  1. Ignoring the people in the thousand other threads asking for mega-servers, and also in this thread, stating that they prefer playing on a quieter server. Just because YOU want to play on a busier server, everyone else has to play that way too? There are plenty of arguments against mega-servers, you have chosen to ignore them, so why should we listen to YOUR arguments for it?

You making it about me, that's a red herring. You not thinking about the game and you haven't stated the reasons against megaservers, just said they should exist and I should look them up. You brought the arugment up, you bring them up. That's common sense.

Besides your point is moot because SWTOR has instance technology, like the ones seperating PvE from PvP, they could be used to prevent a server from feeling overcrowded.

Do you even read the comments before replying to them? I mentioned that you knew the servers were quieter when you made your new character, and now you are complaining that they are quieter. You KNEW what the server was like and still chose to start all over again on it, and now you have the nerve to complain and demand Bioware change the game because you want them to fix the 'mistake' that you made on your own?

We need to come up with a new name for 'common sense', cause apparently it isn't very common.

It really doesn't matter what I said, this isn't about me, its about the game and how it will survive with these dying servers latched on it. Your shifting the argument towards me because you want to use that as a reason to distract readers.

It's fine that its my fault I didn't see server I was on was dying, but explain to the readers how that would attract new players and make them subscribe from that experience?

$20 for a server change? Where are you buying your CC? It's 1000cc for a server change (is it still free with a referral?) and you can buy 1050 CC for $9.99 - if you are a sub, 2 months of free CC will have you enough for a server transfer. That is, if your brand new level 10 character is too precious for you to just reroll on another server.

Only if you live in america, there are players who don't and prices are much much higher I assure you.

Q10. How many people have left because of server sizes since the launch of KotFE? Not left for other reasons, specifically because of the server populations. (extra marks will be awarded for showing your calculations, and citing sources)

You and I both agreed to the dwindling numbers of The bastion and you also acknowledged they are happening on other servers since you used the plural tense.

I don't have to prove anything if you admit people have left after the KoTFE.

  2. WOW, that all you are going to get from my most? Going to completely ignore me pointing out that their are people that like to play on low pop server. Just because you don't like to play on low pop server doesn't mean that those that do should be forced to merge. I feel like I am talking to brick wall. Get over yourself. You don't speak for The Bastion. You speak for yourself and yourself alone. If you aren't happy do something about it. Don't try and force your idea what should be done on those that are happy with the low pop server. I bet the issue you are having is no one wants to play with you. That is one of the greatest things about low pop server they can drive people like you away by black listing you.

Whoa, wow, seriously you need to calm down, sorry about my behavior. But I find it ironic that your wanting to play on a MMO with less people in it....

I also think your missing out on the new feature of SWTOR and that is Phasing from PvE to PvP, that same technology can be used to make smaller zones, but really you haven't really pointed out the reason why you like small population servers and how that would benefit SWTOR financially in the long run for an MMO.

No, I call it asinine to create new characters on a low pop server for an event that you know will require completion of group content, and then to whinge on the forums that you cannot complete the group content on that low pop server.

If the argument was that you had just returned to the game to find that your (previously busy) server was now a ghost town, and that transferring your Legacy to a new server would require 1000CCs per character, result in you having to re-decorate 4 completely decorated strongholds, lose the Guild Ship that you have worked so hard to unlock and decorate, then I would have a degree of sympathy - yes, the transfers were free for a while, and yes the transfers were 90CCs for a long time, but you would still get some sympathy from me.

But complaining that you are part way through the DvL event and now find it difficult to progress because the server pop is low, so Bioware please save me from having to spend CCs to fix the problem I created, please ignore the wishes of anyone on the Bastion server who does not want to merge into Harbinger, and just give me what I want so that I can stop complaining... that gets no sympathy from me. You created this problem for yourself by running through the DvL event on a low pop server, so now the onus should be on you to fix your own problem.

But your anger isn't towards me, it's towards bioware. Instead of criticizing your now buckling under and are forcing others to go through the same unpleasant experiences you felt when you had to change servers.

Honestly I am surprised you and any of your guildmates are still subbed after feeling that kind of gouging from this game.

But really the point is moot, your current agenda doesn't really help the game or the event in the long run, it just hurts it. I don't want or need your sympathy, you don't care about the good of this game, though I feel if you were given a free server merge you opinions maybe different.

It caused me to make new characters on another server. For the life of me I can't remember which one, though :) I have a full legacy on Harbinger and a couple of other characters on JC. Maybe it was RE?

It's nice you got something positive from the experience but I doubt it would hold up if your forced to play on a new server when harbinger is barren...

Ofcourse he made a stupid decision and it's only hes fault that he stuck on that server. But we must admit that he has a point.. The point is that having such dead servers in swtor really makes this game down. They remooved the thing showing which server is light or medium or high populated (besides server status section of forum but new players don't know about it) so new players who will come to this game can't know that this server is dead and after they play some time ofcourse they will leave this dead game. What you will say to a new player who made a character on Bastion? "sorry it's your fault to guess wrong" or "pay 1000 CC FOR being unlucky"? Besides there are many "returning" players who return to this game and do you really think they will stay after they see that their once full populated server is dead now? We really have a problem with population, many are leaving and BW should do something to stop it. Mergin servers or making cross-servers ques are the only way.

Technically the title of this thread was used as a launching point. I am not looking for a free transfer, I want people to realize a huge problem SWTOR is having and how big it will get if it persists.

The game has gotten incredibly gouging, I disagreed with the price hike for the server transfer and saw it for what it was, a desperate cash grab to prevent CEO's from thinking about shutting this game down.

With such small and sparse populations, the huge problems developers have had fixing bugs and the recent postponement of the last chapter of KoTFE and the recent announcement of the new expansion I feel we are at the last legs of the game and Bioware and EA may shut this game down soon.

I wanted a server merge to happen between all servers because that would only help it and allow new players to have a fun end game experience. I love this game and have subbed for so many years, but these desolate servers represent a problem to this game and that is it longevity if you can't group with anyone for PvP or flashpoints, is there really any reason to keep playing the game when you finished the class stories.

The rest of the expansions just mix the classes into one cookie, and although I love the story and keep playing I wonder if newer players do or see it as a lazy cash grab.

  3. I wasn't defending the Devs, or the game - I was defending Logic. Starting a new character on a server that you know has a lower population, then complaining about the server you play on having a lower population isn't the Dev's fault.

This complaint isn't just someone who's sitting in a urine filled hole complaining that no-one is helping them get out instead of just climbing out on their own, it's someone who voluntarily jumped in the hole, knowing what was in there, and is now complaining.

You logic is flawed, the dev's don't need defending, your paying for them already. If you don't criticize real flaws, which population problems are for an MMO then your not helping but digging a grave for the game.

Think about it, lets forget about this event (Which believe me needs to succeed because EA is constantly looking at subscribers vs the cost of keeping this game alive) and instead look at the game in the long run.

Logically a single huge mega server where new players can play and old ones a merged, where smallers servers are shut down to prevent new players, wouldn't that greatly improve the group experience of this game at end game?

Your only argument, which is flawed is that because someone didn't make a character on a buff server it was there fault and they should suffer the consequences. That doesn't improve the community out look and make it seem friendly, it makes it look petty and vile and new people won't like coming here if it means being teared apart by jealous players like Erevan_Kindelar.

Tell me CrazyCT how would new customers feel if they were forced to pay an extra $20 on server change because there was no telling what the population experience would be like at end game on the first server they picked?

There is a reason why this game had to go F2Play and there is a reason why a lot of servers are now small with tiny populations that keep dwindling, the customers are leaving.

  4. I was on the PotDS. When I was no longer having fun I moved my whole army of character off that server. I didn't come here and demand and throw a hiss fit that they should merge server. Some people like small pop server. Why should they be forced to move because YOU AREN'T HAPPY? Some people want to keep their character names. Why should they be forced to move because YOU AREN'T HAPPY?

Thank you for revealing your true motives. Doesn't matter what happens to the game as long as everyone paid the same exorbitant price you did.

You don 't care about the game or improving it.

OP you are wasting your time.

People will defend the devs to the death on these forums. Logic and sense has long left the building.

The servers are a mess but they will never accept or admit it.

Like being on a boat with water up to your knee's and being told ''yeah but it never goes past your waist, its fine''

    Its still not right.

How people think empty ghost town servers are acceptable is beyond me.

We have a problem in game do we

    A. write on the forums expressing the problem wanting the devs (who are paid a wage to fix these things) to rectify it

    or

    B. use your own money and sort of resolve the issue short term but allow long term damage.

I go with option A everytime but that makes us hater trolls though.

Oh if that's the case and these forums are filled with venomous trolls who don't fight for improvement and just want the game to die then the SWTOR is dead....

Sad because this game has wonderful story telling.

The only con is the population sparsity. If all the player base were on one server this game would be fantastically fun for group content and wouldn't matter about subscribers because F2P players would supplement and become regulars without thinking the game is dying because they can only see 3 people online on one planet.

  5. No The Bastion was my foundation server, well before the first server merge in larger ones fragments were.

It's obvious you throwing a red herring and pointing that it's my fault because I did not educate myself while bioware doesn't fix the key problem. It seems like you want the game to die.

But my main problem is that this game won't improve if the population is dwindling non existentily on some servers while others are sparse. Division isn't good for an MMO and when a server has basically 7 players actively on in total and no group content can be done because of it then people quit or never come back.

How will it not benefit the game and happiness of it's players with a merger and make it feel more alive. Remember EA has a habit of chopping of studios that are skating by, why else has EA only kept these forums while shutting down others?

  6. I wouldn't stop a server merge, the servers being cross realmed or combined into a mega server would be much better.

But do you play on the bastion? I am sitting there waiting for BG grounds that take hours, I cringe at huge wait times for starfighter and the obvious damage these things do to the game.

Would you pay for a weekly or monthly pass if the server you were on only gave you 3 games a week or 8 in a month? You don't want a server merge, and I don't want this game to die at end game levels. Please use you head. The only thing constant about The bastion is the gold sellers and their "pleasantly surprised" mail spams.

That's not a good image for an MMO.

  7. I find this kinda funny, cause you need to start a new character to do the DvL event, so it'd be easier if you just start a new char on Harbinger.

Tell me, do you see any players making new characters on The bastion with that logic? Besides I got the experience boosting gear on The bastion and it seems not to carry over to new players on another server...

Not to mention all the resources my other characters give it to level swiftly if a new character is made with them.

But your statement is a red herring because it doesn't solve the situation and that's the dying population these servers present and how it effects the game lifespan in the long run.

This game doesn't have cross realms or some way to supplement small population servers so the best players can do is either have dedicated friends who play with them constantly or realize the game is dying and refuse to support or pay for a subscription.

It costs this game new players in the long run, and I can no longer stand by and watch the developers shiv this property into the dirt from greed and laziness.

  8. I'm sure this has been addressed before. I know it's against policy (though I can't find it in ToS) to post RaF in forums unless it's in your signature, but is it acceptable to chat post your code with or without an offer of credits for using it (specifically to subs for the purpose of getting the immediate 600 CC payout)? I see people doing this sometimes.

    Please provide source.

Actually it is legal as long as you not spamming it constantly, SWTOR TV at

was told this by a moderator.
  9. This DvL event is a drag to do in groups, at best the server will have 14 players online, took a look at Harbinger and saw they had over 40 in Korriban.

Are you kidding me? Why are these dead servers still up? Or are you too cheap to bother fixing this problem?

Because the key problem with this game isn't the cartel markets or gold sellers but the population division from these ancient out of date servers.

What worse is that new players who enter these servers will feel the game is dying from the appearance and lack of other players. You just shooting yourself in the foot financially just to keep a couple of dimes.

  10. The games PvP to PvE instance toggle switch is probably to blame for this as NPC's and even the quest givers are missing the Corellia: The Black Hole quest giver and Belsavis: Section X is missing on the imperial side, including a lot of non intractable NPC's that were placed there for decoration.

Though some still remain, seeing a holo of person talking with a droid to no one else certainly jars my immersion experience.

  11. What are you going to do with dead servers like THE BASTION? Wouldn't be able to form a pug or even do the starfighter objectives without waiting hours for queue times to form and the place is literally irrelevant now with changes to PvE and PvE.

Quite frankly these servers are too sparse and unless you have cross realms a huge merge into specific servers is required to make this event fun.

  12. Kylo Ren is related to the Luke and Leia or maybe Luke's first apprentice that went bad. Luke will probably give his life, but in a much more spectacular way like with Galen Marek to save the others and they found a new order of Jedi.

That would have to be it if Disney plans to keep releasing new films.

I also doubt Disney would touch anything from EA they have a love hate relationship since they tried to claim SWTOR as their own during Lucasfilm acquisition.

  13. Really? Im hearing nothing but good things about it, even my friends are saying its amazing and they LOVE the ot

If your friends only watched the movies and nothing else, like playing this game or read any of the expanded lore then yes many would say it's amazing.

However I foresee a lot of heated debate between mainstream film goers and actual Star wars fans.

I will see the film when all the hype dies down and probably expect all the oh's and ah's to replaced with false cynicism as people will say this movie wasn't as good especially when the sequels come out.

I know for a fact that from watching the OT as a child and the prequels as a young adult that the first film in the new saga is kinda meh.

But I would have to see it first, though I will enjoy dissecting and reading discussions like A New Hope and the Phantom Menace gave us.

If this plays out like the rest then the 3rd film should be quite finish. Then again maybe Disney won't end it so they can keep printing new toys?

  14. I heard the movie was a fanservice to the original trilogy. But expect a backlash even if it wasn't and was something more original. No matter what galaxy your in there will always be others out there who say something popular is terrible.

Having watch the trilogy as a child and the prequels as a young adult there was something that always remained true about the films. The first ones of a new trilogy were bland and meh with the rest getting stronger with each release.

    Like a sith.

  15. Hey all,

After some investigation, it looks like we are not going to be able to address this issue today. We'll keep everyone updated as we learn more, but I wanted to ensure that you knew we were continuing to work on it.

    -Tait

That is completely unacceptable especially recently when you asked advice on how to get people to stay subscribed to this game. Well here is a tip MAKE SURE YOUR EVENTS WORK!

It's obvious that Management is the problem here as there is no communication between teams when coding for this game hence the bugs and conflicts.

So far I had the initial introduction quest auto-complete and every time I enter the rakghoul tunnels it says they infection is subsided and I get kicked to the fleet where must travel back to Tatooine by ship costing me credits only to get kicked back to the fleet.

Your telling me this might take days to fix? That is DISGUSTING for the price of the subscription fee I pay to play.

I left this game because of the bugs. If events occur like this even on a Monthly basis I see no point in subbing even for the stupid exclusive crap.

  16. Nah. The Doctor isn't the Hybrid. Listen to what he says, "The Hybrid is ME!" It's Moffat trying to be "clever" again.

I failed to realize this till you pointed it out. I guess because they kept referring her to Ashildr and I found Me to be a subtle name for herself especially considering her lack of real dialogue in the series with other characters.

Well eitherway I found the ending to the series to be actually be quite amazing, given we learn more about Gallifrey after the Time war and time word regeneration and that the Doctor doesn't always walk away "unscathed"

Can't wait for the Christmas special. Love River Song!

  17. I would really wish they would remove the limit of preffered players for space combat, warzones and flashpoints they won't cross server to fill up the populations then this would at least help players get and think about spending money on cartel coins.

I know some say this Bioware, but they design the game not the prices and EA's treatment of Battlefront and how it is gouging customers makes me feel they have lost the entire point of MMO's being population based over dollars spent.

I sub to this game during when I am interested in it, Waiting over hours in the bastion server for space combat queue has become spirit draining.

If not for the new subscriber rewards that EA is now telling bioware to create content for I would stop subbing during dry periods like before and never look at this during this time.

Which means lost profits for EA because I am not browsing at THEIR STORE!

Why does every MBA CEO fail to understand simple economical mechanics? If someone finds your product boring, expensive and empty of employees THEY LEAVE!

I really hope but doubt that any employee would even glance this. I guess its sad that their executives fail to understand that a game that requires players to be active in who finds it hard to get players for what they want to play get bored and quit.

    • No new chapter until February:confused:

    • The eight month subscriber "reward" is an insult, and has significantly diminished the goodwill generated by the otherwise excellent KotFE expansion.

    • My character already has ~25 functionally identical companions. Why would anyone particularly care about adding another robot?

    • The only "replay-able" content for non-raiders are weekly heroics that can all be completed in a single session, and repetitive, tedious Star Fortresses.

    • Lack of character progression for non-raiders after acquiring 216 gear.

    • The Alliance is a ripe opportunity for replay-able, character-driven, single player content, but instead it is a tedious box grind.

    • I love many of the systemic improvements to the game, but the lack of stuff to do means that it is unlikely I will remain a subscriber much longer.

    Subscribed!

This echos my main worries about the current expansion, given the length of each chapter I get the feeling if the current release date is the trend for future chapter releases that EA is telling bioware to horde each chapter so they can drip feed us small bits.

It wouldn't be hard to set it up so it only works if your subbed every 2 months.

I usually sub this game for 6 months when ever I get really interested in new content added, but stop if it becomes a dry period.

The reason why I am worried is because I think this will just drive off the sensible consumers for realizing what this could be, gouging and given EA treatment of battlefront and its price for content can you blame them?
