  1. People with no problems don't post in the forums for the most part. Really, who even knows about the forums at all if they never have questions or problems?? Nobody, hence the forums are so negative...
  2. You must be a joy to play with...
  3. So, they fixed your problems with your computer playing the game and other people like YOU. What's your point??? That they like to make customers happy? That somehow successful companies like Bioware and EA do not keep their customers happy? What are you smokin'? The "haters" did not force Bioware to fix anything. The people reporting bugs gave Bioware a chance to fix the bugs by reporting them and Bioware did. The "haters" have been whining and QQ'ing up and down these forums since before the game launched! Don't confuse customers reporting bugs with "haters". The "haters" we talk about in these forums do absolutely nothing constructive and contribute absolutely nothing to this game other than laughs for the rest of us. Honestly, I don't want to be lumped in with the "haters" just because I reported something about the game that sucks or doesn't work the way I think it should. And I don't think the "haters" deserve the credit that should only go to the people who honestly reported problems without being naggy little whiners...
  4. YES. Only brief description of why is everything SWTOR has done right and has going for it FAR outweighs the few problems I have with it.
  5. Except, that number is higher than everyone thought. Prior to that article, the number from every source I saw was 1 million, which everyone said was going to drop like a rock after a month or two (as you are implying). This is more proof that SWTOR is for real -- a real MMO contender. All the nay-sayers are a lot less credible at this point. I'm looking forward to seeing them proven wrong again and again and again....
  6. Really, Quesh is only going to be a tiny snapshot of player activity on a server. I think I played through that area in literally a day. The best measure of player activity on a server is the fleet pop level, which is always about 10 times higher on weekends than weekdays on my servers. Not a big change from the past.
  7. Simple: MMO to me is playing with or around other people, being able to instantly interact as much or as little as I want to with those people. No forced community here. No disadvantages if you don't happen to feel like being in a guild, constantly playing with other people, playing on a daily/weekly/monthly schedule, etc. I can play with people as much or as little as I want to here -- no guilt. SWTOR nails it...
  8. I think what you mean is "this game doesn't have weird stuff I like to do". Why does it HAVE to? I mean, all the things you mention spark absolutely no interest in me. I don't want to: sit around playing with a calculator while I try to corner the market on the GTN/AH go stand around alone or nearly alone virtually decorating my virtual ship/guild hall stand around staring at a crafting bench for the mind numbing dozens of minutes at a time that most MMO's force you to Speak for yourself on "loot hunting". I like the classes I play and really enjoy finding cool loot. Especially finding cool loot that don't all look identical to many other items except for very minor color variations. As far as people "wandering around", all I can say is it must be your server. No such problems on my server.
  9. As someone said, I think it could be a problem if you have a character that you stealth around in all the time. Leveling a trooper, I never had any problems because I had to fight a lot of mobs that I never would have touched if I had been able to stealth. Same in a lot of MMO's...
  10. Thanks a lot for the tip! I don't know if I just missed the "fullscreen windowed mode" option before or if they added it, but it makes it a LOT easier to alt-tab in and out of the game. Especially nice so I can do other stuff while waiting to log into my character, which does take a little bit. Can't believe I didn't think to look for it before, because the splash screen that shows up for 10-20 seconds every time you alt-tab in and out of the game was really annoying.
  11. Are you looking for the patch notes for the current public non-test realm game client? http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes/1.1.0b/1242012 Not hard, just a link in the frickin' game client. PTR patch notes are for the upcoming patch, so anal people can see what's coming. Ahem... So, people don't think things are being changed behind their back. Don't wanna upset any valuable investors, LOL...
  12. I love the relative simplicity of space combat. Sure, they could add a ton more complexity to it so it works like old Star Wars space combat games (can't remember names, but 10-15 years ago). I wouldn't mind, but this game doesn't really center around space combat. Although I'd like to see more flexibility to allow space combat PVP or something like warzones with space combat. I haven't leveled a character past level 36 yet, but I thought SWTOR was supposed to have PVP space combat? Anyway, when you think about it, if you were really in this ship you wouldn't be shooting weapons and flying/navigating the ship simultaneously. Think about the space combat of the larger ships in the movies (Millenium Falcon and larger). The guy(s) shooting at enemy ships didn't directly control the flying/navigating. And, I'd rather only control the shooting of the weapons in space combat than only controlling the navigation/flying. That would really suck...
  13. I may be remembering the details on how this happened to me before, but I've been ganked on PVE servers in WoW because of a simple mistake like this. Some opposing faction d-bag is hopping around in front of me while I'm attacking some NPC's or going to talk (right-click) to an NPC and I accidentally attack them, which flags me for PVP and they kill me unexpectedly. Unless you're saying AOE shouldn't flag you if it hits another player on a PVE server? I don't specifically remember testing it in WoW, but I believe AOE will flag you for PVP in the same situation as the OP is describing. Anyone know for sure? AFAIK, PVE servers are only non-PVP until you willfully attack someone on the opposing faction, and that could include AOE attacks or accidentally right clicking on them. I'm pretty sure that's why I'm always careful the way I am playing around opposing faction players on PVE servers -- so I don't accidentally attack them. Because, really, they have no idea if it was an accident or not and will usually attack you without waiting to see if you really want to kill them.
  14. So, if this weren't Star Wars, would I play it? What would it be if it weren't Star Wars? Because a heck of a lot of the content depends on that, so it's hard to say since it would totally change the game if it were, say, a Mass Effect MMO. So, let's say it's a Mass Effect MMO with the same look and functionality, but plug in content/lore from Mass Effect. I have to say a big, enormous YEP! I'd still be playing, and I'd be even more excited if it were based on Mass Effect. How about if it were based on the Aliens movie content/lore/comics? Yep, I'd still be playing if you plugged that content into this game. Hmm, this is a pretty damn good sci-fi MMO. I guess that's why I'd still be playing no matter what content/lore you plug into it, because I can't think of a single other sci-fi MMO out there that comes close to what this game gives me...
  15. Buh-bye! PST me you're WoW char name and I'll send you a special "buh-bye" on the WoW forums when you rage-quit there to come back here! LOL....
  16. Yep, this is the whiny BS we're talking about. From the "get-go"??? *&%*(%&^, it's frickin' less than 30 days since this game launched!!! Give me a break, I've been too busy playing the damn game to worry about some stupid guild bank and/or guild bank tabs, LOL...
  17. YES, totally agreed here. All I can say is I enjoy reading most of the posts here in the forums, but sometimes the BS gets a little thick...
  18. If you really don't know anything about Bootcamp or dual-booting Windows 7 and Mac OS X, just take it into the Apple Genius Bar (get appointment) and they will gladly do it all for you for free, explaining along the way. No point buying a PC, you're just paying for pain with little to no (unpaid) support. It makes no sense if you already paid for a MacBook. I run an IT business supporting servers and PC users every day (and Mac users). Apple's free support for each product they sell easily saves you hundreds if not thousands of dollars on support you would have paid to companies like mine for Windows/PC support.
  19. And obviously, you and your friends fully represent "the players", huh? Yeah, right....
  20. EXACTLY this! I'd like to know if I'm reading some QQ post in these forums that it's from another paying subscriber like me or just a pure troll...
  21. I had affection points up to 6900+ before the end of chapter 1 (before level 32), but nothing happened so I kept playing to level 32. After the class quest around level 32 where you take a vacation and then "return to duty", suddenly all the points you built up trigger a bunch of personal missions with her. I had five missions trigger in a row because of all the points. So, once you finish the "return to duty" class quest, it can happen.
  22. This comes up over and over and over again. I'm not sure why some people conclude this game's combat is clunky or like the animations are all "off" or something. I don't get it and I've played MMO's going back far before WoW. Other than that little combat delay preference you can change from the default 0.5 to 0.0, I don't see the combat as anything but fast and fun. Before changing that preference, I did feel a little frustrated, but to be honest every MMO's combat system takes a little adjustment. Of course, when my PC or Internet connection are having problems, that's different. Rebooting the PC or Internet connection solves that, though.
  23. No good MMO is ever "done". How long have you played MMO's without knowing that?
  24. I'll chime in before getting back to work: My friends and I got the second game. We looked at the first one and didn't buy into it. Don't really get why people keep playing it, posting about it, etc. Great OP. You captured the complete disparity between the few whiners and the rest of us. All I can say from years of past experience in "other" MMO's: these people who hate this game will stick around to whine in the forums and won't go away. It defies logic, but we all know it's true. That's just their version of fun. I don't really get that either, but I know people like this and it's the truth. I guess if this is how they enjoy their game, I can live with it while I enjoy it my way...
  25. Wrong, it's t;dr. Troll, Didn't Read. Nothing to see here, move on...
