  1. Yes, I've not come across an untrustworthy crafter yet on my server. It would be very difficult to make any sensible gain if you tried to cheat people out of mats as they would surely spam their name all over general for doing so.
  2. Yeah it's not a great post. You don't do yourself any favours with the 'cons are whatever you don't like', thats kind of obvious.

Sounds like you're having a bad pvp experience and everything else is based on that. The teams that dominate in pvp are simply the ones that work together.

Things are balancing out more, in the early months, lots of people thought it was cool to be Imp and they had just a greater pool of players. Most people are dual faction now for variety.

The cartel market, it's exactly what you say, but thats the choice between subscribing and F2P, subs get free coins monthly so you can save up if you like an item.

  3. Most of the legacy perks with a level 1,2 and 3 are cumulative, so if it's 5% level 1 then level 2 would be a furthre 5% so total 10% and so on.

On the boots its reducing cooldown by 30s not to 30s.

I think the legacy is 'ship droid', note however, you don't have to buy this, if you group with someone who does have it, you can go on their ship and use their ship droid vendor.

  4. I'd agree with that.

Group Finder for Ops can take a while and as it sounds, will be random for the quality of player and their gear. If you are 50 and thinking about raiding, you really should consider a guild. The friendly social ones will probably accomodate a new run or be running them anyway.

Most properly organised guilds will expect voice software installed at the very least to listen to instructions, even if you don't speak, however, when you're a DPS, talking might not matter, if you're a tank, it's certainly a lot easier on some fights if they can speak to each other.

On timings, yep on a clean run not including people being talked through fights or tactics, 40 minutes sounds a bit right.

One good way to mitigate the inexperience is to watch a few youtube videos of runs people have put up. The floor falls away in Eternity Vault for example and it's much better to know when it's going to happen!

  5. I had the thought process of what is likely to be the rarest species and class when creating my main in December 2011, the answers I came up with were human/tech user. After rolling a human gunslinger, it certainly felt like I was right with the amount of glowstick wavers there were back then.

My toons are fairly standard, although I've got a Chis Vanguard.

  6. My advice is your mules are the wrong way around, while crafting isn't complicated, it's somewhat time consuming. So your mules should be gathering, your main doing the crafting.

That way all you're doing is relogging to collect mats, not relogging to collect an item, buy a schematic, reverse engineer and so on.

I'm an advocate of slicing lockboxes, crit results achieve gathering missions which can give you bumper volumes as well as purple mats depending on the skill.

  7. We've welcomed several new members since my last update :)

I've also replied to a couple of late night Ops thread, so for those interested in off-peak raids, we have 1 'late night' ops on a Friday that starts at 10pm GMT as we have a few members wanting to raid at that time. So while we don't want to change our core hours, we'd love to get a regular group going together so everyone can progress.

We have also made great progress on our raiding front, having completed Denova HM for the first time and progress on TFB HM 2/5. We're still interested in completing these regularly for all those in the guild who want to complete content.

  8. I'll just repeat what I added in the main server forum. Anla-shok (republic social guild) have a schedule which includes one raid at 10:30 GMT on Fridays.

Although it's something we have polled the membership over and not had a great deal of demand for, there are certainly a few members who are looking to get a later night group together..

  9. It's something we've had under debate for a while in Anla-Shok (advert and link in the guild recruitment area of this website).

We currently have one raid a week scheduled at 10:30pm GMT on Friday, on the basis we have a few members unable to raid at our normal times and sometimes those not working the next day will happily stay up.

It's not something we want to currently expand beyond that, although we're always open to change things if members show demand.

  10. It's funny about cybertech, I got it on my first character shortly after launch and everyone thought it was 2nd place behind Armstech in the most useless skill ever category.

I'm not high volume but I do like to produce an orange item replete with purples for levellers, I've found the least frustrating method is to slice at all levels so you get a good volume of guaranteed purple mats coming in.

I wouldn't get too hung up on orange items if crafting for yourself while levelling, over time it'll be quicker to RE a single piece than separate mods which can't all be coverered by a single skill anyway.

The other thing I've begun to consider for credits is those levels where a slot first becomes available, level 19 relics sell for more than higher level ones for example.

    Good post.

  11. Hi,

My ammo management for my vanguard DPS is very erratic. I generally open with - setting the target on fire, high impact bolt, strike, hopefully having a cancelled cd on the bolt again, then when I do something else, maybe plastique, I can be out already.

My gunslinger which I manage at a constant rate mostly being full through all but the longest fights, I would guess that plastique being top of the tree sucks up ammo and is probably one to keep off a standard rotation. but then if bolt and strike are both on cd, I feel like I'm just spamming the free attack, albeit with increased damage when the target is on fire.

What do others use or is it fairly normal to have these peaks and troughs of DPS on vanguards?

  12. I think it's partly about reputation and mostly about getting your lists out there, so having the guild webby, with things like the mats alongside, makes it easy to go to SoI.

I've got 6 50s, most of which need the items but also trying to learn them for myself for my own guild's benefit, but I'm happy to spread out my mats love if a) I know which character you are b) I know what you can make - or find it easily.

  13. The purple augment parts at grade 6 still sell well. It's hit and miss as with any gathering skill if you can crit enough to make up for the ones that don't.

Lockboxes are still a very good approach for low effort money making, when missions do come back they are sellable other than the investigation ones. If you're lucky to get a slicing one then you'll be guaranteed those purple mats above.

You can also use the same basis to support your new character, run lockboxes at the lower levels to get a mission they could run.

  14. Well it's a bit of a grind on the PvE side, theres a strong dependency on doing daily missions for commendations to improve gear, as well as repeatedly doing hard mode flashpoints or operations, but yes the social side with friends and a guild that fits you makes this better and enjoyable.
  15. Not sure the secrets are so secret, not that I really get the best out of my synthweaver.

Low level orange gear - especially belts and bracers.

    Low level purple gear

Lower level augments - very low supply of purple augments for levellers but they seem to like to buy them

Purple 21 augments - the stat difference between them and 22s is very small, theres a niche for buyers who have realised they can get 21s at a fraction of 22s

Synths probably need an alt supporting them with slicing and scavenging, that keeps your costs down.

  16. It's more a case of stay away from things in huge supply, people who gather for themselves look to dump their excess mats onto the GTN so typically subelectronic modules (the blue grade 6 slicing mats) are awash on the market, levelling mats are rarer because fewer people sell them, same goes for the biochem grade 6 mats.

I've found anything else sells well with some other exceptions like neutronium.

Treasure hunting crits are fairly low amongst the companions so I'd see a demand for the artifice mats, my advice is to be smart and use a strategy. Take slicing, slice continously, hopefully get a mission, either run the mission and sell the mats, or sell the mission- for example

  17. At least in Europe, our servers have been merged, so it doesn't matter, so pick based on language and PvE/Pvp Preference.

I'd favor commando/mercenary healers slightly more, you can free heal on the move which is useful and you've got strong single heals. For tanking, I prefer Shadow/Assassin as I just find it easier to keep the aggro. I wouldn't say theres much difference mechanically across any of them though.

For crafting, supply drives price, for blue UWT on my server, grade 1/2/3 sells for a higher price than grade 6, i guess because people are trying for purple grade 6 metals and have an over abundance. Once you have a good level of affection, slicing is good, you can sell the missions you get back and augment materials are always in demand. The 3rd one when I have 3 gathering is treasure hunting just for helping myself gear and relics sell well to lower levels.

  18. Hello,

It would be helpful to know if you plan to level and remain as DPS or tank spec. If you're a tank for example than consider you primary stat as endurance above strength (i.e. go for Guardian rather than Might Armoring).

For levelling, I don't even pay attention to the stats, if you're running around in mostly 'blue' gear near or at your level, you can do most PvE content without problems. I don't PvP but believe the same applies although the better your gear at your level, the better you'll be against anyone else and vice verse, e.g. a level 20 in 'purple' gear will generally speaking do better than a level 29 in blue.
