I pvp far more on my operative/scoundrel then my merc. but when on my merc heres how it goes. Works great killing people from ranged with high single target burst. But the second you go up against any decent player who interrupts your grav/tracer you are done. arsenal rotation is mainly 4 skills which all hinge on one move. without it your stuck using weak skills you that hit for nothing. I hear the pyro spec is slightly better for pvp but doesnt come close to that of Powertech pyro. Merc healing is as everyone knows the weakest healing class. But anytime I get into a match on my merc where the other team has "bad" players or I get a good vantage point to rain hell down from, I am almost always on top of the damage board. but ultimately I would hope smash bombers get fixed before mercs
