  1. Yeah i can tell you the game will be optimized and will run more smoothly and at higher fps in the future. But if you are expecting to get 60 plus FPS in fleet on a 5770 that will never happen at max settings at 1080p.
  2. There could be 100,000 people posting and it would still be five percent. 2 million times .05 is equal to 100,000. Do you see 100 thousand posts? even with 100,000 posts it would be a vocal minority. That being said the game needs further optimization and will receive just that.
  3. http://www.anandtech.com/show/5251/microsoft-releases-hotfix-to-improve-bulldozer-performance What are you talking about, the scheduler has everything to do with multicore performance? Microsoft's fix improved bulldozer performance by 2-7 percent.
  4. 2 million boxes sold, and he said 5 percent have issues... Thats in the article and on this stite everywhere 5 percent of 2 million is 100 thousand. As for one fifth, its just a small minority fraction. I could have chosen anything less than 1/2. Its really just a guess. regardless the pool is quite large. At a maximum 49999 high end computers could be experiencing problems.
  5. dont get me wrong, the game still can be optimized to use more cores, but the guy i quoted seem to think the only issue was the game. keep in mind many games use 4 cores now (crises 2 for example) so it is possible in windows 7, but windows 8 will improve multicore performance a bunch.
  6. No the article says the majority of performance issues are on low end pcs, not all of them. if only 5 percent are having performance issues that number is now 100 after 2 million sold boxes. If a minority are the high performers, 1/5 for example, that would still ber 20,000 people on the forums will great computers complaining. So its within reason that bioware is not spreading lies, its just people do not realize that 5 percent, while a small percentage, is still a huge number of people.
  7. Not entirely true, windows 7 scheduler is poorly optimized. Windows 8 will be better optimized for higher core counts. It was one of the Things that killed Bulldozer besides it just not being good enough.
  8. Why it looks smooth and i am only buying and selling things there anyways...
  9. I have a 4GHZ 1100T and a 6950 with 8 gigs of ram and am getting 30- 40 FPS in fleet.
  10. I have installed the game on avariety machines, from high end to more budget options, and have seen no performance issues. Here are the following specs and settings. I built everyone of these rigs either for friends or myself( these are just the ones that run swtor, but i have built many more). All run at 1920 by 1080 minus the vaio, which is POS anyways. (yes the HP is a 15.6 with a 1080p screen, absolutely beautiful screen.) 1.) GTX 580 i5 2500k Overclocked to 5.0 on water (could get more, but volts are great at 5.0) 8 gigs ram @1600 Runs everything maxed (minus broken high textures) AA Forced @60 or greater fps at all times, great temps 2.)6950 Radeon 4GHZ AMD 1100t Hexacore 8Gigs 1600 ram Runs everything maxed 45 fps and up (AA forced) with low temps 3.) 6770 Radeon AMD athlon 2 255 tripple core 3.3 Ghz 8 GIGS of 1333mhz ram 30FPS and up on max No AA forced 4.) GTX 460 V2 EVGA AMD athlon 2 215 dual core Overclocked to 3.1 GHZ 8 gigs of 1333mhz ram Maxed settings no AA forced 25 FPS on fleet 35 and up everywhere else 5.)HP DV6t Select edition 15.6 i5 Dual core @3.2 6770m 1gb 6 GB 1333mhz ram No shadows, no aa no bloom, everything else on high, 35 FPS and up 6.) Sony Vaio E series 2.3 Ghz i3 integrated intel hd 3000 4GB 1333mhz ram Everything set to lowest including res 20 - 40 FPS on a good day. In populated areas it drops to 10-20. Anyways the results are as expected. The game could always be better optimized, and i am sure drivers will continue to improve. i hope this info helps! Good luck to everyone getting smooth gameplay.
  11. I personally like the marines uniform, although i will admit that the Nazis looked particularly spiffy (while doing some of the most horrific things imaginable). And regarding the game i think that there is a natural draw towards playing empire because: 1.) lightning out of your hands... wayyy to cool 2.) Vader is wayyyy to ****** 3.) The imperial agent is like james bond, again its a sexy idea to be james bond. 4.) republic ships are a bit bland, and the empire's look awesome 5.) Bounty hunters, hell we have TV shows about them in the US, its another ****** profession 6.) I try to do the right thing IRL, so when i play games, i always do the wrong thing. 7.) British accents.
  12. okay, well hopefully your problems are fixed with optimization, otherwise i would look at an RMA for your card. I have installed this game on 4 computers and non have an heating issues. Anyways i am off to play the game, i honestly hope everyone's issues are resolved. Good luck.
  13. its not a geek point! you quoted the darn article! I recently upgraded my computer, prior to my upgrade i had to run games at 100 percent load because my GPU was slow, but that does not make it a stress test!
  14. What are your temps, what is your GPU, what is your case, and what are your loads?
  15. What? now you are just trolling or did not read/ understand the post. SWTOR does not force max current into the card...
  16. Okay, look, furmark pushes max current to the card as one of its tests, preventing the card from throttling current (an nvidia failsafe method). That is not the same as 100 percent load conditions. That disables the failsafe, which can lead to overheating (not always mind you). But it always pushes max current as a stress test. This is not how Swtor operates. It uses 100 percent of the cards potential at stock clocks. If the temp gets too high, the GPU can still throttle itself, because swtor is not forcing max current. This is why lollies "its exactly the same" comment is untrue.

  18. Then why does my PC not operate at 100 percent load while playing?
  19. it does not run like a stress test, i am saying that even if it did its irrelevant to exceeding operational temperatures.
  20. Again, furmark was disabling fail safes. Swtor is not doing that, or it would be on the same list as furmark, of things not to do.
  21. The nvidia quote was commenting on the removal of fail safe features on their GPUs, not the fact that the cards were operating at 100 percent. It was causing them to operate at over 100 percent by disabling their fail safes.
  22. Why not? There is nothing wrong with operating a computer at 100 percent load. it is designed to do that.
