  1. Well I'm jealous. Mostly, I'm immersed in loading screens and orbital stations, or just picking my *** on the fleet while I wait to get a group for something... ANYTHING. Oh 2 have your luck.
  2. Because BW is paying people to write them, so inevitably they make their way onto the forums, where the vast majority of posters are bashing the **** out of BW's face.
  3. he writes this review as his character is level 20. nuff said.
  4. your speeder is fast? mine doesn't seem to go any faster than my horse in wow. so we play in a world where spaceships go from one end of the galaxy to the other in seconds, but my "speeder" does 27 mph. makes sense
  5. that list is missing hundreds of items. that's just one person's list.
  6. because it's faster to do it with your companions now. so there's no reason to go out into the world.
  7. how many times did you raid ICC without the buff? did you ever kill Anub'arak in ToC 25 on Hard Mode without full ICC Gear? did you ever kill Algalon 25 without ToC gear? WoW had really hard ****. it still does. people just choose not to do it.
  8. they just nerfed open world farming. especially droid scavenging. i don't think they're going where you think they're going with this game.
  9. you're missing the big picture. there is very little incentive to being on ilum in the first place. farm kills or armaments for several hours a day to get a single bag? fail, and no thanks. people, especially on PVE servers, aren't going to go to the PVP zones unless there is potential for PVE reward. SEE WOW (Wintergrasp, Tol Barad, etc.) factions battle for control of these zones in order to unlock a raid instance where pvp AND pve gear drops. there are also daily quests made available in these zones once your faction has control. and unlike SWTOR, these quests are completable. BW is trying to re-invent the wheel here, and they are absolutely failing miserably at it. the reason is they don't know what motivates people. motivation is the key to getting people to pvp. no amount of herding, as your post suggests, will cause MORE PEOPLE to come to Ilum, which is what is desperately needed more than anything else.
  10. you lost your credibility the second you typed "i like the crafting system" no mmo vet likes this crafting system. it's for rainbow people.
  11. i'll give you the analogy i've given everyone else. I already have a ferarri that i can pay 15 bucks a month to drive. 2 of them, really. i'm expected to pay 15 bucks a month to drive this ford pinto in the hopes that they will someday turn it into a ferrari? granted. i'm really tired of driving the ferarris. but i'm not about to downgrade to a ford pinto. BW, fix your game. i'll be back in 6 months to check your progress.
  12. it's been "in development" for seven years seven years
  13. no he's just referring to gear that matches.
  14. i remember my first few months in mmo's. i was a casual gamer who saw HWL's, or people in naxx (40) gear and looked up to them. it gave me something to strive for. i knew it would be time consuming and difficult but i didn't care. I looked up to guilds like Nihilum who cleared everything 6 months before anyone else did. it didn't bother me one bit that i wasn't able to get into a group who could do that. they were doing it right but at the same time, i was enjoying the game, so... so was i.
  15. 300 million dollar mmo's definitely did NOT exist before casuals "discovered" this genre. welcome to present day. we have cookies, and bad mmo's.
  16. if you didn't have casuals, you wouldn't have a game to play. the problem is solvable with different modes (easy, hard, etc.) and different drops from those modes (not just more drops for hard mode). casuals are happy 1 or 2 tiers behind elite players as long as the stuff they have is purple and if they ever decide to run hard... or nightmare modes, the stuff they have doesn't render them utterly useless. this worked great in wow (early BC). i never understood why they moved away from that model. people were happy. now with new games *cough* this one, you can clear "hard mode" content as though you are running Naxx in tier 10. we don't have casuals to blame. anti-social programmers and developers with 200 iq's who have zero common sense are who we have to blame.
  17. the game will -hopefully- eventually be good. when i come back in 6 months i'll find out. the crafting in this game is hideous. RNG recipe acquisition is pretty harsh. it also sucks that i can't do my own crafting. i'm the one paying to learn the recipe, and yet all of my crewmates can make the stuff but i can't? should be able to send EVERYONE out on gathering missions and still be able to find a crafting station somewhere where I can make the stuff i want to make myself. they say there are improvements coming for crafting. like i said, i'll find out in 6 months. the game lacks basic polish, lacks virtually every gaming innovation developed within the last 7 years, lacks meaningful stuff for a solo player to do while waiting around for guild scheduled events, and lacks a lot of other stuff that many other mmo's have, and did have at launch. i personally hope they fire at least 3/4 of the people who developed this game, hire some people who ACTUALLY KNOW what an mmo is, and get to fixing all the broken stuff. if they don't do it soon, i fear when i come back in 6 months i won't even have to pay to play. and that will suck.
  18. space...lol ok 3d galaga is solo. but it also sucks and there is no "progression" occuring there. heroics = group play, also repetitive, easy and boring. ops = group play flashes = group play datacrons are lame and occasionally require groups (or at least 1 other) to acquire. also, it only takes about 2 days to get them all. codices are not important at all. it's like.. exploration achievements in wow. this is not solo play, this is solo walking around. so... explain to me exactly how i'm so "wrong"
  19. it's only single player for the week that it takes to level to 50. once you hit 50, there is nothing to do for a "single" player. they don't even have level 50 quest chains. once you open up your dailies on ilum and belsavis, that's it. no more solo play.
  20. aside from the FACT that unsheathed weapons have nothing to do with run speed, this guy is right. it IS annoying. it's a matter of polish. it's another one of those things about this game that jumps out and screams AMATEUR PROGRAMMER. there are hundreds of little things like this in the game that may never be addressed because of the pressure to put out more end game content and fix major bugs, but this is the difference between a game like wow (or even rift) and this one. it's the little things. these guys ****ed up all kinds of little things.
  21. of all the things on BW's to do list, I'd bet a million credits this isn't one
  22. i'm pretty sure we're stuck with this until someone figures out VR... or some way to give the player a more immersive experience in the game environment. I know VR is a long way off but there doesn't even really seem to be a vision of what comes between what we have now and VR gaming. In that respect, everything we get from now until VR becomes feasible, will be definable as some type of wow clone. the question is did they clone it well or did they clone it poorly. i think the answer is fairly clear with this game.
  23. true, but they are all like this for different reasons. people will find something to be upset about and voice their discontent on the forums. In wow's case, it's mostly about the philosophy of what makes a compelling raiding environment, and to a lesser extent, minor character design and playstyle issues having mostly to do with the ability to compete with other characters. In Rift, people are mostly upset about balance issues in PVP and PVE. DPS for one class far outpaces dps for another class. certain abilities make some classes extremely difficult or impossible to kill. Rift has already seen a 90% drop in subscribers because of developers' lack of ability to deliver the product that the people who came here were looking for. with wow it was about a 10% drop. those people will be leaving this game as well. with ToR, the complaints haven't had a chance to become so refined because we are still voicing (on deaf ears) our discontent that the game lacks almost every gaming innovation of the last 5-7 years and for one reason or another, people are having a difficult time accomplishing anything beyond dinging level 50. add the bugs, exploits, etc. and you have a serious difference between the problems of this game vs. the problems of others.
