  1. There is a good thread on MMO Mechanics on shadows, by Inox.

    http://mmo-mechanics.com/swtor/forums/thread-1183.html

Lots of great info; parses with a breakdown of rotation, gear, BIS stat distributions for both balance and infiltration.

    tl;dr

    Bal BiS :

    WP 3052

    Power 1195

    Crit 228

    Surge 316

    Acc 395

    Alacrity 79

    Inf Bis :

    WP 3052

    Power 1195

    Crit 228

    Surge 237

    Acc 395

    Alacrity 158

    Those are your stats? lol

Wow...I need to start getting gear. Is that PVP?

  2. Shadows on their own aren't so strong, but once they are in a raid setting and you have others debuffing our DPS goes through the roof! It sucks DPS shadows have no utility at all.. but with proper synergy they can out DPS anyone in raid. Sucks that we do have to rely on other classes to see the full potential of this class =/
  3. All I read about is Kinetic this Kinetic that. Do any Shadows play Infiltration? I swear I'm the only Shadow on my server that is Infiltration spec, I don't even see the Sith equivalent to it either!

An Inf in 1v1 Will destroy any class. The best way to take us down is to keep us at bay. Range classes can be a hassle if they use their controls effectively, and watch resolve.

I've even 1 v 2 as an Infiltrator. I mean I gotta be quick and do a lot of crowd control, but it's doable. I've never spec'd anything but Infiltration.

When people say we're OP..WHAT is OP? Are they talking about Kinetic builds? Cause Infiltration seems lacking in certain areas.

  4. On Naddist Rebels on average que pop time is 10mins.

The server is so light you see the same people you're fighting with and against. I am so unhappy with the community on my server..some cool people but it's lack so bad. Honestly if transfers were 100 bucks I'd pay it just to **** of Naddist Rebels server!

Please hurry with transfers or at least merge populations. It's 5pm EST and right now about maybe 10 of the US servers are at standard as the rest are LIGHT. UGH I'm so mad and sad. Community makes the game....

  5. Nice video as always, and I must say that i've learned a lot from you regarding "rotation/priority" etc. The only thing I disagree with on this though is the spec that you use for Inf. Like you I stared using the 2/31/8 spec from the beginning, and I absolutely loved the burst potential that it has.

My problem with it though is when setting up for burst. I essentially have a 45% chance to do an extra 2-2.5k damage every 10 seconds due to upheaval. Instead of putting my points into upheaval I did this spec:

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#601McMZhGrRkhMbtzZc.1

What i've found out by using that spec instead is that I lose the burst potential (yes I know burst is king in PVP) with the extra rock, I gain though about 4-500 extra white damage per CS. In that same cool down time of 10 seconds I'm not doing about 2.6k-3.3k of guaranteed damage. I also gained additional survivability by the decrease in cool downs for resilience and force speed. Against tank armor that i'm trying to chew threw like vanguards/KC shadows i'm hitting much harder and its almost a winable scenerio for me.

Now, my gear is no where near what yours is, i'm just BM with a the Force Healer earpiece. I would imagine with your gear levels you would do even more and it would make the numbers even better. Here is my gearing below for your comparison.

    http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/749a9239-675e-4f1f-805a-91419afaebe7

If you could give it a try and let me know your thoughts on it i'd appreciate it.

That's exactly my spec too expect I put the points in expertise and not force speed. I noticed a 200dps increase thanks to combat log parsing and what not.

    Sustained > Chance

that's why at the very start I with willpower- power > crit.

Sustain will always trump chance. :D

  6. Interesting stats. Can I ask for a break down of where those stats come from? I'm particularly interested in the power and surge values.

Before 1.2 I did a lot of power/surge/willpower modding through mods and enhancements. I use the 45will power 37power mods, and 37power and 50 surge enhancements.

I made a new gear lay out that will be different for 1.2. My stats will change, but that's what I currently have and was parsed with.

  7. It's stupid how the SHARED tree does more DPS than the DPS tree.

    Really..? Ugh..

You know what's funny my project hits harder than Shadow Strike even with the proc up. They should combine the crit buff talent in Balance with the melee percent increase with restriction. IF in Combat stance all outgoing damage is increased by 100%, if Force stance DoTs increased by 100% if Shadow stance Melee increased by 100% for the duration of the buff.

  8. It's just one of the many "systematic errors" combatlog parsers come with that makes some "builds" to appear different.

I see your point on the upheavel thing. But it's not based on the parser. It's based on combatlog SWTOR is scripted for. I don't know if you actually looked at the log of in game combat, but the way it's written is that U heavel IS project that does half it's primary hit. The only way to seperate it is make upheavel proc something other than project..like example: Project has a 45% chance to trigger Internal breach (name I made up) causing internal damage based on half the initial hit.

This will also help infiltration shadows do a bit more DPS..which we do need. Internal is not affected by armor and is one of the hardest stats to mitigate. When you see shadows parse 5k-6k crit attacks..it's Force breach (internal damage for Inf spec).

Other ideas is adding a dot duration to force slow, increasing damage per point and duration/cool down of effect. But that's for another thread..lol

  9. Here are the MAIN problems with Inf spec.

It's meant to be a strict DPS tree with no utility. The problem is it's not that great at DPS.

Comparing to another DPS melee class such as the Sent/Mara they outshine Inf spec shadows, and bring a TON of utility, they have multiple ways of helping a raid force. Inf. shadows have zero raid utility and do not make it up in DPS.

    1.) Lack of DPS

    2.) Lack of utility

Wouldn't you rather have a class that can DPS and support group functions defensive and or offensively oppose to a class that does not DPS as high with no utility?

The tank tree seems fine, balance seems fine. Inf is lacking something is missing. A well played shadow will parse around 1200. You got Sent/Mara parsing 1600-1800. Maybe more with new raid gear and pvp gear.

This isn't not a DPS class. Infiltration is a GREY area and needs some support somewhere. I never realized how bad it was till I was able to analyze through combat logs. :(

  10. The DPS for Inf was appx 1350 in about 4mins.

I've done multiple runs for 5 mins and parse between 1100-1200 consecutively. My stationary stats are higher, but crit is lower. I believe I'm 23%. I'm curious to how he's hitting that hard. Would it be possible you could demo a DPS run and post it in youtube, as well builds?

  11. I think end game shadows will be doing between 1000-1200 DPS on a 5min encounter.

To me for Inf spec this is quite low. A Sentinel can out DPS us and have MORE utility. We have no utility at all that helps the group, nothing and do mediocre DPS. I was shocked at the numbers I figured we would be between 1500-1800 at least. As a straight up DPS class these values are low. Makes me wonder what purpose does a Inf spec shadow have in raids? It's not for utility, and DPS someone else can do a better job...

I never said it before but since I can see what is happening now with logs.

Inf tree needs help..I'm sure the Tank spec is pulling those numbers too. I ran comparisons with our MT raid shadow.

    It makes me sad lol.

  12. .

At any rate if you love to play this class and are interested in rateds ignore 99% of what you read on these forums.... Success is determined by how well you and your team communicate and play together.... being an inf shadow is secondary.

You speak with common sense sir. I like you.

  13. I don't understand what the difference is rated or not rated. It's not going to change your skill level... regardless of the spec you play.

Think about it..does it make sense? lol

The only difference is the possibility of fighting other premades. That's it. How is that going to affect your skill?

IMO Shadows have always done well in PVE and PVP and in all 3 specs. We're fortunate to be one of the few classes that is somewhat okay. Could use a few tweaks here or there, but it's not bad.

    The real question is

Will your PREMADE shine or fall when rated WZ comes out.

    *EDIT*

The KC Deeps make me lawl. Really how you going to compare an AoE spec to a single dps spec?

  14. There needs to be something beyond just big numbers. The survivability needs a buff. The energy regeneration needs to be looked at and infil could use a debuff that makes them worth bringing. I'll be posting a topic on this soon. It's been on my mind.

For the record: Infil is still my favourite spec.

Hm personally for Power I manage, it's easy to do I don't think it's terrible or has to be adjusted. I do agree on debuffs. We have none except for taunts which only work in a PVP settings. Also closers IMO are an issue. Everyone has some kind of leap, pull or something like that..and we get a 30s cool down force run that last 2s. I had an idea they could add a teleport to tumult..dropping it's restriction, and only active with shadow technique. Was just an idea I had the other night. How cool would it be to teleport to your target from behind and kick em in the head lol.

  15. Lol. Scrappers are in the same boat with their low survivability and lack of group utility. I would much rather take a Mara/Sent over an infil on my team any day. Simply because they have the pressure upkeep, debuffs, mobility and far better survivability. Quite frankly, they outclass Infiltration in meaningful PvP in just about every way thinkable. That burst won't matter in long fights, especially with guards, taunts and heals. So that's my melee DPS already chosen, now we move on to ranged and healers...

Also at what point did I say KC damage was rigged? I know my role as KC. Don't put words in my mouth.

So would you say infiltration needs some changes in their DPS tree to be up to par with other melee DPS to be viable? If not, then what makes them viable/useful in your opinion?

  16. Backpedaling isn't always bad. For example, when my enemy is backpedaling, I just get behind them and backpedal too. Usually takes them a second or two to notice it. Also, I'm a WASD mover, and sometimes using A+S or D+S to keep them off my back really throws them off.

Yeah I know what you mean I do the same thing too. I do a lot of jousting maneuvers is why I'm so use to back peddling.

  17. Look at those maaaad clicks. XD

I KNOW I'm so terribad with that habit. I am getting better lol.

If I do click I click on utility or stuns. I do back pedal too which I'm trying to break lol.

  18. That's a STIM, Force Valor, smuggler and trooper buff - no knight buff

No they're right. It was an old pic I was just going through it and I enhance the brightness it's there. Behind the character sheet.

It was a mix up because my current stats are identical to what the buff is lol.

I just took this one less than 10mins ago :

    Current stat

  19. I'm not gonna argue with you m8, I know what i see. Have even saved the pic and enhanced it just to be sure, angle of your lcd/led or brightness scale may make it un-seeable for you so.

OH hm you're right actually it was a mix up on my part. Must have took that pic before I remoded my pvp gear, and got my final piece of battle master armor. Sorry for the mix up it's easy to confuse it because the stats are almost identical as you can see here:

    1573 Willpower

    446 Bonus melee

    697 Force bonus

    26 crit

    75 surge

    Weapon spread 813-997

    New/correct stat pic

I mouse'd over the bonus damage area to also show there is no buff enhancement.

My old photo yes was with the knight buff I enhanced it to be sure. I just took this new pic now. So basically with the new mods and getting my last BM piece it's equivalent to having that buff.

  20. check at the lower right on your spread cheet of your char(Transparent area next to where it says "ship") and you can see what you discribed, I know what it looks like. And you can see it. If you doubt it check your char again, take away your buffs that you have and then re-buff your self and there you go... Not being mean or anything, but what's right should be right =)

Hm..I really don't know what you're talking about. I think you're confusing my own buff force of valor with the knight one. It's got a yellow background like the knight buff, except ours is a hand not a person.

You can also see the same buff icon on my hotbar to the bottom left with the yellow background and hand.

I know you're trying to be helpful, but I play my toon every day. I know my stats lol.
