  1. Yeah no kidding. too bad more people haven't chimed in, I would really have liked to see something like this.
  2. With all due respect, total BS coming from BioWare. How exactly is it difficult to make it abuse proof and secure? They have teams of people who are paid to do just that. If they force you to log in with a security key all of the security issues fade away. And exactly how are you going to abuse the system, when they are in control of the code and the app from both sides of the equation?
  3. they are limited to looted missions. they are trying to give you a reason to buy/search for these
  4. The solution is simple. allow the change to be made with a nominal use of cartel coins. say 75 for each skill that you want to retrain, assuming you have mastered that skill before.
  5. Far be it for Bioware and EA to make an app to take care of this for crew skills. No foresight in that company AT ALL.
  6. Where is this already?!? you guys should have built this in to the security key software ages ago. Seriously. I would rather use a skill crew app than play any of the other mmo games for iPhone or Android. Are you people at BioWare seriously going to wait until another mainstream PC MMO does something similar? You should also have a module that allows you to post any item in your inventory or cargo hold onto the galactic trade network. Come on EA and BioWare, innovate for once! this is 2013, not 1998.
  7. If you lost ALL your names in your character transfer, then they were obviously not very unique, and therefore, by default, not as cool as you may think they are. Out of all of my transfers so far I've only had to change 2 out of 10.
  8. thanks, that was eloquent. I think it's a simple matter that they probably never planned for the worst, which is what we're in now. They never designed the servers to transfer data between them. If they had any foresight they would have made the servers dynamically linkable, which would mean that your account would remain on it's origin server, but that that entire server could be easily linked with other servers to combine them and restore population at will. Perhaps they just didn't hire the right people to set up thier network or hired people from another defunct game that closed right around the time that SWTOR opened that shall remain namless for my part. Whatever the reason we ain't got it available, and we should but they seem to want to push the character transfers and hope that people stick it out rather than push through server mergers, which would fix the issue en masse.
  9. Good point, but my particular resub happens on the 19th automatically. If they don't have it sorted by then i won't be resubbing my account in protest. One of the major issues I have is that I can't even recreate or transfer my existing guild and have a lot of players that have not resubbed while they wait for the character transfers to solidify. So now I either have the option of abandoning my guild and looking for/trying to start a new one (and these are people that I have played with for over 8 years on a few different MMOs that will remain nameless), or staying until I can convince enough to come back to SWTOR which may mean that my account to does down with the ship as it were. Why is it that BW hasn't even had the common decency to allow people to log into their account regardless of the subscription status to perform the char transfer? That way I can at least convince my guildmates (active or no) to log in and transfer thier character in preparation for an eventual return to SWTOR at a later date. Thanks BioWare, for making it that much more difficult to for your core players (guildmasters/guild members) who stuck with you through this debacle, to successfully transfer thier characters/recreate their guild on other servers. To compound this issue you are rolling the transfers out slowly, which means that the logistics of transferring a guild that has many inactive players could take a very very long time as they slowly trickle back into the game. I know you're going ahead with char transfers, albiet at snails pace, but I said it in an earlier thread and I"ll say it again here for the record, why don't you geniuses at BW just link the existing servers together that have low populations? that way i still log into tarro blood, but it has been amalgamated with 2 or 3 other servers. This way if the population recovers/explodes for any given reason (namely all the cool things you keep promising to put into the game), then you could simply split the servers back off and offer character transfers to a players desired destination of the originally linked servers once a split happens (that way if they joined a guild on the linked universe they can transfer their char back to that server after the split occurrs).
  10. I would have to say no, not really, this will pretty much kill my guild as we don't have enough active members specifically BECAUSE of the population issues on our server. Getting these people to resub just to transfer characters is not going to be a reality, so I'm SOL. I either stay on a dead server and go down with the ship, or I transfer and abandon everything.
  11. They are acually already doing that in July. If you watch the 1.3 patch trailer it shows you a splashscreen at the end of it that says free to play to level 15 coming in July (Of course it remains to bee seen whether it is already too late in July. One could argue that they need the F2P right now, not in two months time). http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/ss85/ny1591/SWTORtrial.jpg
  12. LOL yeah but how do you explain that to someone who is obviously already insane without offending them?
  13. It's time to take the security key software on the iphone/android/blackberry to the next level. Give your mobile device users the ability to log into an interface on thier mobile device and monitor/initiate crew skill missions without being in front of an actual computer. At over 30 minutes per mission, I can't sit around all day and run crew skill missions. i just don't have the time as I do have to work in real life. This is something that would be awesome on the iphone though, for example. I mean why should I play tiny tower or any of the other myriade of online mobile games when i could be managing my crew skill missions for SW:TOR, and making credits that I badly need in game (hard enought to make them with such low populations these days since the missions pay out squat credits and no one is buying mission discoveries for the simple reason that there is no clientele on the servers to speak of). The other thing we need is for the credit payouts for missions on the servers to be bumped up by a good 5 to 7 percent. Time to give the Old Republic a much needed cost of living increase already!
  14. Good point on the cost. The initial unlock would require the legacy points, but the crafting would definitely have to have a cost associated with it, or require crafting components of some kind. i like th idea of the reverse engineering to gain parts, which is exactly what you used to do in kotor I and II to modify your saber (only in this instance it would only be for the purpose of how the saber looks, not what stats it has since the mods are already in place. I also like the idea of giving your weapon a history idea almost like a mod/tagline for your weapon.
  15. Hey everyone, I had an idea for a legacy unlock that I wanted to run by the community as well as the devs: In keeping with the spirit that it is a right of passage for Jedi and Sith alike, I have always thought that it would be a cool thing to be able to design your own lightsaber in Star Wars Games. Both KOTOR I and II, as well as Jedi Acadamy had elements to this, and I think if you combined the two process from those two games, you would have a winner. Here is what I propose: My idea is to allow for a legacy unlock that allows you to craft an orange lightsaber/armor set that levels with you. Creation of the lightsaber could be split up into the different components of the lightsaber (crystal/hilt/emitter, excetera) and should allow you to customize certain aspacts of the preselectable design, in much the same way that we start with a basic model for character creation, and then adjust values to obtain the overall character look that we want. This could be applied to a custom weapon for any legacy name and could be bound to the legacy name so that any legacy character tied to that name can use it. (much the way that lightsabers, blasters, and armor are passed down in the movies/books Ie: Vaders lightsaber that Ben gives to Luke, and Boba Fett's armor which was originally Jango Fett's). You could even go so far as to insert the crafted weapon as a quest reward on new characters attached to the legacy (once it has been unlocked on that toon of course!). So lets hear what you guys think. I personally hope this idea takes hold and I'm soon creating a custom lightsaber for my toons
