  1. OP: Some very good suggestions. I particularly like this one:

    ...

    What we need :

    ...

    * A secondary legacy storage system where all mats go straight into as you collect them (Gw2 has this). These mats would just get stacked as they are collected and there wouldn’t be a limit on how many.

    ...

Even just increasing the resource materials stack limit from 4 digits to 5+ digits would help considerably, albeit your idea would be ideal though.

  2. Devs,

To get the most functionality and a fully robust preview window, I suggest adding dye slots to each of the 7 armor slots.

The new preview window shows that mainhand and offhand weapon slots each have their own color crystal and weapon tuning slots below the weapon slot. I suggest doing something similar to the armor slots by adding a dye slot to each as well.

Many times individual pieces of armor need to be dyed differently than the chest (sometimes simply inverted colors) to get the right look.

    Example: chest = x/y dye, gloves = y/x dye.

If the new preview window only has 1 dye slot, it will most likely retain the same limitations of the old one by unifying colors and the inflexibility of just one dye module color layout. Giving us full control of colors per individual armor piece will make the new preview window a much more powerful tool.

    Thank you.

  3. The new preview window looks excellent for the examples shown. Will the rebuilt version extend to decorations & their sounds? That's not clear from the write-up. It's very frustrating to buy a decoration because it looks good & will suit your stronghold theme, only to find the bought decoration makes a terrible noise & gas to be ditched (I'm looking at you Throne of the Sith Emperor). Not all decorations appear on ToR/youtube to be checked out before they are bought. Many of my hard earned credits and CCs have been wasted on noisy decorations so being able to preview noise as well as looks would be great.

I've not had chance to download the PTS so haven't been able to check this myself.

It would also be great if decorations that emitted sound would have a DYN object bit added to them that could be clicked on that give the option to adjust sound radius / volume / mute. Lights could have DYNs to control/give options for light color and intensity.

  4. Actually there is only one Chiss in this bundle according to the decorations preview.

The Sith Intelligence Cipher is a human (or cyborg) male, the Watcher is a human female ...

I checked up on this to see if maybe I missed something or was mistaken or whatnot, but alas it was still ambiguous UNTIL I switched characters. Logged on with that other character, the preview window confirmed what Cawyden wrote, that they were indeed Human. Switching back to the original character and the preview reverted back to showing Chiss-like people. Strange!

With that new information, the bundle doesn't seem to be as heavily seeded with aliens as I originally thought.

After seeing the correct complexion for the Sith Intelligence Cipher in the preview window, I happened to notice that the character model is identical to the "Imperial Agents" scattered around inside the Imperial base of the Black Hole daily area on Corellia. This got me thinking that all the NPCs there would make excellent choices for an Imperial Personnel Bundle and would include: "Imperial Agent" (body type 3 Human male), "Imperial Officer" (body type 3 Human male), "Imperial Soldier" (body type 2 male), and "Imperial Engineer" (body type 2 Human male).

I would be most pleased to be able to acquire all 4 of these Imperial NPCs as stronghold personnel decorations!

  5. The unreleased cartel market item "Imperial Personnel Bundle" as it currently sits is in very near danger of gross false advertising!

A more appropriate name would be: "Imperial Alien Freaks Bundle".

    So far we have:

    1. Zabrak "Imperial General" - Who appears (due to the small scale of the preview window) to not be wearing a proper uniform jacket of a general.

    2. Kaleesh "Imperial Vanguard" - Whose bone faced mug is hilarious, as is the clipping of his tusks into his chest!

    3. Rattataki "Imperial Pilot (Female)" - Yeah, because what could possibly go wrong letting psychopaths like them get their hands on top-grade military starfighters?!

    4. Chiss "Sith Intelligence Keeper" - Hey, I love Chiss as much as the next fan, but really, the HEAD of Intelligence???

(the preview window is too small to make positive species IDs on the remaining two circus attractions, but here's my best {or is it WORST?} assessment)

    5. Chiss "Sith Intelligence Watcher" - Yes, it does make me a bit uneasy having her big, glowing red eyes burning into me as she watches.

    6. Chiss "Sith Intelligence Cipher" - Yes, I know he's a cipher, but I still can't understand a single word he's saying. "It's all Cheunh to me."

Variety and having multiple options is always best, but please BioWare, if you have to open the floodgates to release the alien invasion, please do so as a secondary bundle titled: "Imperial Personnel Bundle (Alien)". Give us a proper Human bundle first.

Let us enjoy our Human High Culture now, I cant wait millennia for Palpatine to save us!

  6. It's a shame, because there are so many cool looking pieces of gear in the game that are only white/green gear and as such are just vendor trash. Then for orange gear we get monstrosities like this.

I wish they would add to Synthweavers/Armourmechs the ability to add armouring/mod/enhancement slots to any piece of gear like we can add augment slots now. It would bring tons of refreshing new looks into the game, give people real choice in what they wear, and inject something new for crafters to do.

The reason we will never see this? It would dent their revenue stream that the CM junk generates because people wouldn't be so desperate to throw their cartel coins at random bags on the chance of getting some armour that didn't suck.

    :(

I agree 1000% with this post.

  7. While I agree that some more "classic" jedi style gear would be nice to have as options.. it's not worth a meltdown over it. I'm sure they will come with time.... like many other things long desired in the game. Personally, if I like something I equip it, if I don't it gets ignored. And NO.. I do not like the shoulder pads.. they are hideous.. so they will be on my ignore list. It's not like you are getting dressed for an interview in real life.

If they gave you everything now. you would be bored in 3 months.. and that includes outfits. They want to tease the players with new outfits over time.. not give all the iconic classics up front IMO. That's not excusing what they do, it's recognizing what they do.

    Translation:

  8. Anyone seen this yet? I mean, boo for not using our own ships, but huzzah for everything else!

    http://www.swtor-spy.com/blog/1363/swtor-super-secret-space-project-part-2/

The mined images from that swtor-spy link give me a modicum of hope about the SSSP!

If the SSSP is patterned like War Thunder (and similar titles) I think it would add a huge new aspect of gameplay to SW:TOR. It would be even better if instead of just instanced matches (my speculation), that there could be some persistent results that would shape the in-game universe somehow. Give us something to fight for, other than just short-lived mini-matches that have no impact other than commendations, XP, or gear advancement.

  9. Free market: put an article on the market. Price it accordingly to what the market will bear.

A definition of Free Market: A condition that allows sellers to sell, and buyers to buy without restriction. Pretty simple really. The problem with that though, is that lobbying, inside deals, monopolies and other perversions try to gain an unfair advantage by limiting or outright thwarting of other competition. Cartels are a form of monopoly. The "Free" in Free Market refers to a lack of restriction or corrupt regulation that would hinder seller's and buyer's FREE ability to partake in said transactions.

Notice how that mostly relates to SELLING, nobody ever talks about a buying monopoly. The selling side is where there needs to be free opportunities for businesses to enter the marketplace and act as competition to existing vendors. If competition is essentially stifled, then the free market system is no longer in effect.

In the case of the SW:TOR Cartel Market, there are no competitors at all, it is a total monopoly. Thus, it is not a free market, the exact opposite in fact.

If people want to spend 2k CCs on a dye it is nobody's business but their own. Those whining need to get a better job or start saving some ingame credits if they want it.

Cartel items are cosmetic only and thus don't create any imbalance between players. They also fund future development for the game.

Tldr: stop whining. The Cartel Market funds this game.

Oh yeah, that lame-duck argument again! I guess all the profits piling in from the Cartel Market are giving us such great in-game content as the new hideous Obroan armor, all nearly identical but all equally disgusting! Cookie-cutter copies and only slight variations to distinguish between factions. WONDERFUL "future development" LOL!

Future really is the correct word though, because it's certainly not right now, and I suspect not any time soon neither. It will forever be out there as a vague (however unlikely) possibility of a "future" addition that is worthy of any merit.

  10. First off motives for my post is not just about having more people for new operations, it's about highlighting the fact the public test server isn't serving it's purpose as a whole with such a low population for all content and I'm just wondering where is everybody? This is meant to be a AAA game is it not yet I've seen bigger pops on test servers for small indie games, this is unacceptable especially on a quite large patch with such a variety on content and I just want to know why?

-Laendser: AAA game: B+ for effort, D- for execution.

As for my language, I think "lazy" might sound harsh but it was a correct term. To put it in a more politically correct format the installation/signup process for the PTS is "not simple enough for some people to have the motivation to complete". I'm not knocking people who can't be bothered to go through the process and I agree it should be simplified but it is a tad lazy if some can't be bothered to transfer an alt and spend an hour or two downloading the client, it's not going to kill them.

-Laendser: Lazy? No. Can't be arsed? Yes.

As for thinking people shouldn't be entitled to something/get paid to publicly test... they shouldn't. You'd think people would get all hyped up about trying new content and revel in it like it's Christmas come early but most seem to dismiss it like it's some nasty disease and demand handouts like it's the job centre. People should be motivated to try out new content purely for the fun of trying new stuff itself not on any titles or trinkets bioware might or might not give out. To me there seems no enthusiasm to try out something new... are the two new operations, new daily planet and PvP arenas really not worth spitting on?

-Laendser: People should get all hyped up like it's Xmas early, lol? No. Most people realize that the new content will be underwhelming so might as well just slog on in live and deal with the mess when it hits live later. The test content is like reruns of The Andy Griffith Show, not exactly something to get all excited about.

As for progression I didn't really touch on this (although I seem to have hit a raw nerve somewhere with the addled git response I got), but lets use what you said for example. A lot of guilds seem to hold off PTS testing due to the fact it might actually discredit them from getting ranked on a spreadsheet if they cleared the op before it went live (despite the contrary to what you said about world firsts, I suspect this is what your guild is doing). To me this whole world first malarkey does put a noose around the PTS populations neck in a way, with guilds wanting to get their first kill legitimately on a bug free/balanced boss on live and not get called out because they've downed a PTS version beforehand.

-Laendser: Sorry, I've been done with high school drama for a long time now, not interested.

Some even argue why operations should be on the PTS in the first place but my case that is just take a look how the second boss of dread fortress was last week, imagine if it was released on live servers in that state I bet your guild wont just be bug reporting but threatening to quit the game in a massive forum rage!!! This is why it is important to test not only operations but all content publicly as it seems biowares internal QA don't know their heads from their backsides. While not everything fed back will probably get fixed I do feel it's important to have many people on the PTS as the last line of defence mentioning possible game breaking stuff before it hits live, however with the current pop that's a bit bleak.

    -Laendser: Well said.

    See quote above for comments.

  11. After much consideration on the topic at hand, I think I have the only acceptable solution:

All player craftable dye module schematics and all in-game vendor offered dye modules should be removed from the game. All dye modules should be only available for purchase from the Cartel Market with the following price schedule:

Black/Deep Blue, Deep Blue/Black - 4000 Cartel Coins (obsessive players need not apply, that, or fork it over!)

    White/Orange, Orange/White - 3000 Cartel Coins

    Any_Color_Except_Orange/White - 2000 Cartel Coins

All other color combinations - 1000 Cartel Coins

    Win/Win for everyone!

  12. ...

Thing is...the people that are so worked up about this, the same people that fail to even casually assess and realize that the current prices for B/B and W/W dyes just took a heavy nerf by this ... they really really really don't like to be told that they are in no way forced to buy them and to just not buy them. I'm not sure why.. but they clearly feel offended by logic.

    ...

What you well know but won't ever talk about is that many people just might be getting upset because there is no in-game way, outside of CM and GTN means, to acquire certain artificially scarce dyes.

This is a game. People pay a subscription to access and participate in said game. The constant nickle and dimeing by EA/BioWare to things that many other games provide as due part of the subscription is what makes me upset, I image others as well.

For the love of Palpatine, is it so hard to give players in-game content, without trying to monetize everything? If not, then the ruse of subscriptions should be removed completely, and the rotten game in all decency should go freemium only, so we know what we're getting into.

  13. Your point by the way invalidates it as a greed move by the company. The greed move by a corporation is to always soak the consumer base for maximum dollars while causing minimum distress. You described the perfect greed based move... sell to the masses.. sell often....sell cheap.. count your profits.

The point you are overlooking is that one of the elements of the CM content (like all MMO content) is the absolute "rarity" of some content. Players like it when some content is very rare and exclusive in nature, or very expensive in time/credit/shop_tokens. This change to direct sell of B/B and W/W should be offensive to people who prefer things be rare to the point of epeen worthy bragfest preening in Fleet. With this change.. B/B and W/W just lost that niche with the players. Yet I don't see the epeen flexers complaining about it... yet.

That's because they are so few in numbers as to be insignificant.

    Do try again.

  14. Wow, look, it's Jump to Lightspeed 10 years after Jump to Lightspeed.

    If we're lucky.

    Don't hold your breath.

JTL had engine Y,P,R, engine speed, weapon refire rate, weapon effectiveness against armor and shields, booster speed & recharge rate, mass, and MANY other stats that made parts potentially quite unique and special.

CRAFTERS WERE ESSENTIAL TO THE SUCCESS OF JTL.

BioWare produces nothing unique. All parts will be identical cookie cutter copies of one another.

Not to mention JTL had POBs, gunships with multiple turrets, npc capitol ships, and the overall physics of the flight model. Quite the tall order for LOLThemeparkBioWareEA.

    I'll pass.

BTW, I want my Tie Advanced, Tie Aggressor, and Tie Oppressor back. Oh, and my Decimator and Ye-4 too.

Will anyone ever remember the LOLviewfromrearonly SW:ToR ships in 10 years time?
