  1. Thanks for rudely answering the question. So to actually step it out for people this is what they would need to do in order to ensure the name they want to change too. Step 1. Using a spare character slot find a name you like. Step 2. Log into your account and visit the MySWTOR section of the website Step 3. You will see Character Rename listed in the options on the left-hand side of the page. Select that option to initiate the name change request Step 4. You must then "Confirm" which character you are electing to rename. Step 5. You will need to open the in-game mail and right-click to accept the Name Change token. Step 6. Delete the name you have reserved Step 7. Click on the token to initiate the actual name change in-game So if you don't do steps 1 and 6 then its just blind hope if your name will be available? I don't even intend on using the feature, unless they bring in @handles. That way I wouldn't need to use ASCII or miss spelling my character names.
  2. They won't have the same name as me. But I will have the name I want. As done in GW2, NWO, CO, STO and others. Your @handle is hidden by default. Meaning that I could have the name Legolas@Tronc and you could have Legolas@Icebergy. In general chat yes it would look like there are two Legolas (Legolasi?) but in effect our names are our Character name and our Display name. This has the added benefit that no matter what toon I'm on my friends can always find me and chat. It also has the added benefit of people no longer hiding behind alts (on the same account) for the purposes of trolling. So I can see why some people might be against this. I think ripping a name off someone is a terrible idea. Even though they rip guild leader ownership if the leader is inactive for 4 weeks. Meaning if you go away for extended periods you have to trust that whoever you give leadership to, or it falls on, has the decency to give it back. So I guess it's not totally against there line of thought as stupid as that is. I haven't used my free name change. Nor do I need too. I am simply asking questions for clarification on this poor naming convention that this game uses. The point is if I/you/we/it use the name change feature and the name(s) I/you/we/it want are taken. Then does it just roll back to the previous name or does it use the token/CC? Umm we already do Branmakmuffin. By using your handle as part of the unique identifier (which it already is on the forums) you could have the name Legolas@Branmakmuffin and I to could have the name Legolas@Tronc. The only reason I see for people to want to stay anonymous is for enmity.
  3. All MMO's? Neverwinter, Champions Online, Star Trek Online (Same developer I know but still), Guild Wars 2, probably others that I haven't played. So no not ALL MMO's adopt this method of naming convention. The fact that they forced us to use our Display Name instead of emails hopefully means they are working on @handles, or some other form to allow players to have duplicate names on the server. Is there a reverse process or check process? What's the point of a my free name change. If the name I want is already taken. Also if I use my name change does the CC/credit what ever get used after it's confirmed? I would hate to use a free name change, or worse still pay for one with CC, to only find that the name I wanted is gone and I just wasted my CC. @handles and this whole name problem becomes a non-issue. Shouldn't launch a MMO without them in my opinion. Love being able to ignore entire accounts as well, priceless.
  4. All my names were taken after transferring. So once the move is completed I am prompted IMMEDIATELY to rename my characters, from the random generated name they got after the transfer . Kind of bummed about it. But it happens when you have such an idiotic/archaic naming convention. If only they implemented gamer handles like other games. Then hopefully one day I can get my name back.
  5. If only they instituted account handles. All this angst about name squatting, changes, and so on would just vanish. Hopefully they are heading that way. Would make sense seeing as how they changed the way log in works. But I feel your pain.
  6. As long as it's in your inventory (Bag or Cargo) it'll be fine. Just do a test one first if worried. Process was very quick.
  7. I think what his referring to was when they merged all the US servers. If your total used character slots was greater than 12 they still allowed them to move, but didn't make them playable until you freed up room. Meaning you had 16/12. Where now it stops at 12/12. But apparently even if your a subscriber with the additional 10 slots unlocked (12 sub + 10 Cartel.) It still won't allow you to move any more than 12.
  8. Agreed. 1. Two play-styles what a joke. The game is overtly designed against open world PvP. Only Voss do you actually ever really cross paths. Even on Tatooine you can pretty much not see a opposing faction player, only if you do the bonus zone. If you are doing the bonus zone your already well past the level recommendation of the planet. So to use this as your number one reason is a load of garbage. 2. This point is only valid if you agree that population is of greater value than ping. However you've just made PvP even less viable than what it was. So therefore decreasing your first statements validity even further about play styles. Guess all SWTOR will be shutting down than? But besides the trolling. You are most likely correct. This should have been his opening paragraph instead of leaving it as the white elephant. Instead we get these weak excuses. Guess I can finally un-subscribe. I was always going to pay for subscription to help maintain Oceanic servers. Won't be doing that any more.
  9. Same thing happened to me mate. After 2hours 40mins on the phone/hold to support, international call mind you. Restarting the game client fixed it for me. They claimed they didn't do any backend work to my account but after the restart it was all good again.
  10. INSURGENCE Insurgence originally formed in early December 2009 in anticipation for release. We participated in beta and originally called "The Swiftsure" our home. Once Oceanic servers were available we migrated to "Master Dar'Nala". We have seen the highs and lows of the game but still we solider on. With the introduction of Free-to-Play Insurgence is making a resurgence into Star Wars: The Old Republic. The majority of us work full time hours and have family commitments so we hope to appeal to that demographic. We have also branched out into other games, predominantly Guild Wars 2 but are looking into Elder Scrolls as well. We are most active between the hours of 7pm and 11pm (+10GMT) weekdays. We use our website to schedule events and help maximise our playing time. As well as get to know our guild members outside of the gaming context.
