  1. No. I like to choose the Guild I want to be in. Not be forced into one simply because someone thinks I need one because I don't have a guild tag over my character's head. When it comes to Guilds, players are the ones who decide where they go.
  2. I have to agree with the community, the newest sets did look NOT-StarWars to me. Too many bells and whistles, like something dredged up out of a bad anime or something. I want my Imp agent to look like a part of the Imperial Military, and my sith to look ... well, Sithy. And a Jedi to resemble Obi-Wan or something like in Clone Wars. That's my idea of the franchise of characters anyway. I think the main problem is, BW is trying too hard. Remember what Master Yoda said; "There is no try, only do." Or maybe not trying enough ... Show BW what you think is what you want, with artwork - be it some fan-art or clippings from some media. obviously they made a mistake and don't know what they need to be doing. Show them what we want.
  3. I've been experiencing a lot of lag spikes too. But it's hard for me to tell if it's the game or my cable service. I moved recently and at my old apt I got nearly lag free service. In this new place I am getting lag spikes everywhere! I was reading up on causes and I am thinking the cable service might have "over-subscribed my area" here. It's a large complex of Condos and Apartments, and a large neighborhood of apts, condos, and whatnot. They over-subed the hubs for the demand. In my old apartment, it was a tiny complex, with only 10 units and the other residents mostly didn't use cable. so my service was clear. It sucks, but if it is a matter of the cable company over subscribing the neighborhood on their hubs/nodes, then I don't think there is anything I can do. And since I just bought this condo, I don't have the extra cash around to shell out for their "boosted" service.
  4. It's better than having a big, fat dragon sitting on top of you... Or Mammoth.. It may be annoying but in other games, it is far more worse.
  5. It is the same way in pretty much any MMO. And that goes for any MMO with or without a RL cash shop. You will find sometimes often mundane things for outrageous prices because there is always someone out there who might buy it. Think of, a Stock Market. If there is some demand for the item, then there will be someone selling it. Some ppl find this to be a fun part of the game for them, to play the market and see how much they can make or whatnot. And it really is just one more aspect of the game. The economies tend to vary among servers, and times of day or night. If your looking for bargains, don't buy the first thing you see. It might pop up again later for a cheaper price, sometimes at the AuctionHouse/Galactic Market players try to out bid each other. If your not a market player and looking to just sell your junk really quick, then try pricing your stuff on the lower end. The market players will probably snap it up - maybe even send you a flaming email about how you're a dumb nub and ruining "their" market. And then will re-post all stuff for much more inflated prices. lol, that's how it works ^.^
  6. General chat in the starting planets is usually the worst. My solution it to switch the tab to the combat log or something. That usually will turn it off. leaving the General Channel also helps turn off the stupid innane chatter off too. There really isn't much else that can be done about it. I don't know what it is about the internet, but ppl like to say things they normally couldn't, or wouldn't say if they where face to face. If happens in every game. Not just this one. But don't want to look at it ... turn it off and there can be silence again. At least in this game it is a little bit easier to turn off those channels. Does it make it right for them to have potty mouths all the time? No, probly not. But at least you won't have to listen to it if you turn the chat channel off.
  7. I recently re-subbed. I was around when the game was first released, officially. I have a "Founders" title for my characters. I took a break for a little bit but got tired of the other game and came back. And I am liking it and having fun. Nuf' said.
  8. I'm not sure I get "Pre-Orders". Consequently I usually don't do them, regardless of special digital trinkets thrown in or not. In this day and age where most games are starting to go to digital download, it's not like the game store down the street is going to be running out of copies. In fact - some game stores are not even stocking games now-a-days because of Digital Download. Which kind of kills themselves off .... but that's a whole different discussions. But it's not like ... "OMG! I have to Pre-Order something cause they are going to run out of copies!" But, if one really wants to do that pre-order stuff and get those things that is perfectly fine. You get some nifty things for your characters ingame to show off. It's not going to hurt anything really. I'm just saying, the whole "Pre-Ordering" concept is kind of silly. It dated back to really old times when games did come out in cardboard boxes and disks and sometimes a game was so popular the store did run out of copies. But in this day and age, it is not really necessary, it is just marketing. Oh and before the BW and EA haters jump on it and say "OMG they are so piggy" Blizzard does the exact same thing.
  9. I was bored with WoW. And I also wanted to play a game that was sci-fi based instead of your standard sword & sorcery, medieval ages type game. There are about a million of those type of games out there. Star Wars has a unique blend of fantasy and science fiction. I also adore the story telling element of this game. In this MMO my character is more of a character, not simply a utility. I get to play through a whole storyline, with choose-your-own-adventure type choices, which I find funner than - page of text I don't read - zip off to the next quest giver, more page of text I barely read - do next hub, fight ppl for quest resources, you get the picture. Also, people have actually been fairly nice and helpful in my travels. This never happens in WoW. In fact the random acts of kindness is such an alien concept to me I am shocked by it. In that other game they are either very mean to you, they steal your recources, and never talk or help you in the slightest at all, for anything. In this game - people have actually helped me with some difficult to get datacrons and some other stuff. I was like .... golly ... nice people ... who help ... they do exist. I'm not a new player to SWToR, I played when it launched, I have a Founder's Title. But took a little break for a bit, but returned and re-subbed. And I am liking it for the time being. So I'm just playing along, working on my characters, having fun, doing what a game is about - fun. and that's about it and why I play. And yes ... because it's Star Wars also. I've always been more of a Star Trek person. But I always love the Star Wars movies when they are on the TV and the Clone wars series when I find time to watch it.
  10. Tron was kind of cool. Those octopus aliens came straight from a off the wall movie called "Galaxy Quest". I was watching it a little while ago on TV. Thermian Galaxy Quest aliens We are starting to have all the movies in this game now. Heehee!
  11. They need to hire a person who has costume and fashion design experience (and sense). I'm always said this about some games, especially with MMOs. The player's avatar is an extension of themselves in the gameworld in that universe. So the gear that they wear on their "doll" needs to appropriately match the theme (more or less). Some players (like those that RP) or those enjoy the theme of the game more deeply than your average passing by game player spend a greater deal of more time and effort to make their avatars look like something in that universe. So the designers of the game that are in charge of the look of the gear should have enough artistic experience in the field of fashion design to make something cool to wear. It's not just pieces, it is something that people wear (in essence) so a designer with some kind of fashion design and /or costume design experience will do better than someone with none. Sometimes I don't think that these companies understand the value of who goes where and what function does he/she do. Simply having A artistic person sketching up some things really quick isn't enough, make sure that person has a skillset in costume and fashion. The background artist might be good, but does he know how to design clothes? Bioware needs to ask that question. Then maybe we won't have such hideous helmets. It is just a critique. Of course the atheistic is always up to the eyes of the beholder. What one person doesn't like the other person next to him might totally enjoy. So you never know.
  12. Yes - Keeping my sub and appreciating the 30 day perk. It's a refreshing change from the standard copy cat, sword and sorcery, orc/dragon vs human & elf MMOs out there. I like the storydriven path of the classes. Yes it is more of a soloist/single player type game. But the truth of it is, 80%+ of your time is spent soloing while you lvl and stuff. Your left to fend for yourself till you get to top level so, what does it matter? Even then, your pretty much left to yourself except for maybe raids or pvp. I like the Sci-fi and the theme. And I think the 1.2 patch was great. So I'm sticking with it. And I still hold a WoW account to, held that since 2006. Play what you like, not just what the lemmings think is "Popular".
  13. I'm a bit of an altaholic, but I always get at least 1 core character to top level just to have one. But that's just my playstyle. I have to say I was a bit surprised Bioware was giving out this deal. Even if it doesn't sit well with some players, those that did make at least 1 lvl 50 character, and have been playing for a long while appreciate the perk. So it's kind of a catch 22, please one group and make the others mad, or do nothing at all and put up with more complaining about "you don't love us!!". kind of rambling that you see.
  14. This is just a small suggestion, and one that probably RPers and players who enjoy engaging in story immersion. Yes there are those players out there, they just probably aren't as ... vocal ... as the other groups, shall we say. An addition of a "Character Bio" page to the ingame visible Character Sheet "Paper Doll" window. and somehow make is optionally visible to the outside game world - other players. This could be a Notepad type thing, with possibly a limited number of type (so ppl don't go too crazy and write extended novels.) Where a player can input a "Bio" about thier character, a storyline, or a description, something that could briefly tell any passer-by who would be interested to view it what their character is about. I played a game Matrix Online for a little while and it was one of the only ones that seemed to have this unique feature that I came across officially embededd into the game itself. There are some addons for World of Warcraft that RPers commonly like to get like "MyRolePlay" or "TotalRP" which allow these players to input more custom descriptions into their Character Tabs and other players WITH that or a similar addon can also view their input. It isn't a huge feature, and certainly doesn't affect gameplay all that much. Making it viewable upon option would probably be best as some ppl don't like to see it or don't give a rat's tail about it. I know Raiders and PvPers don't like or care about "fluff" like this stuff, they just want what will help them grab the latest gear or give biggest advantage. But since this game has such a strong focus on story, immersion, it would be nice to have the option to write a small Bio about my Character and Characters and maybe others could read it - if they wanted to. If not, then so what? Just don't forget about the RPers and the players that like to engage in the story play aspects of the game overall. We are not quite as adamant or demanding as the others, but we are here and we tend to like stuff like this.
  15. Blizzard released Beta "Mists of Pandaria" and everyone who had an opt-in with their Annual Pass is getting their keys to run Beta. That is probably where most players are going. They are only as loyal as the latest game that holds their addictions. This is the normal ebb and flow of the video game world and the era of MMOs. Once they have exhausted Mists they will jump back when 1.2 patch is released and then move on to whatever else gets on the market - Guild Wars 2 I hear. Play what you enjoy playing. Not what seems to be the latest fad. Fads just come and go like the wind.
  16. My Legacy Surname is: Dreamliner Because I work at Boeing where the 787's are made. Actually I work on the 747-8 line but I like the name of the signature plane. So there it is.
  17. Alright - Here's mine: From Blizzcon 2011 MY MAGIC DRESS I made it myself. I'll have to get to making some Star Wars costumes now.
  18. I'm with this person. It is simply because personally it is not worth the trouble half the time. And why does it need to be an expectation? Most guilds I have come across in my MMO days have been 1. Deserted Ghost towns 2. Everyone ignores each other 3. The top lvls are off doing their own thing and don't help or even speak to the others. 4. You are penalized for even speaking "Hello" in guild chat. 5. Somebody wants some shiney new gear or something for themself so their real intentions are not sincere when they want to group up. So - what is the point of guilds anyway? It seems this game offers some freedom to players who don't care for such groups and most ppl want to do it that way anyway. It doesn't need to be an expectation and a solo player running around doesn't need an invite from every stranger that they come across. I got real sick of that and turned on my auto-deny Guild Invite option for the longest time. That and WoW has taught me how to really despise and dis-trust ppl. I did however finally find a guild that seems ok. We'll see...
  19. Builder of Airplanes at a large commercial jet airline manufacturing factory, 747-8 line. (The USA company, not the European one.) I am also a Graphic Artist / Cartoon, animation illustrator on the side. Plays - on and RP server: Vrook Lamar, A Sith Juggernaut and a Jedi Knight
  20. If you want bittersweet, try being a girl and doing the romance option with Quinn. Then having to deal with the betrayal and then having him ask you to marry him later >.< ... Talk about double headache!
  21. Classic WoW was the same way. Back in 2006 Server Maintenance was almost as long and when a new patch was implemented, it was up and down for the first weeks after the patch at random and most inconvenient times. Since Blizzard has upgraded most of their servers and they have streamlined much of their processes, their maintenance has gotten more or less down to a fair minimum. I think we have gotten too used to the way Blizzard runs MMO process. It is not to say that it isn't annoying and Bioware and EA do need to work on cutting down the maintenance to an absolute minimum. Till then ... not much one can do but go outside and breathe some fresh air?
  22. I played WoW since 2006 and still hold my account. I'm not going to drop it, but I sure have not logged into it for a while now. I have to say I adore SWTOR, but I love both games equally. I even attended Blizzcon 2011 which was a super blast. Ppl try to compare the 2 games on an equal level but they fail to consider that they are 2 independent games. There are many similarities, like almost all MMOs share with each other. But each one will have it's own identity. One of Blizzard's core values is to set the stage and represent. They already know that they set the ground by which many MMOs are fashioned. But they appreciate it when something new comes along that will drive the market ahead and push new ground. In fact, many temp employees whom work on contract who go from game company to game company - as is the case in the industry share their "Tribal Knowladge" of what they learned from past experiences. So - in that all games learn and grow and both parties benefit. I really love this game and I am sticking with it. The storytelling is my favorite part and the characters (Companions) are great! But I'm not abandoning WoW nor putting it down negatively because it is what helped drive this game forth (Diablo II programming?) .
