I admit that I miss it too. Although I didn't play for the entire 8 years straight, I was there in the beginning--before the NGE. I would take a break every once in a while but I always cae back. It was a new experience in the realm of MMO's. I miss the guilds, the players that were always eager to help the noobs. I miss the the ability to craft and decorate my houses--something that's missing from TOR. I was saddened to see it go.
