  1. I imagined those in the male IA's voice and just melted I agree that F!war is along the lines of 'You are attractive, we shall mate now' but with the amount of fight Quinn puts up it's needed and Pierce totally goes for that. The female bounty hunter is...blunt. She could be dead tomorrow, so she's doing it today. The flirts aren't subtle but I think they suit her lifestyle. What I've seen of the male BH should have an 'accost' option instead of flirt. Mako constantly turns you down and when it finally becomes a romance I almost felt like she'd just decided to go with it to shut you up. Lines delivered to Mako by the male and female bounty hunters vary hugely to, the same line from a male sounds posessive and slightly sinister, while delivered by the female makes me think 'BFF's with blasters'. The Male and Female smugglers are just fantastic, it's the perfect mix of playful teasing and 'but really though, take your clothes off'. Corso is fantastic with either gender as your wingman or the jealous puppy dog. Male Consular...I found him to be not too bad. He's a bit awkward but the feeling is clearly there. Some men you spend the night with, some men you spend your life with. His flirting definately puts him more as the latter. Female Consular, all of her flirts are incredibly awkward. In her romance she seems to be desperately trying to express something and failing hard. The rest of the time the line and its delivery makes me think of someone who has observed flirting with detatched interest and is now attempting to replicate it. Both might be awkward, but I'd say class suitable. JK of both genders seem to take the BH 'We'll die young, so let's live fast' approach. SI, I only know for Males, but I personally think he's pretty smooth. I'd be seduced. It's a nice mix of abrupt honesty and romance. A different style to the male smuggler but with the same result. You know it's a one night thing, but you know it's going to be a very good night. How he flirts in a romance depends on how you play your class. Depending on how you see your Sith he's either being incredibly manipulative and trying to twist and innocent young woman to the darkside by exploiting her feelings and showing her what she wants to see, so he can slowly introduce more evil ideas once she's totally in love with him. OR she brings out the best in him, and he can actually be incredibly sweet, if slightly defensive and blunt. For example 'If I put my hand in a flame my body tells me it hurts, and my mind remembers it so I don't do it again, but where do emotions fit in?' The SI's answer (or possible answer) 'Emotions give you the urge to stop people you care about setting themselves on fire'. I laughed and appreciated the simple honesty of his answer. The flirting's much like that.
  2. Jessica Simpson is a mandolorian? And good job on the civilised debate. It's nice when polite people like you come in to resect someone elses opinion and raise the bar
  3. My agent and Kaliyo have an understanding, they're girl buddies, they get drinks, they get men, they pick a fight and then they find men to rub kolto on the bruises. Kaliyo doesn't like a lot of my agents lightside decisions and encourages her to be a little more trigger happy, my agent in turn sorts out her messes on the condition that it's done her way. The agreement is simple and mutual 'You have my back, I have yours. Just don't let me see your back or I'll put a vibroblade in it'. I agree that there are parameters. Within those parameters Kaliyo is entirely trustworthy, outside them she'd betray you in a heartbeat (or lack of your hearbeat, to be more precise). It's an arrangement they both like and feel comfortable with. I'd like her to be a little less psychotic, but can't deny she's fun, and for the most untrustworthy person in the game, oddly trustworthy. Would I trust Kaliyo with my life? If I knew my death wasn't worth anything to her, yes. Would I trust her with my toothbrush? Dear god no, I dread to think what the woman would do to my toothbrush. Would I trust her to help me steal credits from the empire/kill sith? Absolutely.
  4. I can only assume through a mix of meditation and extremely limited movement? When you're a BH with an air filtered helmet, your target not being able to move gives you a pretty big advantage. Now for a short story of my own (as muh as I love bounty hunters): A huge class battle raged, a Sage and Inquisitor competed with mighty force powers, shielding themself and causing great flashes of light as their shields crashed into one another, testing their power. A Knight and a Warrior fought fiercely with lightsabers, throwing each other across the battle ground with both kicks and the force. From nowhere an assain appeared to stab the Knight, being blocked by a shadow a second before the attack ended the life of a brave warrior. A bounty hunter fired a rocket, her devastating attack only stopped by a brave trooper activating their energy shield and throwing themselves into its path before returning fire. The Inquisitor drew on the power of the force ghosts he had bound, breaking the sages shield and sending them flying against a wall with a fatal burst of lightning. The Trooper took advantage is his focus on killing the sage to fire an explosive round into his back, destroying his body almost completely before being bested by the superior tech and firepower of the Bounty Hunter. The Jed Knights focus outlasted the rage of the Warrior and through sheer endurance bested their opponent. While a worthy opponent the Jedi Shadow eventually succumbed to the trickery of the assasin and was killed. On his way to avenge the fallen shadow, the Knght had just enough time to see an agent on the roof before he was fatally shot. Turning their attention to the agent, the Warrior and assasin were suprised to see them vanish into thin air, before re-appearing and severing the tendons of the assasins leg. The agent vanished again, preparing to stab the Warrior once they had dispatched the agent. At this moment, a hail of gunfire came from behind a barrel. The agent took cover and the Sith deflected it, their laughter cut short as an XS-Freighter flew overhead and blasted them all into oblivion before landing. As the smuggler went to get back on board victorious, another operative who had been waiting for the right moment dropped out of stealth behind the smuggler and raised their vibroknife, before being promptly crushed by an unbelievably strong bear-hug. Hearing the bones crunch, the smuggler turned round and simply said 'Thanks Bowdaar'.
  5. The way I see it, as previously said, the op is a support class. Much like the assasin is more of a support tank (built to annoy and do damage wth high survivability instead of stand there and treat blaster fire like leaves in the wind). In both of those cases, that doesn't mean they're not viable as a spec, just that the best strategies for them are more complicated. I agree ops aren't likely to top the damage charts in pvp, but they can be absolutely lethal when played correctly. Between stuns, kiting, interrupts, stealth and a bit of stealth healing a well played op can take or defend an objective themselves or turn a large battle that's not going so well for their team into a clear victory. The biggest problem with their validity in a large fight is that other people have to think like them. How many times have I flashbanged a group of enemies, allowing my team to focus on the few remaining, only to have some dps tunnel view mara 'hero' force leap in and aoe everyone I just stunned... This sounds unbelievable, I know, I was INCREDBLY suprised. But at level 11, by taking cover up the top of mid in civil war and sniping/healing as needed I got something like 75k damage and 110k healing. partly because I got lucky and was rarely attacked, but it goes to show that as a sideline support class (and at that level with minimal abilities), the op IS viable. I will however agree that having a hrybrid to heal yourself is borderline essential, and that you're pretty much stuck being an 'annoyer' class. But as an 'annoyer' class, the op is incredibly useful.
  6. To those saying this topic isn't up for debate, there are 22 pages of debate so clearly it is. I agree with the 'stuff George Lucas' people. He's revised things before, he might do again, and more to the point: The man had a brilliant idea, an idea that sparked many books, tv series, games and heated debates over things that don't actually exist, and that is fantastic. BUT Lucas created a Universe, a Universe with its own technology, quirks, philosophical ideas and religions. You canon fans surely don't him to be solely responsible for every detail of that universe do you? He made a framework, filling in every individual detail of a Universe is not just beyond him (and beyond anything less than the millions of fans that enjoy trying) it's selfish. Through Canon we've seen pacifist Mandolorians (seriously?!), the introduction of gay relationships and the incredibly repetative 'republic rebuilt, empire returns, republic rebuilt, empire returns' (Seriously Emporer, Luke beats you every time and you're immortal, just wait for him to die). We've also seen several non-canon books that are frankly better written and less ridiculous than some canon ones. We've also seen gaping plot holes in the films. The man had a brilliant idea but he's not a god and canon isn't the be all and end all. According to Canon this conversation must have happened: 'So we have this clone army that was created without our knowledge, they obey every order they're given without question' 'That's fantastic, put them everywhere, base our entire defense around that army' 'Shall we check the orders that have been programmed into them? After all, the entire future of the republic rests on those orders' 'No, no, I'm sure it'll be fine' I believe that's my point in the debate over whether or not this is a debate made. So, onto the force. Doesn't the Sith code itself state that their power is driven by passion? Passions can be many things, not all of them negative emotions. And I seem to remember reading this game does count as Canon. Well we have lightside sith that shoot lightning, an entire companion plotline based around lightside sith (one way or another) and the Voss, masters of not light or dark, but grey. There's room for a lot of expansion with the voss, but it seems they use the force when they need to, and how they need to, having given no thought to whether or not the action is selfless or selfish. They haven't all been corrupted by accessing the 'dark' elements of the force.
  7. Interestingly I found the Mako romance terrible in a way. You flirt, she turns you down, you flirt, she laughs at you, you flirt, she turns you down, she flirts, you sleep together, you get married, done. The Mako conversations were fantastic,I like her storyline, I like her and my female BH considers her a besty. The conversations themselves aren't lacking, but the romance feels like it was never meant to happen and they threw it in at the end to me. You get perhaps 3 conversations (I think less) with her from a rapidly progressing relationship perspective before that's it. Blizz is my exception to my 'by Hoth I can't care about them' rule. Skadge I can't have an opinion on considering I'm currently at -2k affection with him and plan to stay there. Given the choice I would have honestly shot that vile blob and just been down a companion. Torian, I like Torian, I really do. If you have him out in quests, he says a few things that show him to be an intelligent, kind and honourable man, who's interested in learning about other cultures. For me that more than makes up for him being a man of few words that's somewhat war hungry. But my god does that romance feel rushed. I wanted quests with him, and to meet the friends he talks about (maybe in the actual romance, a mandolorian 'meet the family' would be fantastic). Not a few sessions of incredibly forward flirting on my part and his approval of this, rapidly followed by a random 'I'm in love with you' As for sleeping with him: 'Didn't I promise to teach you Mandoa?' 'I do remember you offering me lessons' followed by a fade to black. Well Bioware, I'm still not sure, did I just sleep with Torian or learn Mandoa? (If he did both at the same time that's fine). I'm also slightly concerned that once he's said 'I love you' and you return the sentiment, you don't have an 'I don't want to sleep with you option'. While I appreciate that given how forward I was before saying no would be a real kick in the teeth, and that there's no chance of me changing my mind. I don't want conversation options to force me into sleeping with someone/ learning mandoa (Still not sure). I agree Nadia is rushed, and kind of creepy. And that Iresso needs a better storyline. All characters by the end of act 1/ middle of act 2 (so around 34 I guess) sounds like a good idea to me. BUT I wouldn't mind waiting longer at all IF all companions had the same story build as your first companion. About 20+ conversations, including missions, that allow friendship/romance/hatred to develop properly. Anyone who's read the Lore about Torians father for example, knows that the PERFECT story for Torian to fall in love with you through is already set up.
  8. But I'm from the UK, we have Darwins So are you saying that transferring a character accross a server is actually going to require their time and/or money any more than say, answering a pointless game ticket? Because they don't charge us for asking silly questions...I might understand more if they didn't charge for server changes but stuck a price on silly questions
  9. Sidestepping the need to be ever so much more experienced than the new person with a valid point. There are a few glitches that simply shouldn't be here anymore, but that's for Bioware to argue about, not us, so, on to more constructive things. I love the idea of pod racing, I really, really do. As for moving servers. I have a general question. Switching servers is surely just a transfer of data right? Data that they could give us the option to transfer ourselves in a few clicks. ....why on earth should, or would, we pay for that?
  10. I have to agree with both sides here. Personally, I enjoy when the game decides to make one boss or area 3 times as hard as the last one. As a Bounty Hunter, the first one I encountered like this was Tyresius Lokai. If I remember rightly, he matches your level. It's possible others had a lot less trouble, but as a healing spec merc, with nothing but a healing companion, a burst dps boss with his own companion put up quite a fight (why can't my droid be that cool? ) I had to learn to CC Tyresius while I took out the droid, and without an interrupt my stun and knockback had to be well timed. After it became clear I wasn't going to beat him ranging I thought 'What the hell' and charged at him, hiting him with rocket punch and flamethrower. It took me another death to learn to keep close so I could use jet boost as an interrupt, but in the end, I got there. As someone who had spent the game a few levels ahead, it was suprising to be suddenly challenged, and it made me a better player. The first combat Mako companion quest felt like another brick wall, and after a few deaths I realised once I was in the phase that needed Mako, I could switch to Torian/Gault for the fight. The 'brick walls' can be frustrating, but they're very rewarding to beat, and you usually learn something doing it. However, as I understand it, this game is meant to compete with WoW. While personally, I won't miss the players that claim it's impossible, everyone's stupid and then quit, Bioware will. They can't keep everyone happy, but if they don't keep enough people happy then the game is going to fail, which ruins things for all of us. They may keep a server or two running, but there goes the new content/patches budget, or our subscription quadruples. So, perhaps there's a happy middle ground. Instead of 'brick walls', why not slowly make things harder? And while we're at it, whenever a new ability (A CC or interrupt) is needed to keep your combat running smoothly, put in a tutor at the start of the planet. It could easily be some local or another simply saying 'You can't fight all of them, stun one' or 'if you're really struggling, maybe call someone different to help?' I have to admit, as nice as the challenge is, the brick walls are a bit sudden and without warning. Progressive difficulty increase, requiring new strategy and hinting to what strategy would work would stop that and allow people to prepare, while still getting better at the game.
  11. Playing Dune Bantha, I'm not having TOO much trouble with PVP and such.
  12. My experience as a BH Healer so far. To set some context, this is my first MMO, I'm told I learned quickly and that I'm a fairly good healer. I wouldn't say I'm the best, or even comparable to them, but I'm fairly confident in my ability to keep at least 4 people at a time alive if they're all fighting one other player (with perhaps 2 of them fighting two players each). My experience in PVP is this: If you play a lot, people start to recognise you. I can think of at least 3 republic players who would actively seek me out every warzone because they noticed I wasn't bad at my job. When I'm facing a dps I find my only chance of survivng is: Knockback, stun, get in as much burst damage as I can, hit them with a rocket punch if possible and heal myself, then doing low and occasional damage while I wait for my knockback/stun cooldown. If I'm defending an objective, I can usually hold it for about a minute against 3, on a purely keeping myself alive and interrupting anyone who tries to interact with it basis. Unless they stun me. Healing in pvp now can still work brilliantly, at my best, I was playing with a tank specced BH friend, he protected me, I healed him and anyone else nearby. Even just the two of us were easily able to take on 4-5 others unless they were VERY good. Though to my friends credit, he was good. Which brings me to the choices as a healer. It's not just 'click the one with low health and heal', a good healer watches the players. If player A is fighting two enemies quite well, I'm going to heal them instead of player B who's fighting two enemies and not coping. If Player A has just been swarmed by enemies, do I go for instantly throwing heals, hoping to keep them alive long enough to get some help, or do I fire an AOE and hope it scatters the enemies? (Most people will, on instinct, run out of the AOE symbol, even though they could clearly kill player A before a healer does any significant damage). Healing in groups is as much about knowing who's most important to keep alive as it is healing people with low health. I've entirely abandoned healing someone who's clearly going to die without it, to heal someone who's still at 75% health, because they're a much better player and I want them around and ready when the next dps appears. If a healer in your pvp match is only healing themself, throw/push/pull the person attacking away from them and guard them if possible, 90% of us will notice someone's helping us and return the favour.
  13. Strange, I thought my complaint was shown in the complaint... I'm aware of how it works. I'm saying that having to buy at least the recruit gear, so you can have the expertise you need for level 50 pvp, then saving up for BM gear, buying BM gear, paying to pull the mods out and THEN putting them in moddable gear, is a VASTLY more annoying, confusing, time consuming and generally stupid process than simply buying recruit etc expertise mods at the same price as the armour/weapons and putting them in your moddable gear. Not only is it vastly simpler, but it saves you having to wear ugly armour that looks the same as everyone elses just to eventually get enough commendations to go back to the armour you wanted to wear in the first place.
  14. Really? You really see that as a solution? The problem exists. You are forced to wear incredibly ugly armour for however long. You should be able to buy the mods instead of the gear straight away, not have to get to battlemaster gear, buy all of the gear and then pay to pull the mods out.
