  1. Neither one is better, they're different play styles. Pick the one you like. At 55 yes sorcs will almost always be top damage if they're good, but overall damage doesn't mean everything. I've been top damage on my sorc many games by running around and making sure everyone on the other team has affliction on them before actually picking out a value target to focus. Dot's are what makes sorcs and dot spec'd ops and snipers so easy to be top damage. Doesn't mean they actually helped the team out with what they did. I will say my marauder does die more than my sorc and jug, but he's also probably the most critical help to any team, as good marauders spell death to healers in wz's, as I know from my sorc heals, nothing worse than having a skilled marauder pounding on you when most of your team isn't helping you kite/peel... guess what they don't get heals lol. As far as positioning goes, that just comes with the territory of playing with pugs. Yes, in most pugs people ignore all sense of pvp and target whoever is closest to them, even if it's a tank spec'd player... So yes, if you're a marauder and you jump in first, prepare to die quickly lol. Let your team take a little agro first, in pug wz's it's almost like pve lol. If you actually face good pvp'ers in those warzones however, being a sorc is far from easy, as you WILL have at least one stealthy on your butt the entire game (if you're worth the effort anyways). So if you're lightning spec'd? Good luck getting one of those casts off with an op and an sin on your butt. What it all comes back to? Playstyle, pick the one you like and run with it. Or be like me and lvl up everything
  2. I would say that a new WZ isn't really needed as much as cross server ques. As ranked team play really needs a bigger population to play with than each individual server is able to provide currently. Really no server on any game has ever had the quantity of pvp players on it to provide a definitive pvp ranked experience; hence why WoW had battlegroups and now merged those. PvP players care more about PvP then they do about the scenario they play it in. That being said, huttball is basically my favorite pvp map I have ever played on any game. So much strategy involved and no one is left with nothing to do (sitting at a node for 30 minutes "defending" while everyone else has fun). So, if you must add a warzone instead of implementing cross-server ques, I like that earlier idea in this thread that someone had (forgive me I'm lazy and don't feel like scrolling through the pages of comments to find it to quote it) that involved each team having a giant robot that is attacking, at the end of say, 20 minutes, the robots meet in the middle and duke it out, whichever robot having sustained less damage being the victor. Each team must choose how they intend to split their forces to a)defend their robot b)damage the other teams robot. This would cause everyone to have a role and not leave anyone guarding a node. And pve'rs would feel good about their contributions if they can just attack the other robot while their pvp players defend them/attack other teams players. As the time limit gets closer to the end, so do the robots. Therefore, the more intense the pvp experience becomes as both "split" teams begin to merge into one massive battle royal. I like it. Strategy and PvP without leaving anyone bored.
  3. I'm a smash monkey. I've bought the lvl 55 conq's gear, but I prefer the power and surge I already have with my lvl 50 mods to the crit and surge I would get with the conq's gear. If I use just the armor mod from the conq's gear, and leave my lvl 50 mods and enhancements in, will that hurt me with bolster? As a smash monkey I get 100% crit almost all the time for my smashes. I don't want to stack crit. I like surge, 'cause it makes them crit harder. But why would you stack crit when you already get 100% free from talents? Back to the main question though, will it hurt me if I use my lower lvl mods and enhancements with my lvl 55 armor peices for the gear sets?
  4. In my long experience of playing classes that get focused in arenas, warlocks in wow (pre-pandas, I have no clue if they get focused anymore) now sorc heals in swtor, your job if you're the focus target is to delay them killing you for as long as possible. I know you want to do a lot of damage instead, everybody does. But if it takes them 30+ seconds to focus kill you, then your team should have won. No one can really give you the advice you need on how to kite over the forums, kiting is more of a learn when and what and how by experience. So find a place where you can duel people of all classes, and then just spam duels (preferrably against good pvp'ers, beating up on bads is almost as un-beneficial as ganking lowbies). Spam them and spam them and spam them. You will inevitably start getting better. If you want to practice getting focused by 3+ people, go to the tattooine area with some friends and have them focus you, yah they're going to hit eachother with their aoe's but you'll be the main target still.
  5. I agree they need to have separate ques just to get rid of the people who won't play arena ever if they get it and often leave teams 3v4 which is no fun for anyone involved. Back que often doesn't fill the spot in time, and even more often the people that fill the spot also leave because they don't like arenas either. Just make separate ques for them. However, on the matchmaking idea, I think that's stupid. If I want to que up with 3 healers and a tank I shouldn't be forced to face other 3 healers and a tank combo. If they did that in WoW's pvp it would kill arenas. Every comp has a chance to beat any other if they're good enough and use teamwork well enough. Granted if you have 3 healers or 4 healers it will be a much longer game, but the more skilled team will still win. If you're complaining about solo que not having coordination to do that, well the other team doesn't have coordination either, it's still who has the better/more of the better players who can recognize opportunities and take advantage. But back to the arena/wz discussion it really should be separate ques. Yes the really good arena players are generally the better pvp'ers because they have to recognize opportunities very quickly in order to succeed whereas an 8v8 wz is a little more forgiving when missing opportunities or making mistakes. That being said I do prefer the 8v8 wz's to arenas just because I prefer all the added complexities they bring to the table, especially huttball. Huttball could possibly be the most original and strategy involved wz/battleground I have ever seen on an mmo. Incredibly fun when you've got 2 teams that both know how to play it.
  6. So I recently hit 55 this week and have farmed out the basic lvl pvp gear in 4 days. I've been topping the charts in wz heals as a sorc but I've heard some people saying they've hit 2 mill heals before in a warzone. Is that possible? I know I'm not top geared yet but the closest I've gotten is 1.6 mill and I was beast/spam healing the entire match and wasn't being focused. So I'm just curious on what other people's top heals they've done in warzones before is. I know your heals depend on a variety of factors such as: whether you get focused, peels from your team, whether the other team focuses their targets well, whether you're more focusing on objectives rather than healing, whether the other team can even do enough damage to deserve your heals, etc. But I know everyone has had a warzone where the damage/peels have been just right and they've just said screw objectives and tried to spam heal and see what they could get. So what's your top?
