where focus shines. As for focus not doing damage, your doing something wrong, i average 300k damage quing solo, and have topped out over 500k, watchman is the spec seriously lacking in damage. The only knight that beats my damage on the server is a focus Guardian who ques with a healer. I consider watchman a 1vs1 spec with nice interrupts, but believe Focus fits the role at which sentinel's excel at better, and produces more damage with less hotkeys
  7. Most of what I wanted to add has been said before, but I couldn't help but contribute because my experience was very similar. First off, watchman is almost a must have as a sentinel until you get Doc, this is because of the healing provided by the dot crits, it may not sound like much, but it really adds up especially when zen is activated. I would like to add though that watchman is nearly unplayable in war zones, so if you plan on pvping at 50 I would strongly recommend playing focus. Watchman is great 1vs1 damage and survivability but the spec requires too many skills to be used appropriately in anything besides small fights, you will get cc'd or pushed around before being able to use the skills required to get the damage ramped up. This may be more of a play style issue, but I find focus to be far superior than watchman in 50 war zones, i felt like i reduced the number of hotkeys i had to use at the start of a fight by half. One more note, in my experience the best way to do boss fights was to hold the aggro as long as possible, then when at about 20% life, invis to dump the boss over to my companion, by the time your companion dies your health will be up pretty high again, especially if your getting watchman heals and the heroic moment (or whatever its called, hour long cool down buff that must be used with active companion).
  8. Just to be clear, guardian's gear is definitely worse, I have full BM, am biochem so use adrenals/stims to get focus hit as big as possible. Basic question is, do Guardian's do more damage than Sentinel's in the same gear, in my experience it seems the answer is yes.
  9. I have played a sentinel up to valor rank 53 and am considering switching to my guardian, only lvl 20, full time for pvp. Why? Although I am typically the best sentinel in the war zone, (i have topped the 500k damage mark, and only very rarely am under 300k, majority of the time solo) I have recently noticed that a Guardian with less gear than me, can out damage me and get more medals. My max medal count has been 9, he has had 11, assuming i can get the same 9 as my sentinel did while playing a guardian that would put my possible max around 12 for the extra tanking ones. I love the focus build and for a variety of factors and consider it head and shoulders the best in war zones (I am not really interested in discussing this there are other threads for it.) Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that when I boil it down to the basics, what I'm losing by switching would be the invis, and the whole centering mechanic. What I gain - More armor, Shield, Armor reduction, Higher base str (due to talents) higher main hand damage (talents) The bottom line is the guardian sweep is hitting for 6k+ with less gear, while mine hits for 5k, and he can get tanking medals to boot. It seems the sentinel might be better dps for flash points due to the centering buffs, but i see no reason to sentinel over guardian in pvp.
  10. For those who keep defending the action. Quests are not garaunteed rewards, some are supposed to be challenging. I agree the current state of Ilum makes this much more challenging on some servers, but it gives the player no right to exploit. You are not supposed to recieve every reward just because you logged in and pick up the quest. I also completely agree that the Dev's feel neutered, and people blantantly cheat because they feel no action will be taken. Again thats why we need a focused call for a stronger stance on people who are exploiting. Another example, a player named Mikail has been joining warzones, moving out of start zone and afking, for 2 days straight, most of the games end prematurely because everyone quits when they see him. Unfortunately this makes joining a game without him a challenge, I have to join 3 games to get one that we have a fair chance of winning. He has been reported by many players and yet nothing has occured. This same player also did this for a few days weeks ago, also being reported, and here he is again. Some report that he has done this since release, perhaps even lvling up to 50 in this manner.
  11. Clearly cheating isn't the answer. I forgot to mention that they also were also sending people out to trade control of the zone, so that each side would receive maximum valor, we did what we could to help prevent this.
  12. For the record I did take screenshots, and report them. But I feel like a more global response is needed to help prevent this type of action. Vague responses do nothing, and that is all that has been given to this point. It's extra frustrating because world pvp was not broken on my server, it certainly wasn't great, but I was able to complete the weekly quest last week fairly as a republic player.
  13. Last night I was excited (as a republic player) to zone into Ilum and see that there were 31 allies in the zone. I figured I was in for a decent night of world pvp, which does occur on the server Shadow Hand, the emps usually only double our population. Unfortunately the ops group I joined only had 6 reps in the group, as it turns out we stumbled across the rest of our allies and what were they doing? Led by Krigare and Unbreakable, republic and empire ops groups were trading kills. Obviously this is frustrating to the extreme. During 45 minutes I was able to accumulate 8 kills, while this group was able to complete both their daily and weekly objectives. I find this completely unacceptable, and no it's not just jealousy becaues I wasn't included, I could have formed up with the reps and taken part. I just chose to play the game honestly. This is a call to action to Bioware, please come down on these types of players swiftly. Besides the obvious frustrations, most of those players were the very same ones who would normally make world pvp happen, now they have no reason to go to the zone for another week, thus making it harder on everyone else to complete their quests. This is such an easy exploit I am sure it is happening on other servers, and if it is, please post here, the more responses the better, as it helps draw attention to cheating players. I feel if something is not done, then all they will do is set up a weekly time to trade kills. -- Kanludar, 50 Sentinel, Shadow Hand I dont suck, it's the animation delay.
