  1. You can get a refund for pretty much ANY EA game, bought on origin within specific period of time (i don't remember exactly for how long). Even better you don't have to explain why you want a refund. I received refund for FIFA 15 bought by someone, who gained access to my account about 2 weeks age. They did not change password probably because they did not have access to email. It took about 2 working days to approve my refund request and additional 3-5 working days to actually receive money on my bank account. I am russian and live in Russia btw. Regarding connection between Origin and SWTOR. They are connected via the same login/password combination, BUT AFAIK they have separate payment methods system, meaning you can have credit card linked to SWTOR account and by the same time have NO payment methods linked to Origin account, thus making it impossible to buy anything in Origin. The flaw which made it possible for someone with access to Origin account to buy anything using previously linked CC is this: Origin does not ask for CVV2 (CVC) when you buy something nor does it use 3d secure system. Either of above mentioned precautions would make it impossible to buy anything in Origin for anyone except for card holder. So yes, hack or not hack, it is still EA's fault for allowing to make purchases with linked CC without additional verification. CVV2/CVC is an old but still sometimes usefull security check. P.S.: In US probably "business day" term is used instead of "working day"
  2. This. Exactly what Turbine did with DDO. They sell story driven quest packs, among other things. And guess what - DDO's f2p system is the most successful to date (out of games originally started as subscription based p2p). It was doing so good they even implemented it in LOTRO. Sure they never had WOW's millions, but they were profitable and still are afaik. They are profitable enough to produce new content on regular basis and even full scale paid expansions for LOTRO. Look at single player games - they are all about DLCs. People ARE willing to pay for content. And not only for another stupid grind, but for story driven content as well. Look at DLCs for ME3. Now, how narrow minded are you to say stories won't sell?
  3. Actually for me it's always shocking when people with such long single player RPG experience complain about: "- Ops and flashpoints can be cleared too easily and gearing from it goes too easily as well. Scale up the difficulty and decreae the drop chances. This will keep PvE players working for a longer time and give you more time to design new content." "- Bring out more new Flashpoints and Operations. There's simply not enough of them (especially the amount of flashpoints at 55 compared to the amount of Operations). I'm not talking about the recycled ones either. They need to be brand new like the Zerga ones." "- daily quests and commendations are useless because hardmode flashpoints are easy enough that you can do it without needing the gear." Like it or not, believe it or not, but a vast majority of people who left this game are the ones who wanted KOTOR 3, not "another mmo" crap. They finished story content, did every flashpoint 1-2 times and left as they had nothing else to do. Making this game more MMO-alike (mmo = more mindless grind, more group content to RUSH) will not bring them back. And PVPers, being an obvious minority, will never be happy about pretty much anything. They usually complain about every part of a game, in any game. Even in (Grief) Eve Online they are not entirely happy.
  4. The only real solution is FIRING this security guy and hiring someone who actually knows how internet works in modern days. Assuming that most users have personal STATIC IP address is plain stupid. Vast majority access internet with dynamic public IP or from behind the NAT (hundreds of people with the same IP). In both cases it is impossible to ID user. Second case most likely will not trigger OTP crap as NAT usually have static public IP. BW is the only company stupid enough to force IP checks. Other companies have this feature as an option, because for most users it is useless.
  5. Dynamic IPs have nothing to do with security. The reason for giving dynamic IPs in domestic (or home - whatever is correct in english) internet service is to supply people with true public IP with a limited IP pool. IP pool is always limited. There are 2 main ways to deal with it: NAT and dynamic IP. 1. NAT People behinde the NAT have private IP and public IP. Public IP in this case is NAT's IP. From outside (from extranet) it looks like a lot of different people have the same IP. 2. dynamic IP is in most cased true public IP, but it changes every session. That method is very popular in a world outside NA. I'm not sure about US/CA region, but in other countries dynamic IPs are very common. That is why putting security of an online game in dependency of IP is just plain stupid. I don't know any other game that forces people with dynamic IP to answer question, enter code etc. Some companies have such option, but it is an OPTION. BW is just clueless. They must be thinking it's some sort of corporate network or whatever... That is why IP bans are pretty much non existent in modent internet. - it's useless - people with dynamic IP will get another in a minute or 2. But people behinde the NAT will suffer, all for 1 jerk.
  6. Actually, for some people single player RPGs are the TRUE RPG games, while MMOs are mindless grindfest. "continuous PLAYABILITY" = same grind and it has nothing to do with RPG. RPG is not just combat oriented stuff, but story and character development. And by development i mean not stupid gear grind, but more like non linear stats and/or abilities progression. Most MMOs are SOO linear in charachter development... the only thing that matters is gear in MMOs. So-called talent trees and alternative advancement systems (like the one in EQ2) are so shallow compared to many single player games. Story is virtually non existent in MMOs except for DDO, STO and maybe LOTRO and WoW (very generic compared to DDO). Considering all above, SWTOR is the closest thing to RPG among all MMOs. It still is inferior to single player RPGs in terms on story - being an MMO prevents from creating really deep storyline with twists. All 8 stories here should be merged in 2 - for Republic and for Empire. In short - go play KOTOR 1 and 2 to see what TRUE RPG is. Then play Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age Origins. Even DA 2 is a better RPG than any MMO out there. I know, it's a shocker for MMO crowd, but playing a good RPG is like reading a book.
  7. Another talk show in PUGs - that is exactly what this game need. If implemented, VOIP will make every single PUG on US servers in a f*g group counciling session - been there in DDO US at launch. What's funny - in DDO EU pretty much no one used VOIP in low level dungeons. Not sure why, but EU people mostly remained silent with occasional typing in chat.
  8. It's all part of usual crappy MMO game design ideology. In MMO complexity of THE task is measured in time required to complete said task. The stupidity and simplicity of process doesn't matter. What matter's is how long it takes to complete task. Many cycles of the same SIMPLE subtask, running for... 15-30 minutes from point A to point B - yeah that's your average moo "EPIC" quest. Epic stupidity - that's what it is, but a lot of "worker ants" (aka moo players) enjoy tedious grind - so it's epic in their minds. In a last 5-8 years mmos tried to move away from grind, but IMO was mostly unsuccessful. They are still full of stupid grindy tasks. At the time of release SWTOR had the least grindy elements in gameplay that any other mmo out there, except for DDO. DDO was bashed by average mmo players for not being an ultimate time sink all the time... P.S.: EQ2's Prismatic is the same stupid EPIC crap as any other in mmo. More timesink - yeah, EPIC.
  9. ". If language is not known first how would you know if it's offensive ..." - so why anyone should bother with offensiveness of unknown language? If you don't understand it, then you can't be offended. If you presume offense in anything you don't understand by default... it's your problem. Seeing bad in people by default will get you a labeled as "jerk" or "hypocritical jerk" or something worse. As far as i remember somewhere on this boards BW stated that using non english language in general is NOT against the rules. It was noticed by someone that native english speakers are usually the least offended by non english language in general chat. Go figure... P.S.: Вот интересно, удалят ли этот пост из-за "jerk" или из-за русского языка в английском форуме? Кстати, презумпция виновности характерна для менталитета моих соотечественников.
  10. Your definition of life an death is irrelevant. People logged on a game server have nothing to do with neurons in brain. So your analogy with life support (for brain dead) is stupid. A single player logged on means game is not dead. Quality is subjective. What most so-called "mmo players" consider quality i consider generic repetitive gameplay.
  11. Horizons (now it's called Istaria), Vanguard, Anarchy Online, DCU, STO are very much alive. Maybe for you and other mmorpgDOTcom type haters they are dead, but they are alive and some people enjoy them. P.S.: I did mentioned mmorpgDOTcom because for me their forum posters are "ultimate hater" models - bashing enyshing an everything in sight. Your hating style looks similar...
  12. Star Wars and logic? Really? SW was never about logic or science. SW is and always was space fantasy fiction. Key word here is fantasy. For logic and science you have to look at Babylon 5 and Star Trek. They have some flaws and inconsistencies, but overall are the most logical sci-fi universes to date.
  13. Trion must be just unprofessional, because we know, REAL professionals screw their customers over and over again while hiding behind lame excuses.
