I race changed to Miraluka and purchased the hair style options because I thought it was available to them, seeing that you can preview them with it on the appearance change screen. Unfortunately, you can't actually wear them, so I purchased a race change not knowing this. I don't really understand why it's not available to all races, to be honest; I really like the long, braided-ponytail look that the female humans get, as well as the long-haired option for males, but can't use any of them since I don't play Humans.

I thought that was the case, as well; however, I think it just means that if you subscribe to get the chapter just before it's released, people who had previously been subscribed will get it before you. If that makes sense.

Yeah ... Subscriber rewards that won't be available for nearly a year. A (nearly) whole year of subscription time for a side quest with a character that isn't your own? Doesn't seem worth it; if you're not already a subscriber, chances are, this "reward" didn't incentivize you to subscribe. (Spoiler alert) Not to mention that receiving HK-55 as a companion (again) is kind of a plot-killer and completely devalues his story line in KotFE. This is definitely an EA move, not a BioWare move, IMO. May as well be giving you a Darth Vader companion; it would make just as much sense. (Spoiler end) I was expecting something a little more tangible. Larger discounts in the Cartel Market, more options to buy direct items from packs rather than gambling with the Cartel Packs ... Pretty much anything to incentivize people to subscribe, aside from another companion. There's already so many companions you can have, and now that every companion can fill every role, there's very little reason to get excited over a companion returning to your already long roster. The only people who will really be happy with this are players who are already subscribing (since you have to be in order to play through KotFE) and players who also really liked HK-55 in the story line. It gives no incentive to players who aren't already subscribing to do so, and gives a niche amount of currently-subscribed players a reason not to unsubscribe.

Aren't the packs normally 10% off anyways? So the 25% is actually only 15% more than "usual". EDIT: Looks like they're not bringing back "all existing packs", either. The picture on the website looked like they'd be bringing more packs back, but it's only a discount on packs currently on sale (Gold/Silver/Bronze and Force Alliance Packs). Really really underwhelming. Pathetic excuse for a Black Friday "sale", especially compared to many competitors and previous sales.

25% doesn't seem like much, and the new "packs" aren't really all that great. Are they bringing back the old packs, or just the new Bronze/Silver/Gold packs will be on sale? Not trying to be ungrateful, but there's a really big missed opportunity on sales if this is all you're offering. Pretty much every other F2P game is offering at least 50% bonus or half off purchases.
