  1. ^ this I remember fighting one with my marauder, and saw my health go from 50% to DEAD in a heartbeat leaving me wondering what the fk just happened, even though combat log says I was defeated by 5k railshot. Totally underestimated his burst and I didn't pop any damage mitigating cooldowns. Since leveling one, I've learned a lot about how they do their damage and how to counter/survive that.
  2. yes, happened to me before, which resulted in half the team yelling at me. It actually cost us the game because we would've scored but ended up losing by a tie (other team had possession at end). I tried explaining in ops chat but most probably thought I was just making excuses for failing. Frustrating because it makes you look bad even though it's not your fault..
  3. this reminds me of a huttball game where we had 5 snipers, two PT's, and a merc and didn't come close to scoring but won the game 0-0. And I remember being in a sniper stacked voidstar. My first impression was, this could be fun. Turned out to be major fail since half of the other team were assassins and op's.
  4. There were always a large number of snipers in the 10-49 wz's, but fewer in 50's. I've noticed that 4+ months ago, while I was leveling my marauder. Most ppl mained a force user at the beginning and decided to create an op/sniper later on; probably for the crit buff more than anything else. Snipers do seem to be creating more buzz since the PTS was open, so we may see more being mained when 2.0 hits.
  5. That's the nature of stat inflation in expansions. Hell, I remember when 10k dps was considered ridiculous in WoW. Before quitting a few months ago, ppl were flirting with 200k dps.
  6. my only gripe is it's too easy to mistake a companion for the enemy player, especially when you're attacked and don't have much time to react.

    Republic on PoT5?

    ^this Imperials win in numbers, but the average republic team usually consist of higher quality players. Imps have a lot more recruit geared, FTP'ers, noobs, bads, that you have to group with. Also, the wz I have the most success against pub teams is AH. But they almost always dominate in Voidstar, for some reason.

    I just wish everyone can type in the number of ppl incoming if possible. I've lost count on the number of times someone says "inc snow/grass", and 6 on our team leaves mid wide open to lose, just to kill that one person on the other node.
  9. I'm on PoT5 as well and from what I've seen, heals usually get the most love. Marauders however, get very little. Doesn't matter how much damage and objectives I do, I rarely get any. But it doesn't bother me as long as we win. Yep, pubs on PoT5 usually dominate lowbie wz's. The majority of them always seem to be lvl 35+ while most imperial teams consist of lvl 10-20. Pubs seem better coordinated and more experienced, compared to many imps who are still new to this game.
  10. I play on PoT5 but I'm sure this applies anywhere, but faction quantity doesn't = quality. On my server imps outnumber pubs by a fair margin but that also means you're more likely to be grouped with noobs, FTP, badly geared players, while most pub teams consist of more experienced players on their alts. As far as winning % goes, it seems to alternate on certain days or weeks. Last week, I was winning most matches imperial side. Last night was brutal; pubs were decimating us wz after wz.
  11. This happens fairly often to me I love it. It usually comes after getting a few solo kills, because you know how pissed off ppl get when they lose a 1v1 fight; especially if they get blown up badly. I can recall a Voidstar game where we started on defense and I was wrecking the other team on the door. They never got past the first area. When it was our turn to go on offense, as soon as I dropped out of the spawn gates, at least 6 of them attacked me. While they were killing me, our team planted a bomb on the other side for the quick win.
  12. 2 for females, without a doubt. Wish there was a size between 2 and 3 for males. 2 is athletic, but still a bit small for me. And 3 is way too tall and bulky IMO.
  13. there's always been a large number of snipers/'slingers in lowbie wz's on PoT5 server but they taper off in 50 wz's. Not too many ppl main one atm, but who knows, maybe that will change later. They're also a very strong class at low level because they get abilities and multiple CCs early. They scale well with the bolster system as well, especially Marksman spec. At level 20+ with updated "blue" armorings and mods, I was getting 4.5-5k ambush crits; able to burst ppl from 100% to dead in seconds. I don't think any other class hits that hard at those levels.

  15. Reminds me of that quest in WoW where you had to kill 30 Ogres in Blades Edge Mountains, complete it, then get another quest asking you to kill 30 more. :/
  16. Being a solo player, I have yet to set foot in Ilum. Sounds interesting but something tells me solo players would get screwed.
  17. ^this Most likely a bug. I seriously doubt your server went dead that early. A simple leave queue then re-queue should suffice.
  18. What exactly are the changes to bolster in the lowbie wz's? I haven't exactly been keeping up to date on the PTS lately. pretty much this. I'd rather spend extra time melting faces at lvl 40-49 for 50 gear than getting raped in full recruit at lvl 50. Currently working on my 45 sniper now. I've been dropping ppl like flies since lvl 40 and probably pissed off a few. It also helps that my main has cybertech, which makes gearing alts a lot easier. As soon as I hit 50, I should be fully min/maxed WH geared. So even though I may frustrate some in the 10-49 bracket, try to think positively; I won't be that fresh lvl 50 with 14k hp that you don't want in your group.
  19. Agreed. I've always wondered why BW included that in the game. I guess I'm still too used to playing Wow, which didn't show for opposing players, even though that game has far more AOE abilities.
  20. ^this and that could present a problem since communication is key, especially among pugs. If you're on ignore, you wont be able to see them calling incs or give directions.
  21. 100% agreed. I'd honestly be happier if BW used this time to fix or redo the entire game engine instead of working on the expansion. I run everything at max settings but my comp still bogs in the fleet or where there's more than 20 ppl nearby. I know it's not my system (a very good one at that) if I can get over 60 FPS in GW2 with over 70 ppl in a WvWvW, or 200 FPS in a 25m WoW raid, 80 FPS in crowded Orgrimmar.
  22. I've been playing my rage mara for a couple months and has already gotten bored with it. Yes, the big damage numbers were fun at first. But the whole rotation feels too "clunky" for my liking. IMO the whole spec needs adjusting; not just the smash/sweep ability. Rage can be considered a one-trick-pony spec, where it depends too much on smash/sweep for damage. Nerfing that single ability w/o changing anything else will render the spec subpar in PVP; especially in 1v1 situations.
  23. Not gonna lie, I've quitted my fair number of times. I never "feel good" doing it. It's usually out of frustration, and takes a boiling point for me to do that, which can happen following a losing streak or seeing extremely poor/dumb play. An example is at the beginning of Civil War, I head to mid, only to realize EVERYONE else goes to cap snow. So of course, I get dropped in 2 seconds in mid so we lose both mid and grass. I immediately leave.

  25. Holy crap. And I thought I had the worst luck. I remember going 0 for 40-something and just gave up. But looks like you have me beat. I did think it was broken at the time. And who knows, it could be? Just like how wz queues sometimes won't pop up for some odd reason until you re-queue.
