  1. The one-time password is simply part of two-factor authorization, which I highly recommended using for all online services. Getting a security key does get rid of the one-time password but if you do get one for your mobile device be forewarned that they can be hacked. I do not know if they still sell the USB security keys but those are more secure than the ones you download for use on mobile devices.
  2. I noticed that drop in XP on Class Missions as well. I was wondering if it was just my setup or if it was affecting other players too. I hope they fix it ASAP. I wonder how long it's been like that?
  3. The biggest problems with the launcher not patching correctly started when they began using BitRaider to distribute the patch downloads. The easiest way to see if you have the version of the launcher that uses BitRaider is to check the lower left corner of the launcher and see if there is the letters ST in it. If you see ST then you have the version of the launcher which uses BitRaider. The newer version of the launcher used since the release of 4.0 does not have the ST in the lower left corner of the launcher any more. From my own bad experience with Bit Raider about 2 years ago or so and in my work of repairing computers I've had to fix a number of problems caused by BitRaider as well as other Bit Torrent based downloaders. While BitRaider isn't the worst offender I still advise anyone to avoid using BitRaider if at all possible. To date I still do not know for sure if these problems with using BitRaider with the SWTOR launcher has been fixed yet.
  4. That is true up to a point. At the time of my previous post I was well aware of that fact. That still only makes a list of Guilds making use of that recruiting method, but not all guilds use it. What amounts to is a partial list of just the guilds that choose to use that option. Bioware would definitely have all the information to create a complete guild list for each server and possibly EA as well as maybe even Lucas Arts.
  5. Hey developers @ Bioware & EA How about creating a list of guilds on each server. This would be a big help for people looking to join a guild or creating a new guild. As it stands now it is a hit & miss process for people in both categories. This would probably just take posting information you already have available.
  6. I agree with the above plus it also slows down doing the Daily & Weekly missions AKA Grinding which is the biggest gripe I have about the whole area leveling idea. Why slow down the grinding aspect of the game unless you are going to introduce another way for players to earn the credits/comm/gems/etc buy the gear and upgrades they want. in a reasonable amount of time, which hasn't been added yet at the time of this post. Sure there are Flashpoints, Operations and so forth to do that with but those require joining a group which may not be available to join when you are playing. Slowing down that aspect of the game is a good way to lose paying subscribers since it was already a bit slow as it was. Not everyone is going to want to spend more of his/her precious game playing time just to grind away.
  7. I agree with you wholeheartedly. There is also the fact that there are reputation vendors (mostly in the Cartel Bazaar) that require X amount of reputation that can only be gained from certificates found only in certain old Cartel Packs that have been discontinued. While some of these items can be bought on the GTN (at outrageous prices) a number of them are not available anywhere at any price except at those reputation vendors. From a business & financial perspective Bioware is missing out on revenue that could be had because of this. Something like what's suggested above is done on virtually all "stores" found on business websites. Plus there's no real business or financial reason to discontinue the old cartel packs since there is no physical product to run out of or manufacture.
  8. As I see it Linux biggest problems are: 1 - installing programs is not as easy as it is in Windows, especially for the average Windows users that are trying Linux for the first time. 2 - Not as many programs being developed for Linux. While this is changing for both problems it is not changing as fast as it could be.
  9. This is an excellent suggestion and I would love having a native Linux client to use since they always run better than in an emulation like WINE or in a VM. Getting SWTOR to WINE is a big hreadache that the average user won't bother with. Also VM's have lousy emulated video graphics adapters in comparison to the direct access a native client has to the installed video card.
  10. I agree for the most part on the above suggestion . I'd like to add that there is no indication of terrain elevation which could also be indicated by various color shades. Having no elevation indicators on the maps has been & continues to be one of the most frustrating thins about the map as it is. This can't be much of a problem to execute since I've seen older map programs & games that have addressed all these map issues.
  11. I Agree 100%. Every other MMO I've played has had some type of currency exchange so it can't be that hard to do.
  12. My Legacy name is Evermore. I wonder if any people out there will get where that came from. Muwahahaha
  13. While this thread is old It's still useful. Thanks for all the info. BTW Prior to playing SWTOR I played DDO for 5 years mostly as Tanks and I have to say I still find myself falling into those old habits now and then. Too bad DDO tanking skills and STWOR tanking skills are not the same.
  14. This is a great idea. Shared bank slots for all my characters on the same server was a default bank setting in DDO and you could buy more shared bank slots if needed (which most people did).
  15. Me too. There should be some simple yet attractive suits/robes/armor/out fits for each class & gender available in the game. I believe they would sell well in the Cartel Market, especially if they can be added to the collections.
  16. You have an excellent point and they should list more time zones than they do now. UTC - Universal Time Coordinated which is explained at http://www.wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/info/utc.htm Anyone who served in the military in the past 30 years or so should have no problems converting UTC to their time zone. For example the US uses nine standard time zones. From east to west they are Atlantic Standard Time (AST) (UTC -3), Eastern Standard Time (EST) (UTC -4), Central Standard Time (CST) (UTC -5), Mountain Standard Time (MST) (UTC -6), Pacific Standard Time (PST) (UTC -7), Alaskan Standard Time (AKST) (UTC -8), Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (HST) (UTC -10), Samoa standard time (UTC-11) and Chamorro Standard Time (UTC+10).
  17. Yes this Occasionally happens to me too and it gets frustrating at times. So far I have not been able to get any kind of solution to this problem.
  18. Not I, since I already pre-ordered the expansion. For me it was a no brainer pay $10 and get an expansion plus help show continued interest in the game which will encourage more development of the game.
  19. I've wondered about that myself. So far jumping for me has been problematic at best. In just every other game I've played jumping is not only easier but is often a skill that can be improved as the character levels up. In this game it makes me so frustrated because of how difficult jumping is especially when there are portions that require it, such as recovering many of the datacrons. It also seems like my force users are the worst at jumping. You'd think that they could use force leap at any time not just during combat. BW really needs to address this in a future update and the sooner the better.
  20. In order of importance: 1- Flashpoints 2 - Heroics 3 - Operations 4 - Everything else This game is heavily geared towards group play yet it has the worst group finder I've ever seen. Seriously the lack of a decent group finder is the biggest drawback to this game which is otherwise excellent overall. Both DDO and WoW have much better group finders.
