  1. I still don't see how cut scenes allow you to RPG more than any other game. Adding immersion? Hardly
  2. Of all the things that are good about this game. Wouldn't say this is one.
  3. Yeah this isn't the most enlightening of threads... Skyrim is a good example of a game which had over 250,000 people playing it on pc in the weeks following launch and now that number is significantly lower. This kind of statement can't be said for SWTOR yet. Way too soon to say this game as more active players.
  4. Would you not agree however that this story element you are enjoying is just a single player game? Nobody is actually saying they love the MMO side of this game, just the story.
  5. Again you are acting like TOR doesn't have all of the same grinding and meaningless looting as WoW. When you get to max level this is what you will be doing. The difference in TOR is that we have been told a little bit more about why we go and 'Kill X of Y'. You speak as if getting to the max level is a terrible problem and how people should enjoy levelling. One of the big problems with this is that levelling ultimately has an end, and that end is the max level. People want things to be doing with their character at that stage and TOR is completely ignoring that. This game is being enjoyed by many because of the story elements but that will end eventually and then people will start leaving. This is supposed to be an MMO and not a single player RPG. If it was single player I would happily take my time to play my classes story but I personally find that raiding and pvp is a lot more fun. That's just my personally view, nothing wrong with that. I'm not someone who just hoards loot, I just find the end game aspects of MMOs are more fun to actually play. I can get story through reading a book or film, gaming usually offers the lowest quality of story (as TOR has shown). Please don't kid yourself that this game is any better than WoW at max level. You will indeed end up doing exactly the same things. This game's only new feature is that levelling has been sugar coated with a lot of story to distract people from the droning grind. Finally you said I should take my time and get involved in the story of my character. I tried that, it got boring because all the quests were just so similar. The cut scenes have cheesy repetitive dialogue and I'm not going to waste what little free time I have being bored. (also late game quests wouldn't really need to attract people to do them, they would probably get enough takers but I doubt they would work as something people can actively do on their character)
  6. Not really the biggest issues and I wouldn't say your explanations really give good answers to the problem. Eg. No flying mounts You answered this one poorly. No flying mounts is to do with the scale of the game not be abused. They want people to go into a big city on a speeder and grasp the scale of it rather than just fly over it which totally ignores the art. It also prevents world pvp because people are never meeting each other.
  7. Firstly I think telling a story in a better way doesn't actually change the story itself. Sure you might enjoy it while your being told it, but many people love great stories because they stay with you where gameplay just fades away. TOR and WoW stories both do this, TOR just read their story out for you rather than make you actually read something. Secondly adding story should theoretically make the game better. If it has everything WoW has + story, you might say that makes it a better game. The problem is getting on a par with WoW in all of those other areas is going to be almost impossible when you are dedicating yourself to story as an MMO. It is also debatable whether the class line up in SWTOR is better than in WoW and hence how the overall pve/pvp experience is. People have been saying raiding in TOR is quite dull and basically just involves adds spawning at different times in boss fights. Finally adding in late game quests wouldn't really work because once you've done them, their gone. People would go through them faster than BioWare can make them which would result in people just getting bored. I'd also like to say I haven't for one moment implied this game CAN'T be competing with WoW if it changes things. What I'm saying is that adding in story isn't really making the gaming experience that much better and so TOR won't offer WoW players and other MMO players anything that revolutionary.
  8. Okay so unless I get a valid point I think I'm just gonna stop replying to you kid or troll or whatever you are. Firstly I don't think WoW is 'the best game in the world', care to quote that from an earlier post? Don't think so. Secondly I think saying a game isn't that MASSIVE because of the number of people allowed in a raid is a little bit ridiculous and I would suggest you read the definition of an MMORPG a bit more carefully. And finally how does raiding come into this at all? This game has raiding in it. And people are actually saying it's worse than WoW. The same old grind for gear. Again you totally ignore my post and just write a lode of garbage. Think before you post, really.
  9. Hmm a slightly confused post I would recommend you re-read. Saying your character in WoW has 'no voice' really doesn't make TOR any better just because you hear them reply to people in cut scenes. WoW does have story, this game has just read out that story for you rather than make you read it. TOR doesn't really have that much amazing story it's just telling the story in a way that's better. And for a billionth time, TOR has all the same raid and instance features that WoW has. This game is not some saviour that is banishing the grind for good, it's still there. Get to level 50 and then come tell me that this game isn't just the same old grind. But at least you'll get your quests after a little cut scene...
  10. Lol again you fail to make a single valid point. This game was marketed as a story driven MMO and I came here with expectations that there would be a good multilayer aspect to this game. The multilayer is cheap and dated. Don't kid yourself that this game is so great because it really isn't.
  11. /Agree A lot of people wont want to believe you but this is all true. The MMO side of this game is very dated and hasn't really added anything that you might expect in a a next gen MMO. I would say overall gameplay is this games weakest part, the story is good in parts but in others its a bit tacky and seems to be just a distraction from the grind ahead. I'm disappointed. There's tough times ahead for this MMO.
  12. This doesn't actually respond to my post? I know that this game has limited options, I've said that in previous posts many times. Think before you post.
  13. Hardly... I bought this game expecting it to be better than WoW. If I thought it was WoW I would have just played WoW wouldn't I? I expected this game would deliver in more ways than just putting cut scenes in as I quest. And do I really sound mad? I'm disappointed. Please think before you post.
  14. Hmm a somewhat obvious response. I would note that the whole point of this thread is to identity if by DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT really will work if that 'difference' is going to be adding more story. Given the amount of money put into this game I wouldn't say that BioWare has 'risked' anything, there's too much at stake. What they probably have done is just misread parts of the community. I'm sure story lovers will continue with this game for a long time but changes are needed if they hope to attract a wider audience.
  15. I'm personally just not that bothered with the story. When I bought it I listened to every cut scene and some of them were good. But after a while the quality just annoyed me and it felt like someone was just reading text from a WoW quest log. I wouldn't say people are ignorant or stupid for reaching the top level so fast. They just want to experience the top level stuff first, there's nothing wrong with that...
  16. That's assuming people who don't even read forums won't unsub? They have.
  17. Everything the OP has said is true. Don't lie to yourself and pretend these issues aren't a major problem with the game.
  18. Tell me how it doesn't? I can choose several areas to quest in when playing WoW. I could level a character up just in dungeons or battlegrounds if I wanted to. The class story element of this game ties people down into a VERY linear way of levelling up.
  19. For starters other MMOs have no problem decreasing the required xp per level because there are no class story lines for classes on WoW. Also I think you will find this is a very grindy game and a few cut scenes still won't change the 'Kill X of Y' set-up that has been in MMOs for years. Don't hail this game as being the game that finally gets rid of the grind because it really is still there.
