  1. You're fine, it's mostly just a lot of me being the thread's designated elitist jerk. The fake illusion of choice about what to do you mention is a problem with the update, even my taste for being able to do whatever is something that I like more in theory than how it ended up in practice. You can play any way you want - but if you don't craft you better know someone who does. If you just want to do story get ready to play it a thousand times for any cxp at all. If you like running around and killing shiny things get ready for a nerf. If you like alts sucks to be you. I have too many alts because I got caught on the same situation you described of "I'm bored so I'll gear alts". That I can now just be bored and focus on gearing MORE one class instead of a sage dps I'll never play is an improvement for me. Buuut I tank on a class, I melee dps on another, heal on another and range dps on another. Meaning that right now I melee dps on one class and only go to any of the others if it's something I can get some bolster for... Consider too much tanking on the class I melee dps at and switch my ranged dps to also be my healer, since legacy got trashed and it's just better for me to have 1, at most 2 characters for everything (even though they kept the lockouts as they were). So it's best for me to not even choose what class I want to do what at very much, with playing 4 characters = never getting any command on any of them.
  2. If you read the entire conversation this quote is a part of you'll notice I didn't actually disagree with anything you just said. I actually agree with most of it. It's just not what the out of context quote was about at all. But yes to all of that.
  3. I didn't really attack you until you decided the most important thing to be discussed here was how seriously I personally take something. But who said what first aside, the datacrons comment was seriously not an attack, it's an honest suggestion. If you know someone who is being harmed by the lack of a little bit of mastery and endurance, tell them to get some, help them get some if you have to. They are pretty decent even if not just to make up for something else lacking - over all of them is what, some 200 stat points or 300 or whatever. More than you'd get by upgrading a 216 to a 230. I don't particularly believe people have to play it one way or another. One of my favorite things about this new system is that if someone wants to only do HM FPs or whatever forever they don't need to do a content they're not interested at in order to improve their gear for that, they can just do what they like. What I do think is that you shouldn't have to carry someone who doesn't give a damn they're being carried forever, and neither should I. Anything that makes it harder for someone to just lay back and let you do their part, give them their gear, make up for their numbers... Is an improvement to me, seriously. I don't like this new system because it's good, I like it because the old one sucks. The old one rewards being carried more than it does trying. New one does harm the people trying to do the best they possibly can, and it is ******** everyone has to regear with no new content for them to use the gear at, but it harms more the too common atitude of wanting to do raids but not wanting to stop being a deadweight. Seriously do not think everyone has to be perfect at any part of the game or even try to be, but if their "preferred playstyle" is doing nothing, maybe they should just do nothing outside of a group that is trying to kill stuff and don't die.
  4. Well, and you sound like the sort of DPS who got carried through some EV and KP when they were dropping 224s and can't match the tank's damage without the BiS, so. The solutions to gear not being given over "was present for an op" are there. Most of them are pretty simple. Some of them involve only ten seconds on the GTN. I do understand the complaints of people who were progressing something and now have to go back to getting the gear for it, but most of the whining is not about that at all, it's just "oh everything is so hard" when it's seriously not. Yes, the current system doesn't necessarily force people to learn their classes - but learning is now an easier upgrade to have instead of, you know, a healer who barely knows "green buttons heal people must press them" tagging along as some other healer effectively solo heals KP/EV and then having a full good looking set but not being able to heal a DF SM if the other healer wouldn't be able to solo it anyway.
  5. I'm actually pretty relaxed about it. Haven't been grinding much at all either, just doing what I would anyway and getting cxp out of it. It's just not hard to find alternatives to "can't do EV until I can just basic attack my way through everything anymore". They're there. Take them. If you can't be bothered to learn what procs what on your abilities just don't waste 7 players' time.
  6. Get some datacrons. Clean up your rotations better. Make sure everyone knows what they're doing.
  7. Gear gate, seriously. Put some crafted mods and enhancements, go play. If you can't clear something because of a couple 224 armorings on your gear you probably can't clear it anyway.
  8. So we're going back to an aspect of the worse system because people actually did manage to ***** enough that they will be able to go for lazyness over knowing more about the class than "which unassambled do I retrieve now that I got carried because SMs are hard"?
  9. Signed. Annoying her is too fun to last just for a planet.
